I chose this cruise because several of our friends cruise Celebrity regularly and speak highly of it. This is my first cruise on this line. We usually book on Seabourn, but this ship had the itinerary we wanted at the time we were available to go, so we choose this cruise. One of my biggest gripes is the way they manage their suite class cabins. Other lines allow only three people per room, max. However, Celebrity has bunk beds in some of the rooms and a fold out sofa. So I assume you can pack the whole family (kids fares are deeply discounted) into a small suite and then you have access to Luminae, a restaurant exclusive to suite travelers. The kids carry on, some toddlers scream, and the parents often do nothing to quiet them. Misbehaving children have been a real problem for me on this cruise. So much so, I would not book again on Celebrity. Also, we bought the premium beverage package. If you drink spirits, premium spirits are available at most bars and restaurants, but I am a wine drinker. The wines I paid for with my premium beverage package are not available at most bars. If you give them advance notice, they will make an effort to accommodate you, but why should I have to bother with that? Some of the servers do not seem well oriented to the different types of wine. I ordered an after dinner glass of Zinfandel, which is what I had been drinking at dinner, at the bar. They brought me white Zinfandel. I tried to explain to the young waiter that there was a difference, but he never really got the message. So they are happy to sell you a premium beverage package, but you are likely going to be served white Zinfandel. There is a significant wait to get into Luminae, unless you go very early or very late. Most of the food is frozen, especially the seafood. I guess with this many people to feed, there is no way to do everything fresh. I understand it, but it is disappointing, none the less. Read Less

As regular Celebrity cruisers, this was our first time on the Reflection and loved it! After having booked a year in advance, as prices went down we upgraded from concierge mid ship to AQ forward if only to get to eat in Blu (more about that later). A brief rundown of things that are important to us. Dining We chose AQ for Blu which we have dined in on other ships. Our first night dining in Blu our group of 4 were seated in the front section and found the waiter a bit too high energy and the sommelier terrible. After that first night, we asked to sit in the back which is more quiet and we lucked out with Ivis our waitress and Madelina, our sommelier who were outstanding, warm and professional! Each dinner was terrific but we chose to eat at the buffet for breakfast a couple of times as the Blu breakfast menu really needs to change as it gets very boring. It's time to switch Blu breakfast up Celebrity! And its also time to improve desserts!! On our first night we took advantage of a Murano discount and had a fabulous meal. We also had the seafood tower at the Porch for lunch on our first day at sea (good thing as there were not other days at sea that were warm enough) We decided if AQ, on subsequent cruises is too expensive, we will choose a better cabin location and eat more in the speciality restaurants. Thanks to all staff who were always helpful in Gluten Free dining options for my husband and sister in law. They can however do a much better job in GF bread quality considering the huge choices available now. Entertainment and Activities The overall energy of this particular sailing was phenomenal. Guiseppe, the cruise director was by far the best cruise director we have ever had in any of our 12 cruises on Celebrity or any other ship. Having many of the ship "parties" in the central foyer resulted in a lot of participation including a few silent discos and an amazing Abba Sing A Long on the night we sailed away from Stockholm. Imagine 3 levels of the grand foyer all signing along, it was a blast. As far as the other entertainment, the Broadway selection was great, one of the comedians was fabulous and the other entertainment was eh. The bars had boring singers and Celebrity needs to step that up a bit. Bars and Café Bacio Clearly they are short staffed at the Martini Bar which, as usual was packed and often hard to find staff. As days at sea were pretty windy and cool, we stayed in the solarium for two days and found staff non existent and often no one around to take orders or clean up dirty dishes. Café Bacio had only two staff, one a hard working man and one a young woman who was downright rude when she made two mistakes (like forgetting one person's order) and rather than saying sorry, she decided to suggest it was our fault. Mmmm. But the coffee there is fantastic and we took lattes from there in the mornings for Blu as it was better. Ports This was a Baltic cruise which had a fantastic itinerary. I will not get into the details as these can be found on the Baltic boards but a few things. Avoid the Strommers Hop On Hop Off Bus at the Copenhagen port!!! They are the only HOHO at the port and run a terrible operation. Hope enough people complain to Celebrity. Not only were they not prepared for the masses, one bus broke down before it even left, then when our bus finally left, we were then told we needed to changes buses at the first stop. Well after at least 45 minutes, another bus showed up. This after we say 5!! other HOHO buses from another company come and go. Plan ahead and book any private tours. We used TJ in St Petersburg who were terrific and if you choose not to go into Berlin (we went 3 days early to spend time there) the local port is lovely and no need to go to Rostock. We found that Celebrity should have allowed full days to get the experience at each port as we felt rushed. Loved our cruise, no regrets, but next time we are in Europe, we will do it by land. The Reflection is a solidly-appointed, comfortable ship. It carries on the Celebrity tradition of quality service with professional and polite staffing. The cabin, at 194 sq ft was sufficiently large and comfortable. Dining is always a plus on Celebrity, and was again. The entertainment was fair to good; nothing special, really. The ports of the Baltic are very enticing, BUT; each port had 5-6-7 cruise ships in at one time. So, for 'premier stops' like St Petersburg, with everyone wanting to see the Peterhof Palace and the Hermitage, 'seeing' anything becomes a 'hit or miss' affair. Picture touring the rooms of these aforementioned places like taking a tour whilst moving around in a Rugby scrum! The crowds are UNBELIEVABLE. You get moved along from room to room on a 'timer' in the Peterhof. In the Hermitage we couldn't even GET INTO the room housing the Rembrandts! Also, I do not understand WHY people who are wheelchair-bound insist on coming on these types of cruises; there is NO handicapped accessibility to any of these places. I saw a man taken out of his wheelchair and was CARRIED UPSTAIRS while his wife CARRIED HIS WHEELCHAIR up the stairs. And how they maneuvered through these massive crowds is beyond me. CHOOSE A DIFFERENT ITINERARY! But the real 'ugly' in the title belongs to Celebrity itself. We used a travel agent and they bought a coordinated package for us including flights, the pre-cruise hotel, and transfers from/to the Amsterdam airport and into/out of the hotel. Well, we, two senior citizens, were to be met at the airport and to be transported to the hotel; well, NO ONE MET US. It was 90*, we had a total of 4 suitcases, and there was NO ONE to meet us OR to provide ANY guidance/help. We had to SEARCH the airport to scramble to get ANY transportation to the hotel. Then, as we had read many reviews of the high-cost and slow-performing internet on Celebrity, we decided to NOT make use of this service. BUT, as we HAD purchased our airline tickets through Celebrity we asked them to 'confirm us/check us in' with our homeward-bound flights---and all we were told was 'just buy one hour of internet time and do it yourselves'; I mean, REALLY?! THIS is 'end-to-end coordinated service'? And then, there was another scrum when the truck containing the departing passengers' luggage arrived AT THE SAME TIME as the busses w/the passengers--although the trucks had left TWO HOURS BEFORE the busses did! So, another 'scrum' took place as everyone scrambled to find their luggage. And THIS scrum was all courtesy of Celebrity. We have (HAD!) traveled with Celebrity several times over the past several years, but I think that this trip, overall, has made Celebrity 'persona non grata' with us going forward! Read Less
