My daughter and her boyfriend booked this cruise on Carnival Sensation leaving Miami going to Key West and Cozumel for 4 nights and invited us to come along. We have cruised with Royal Caribbean 5 other times prior to this. This ship is in disrepair. We found rust and many things looking worn and broken. We were greeted at our expensive beautiful balcony stateroom by the overpowering smell of pot and very loud music coming from one of our neighbors. Next came the cabin steward just opening the door as I was Changing my clothes! First of all...when they say it's a party ship, believe them! The other passengers were awful. We found very few people that were not cursing,(vulgar f word, mother-fer,and so on) on the entire 4 night trip. Everyone was drunk and unruly. The other passengers were just generally very rude. There was also a hallway encounter with a man blasting a boombox! The entire atmosphere was just terrible. People yelling, shouting curses...even with children within earshot. You could not hear the people sitting with you at your table in the buffet because everyone was just yelling, screaming and shouting to people across the room! The food in the dining room and the buffet was inedible. I bought the unlimited soda package but didn't get the value from it because there are so few places to get a drink. There wasn't anywhere to get milk for our toddler except the breakfast buffet. I ordered milk at dinner in the dining room one evening and as we were leaving the dining room someone ran to catch up with us to finally give it to us...we had given up asking and decided to leave! Every time we tried to go to the buffet it was either fully or partially closed,(unless it was exactly at meal times). There was only pizza open in the buffet but the line was so long because everyone else wanted to eat too and it was the only thing open. The food staff in the buffet and dining room were very dismissive and abrupt whenever they interacted with us. My food was not hot in either the buffet or dining room. We couldn't fit in the one tiny pool on board it was so overcrowded,(not that I wanted to be in there surrounded by loud obnoxious drunk people bumping into us with my almost two year old). I could not wait to get off of the ship. That has never happened on Royal Caribbean. Our cabin had only one electrical outlet. The tv was old and small with nothing on it anyway. Our cabin steward never vacuumed our cabin or cleaned our bathroom. The larger ships we have been on were always smooth even in rough seas. I believe this ship was so rough because it's a smaller ship and therefore lacked the larger stabilizers the larger ships have. We were unable to use the play time for the toddlers as the times they had available was so limited. And last but not least, our cabin steward stole my expensive Samsung wireless earbuds. We were told they are not liable for theft and it's our loss! It was overall a terrible experience and we will never cruise on Carnival again. Read Less

It looks like Deon who is the star of the entire trip: is probably the hardest worker. Yes- everyone looks like they work hard but the teamwork is needed. Deon excellent with Motown event. The piano singer with beard as Elton John not good which is a shame because the other dancers/ singers are very good and devoted and better than him. I’m sure there’s a superstar within the team to replace him. He’s good looking and looks at people in the crowd with confidence but he’s creepy. The bus ride to excursion with new guy from sensation to 7 mile beach had no clue. He lost a paper with names and told us three diff times to leave. There were no lockers that we know of. Beach too packed like sardines but it was beautiful and clean. I just expected a better resort than this — coral reef. Looks thrown together and cheap. So we had to leave hour earlier because bus director told us wrong time , become sardine on bus and boat to ship. I loved it there but it was a mess. Hairy chest contest/ mix a drink contest mc Cruise Director Deon was wonderful- The song trivia is the best event at the ship because of him. Maybe he can train trivia leaders and move it to a quieter area as there were so many drunk, obnoxious people, it was hard to hear. Windows were so full of crud. A lot of people called our ship a rust bucket. That’s embarrassing. I wish you would kick out the boisterous drunks in whirlpools. This ship almost needs a security guard to move the obnoxious yelling and twerking women to a room. This is not a kid friendly shop. Bingo was a waste of money. Would try again if more tickets for money and better value but too expensive. Turkey with turkey dressing was amazing. Prime rib excellent and vanilla brûlée. Turkey deli sandwich and burger awesome. Breakfast great. The food on this ship was incredible. Studio VIP had one excellent singer a short girl. She has an amazing voice. Snorkeling in Ochos Rios was amazing and the snorkeling team on the bottomless boat were so proud of their island. He was caring and had great personality. They all laughed a lot. Even though the boat didn’t look like it would make it: I was proud to be on their boat! Water was amazing and coral and fish sighting good. They really bother you too much trying to sell the same goods in Ochos Rios. It almost felt like they were stalking and dangerous. We went back on the boat. If the boat could sell the Jamaican handicrafts on a craft night to help support them: it might help them more. I don’t think we will go back. If they were handcrafted like grand cayman: it would’ve been better. It just feels too distressed in this port. Bathrooms at beach and port were not nice. Hasbro Game Show was terrific Love & marriage was so funny Trivia business slogans was Good Comedian good. He picked on James and it took me a while to get used to him but he is definitely an asset as well due to his high energy and attitude. Our photog was very good. I wish the photos were smaller. He has good photo skills. Keep him and give him his own personal area and stress he does touch ups which is a plus. I love Grand Cayman but prob would not go back to Jamaica. I cannot believe the bathroom attendants kept the port bathrooms so clean. What a waste of time to get on tender in Grand Cayman . I wish we could avoid a tender. The public restrooms on boat were a mess. Carnival needs to spend money fixing up the Sensation as I doubt I’ll go on it again. There was mold throughout bathroom. Plan on three hours of embarkation which is a waste of time. This cruise is not good for families because of the clientele it attracts. It is an obnoxious, loud group and the entertainment brings that out Read Less

I am embarrassed to admit that this is my 8th cruise, but my 1st review. I finally decided to write a review for 2 reasons. because I have had the benefit of reading other reviews to help me make a decision and also, because I had trouble finding recent reviews of the Sensation. We did faster to the fun for the first time. Wasn't sure if it was really necessary on a smaller ship but it was pretty cheap so we decided to go for it. We arrived a few minutes before 11am and literally walked onto the ship. Probably took no more than 15 minutes for embarkation. It also came in handy when we needed to go to guest services a couple of times. The regular line was pretty long, but not ours. I have been on her sister ship so I knew what to expect. Yes, it's and older ship. Yes, it's a smaller ship, that isn't always a bad thing, if you ask me. It has the 2.0 upgrades like the Alchemy bar and Guy's burger joint. Easier to find your people on a smaller ship. We were in an ocean view this time. Hard to go back to an ocean view after being on a balcony for our last several cruises. I received a pretty good promotion from the casino and it was only for an ocean view. Our room was clean and our steward took great care of us. It was a very diverse crowd on the ship which we really enjoyed. Everyone was fun and friendly and in a good mood. We often had the Alchemy bar and the sea day brunch to ourselves. Never a wait for the main dining room either. Our Cruise director was fabulous! He was a great singer and dancer and was so much fun! Food was always good and they even made something for me that isn't on the menu anymore for the sea day brunch. That made me so happy! We always get the cheers package and we enjoy trying new drinks and decent wine. If you are hanging out in the same bar area for a while. Throw your bartender some tips and he/she will make sure your glass is always full with a strong drink. Would I sail the sensation again? Yes, absolutely! In fact, I wish I was there right now!
