Coral Expeditions Cruises Tips, Activities, and Overview

Who goes on Coral Expeditions cruise ships?

The vast majority of passengers are Australian, but there is sometimes a contingent of other nationalities, depending on whether a group booking is aboard. There is no age limit, but cruisers must be mobile enough to get themselves around, in and out of the vessel.

Do I have to dress up on a Coral Expeditions cruise?

No. Coral Expeditions describes its dress code as "resort casual" and "sun-smart," so pack plenty of light summery pieces to wear during the day. However, collared shirts for men and smart blouses for ladies are suggested for dinner.

Is everything free on Coral Expeditions cruises?

No. Cruise fares include all meals and house wine and beer with lunch and dinner (except on short Great Barrier Reef cruises), as well as two shore excursions each day on most sailings. Barista-style coffee and tea are complimentary all day. Beverages outside of meal times, select tours (such as flightseeing), Wi-Fi, laundry and retail shop purchases incur additional charges.

What are Coral Expeditions’s most popular activities?

Cruisers choose Coral Expeditions for its packed schedule of twice-daily shore excursions and look forward to experiences that immerse them in a destination's nature, history and culture. Onboard, passengers prefer to mingle over drinks on the sun deck or in one of the lounges, or attend one of the educational lectures.

Why go with Coral Expeditions?

  • Fares include two daily shore excursions
  • Down-to-earth but delicious meals made with fresh, local produce
  • Specially designed expedition vessels go where larger ships cannot

Best for: Adventurous travellers seeking off-the-beaten path exploration

Not for: People who prioritise relaxation over activity

Coral Expeditions: A Voyage of Contrasts

Embarking on two voyages with Coral Expeditions, one to the sub-Antarctica of New Zealand and another along the coast of South Australia, provided a mix of experiences that left me with both admiration and reservations. While I may not choose to embark on another voyage with Coral, I do recognize the genuine intentions of the team and their commitment to enhancing the guest experience.Read More

Best trip ever

After dinner there was usually a documentary or movie showing but many of us were tired out at the end of the day and had early nights so we were ready for the next day's adventure.Even though the itinerary and operations of the tours were exceptional, the trip would not have been so successful without the staff.Read More

Solar Eclipse Expedition

We saw many sunrises and sunsets, geology only seen in the Kimberley area, rode the horizontal waterfall, flew over the Mitchell River and viewed the waterfalls in a helicopter, saw up close the amazing Montgomery Reef, sailed through Whirlpool passage, saw crocodiles, turtles, fish, birds and fleeting visits of other wildlife too. This definitely not a cruise like any other it is truly an expedition and such a great learning experience from the moment you open your eyes to the time you close them again at the end of the day.Read More
