This was our first river cruise and it exceeded our expectations. From the moment we came off the plane we were met with people who had an attention to every detail. The ship was stylish and spotless. Our cabin was very spacious. The staff over the top meeting every request. The ports and excursions were enjoyable. The guides chosen were very knowledgeable and friendly. The food choices for lunch and dinner were great and the service in the dining room amazing. The staff was incredible, funny and experienced and made sure you knew what the activities for each day were about. Organized and attentive to every detail. On our last day we were driven to the airport where a viking rep was waiting to retrieve our luggage and escort us to the check in counter. It does not get any better then that. Luxury personified. We would absolutely travel with viking again. Read Less

Booked this 3 generation cruise before Viking River raised age to 18. Our 14 & 16 yr old granddaughters loved it as did our daughter and her husband (1st time cruisers). We are river cruise veterans who were blessed by having our best Cruise Director Brenton and a super (English!!!) chef Martin Carter. Everyone loved their rooms, French Balcony & Veranda. The dinners were excellent with many choices to satisfy everyone and great service. We ate dinner together but everyone was able to do their own thing at breakfast & lunch, from Aquavit Terrace to the Restaurant, what they wanted, when they wanted it. The tours ranging from Paris itself to just strolling off the ship to walk through towns where we docked were all excellent. With 3 generations, everyone was able to choose what they wanted to do each day. Departure day the unannounced walk through St Germain-en-Laye was a great way to introduce touring to our family, a fun tour. In Rouen I choose to walk the city again on my own in the afternoon while others went on a farm tour or off to Honfleur. Of course, the highlight was Normandy. Not enough time but time well spent. We (Americans) opted for the Commonwealth Tour (British) because we wanted to see the historic Bayeux Tapestry before it moved to England. Another highlight of that tour was Pegasus Bridge where 3 gliders landed within 100 yards, then captured & held the bridge. The bridge is there as well as gliders and a museum. Very moving wreath ceremony at the gravesite. On the last day my wife & I skipped the Napoleon Estate tour and took Viking shuttle into Paris enjoying another wonderful day at the Musee D'Orsay and walking the Seine. Read Less

Our cruise was wonderful! From the moment we stepped on board we were treated like royalty by the staff. We especially enjoyed Patricia, our cruise director. Her attention to us and our needs was top notch, and Viking if lucky to have her on staff. The service was excellent and we even made some friends with staff and guests! I loved the dining options...al fresco, nothing but great views, small and large tables depending on your mood. Kind of felt like a place "where everybody knows your name" and I can't wait to go again. Best part is, you feel like a tourist but get a relaxing vacation all at the same time. Many times we opted out of excursions just to sit on top of the boat and watch the beautiful scenery slide by! Don't miss booking a room with a "juliet" balcony. The option to open the sliding glass door and watch the world go by morning, noon and night was amazing! Read Less
