About TUI River Cruises Cruises

TUI is starting its river cruise programme with three ships, offering 19 adults-only itineraries on the Danube, Rhine, Moselle, Main and Dutch and Belgian waterways, including the 14-night "European Icons" itinerary from Amsterdam to Budapest, or in reverse. The line will feature many of the benefits of Marella Cruises, including tips in the fare, plus inclusive flights, transfers and Wi-Fi (1GB per cabin, per week).

The fleet will feature a selection of balcony suites, a la carte dining, casual dining and onboard social venues. Passengers will have the option to select their board basis, including full-board with drinks -- wine, beer and soft drinks with meals -- or without; with the option to purchase a premium drinks package. There will also be a personalised shore excursion programme, allowing passengers to choose exactly how much, or how little, they want to do.

TUI River Cruises Cruise Tips, Activities, and Overview

Who goes on TUI River Cruises cruise ships?

Marella attracts a broad cross-section of Brits, many of them familiar with TUI's land-based holidays. In keeping with the general river cruise demographic, a middle-aged and more mature crowd are likely to be attracted to the adults-only river cruises; many of them first-timers who have previously taken ocean cruises with Marella or holidays with TUI.

The company's customers are generally easy-going and fun-loving, with a focus on value for money rather than luxury.

Do I have to dress up on a TUI River Cruises cruise?

In keeping with its ocean ships and river cruising in general, the onboard dress code is casual. There are no formal nights on river cruises, although some passengers like to dress up a bit more for events such as the captain's welcome dinner.

Is everything free on TUI River Cruises cruises?

Almost. There are a very large number of inclusions over and above most other river cruise lines. Fares will include direct flights from UK airports, a 20kg luggage allowance, transfers to and from the ship, all meals, wine, beer and soft drinks at lunch and dinner, Wi-Fi and tips. Bar drinks are not included, but drinks packages will be available. Passengers will also receive £120 credit towards shore excursions.

What are TUI River Cruises’s most popular activities?

Daily tailor-made shore excursions -- with passengers free to choose as few or as many as they want -- will include walking tours in ports of call and visits to places of interest such as museums and castles. Active cruisers will be able to opt for options such as bike tours.

There is live onboard entertainment each night.

Why go with TUI River Cruises?

  • High level of inclusions including tips.
  • Brit-friendly ships.
  • Value-for-money cruises with flexible options.

Best for: TUI holiday fans and new-to-river-cruise passengers looking for a friendly and well-priced break

Not for: Families with little ones and teenagers and luxury loving couples
