Home to Europe's largest active volcano -- Mount Etna -- Catania boasts a rich and unique culture, which has in part been shaped by the constant threat of Etna. Catania is bursting with historic buildings and landmarks representing its many invaders including the Spanish, Greeks, Romans and even Arabs, but it also offers visitors plenty of other attractions including beautiful beaches, a number of excellent museums and lots of cafes, restaurants and bars.
