Certainly a lot different from what we expected (long)

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Norwegian Star

Saturday, September 23 I am John and my wife, Eve, took this cruise after spending a day touring London. The drive to the port from our London hotel was 2 hours away. NCL wanted everyone on board by 2 pm, so we knew it would be tight. We were making good time until we got off and hit Southampton local traffic, then everything turned to a crawl. Later, we found that there was a boat show going ...

A Return to Celebrity Silhouette

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Celebrity Silhouette

It’s been a year since we cruised with Celebrity, and two years since we sailed on the Silhouette. So we were looking forward to this 8 night northern Spain and France cruise. The embarkation process was smooth, speedy and hassle free - we were on board within minutes of arriving at the terminal. However, being reunited with our luggage wasn’t without problems. Having waited several hours ...

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Celebrity Silhouette

We were looking forward to our first time sailing with Celebrity having previously tried P&O, Ambassador and Cunard (mainly TA on current QM but 1 med cruise on current QE) On TA crossings several people we've spoken to have commented that Celebrity's food was much better than Cunards so we were especially looking forward to the dining. We've always enjoyed the food on Cunard and found Ambassadors ...

Great trip but COVID!

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Celebrity Silhouette

Mostly enjoyed our second trip on the Silhouette. Food and entertainment were great and staff very friendly and helpful. The staff member for our room he could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Unfortunately for the second time (we have only had two cruises!) we both contracted COVID which ruined the last couple of days (I was unable to visit Bayeux - the highlight of my trip). Upon ...

This was my second cruise with Costa. First one was with Smeralda . Check-in and access of the cabin worked well. Deck 2 insides. The journey from Copenhagen Danmark to Tarragona Spain went perfectly. The cabin was okey, interior grey but the bed was really good. The food is varied, the breakfast and lunch buffet is tasteless ,hot food is cold when you have found somewhere to sit. Restaurant ...

A cut back too far.

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Ventura

We’re experienced cruisers but our first time on P&O. We’d always believed P&O to be a cut above the rest but our experience on Ventura fell short of expectations. There’s nothing basically wrong with P&O Ventura but it didn’t “wow”. It all felt a bit pedestrian, service reduced to a minimum, no frills, no extras. Everything feels a bit lack lustre. Talking to other guests who have ...

Not a Superior Cruise

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

We chose this cruise because the itinerary was quite varied and promised a good overall experience in Europe, including 2 days in Iceland. We had also heard that NCL was a good cruise line. Before the cruise: Spent several hours trying to book dining, shows and prepaying for services that we wished to have. Was able to book regular dining for some of the days aboard, including 4 specialty ...

Poor management - understaffed.

This was our fourth NCL cruise, but the first for quite a while preferring Celebrity and RCL but this itinerary included many of our “bucket list” ports, including Reykjavik and Lerwick (Shetland). It is very obvious that they are understaffed, and undertrained. The front-line help is courteous enough but not prepared or allowed to problem solve. There is lack of communication between ...

Dysfunctional Disorganized Disappointing Dawn

This was my 10th cruise with NCL,all on Breakaway Ships and one Baltic were very good to exceptional experiences. Dawn??? Chose this for itinerary which was very good overall. Buffet food sucked and with tours gathering at 7am theater, didn't open until 6:30. O'Sheehans and Room Service are closed 3:30 am to 6 am and 6:30 respectively. Early riser Topsiders mostly closed due to ...

Not what we expected

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Norwegian Dawn

We chose this cruise for the itinerary because my mom really wanted to go to Orkney. She usually cruises on Oceania and paid quite a lot for a balcony club room hoping it would measure up to her previous experience. She was awfully disappointed by the room and the ship. It was old, smelled terrible and the balcony glass was filthy. No USB, few plugs and a cramped, dark closet with no lighting in ...
