Carnival Pride

Carnival Pride - Carnival Cruise Line

Pros

Three swimming pools keep crowds down; good dining variety; great entertainment

Cons

Due to the ship's layout, it's hard to get to some areas, and the decor is dated

Bottom Line

The Fun Ship 2.0 additions provide great value without the crowds of larger ships

I have been on at least 20 cruises. This is the darkest ship I have ever been on. I think part of the problem in the buffet is that the ceilings are painted a dark color. There are several places around the ship that seem really dark. I had a great cabin steward and Ronnie my waiter in the dining room was very good. Plenty of games and such during the day, although I do wish there was more crafty things. The evening was filled with eiher shows in the theater or the comedy club. Nice to have both options. The selections on the dining room menu were quite limited. I now know that I could have asked for the children's menu for more options. While the food was ok, it was not great. I did a back to back sailing 2/9/20 by myself and my sister and brother in law joined me for the second week 2/16/20. Due to the whether we got back late in to Baltimore on Sunday. I had a 330 flight out and missed it. Ended up getting one out the next day around 1030. Other than giving me the phone number of American Airlines, the front desk was not very helpful in getting me back home. Pretty much felt like they were saying for me to deal with it on my own. Went on my first cruise, carnival pride and was not impressed at all, the food was subpar and some of the staff didn’t seem like they wanted to help and seemed bothered if I stopped them to ask a question. Our neighbors had there kids unattended running up and down halls all night and slamming doors and we reported it several times and finally the day before we got home the noise stopped. So many young kids running around without parents that we couldn’t play miniature golf because they were breaking the clubs then we docked home 6 hours late, the one positive thing was the guy that cleaned our room, he was fantastic and we even tipped him extra!!! I’m not sure I’ll ever take another cruise and if I do it will NOT be with carnival pride. We wanted to go to movie night and there were not enough chairs and the ones that were taken had sleeping kids on them so we never got to do movie night and the serenity pool was nice but people came up to save there chairs at 6am by putting towels there then went back to room so chairs stayed saved and empty for hours so it was hard to find a chair to lay out, people who couldn’t find chairs did let staff know that seats are saved and empty for hours and they didn’t seem to care so I went over and removed all the towels so the 6 women could sit and I gave towels to employee and told them and they just took towels and didn’t even I spoke to them. Never again!!! Read Less

I booked this cruise because it went out of Baltimore and it was the best deal I could find. I had very low expectations, and just wanted to get away for a week with my family, see some new places, and not have to cook or clean. The Carnival Pride surpassed my expectations in every way. The musicals at night were awesome. Our cabin was perfect. My kids had so much fun in the pool and doing the water slides over and over again. I had read reviews saying that the food on Carnival Pride was lukewarm and not good-- we ate mostly in the main dining room, and the food was wonderful and always hot. My husband did wish there had been a live dealer for poker in the casino. I had also read reviews saying that the passengers on the Pride are rude-- this was not our experience at all. Everyone was friendly and seemed to be having a great time. The other passengers did not act annoyed by our children, which I had been a bit concerned about as this is supposedly a "party boat." Many people stopped to talk to my kids and really seemed delighted by them. The ports were decent-- we swam and hung out at the beach in Princess Cays, and did a glass bottom boat Carnival excursion in Freeport. Those were both nice. We explored Nassau on foot and went to the Pirates Museum and the restaurant next to it for lunch. I enjoyed getting out of the cruise terminal area and walking to the museum-- we were able to talk with several local people who helped us with directions, and it was nice to interact with these kindhearted Bahamian souls. Nassau was my favorite port out of the three because it felt like we got to experience a bit of the true culture of the Bahamas. Ultimately, this cruise was so much fun and my whole family can't wait to do it again. Read Less
