We had an unexpected two weeks off and asked our travel agent to find a good deal for a cruise. The travel agent found a Norwegian cruise on the Norwegian Star leaving Southampton on October 23, 2023. We had never sailed with Norwegian before and were open to trying it out. We've sailed previously with Carnival, Celebrity, Oceania, Princess and Royal Caribbean. We have not cruised since 2018 so we ...
I chose this cruise as I liked the itinerary. I was dubious about going on the Aurora, but the fact that it was Adult Only helped seal the deal and the price was right.
Why was I dubious about the Aurora? This was my 3rd trip on her, my first being in 2019 just before the pandemic. My experience then was great. Good ship, lovely crew, good service and great food choices. Having experienced ...
This was our 5th cruise with Celebrity.
The embarkation process was incredibly efficient and our best experience of it yet.
The ship was full (probably because of school half-term holidays - the children were very well behaved and no problem at all) and getting a table in the main cafe was always difficult for breakfast and lunch. The food at lunchtime and breakfast was excellent, although ...
Boat still in good condition, cabin was nice. MDR food was variable. Desserts on the whole were ok but the starters and main were usually luke warm when they arrived. Food was dry, not enough sauce or gravy so had to ask for extra. Lots of items removed from the menu, ie cheese and biscuits, melon medley. Waiter was friendly enough but had little personality, assistant waiter was great. ...
The idea of taking the cruise was to visit Amsterdam beforehand and cruise along Norway villages were the two countries that we wanted to visit for the longest time. We were disappointed with how old the ship was, everything is outdated. The $32 fee a day for a couple is for room cleaning but the toilet area ALWAYS smells like urine.
The service in the Tides restaurant was excellent, though all ...
This was our first ever cruise. We chose Celebrity as our son and wife have cruised with them many times on the Celebrity Eclipse and they recommended Celebrity as opposed to P & O which they didn't like. We had a concierge cabin on deck 10 and therefore received an invitation on embarkation to a lunch for concierge guests in the main dining room prior to sailing. We went along as we thought we ...
This was our fifth Celebrity cruise but our first one on the Silhouette and the seven night cruise was to conveniently extend our holiday to nearly three weeks .We had disembarked the P&O Aurora after a twelve night Canary cruise on the 1st Sept so it made the travel from Scotland more worthwhile to have another seven nights cruising.
It worked out that the Silhouette was leaving ...
I have lucky to have cruised quite a bit over the last 15 years, on a number of different ships and different cruise lines. With PO I have experienced Azura, Britannia and Oceana but I am sad to say that over the years I have seen a steady decline in the cruising experience offered by PO.
I was able to experiance the Azura in its ingrual year and a quite a few times since. Although it ...
Love Norway good memories of deceased partner. The food left a lot to be desired often only warm, uninspired boring. Had one meai in beach club excellent as was the service, 2 meals in self service very nice. Was put on a singles table disaster I was a man paired with 5 women ranging between 65ish to mid nineties could not gat a dcent conversation disaster. I am a very outgoing person and have ...
This was our 7th Royal Caribbean cruise, and we chose this Russia and Scandinavia sailing because of both the cruise line and the itinerary. It was also our second sailing on Explorer of the Seas, so we have had prior experience with RCCL.
Our overall impression (which we seemed to share with many fellow guests) was that standards had been allowed to drop by RCCL.
Meals in the Sapphire ...
