This was a 13 day cruise of the UK. We planned it for a long time and worked with a travel agent. The ship is older but had recently had some renovations done to it. Our cabin was lovely and was always clean thanks to excellent stateroom staff. Although the TV often did not work. We were given a $50 credit for this. We were told by other passengers that the food in the expensive specialty restaurants was really good but the food in the buffet and regular dining rooms was really just slop. It was uninspiring and unappealing and was usually cold with horrible vegetarian offerings. It always looked like the chef was on a cheap budget. After awhile it became quite depressing to never have a really nice meal since we had paid for meals and had expected some nice meals. We sometimes complained and our meals where replaced with new hotter versions but the next night we got the same cold food. It became irritating to deal with. I do not know how to really explain the Princess Shore Excursions. They went to wonderful places but were restrictive and you always felt uncomfortable due to buses that actually had no washroom facilities that were usable and were uncomfortable if you actually had legs -- there was no room to put them. You were always "on the clock" and had some tour guide or Princess excursion person lining you up like a cattle beast. I will never go on a Cruise Ship line shore excursion again. I heard many husbands saying to their wives that they were not spending any more time on buses that crammed people in like sardines. That being said, their were some really excellent tour guides that knew a great deal of their City and their Country and shared their stories with humour and fun. Entertainment was good on the ship and we attended some shows. Shopping was a bit snotty on the ship especially in the jewellery shop. The art work looked somewhat old and tired for some reason??? The public bathrooms on Deck 15 outside of the Horizon Buffet were moldy with broken tiles -- guess they were not part of the recent renovation. I am not sure I would go on another Princess Cruise Line cruise. My husband and I are planning 2 more cruises -- one in 2020 and another in 2021 but don't think we will use Princess. Read Less

We were looking into cruising around the British Isles and Princess offered the best time of year and the most ports of call that interested me and my family. My husband and I had cruised before on two other cruise lines for a shorter time, but had heard good reviews of Princess. We were not sorry in the least that we chose the Crown Princess for this Trip of a Lifetime!! After winning the battle with a serious health issue last year, my husband decided that he was due a very special trip this year. Being retired, this was truly a leap of faith financially for us. Our two grown children were also able to join us and the British Isles were at the top of all our "Bucket Lists", especially since my husband had been delving so deeply into his British genealogy while re-cooperating. The Crown Princess is a massive, elegant ship, well-maintained and appointed. We "splurged" on a balcony room and will never regret it - waking up at dawn and gliding by the green coast of Ireland will be one of the most beautiful memories I will ever keep. The stateroom was extremely clean and comfortable, and our stateroom attendant could not have been more pleasant and sweet. The abundance of wonderful food was amazing, and with a diabetic and a vegan in our group, all our dietary issues were easily satisfied! Unfortunately, with all the great excursions that took us off the ship, we never had time to fully enjoy ALL the fun events that the Crown Princess had to offer! (But our family did win TWICE at the nightly Trivia event that we made sure not to miss!) We also greatly enjoyed the movies and live entertainment in the theater, and also braved the chilly wind on the deck at the Movie Under the Stars one night, wrapped in cozy blankets with bags of popcorn! Every crew member who simply passed us in the hall, or served our dinner, or cleaned our staterooms greeted us with big smiles and a helping hand. We spoke with several who told us what it was like to live and work on such a huge cruise ship - and they all loved doing it! I know every cruise is different and there are no guarantees that each one sails through smooth waters in perfect weather, but that was our lucky experience! Princess took great care of us, made Britain and France accessible to us with amazing shore excursions, and played host to our family in so many unexpected ways! How wonderful it was to have the four of us together again for 12 glorious days filled with beauty and laughter! Thanks, Princess!! Read Less

Attracted by the itinerary, we have chosen this cruise. Initially, we were unware that Liverpool was not there and replaced by 2 days at Dublin. It ended up this gave us a chance to visit the famous Cliff of Moher. We arrived London few days earlier to give us a chance to explore this famous city before jumping into our cruise ship. Embarkment was simple, easy and quick as we arrived the pier around 1pm. In the beginning, we were a bit concerned about some of the negative comments on Crown Princess but they were gone after on board. We don't see any major signs of rusting or worn out within the ship. Cabin was nice and clean as usual. Service was good especially in Michelangelo dining room. We met Marius, the Head Waiter, who always gave us warm welcome as well as Pong who served us dinner with professional standard. In view of the high food cost these days, we were satisfied with most of the food quality. We even have lobster tails one night. The Horizon buffet restaurant was another surprise to us as services were excellent as the waiter kept on asking us if we need drinks or refill and managed to clean up the table as fast as they can. We even have fresh oysters for at least 2 times (not even offered in the dining room). Negative points, they have. Soups were a bit salty (even though oldies might have poor taste buds - bad for health). Beef products were a bit tough not because of the wrong cooking skill but due to meat quality. We found better one last time at Ruby 6 months ago. Though bread and buns were good, the cake quality needed to be improved. Stateroom service was good. We have nice and clean toilet and comfortable bed to sleep all nights. Entertainment was a bit insufficient as they have too many comedian shows (maybe due to cost cutting). We didn't join their shore excursions (except for shuttle bus services from ports to city) as they were too expensive. We used outsiders that cost almost 40% cheaper. Princess has introduced the medallion device that helped a lot to open the door of our stateroom and shopping (for identification). Overall, it is a good value for money vacation. Princess is Princess and you can't compare the standard in the past to the present as the purchase value of $$ are no longer the same. Have purchased future cruise credit in the ship and will definitely looking for another amazing journey in the near future with Princess. The only really negative comment is that disembarkation was a bit messy. They should separate the line of passengers of port visit only from the passengers who have finished their cruise. Read Less
