Isla de la Juventud has been mostly ignored by the Cuban government since the 1950s, which has allowed its natural resources to remain relatively untouched. The island has an interesting history -- both colonial and as a stomping ground for pirates -- and is ripe for exploration, whether in the water diving for treasure or on land encountering the wildlife.
