The Good (lots of it) and sadly the Bad

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Crown Princess

Embarkation: VERY GOOD. We were on the ship within 25 minutes of dropping off our bags. Note for when sailing out of San Francisco, the port is off The Embarcadero and there was heavy traffic getting to the pier. We made the mistake of dropping off our luggage on the street a block south of the pier because of the traffic. If we had waited 5-10 more minutes, we could have dropped it off ...

This was our fourth carnival cruise. Our second cruise on the miracle. we loved the miracle and the staff and the food and everything so so much the first time around we decided to do a second trip on the miracle about a year later. Embarkation went smoothly. Our cabin was nice. The bed was comfortable. The water was hot. Our room steward was fantastic as always. The food was good. The ...

Elevated dining experience on crowded ship

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Crown Princess

DINING: This was our second Princess Cruise and the experience that impressed us the most was the elevated cuisine in the main dining room (Botticelli). Having previously sailed on Celebrity (Millenium), Holland America (Zuiderdam), Cunard (Queen Elizabeth), and Princess (Ruby), I would have rated Princess at the bottom of the list for dining. After this cruise on the Crown Princess, I would now ...

Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Koningsdam

My wife and I try to take a “find the Sun” activity around February to get away from the Northwest Indiana winter. This year it was the 18 day Hawaii from San Diego back to San Diego. This was also our fourth HAL cruise in five months. With over 50 cruises under our collective belts, this one goes down toward the bottom of the list. HAL cannot be held accountable for the weather and I do not ...

Koningsdam 18-night Hawaiian Cruise

Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Koningsdam

We were in a mid-ship Neptune Suite across from the Neptune Lounge. We are both in our mid-to-late 70’s and are 4-star Mariners with Holland American. This was our 8th HAL cruise, all of which have been in Neptune Suites. We left San Diego on January 27, 2024 for an 18-day round-trip cruise to Hawaii. If this had been our very first cruise, I might have rated this a bit higher. But when ...

A Massive Letdown

Hadn’t been on HAL since 2004 but had six prior cruises under my belt starting in 1995- all of which I had really enjoyed. This cruise was easy driving distance from home and Costco travel had a great deal for a balcony with HIA included, which is how we chose it. In the last six years, have cruised on Celebrity and Cunard- and based on the price point and the market positioning, expected ...

very disappointing

We chose this cruise because we've enjoyed Holland America cruises in the past, and because the itinerary was what we were looking for. Sadly, Holland America has declined sharply in recent years. This cruise was like staying in a second-rate Las Vegas hotel: *smokey casino, with smoke drifting into other areas of the ship *deafening music in all the music venues *no classical music ...

Not the HAL we once knew!

Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Koningsdam

Hawaii was on our bucket list and we had the time for 16 days. HAL made it seem longer! This was cruise 17 for us. Third on HAL. No rookies here! On all the best lines e.g. Viking. HAL has cut back too far. Loss of Lincoln Center is a good example. $4 extra charge for orange juice is another. Cruise featured chaos at embarkcation and 3 1/2 hour delay in leaving SAN. During cruise ship had ...

First off I’ve been on 18 past cruises several lines .. No beginner here! Went aboard open minded , street fights while in line to board. 6 hour delay in ship taking pasangers. Ok this is life. Conditions change in ports. Ok .. but. Finally boarding elderly/ handicapped folks got no expedited assistance from port folks. Zip nada wait in line sucker. Nothing ! Felt like a rock concert. Was ...
