South Pacific, some good, some not so good.

Nightmare

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Crown Princess

Chose cruise for destinations and celebration of 50th our anniversary and a 75 birthday. Food very average. I compared it to a step up from the Golden corral. Formal night diner proportion and selection undesirable and embarrassing to us for the wait staff to serve it. Overall communication insufficient. No Port talks as to what to expect or what to do if not on an excursion. Pay as you go ...

A disappointing cruise experience

The Crown Princess is an aging ship in need of some updating. Staterooms and public areas look past their prime. Some upholstery shabby, décor dated. Dining room menu seems to be in rotation every few days. Nothing of interest or originality. Poorly prepared at times and often smothered with some gravy or sauce seemingly meant to cover up what lies beneath. One of the more common offerings ...

We chose this cruise as my retirement cruise. My wife and I met in Pago Pago 37yrs ago and wanted to go back. After spending enough time there,we figured this was the best way to revisit where we met. We live in Honolulu and have been to Apia, and Tahiti. We hadn't been to Moorea or Bora Bora before and later Bora Bora was cancelled and a extended Papeete stay was scheduled. We booked on ...

Amazing South Pacific Cruise!

We embarked in the World Cruise Port in San Pedro, California. It was very fast and easy which was great. We had received our Medallions by mail, so it made it quick. I had bought 4 airtag wristbands online and they fit the Medallions perfectly. The Crown is not one of the new Princess ships, but she is wonderful just the same. Everything was kept clean and polished, and I enjoyed the wood and ...

We chose the cruise because of the itinerary, travelled with two friends. We were all platinum members. We were looking forward to a relaxing time and excited for the planned stops. Stops at Bora Bora and Pago Pago were cancelled prior to the ships departure, very disappointing for many of the passengers. Understand this was out of Princess control. Embarkation at San Pedro was the easiest and ...

My wife and I love Princess cruises. We try to take them whenever we cruise. We have taken the Hawaii, South Pacific before and enjoyed it. This one was better then the last on, which was 5 years ago. Embarkation was fast and smooth. From the time we arrived at to cruise terminal until we were on the ship took 15 minutes. I was concerned because my wife was considered unvaccinated so I thought ...

I was offered onboard credit for being a veteran. The security was not handled properly and my wife's bag was lifted. It was not returned until we had occured over a thousand dollars is bills from the ship medical staff and 16 day from departure. Several request were made to look for the bag at customer service, but after being told the bag was aboard I signed for it. The ship's officer said ...

Great experence with Princess. Great service. Excursions were excellent. Food one of the best for this type of cruise. Dining options excellent. Buffet was good quality and the service line was very efficient. Cabin was very clean and the service was above standard compared to Holland American. Questions handled extremely efficient and very professional. Seperate dining was excellent. ...

My wife and I chose the cruise because we had never been to the South Seas before, and didn't want long air flights. 18 days at sea left us a little bored, but there was no shortage of activities and excellent lectures on board. Also, we were able to read a few books, have great meals, and enjoy island activities. Embarkation and Disembarkation went smoothly. The ship was clean and well ...

The weather in the South Pacific makes for the ideal cruise vacation.

I have sailed at least six times over the past 20 years in the South Pacific and always found the conditions ideal for a relaxing 'disconnect' from all the distractions at home. I retired about 3 years ago so when I started shopping for a new cruise this past fall the length and location of this particular cruise seemed perfect. Last minute discounts for new bookings was also very helpful since ...
