Pigeon Island -- which after being joined with St Lucia's mainland several decades ago is technically no longer an island -- has been designated both a national park and a national landmark. Historically it played a significant role for St. Lucia during war times, and is described as something of a living museum, with its various ruins and nearly unspoiled natural beauty. Visitors will also find excellent snorkeling and diving here, as well as a number of other outdoor activities.
