About Ambassador Cruise Line Cruises

Ambassador Cruise Line launched in April 2022, the first new British cruise line in the U.K. in 12 years, with just one ship, the 1,400-passenger Ambience.

The 21-year-old vessel, which started life as Regal Princess, offers affordable no-fly cruises for the over-50s, operating from Tilbury, Essex.

A second ship, Ambition, will join the fleet in May 2023, carrying 1,200 guests in 714 cabins and 10 guest decks. Operating itineraries from Tilbury, as well as six additional UK regional departure ports including Newcastle, Dundee, Liverpool, Belfast, Bristol and Falmouth.

The 1,400-passenger Ambience was upgraded and refurbished and fitted with emission-reducing technologies that bring the ship up to the highest emissions standard in the world, according to the line. Ambience's godmother is British Olympian Sally Gunnell OBE.

In terms of onboard amenities, Ambience and Ambition both have a range of restaurants including speciality dining options, cafés, lounges, a swimming pool, the Green Sea Spa, evening entertainment and fitness facilities complemented by enrichment and lifestyle programmes.

Leisure facilities onboard Ambition include six bars and lounges -- the Cavern, Clifton Lounge, Purple Turtle Wine Bar and the Consulate, Angel and Pendennis bars.

There are two main dining rooms, Buckingham restaurant and Holywood; as well as Borough Market for more casual dining. there are also three specialty dining options -- Saffron, Lupinos Olympic Taverna and Holyrood.

The first full year programme operating until May 2023 will consist of 33 sailings visiting a total of 88 different ports, featuring the Baltics and St Petersburg, Greenland, the Arctic, and Iceland, whilst for the winter months a range of expedition style voyages will sail to the Canaries, Cuba, the Caribbean, Cape Verde and Scandinavia.

Excellent Cruise with a few wrinkles

Food was generally good (did have a meal or two that wasn't impressive but that's life), the buffet was busy at times but I have seen far worse on other ships. It was the ship's first trip into cold waters and the crew were learning in the first couple of days which doors to keep closed etc.Read More

If you are in a wheelchair don't bother.

If Ambassador can sort out their issues with accessibility and refurbish the rest of the ship they have a lot of potential and I will book in the future.I've had a good old moan and despite the issues, I did enjoy my 3 weeks away.Read More

Not my best cruising experience

On one occasion we had to wait in a queue for one hour to disembark (the crew and staff were disembarking at the same time using the same exit, not a very efficient arrangement), and then left standing in the sun for another half an hour. One our deck during the cruise there were at least two incidences of rooms being flooded.Read More

Floating Care Home!

Many passengers seemed to need continual entertainment and there were few quiet places to relax and watch the sea.Too few sun loungers so fights broke out.Read More
