About Ambassador Cruise Line

Ambassador Cruise Line launched in April 2022, the first new British cruise line in the U.K. in 12 years, with just one ship, the 1,400-passenger Ambience.

The 21-year-old vessel, which started life as Regal Princess, offers affordable no-fly cruises for the over-50s, operating from Tilbury, Essex.

A second ship, Ambition, joined the fleet in May 2023, and carries 1,200 guests in 714 cabins and 10 guest decks. Operating itineraries from Tilbury, as well as six additional UK regional departure ports including Newcastle, Dundee, Liverpool, Belfast, Bristol and Falmouth.

The 1,400-passenger Ambience was upgraded and refurbished and fitted with emission-reducing technologies that bring the ship up to the highest emissions standard in the world, according to the line. Ambience's godmother is British Olympian Sally Gunnell OBE.

In terms of onboard amenities, Ambience and Ambition both have a range of restaurants including speciality dining options, cafés, lounges, a swimming pool, the Green Sea Spa, evening entertainment and fitness facilities complemented by enrichment and lifestyle programmes.

Leisure facilities onboard Ambition include six bars and lounges -- the Cavern, Clifton Lounge, Purple Turtle Wine Bar and the Consulate, Angel and Pendennis bars.

There are two main dining rooms, Buckingham restaurant and Holyrood; as well as Borough Market for more casual dining. there are also three specialty dining options -- Saffron, Lupino’s and Olympic Taverna.

Ambassador’s ships visit a variety of breathtaking destinations including the Baltics, Norwegian Fjords, Greenland, the Arctic, and Iceland, whilst for the winter months a range of expedition style voyages sail to the Canaries, Cuba, the Caribbean, Cape Verde and Scandinavia.

There are NO movies on demand, and with no way I could see of getting a guide, you don't really know what is going to be showing in advance - with the exception of the two movie channels, which do say after a movie has finished, what is the next movie and the one after that, but doesn't give any times, so it's a bit of guesswork. They provide little milk pods but for info they are full fat, so if you want skimmed you will need to go to one of the restaurants and grab a mug of milk and bring it to the room (they don't mind, although see recommendation below about things to take).Read More

Wonderful mini cruise despite change of ship

The staff at Ambassador head office advised us that our trip would be on the Ambition due to our originally booked ship, Ambiance, having maintenance difficulties. All in all, a very good cruise and we are looking forward to our rescheduled festive event which was cancelled but will now be in January.Read More

Budget cruising

I have never been on a ship where even the restaurant was buffet style for breakfast and dinner. All in all I enjoyed my cruise but I think for a longer holiday the buffet service breakfasts would get me down.Read More
