Not enough time in ports, too little control over your day

Review for Viking Idun to Europe - River Cruise

We chose this cruise because we had never tried a river cruise before and Viking seemed to be a popular option. They provided an included excursion at each city they stopped in, and we felt it was nice not to pay for every excursion. Finding the Cruise - Call for Better Pricing Our experience when we got to Amsterdam was really mixed. We were not provided with the exact location of the boat, ...

Although no stranger to cruising this was our first river cruise in Europe. We took up Ama's offer for a free cruise for Front Line Workers. We enjoyed every minute of this cruise and its ship, the Ama Certo. Upon arrival we were made to feel welcome. Our stateroom was excellent and we enjoyed sailing with the windows open at night. We were fortunate that the weather was comfortable and the ...

Not So Grand European

We wanted to experience the view from all 3 rivers, however Viking closed the upper deck for 6 days. I understand why but we would have selected another itinerary had we known this. My biggest dissatisfaction was the fact that the reason we take Viking is for their Enrichment and Shore Lectures. None of this existed on the River. The Aquavit Terrace that is advertised as another restaurant ...

Belgium and the Netherlands are particularly beautiful in the Spring when daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, muscari, and primroses are in bloom. I went on this cruise primarily to visit public parks, private gardens, commercial bulb fields, and specialty gardens. All of these, particularly the Keukenhof Gardens, were wonderful but there was so much more! Everyday in the ports, I felt as if I were ...

We chose this cruise as we’d had such a wonderful Danube cruise on Crystal Mozart in 2019. Unfortunately this AMA waterways cruise was not quite in the same league, but as it included travel and transfers we decided to give it a try. We found the ship reasonably comfortable with very helpful staff. Included excursions were good , but many geared to the active, involving hikes and biking. We ...

There was absolutely so much to love, I am not sure where to begin. Cruising during COVID? That's a good place to start. I felt comfortable that the health of every person on the ship was of paramount concern. Guests complied with mask policy and the staff all wore masks properly at all times. The staff. The staff was just incredible. Hospitality is their specialty and they are experts. It ...

We did the 14 days cruise from Giurgiu to Vilshofen. It was a great experience, we met nice people and the on board personnel was exceptional. I want to mention, particularly, Dajana Jakovac our first cruise manager; Sergio, the front desk; Boris the dining room director, Djivko, the Hotel manager; Rui, the sport director, the captain and all the staff that was really incredible. We spent ...

My husband and I had talked about a European river cruise for years, and we finally did it! We had heard goid reviews of Ama and loved the destinations on this cruise. We were not disappointed. The crew of the Ama Certo are awesome, particularly Marius, Diana, and cruise manager Wei Ler Gan! We were treated so well. We have such memories of Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna, Durnstein, ...

We enjoyed the Avalon Romantic Rhine Cruise for our anniversary four year ago and tried the Christmas Market cruise on the Danube two years ago. We enjoyed both so much we did the Avalon Rhine Christmas Market cruise in December 2019. The ship itself is beautiful. The crew was very professional and nice. We reserve the same cabin category on each cruise so we know what we are getting and ...

This was our very first cruise and chose it because it was short (time wise) and the boat small (people wise). We would definitely sign up for another cruise as it is a great way to see multiple places that we probably wouldn’t see if traveling by land. Regarding this cruise in particular, Basel, Colmar, Strasbourg, Heidelberg & Speyer were absolutely beautiful! We are considering a Danube cruise ...
