Pride of America review

Review for Pride of America to Hawaii

We just got back from our June 25th cruise and here are our observations. Hopefully, some of these tips will help some of you planning your cruises. We traveled with 2 adults and one teen. It was very strange when we arrived to check in that there was nobody there. You definitely could tell this cruise was sailing with a low capacity. Highlights were the hardworking staff and the lack of crowds. ...

Hawaii cruise post pandemic

Review for Pride of America to Hawaii

I cruised NCL Pride of America in Hawaii from June 18-25, 2022 after spending five days on Oahu. After reading reviews about the cruise especially since it resumed in April 2022, I was prepared for the reduced number of dining options, reduced bar hours, reduced number of staff, etc. There was only about 40% passenger capacity which made the time we spent on the boat excellent and better than ...

Ok- I love Norwegian but this just isn’t their best. So far, we’ve made it to Maui. Which is a whole other post. First, COVID understaffing. I get it. NCL sent an email that they were understaffed and two restaurants were not going to be open. Fine. But NCL should have said that many of the bars would not be open and the pool restaurant as well. NCL should have at least offered a discount ...

We were so excited to go on this cruise as it was our first family vacation in over 4 years. We have cruised several times before and have always had a positive experience. This was the first time we had gone on a cruise with Norwegian, but we had heard so many good things about this cruise line I didn't expect all the issues we had! This was the first time I have travelled internationally ...

We used the NCL Promotional Air - Most everyone had to as there are only two scheduled flights to Tahiti per day. They got us to LAX then had 3 maybe 4 charter flights to Tahiti. Lucky for us we were on one of the latter flights that was maybe 2/3 full so we could spread out. The seats in the economy section of the “Air Tahiti Nui” Airbus A310 were most uncomfortable. We arrived with no ...

Excellent service on the ship. Small ship, not too many people, this is good. Too many giant screens, not necessary at all especially when listening to a band playing music. The band Hotwire is excellent, if you want to dance. Disappointed that all communication are in English only. On other companies it is in multiple languages. Food was just ok. Japanese and Italian restaurants ...

Excellent Ports of Call, Mundane Days at Sea

Review for Norwegian Spirit to Hawaii

Chose this cruise for the unique opportunity to see both French Polynesia and Hawaii, and the ports of call did not disappoint. What did disappoint was the lack of effort and variety that comprised activities while at sea. With 4 straight days at sea, we were hoping for a full option of things to do, but the daily itinerary was pretty much recycled from one day to the next. There were not a lot of ...

Worst cruise I've ever been on

We had issues from Day 1. We were on Pride of America. They announced that staterooms were ready on our floor; we went to our stateroom to find that housekeeping had given up on our room - it was a complete mess and when our son used the toilet, it overflowed and would not stop. They did move us to another room (did that right!). But then it became clear that the ship was completely ...

Good Sampler of The Islands

This was our first time to Hawaii. The cruise was a simple option to get to see all 4 islands without dealing with the hassle of flights and hotels and transportation. Many things were closed. Several specialty dining, East Meets West, shaved ice cream bar, Liberty. We only ate at Skyline one night and it was terrible. Pasta was dry, chicken was tiny and sweet potato cubes were like rocks. We ...

This was on my wife’s bucket list and her birthday and as of May 28th 2022 the ship wasn’t ready. They set capacity at 40 % and a little over 400 crew members out of over 900. The food other than the 2 open specialty restaurants that you pay for extra, even with package you pay a up charge for surf and turf. The entertainment was terrible,I’ve been to a karaoke bar been better. The staff did a ...
