With limited vacation days, this cruise made it possible to take 8 night cruise with 3 vacataion days. We sailed Anthem 2 months ago in September. We were in cabin 11572 in Sept 2018 and Nov 2018. Ship was almost full 4,800 pass. Lots of families with children. Never had any problems or complaints with full ship or lots of children. Only encountered 3 rude adults 1X the entire cruise. And all children we saw were very sweet and well behaved. In fact, it was a joy to see so many families celebrating the holiday. would not hesitate to book this Thanksgiving cruise again. We were on private island on Thanksgiving and there was more than enough space and chairs for everyone. All staff were very pleasant. Had excellent service in dining room. Grande with Diana and Marvin. Best team ever. Cabin 11572 is nice location. Had bad matress in Sept and let Royal Caribbean know and asked that it be replaced before we came back in November as we had the same cabin booked. Sorry to say nothing was done, and we were very disappointed in Royal for doing nothing to address the problem. Our wonderful cabin attentant said she would try to help. She put something under matress night 1. didn't help. she put 2 folded matress pads over the matress 2nd night, that didn't work either. Anya flipped matress 3rd night. that moved the problem to the other bed, but at least it was bearable. Neither bed was comfortable, but at least the pain in the morning was not as bad as first 2 nights. Everything else about the cruise was great. The shows are outstanding. The talent on stage is excellent. Ship is beautiful and clean. Our internet worked very well entire cruise. Use it to watch friends on Netflix because there are very few TV channels to watch. Food was good. Not great, but there was nothing bad. I didn't have to cook it or clean up and I never went hungry, so I was happy. this was cruise #35 for us. Had matress problems 1X on Princess, and 3X on Royal. the other 31 cruises, Celebrity, Princess, Disney and Royal, beds were fine. So I know it is possible. Just last 3X on Royal cant seem to break the bad matress spell. Overall, if not for matress, everything else was great. Love the Anthem. Read Less

I booked this cruise as a surprise to my parents for their 30th Anniversary. Us being a close family, we all went together. This was our 16th cruise on RCCL and first on Anthem of the Seas. We've left from Bayonne 6 times previously, however this was prior to the new terminal being built. The new terminal is fantastic and allows for a very smooth experience. We arrived around 9:30 and were ushered straight in to drop our luggage. After doing so it was a quick in to the parking garage and we were on our way. A few parking notes. It is $20 per day and you get a ticket and pay upon your return. There are many pay stations which makes it easy. There are only two elevators, so I recommend walking the ramp to save time. The ship itself was nothing short of awe inspiring. As soon as you walk on the gangway, you see the vastness of this ship. This was the first time for us on the Quantum class of ships. We found it very well designed and laid out. There was a venue for every taste and you could always find a place playing live music. There is two main "gathering areas" I would call them. The Royal Esplanade replaces the promenade on this class, and the Via is an extension of it featuring an open area round Jamies Italian and Vintages. There was usually an acoustic set going on here. We found that despite having these places, the ship lacked sufficient area for a large group gathering. Everything was split up promoting different areas instead of one central gathering point like the Promenade or Centrum on the smaller classes. This design contributed to the fact that despite there are 4,900 of your closest friends on board, you really don't notice crowds that often. The food overall was fantastic. We had 5:30 seating in the MDR which ended up being The Grande Restaurant. Due to the Dynamic Dining concept going south, the MDR is setup as four restaurants. The Grande and Chic serve for the traditional seatings, American Icon and Silk serve as My Time. I did notice them filling tables in The Grande with My Time Diners as space allowed. The wait staff was extremely efficient and not one of our meals took over an hour. The food was excellent on this ship. Nice sized portions and great flavor. My only slight con is that everything seafood was cooked to death. However, it was still good. We ate in Wonderland on Thanksgiving and did not regret it. We went on a culinary trip down the rabbit hole and were delighted with all the dishes. The waiter will go over the menu with you and ask preferences but will ultimately pick the dishes to be served. Go with an open mind and do not expect ordinary. We experienced flavor like none other and the entire experience was top notch. This is not a restaurant for a picky eater, and they will explain that to you at the beginning. I found the activities lacking on this ship. Granted we were never at a loss for something to do, but it lacked planned activities. The compass on sea days were not as packed full as other ships that I have been on. Also, the evening activities were a little difficult to find as they list them in a separate area in the compass and not in the main area like other ships. The bands in the lounges, however, were top notch and a joy to go to. The shows were absolutely top notch. Spectras Cabaret and We Will Rock You are not to be missed! The actors are stunningly talented, and Spectra owns his role. Five thumbs up for shows offered on this ship. We did not get to see The Gift. Overall I rank this ship as good to excellent. The ship is well laid out and you never feel crowded despite the sheer number of people on board. The staff members were all very friendly and went out of their way to make sure that everything was great and you were happy. This was a Thanksgiving cruise so there were many families on board, and over 1200 children. It was a test of patience overall on the cruise dealing with that number of children, notably teens that were left to their own devices and terrorizing elevators and lounging in the stairways. We tend to avoid peak children times and will continue to do so in the future for these reasons. A Crown and Anchor Note: D+ members do not have reserved seating in the theaters. Only certain suites and pinnacles. Keep this in mind when attending shows. I was miffed by this and noted this in the survey as this is one of the benefits. Anthem still has a concierge lounge which welcomes D+ members, and it was a fantastic place to enjoy a drink in the evenings. The loyalty ambassador was a tiny bit more helpful on this cruise compared to others that I have been on and was able to take care of some issues that we had with no problems. We would definitely try out Anthem again. However, we will most likely attempt it on an off peak time with less children and a longer itinerary. Read Less

This was an exciting cruise for us. First time leaving from a northern port, Cape Liberty, NJ. First time on Anthem of the Seas. First time going to Bermuda. We cruised November 10th thru November 17th. I picked this week due to wanting 2.5 days in Bermuda. I knew going in the weather might be a little questionable. We drove into port. Pretty nice easy drive other that 8 hours of rain. Parking at port was quick and easy. We entered Terminal and walked right up to someone holding a tablet and checked in. Nice and easy. They used the pics we had uploaded from home. We went and sat in holding area. Right around 11 AM they started the boarding process. We were on the ship by 11:15. Right away we went to one of the Kiosk and made reservations for IFly and North Star. Then it was time to head to the buffet. The buffet was very hectic, which is the normal for embarkation day. I just grabbed first thing I came to and was happy with it. They started making announcements that the cabins were ready at 12:45. The doors to the halls were not open yet. I think this was a ploy to get people to leave the Windjammer to clear tables for other passengers needing a place to sit. Rooms did open up at 1. Our cabin was 6270. Some of these rooms on deck 6 are marked as obstructed. Was not sure how much our view would be obstructed. Was not bad. Will post some pics. Was nuisance having Jamie's outdoor seating below us. We did have to make sure drapes closed good when dressing. Our cabin was very nice. Plenty of storage. Loved the decor. Shower awesome. Floors did need a good cleaning. Not sure was vacuumed before we boarded. Our room steward had also just boarded the ship so not his fault. Leaving NJ/NY was very windy and pretty cold. We stayed out just until we went under the bridge then hurried back inside. The 2nd day was pretty cold and windy as well. Plenty of pool chairs available. Solarium was the busy spot and hard to find a seat. We really enjoyed the ship. Lots of neat things to do. We rode bumper cars several times. (There were only little over 500 Kids on our sailing, I could see there needing to be reservation times if full. Hate to spend so much of your time waiting in lines). We did North Star twice. I loved the IFly. Great experience. Loved the Shows, The Gift and We will Rock you. The Cabarret was little different. Our show was cut short do to rough seas. The guest entertainment was all wonderful and loved the house band, Switched On. Amazing talent. The parties were in too small of a venue. Also thought the Beatlemanics needed to be in bigger venue. The ship showed a couple 3D movies, but mainly on port days in the afternoon. I wish on day 2 and day 6 and 7 that these would have been offered. Would have been a little something extra to do since not great days to be out by the pool. Bermuda was stunning. Loved our days there. We rented mopeds and toured on our own. So many beautiful spots. Will definitely plan another trip, but probably go just a few weeks earlier in season when just a tad bit warmer. Read Less
