The ship is excellence , clean and comfortable. Entertainments all are boring and good for children!! Food is very good ,everything were fresh and tasty.very good made pastry . Excursion which booked by ship all are very expensive and the tours take you anywhere they prefer ,there are lots of private tours when you arrive to any island with very good price, only you should pay cash . The stuff all are polite and helpful ,execpt the tour manager . Almost all passenger were old age!! The medallion is very helpful and smart way to embankment and disembark smoothly fast and easy , the medallion is the best option for oping your cabin or find your partner any where in ship. The restaurants almost sever anything you can find in the buffet ,and all menus are the same. Use taxi from airport to ship or ship to airport very fast only 20 dollar, ,booking with ship cost you two times more . I wish the swimming pools water were heated, water was very cold. Read Less

i took this cruise because i always wanted to go to the southern caribbean. i have cruised princess many times however this ship was the worst. the buffet food was horrible , the ship is rusting, the furniture is scratched and broken. i would never recommend this ship to anyone and wish i know the condition before i booked it. the islands are beautiful, the weather was great. Oh i forgot to tell you the entertainment was the worst i have seen on any princess cruises and the theater was old, seats smelled, and room smelled. we go on princess because the entertainment is always out of this world but not on this ship. the cabin was good, beds new and great the best pillows. i would go to the southern caribbean again but not on the Crown Princess. Wait until the Sky Princess does the southern again . have great cruises Read Less

My wife choose this for our honey moon we are both in our 60"s. This was a perfect cruise for us, the entertainment was great,. the comedians did all clean comedy and we laughed from start to finish. it was some of the best comedy I have ever heard. The food was way above our expectation, as good as we have ever had. Our main dining room table attendants were perfect with service, communication, interaction and humor as well, they made us feel as if we were royalty. we looked forward every night to going to dinner and savor the great experience. Our stateroom was always kept in perfect condition with new towels I think 4 times a day and a bucket of ice for our beverages, fresh daily. The Medallions really made paying easy, a perfect record of expenses, great to use anywhere on the ship and for finding friends and locations of anything, a great new addition. Now I would hate to go a cruise that did not have them. Read Less

We chose this cruise mainly for the ports, three of which we had not been to before. This was our 19th cruise...third time on Princess. The cost was very reasonable. We were a little discouraged after booking, as there were several negative reviews of this ship. Sometimes I think more people write reviews who are discouraged with a cruise than those who were pleased with it. But I'm happy to say we were pleasantly surprised with everything. The food was very good, we enjoyed the shows, the ports, and the crew did a great job. We love to dance, and enjoyed spending time in the lounges with the good entertainment. There were some worn areas such as the elevators, but it didn't take away from our enjoyment. Weather was fantastic which always helps! It was the first time we did an Inside cabin. We weren't claustrophobic as I had worried about; however, we decided we will probably go back to Oceanview, as we like some light in the cabin, particularly when I'm trying to put on make-up. Embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. We took advantage of the $25/pp fee in which your luggage is sent directly to the airport after putting it out the last night, and you don't have to bother with it till you arrive back at your airport. Would definitely recommend this ship. Read Less

I choose it because I would be in Aruba for my 75th birthday and I love Aruba. The age of the passengers was old old old. Not my cup of tea. I would not recommend princess if you want a younger crowd. They were also lacking in movie under the stars and some interesting activities on sea days and half port days. I understand that the ship is going in for another refurbishing in March. It needs it. I’ve been on 16 other princess cruises and I recommend doing the Royal, regal, or their newest ship as a lot more is offered. The explorers lounge had some great acts and games but never enough room for all the people. They should have used the fusion lounge as it is much bigger. Being out on deck I expected more from the movies under the stars and much time nothing was happening. Also, in the cabins there should be music stations for those wishing to just have some music without watching the tv screen. Read Less

Our opinion is that Princess has been sliding downhill since being purchased by Carnival. The dinner menu is small with fewer choices and the food is getting worse. All but one meal that we had was overcooked and tough. It takes a lot to make corn on the cob tuff to chew. The good thing about Princess is they have the Medallion Services to simplify your cruise. For those that are saying we don't know about cruising. This was out 9th Princess cruise and our 19th overall cruise. As always the crew is superb and very helpful. They do not push the specialty restaurants like other cruise lines do unless the food is doing that for them. The buffet has been redesigned over the years and is now two buffets separated by a wall causing a lot of pushing and bumping into by guest trying to get their food. The Medallion has streamlined the boarding and deboarding process. Read Less

Try not to put too much stock in negative reviews. Contrary to the opinion of some, Crown Princess does not seem at all "tired or worn" to me. Here's what I did see in my recent cruise. The ship is immaculately clean. The staff does a great job in the public areas as well as the cabins. I have been on several cruises on several cruise lines. I tend to gravitate to Princess because I like the laid-back cruise style, but yes, if you want to do belly-flops in the pool and trivia, or even Bingo, you can do them on this cruise. One of the things I would note is that Princess tends to decorate in a more sophisticated and neutral color scheme than do some other cruise lines with their garish color clashes. The cabin in particular is done in very neutral colors which some might find "tired" but I don't. I want my eyes to rest and enjoy, just as the rest of me does. Anyway, the embarkation process was simple and fast. I had not received my Medallion (Princess' key card and other functions as well) in the mail and had to take time at check-in to get it. I think the whole process from de-busing to on the ship may have taken 15 minutes. There was only a slight amount of "herding" which I detest. Our cabins were not quite ready upon embarkation, so we got a spot to eat at the buffet. Yes, Princess buffets are smaller than the ones you may find on other ships, but if you leave hungry, you must be from another planet. The food is good and varies day-to-day. Most meal-times there's a carving station as well as many and vairied main dishes. If you like to make salads you can, or you can eat an already mixed salad. There are soups (some of which I liked and others not-so-much). Lots of breads and sandwich making stuff along with freshly made sandwiches. Of course there are desserts as well. I never had a problem finding a table, or getting service for a drink while on this cruise. Might as well talk about the dining room. My wife and I prefer fixed seating at a large table. We meet good folks and have the same servers every dinner time. Breakfast and lunch are open seating. As usual on Princess, we found the food to be well-prepared and seasoned. Hot food was hot and cold food was cold. Without exception, it was all good. The portion sizes were sometimes small, but it was never a problem to order more. We enjoyed the company and meals without exception! It does take some degree of effort to read the Princess Patter (plan of the day) to find out which venues are open at which times. The same is true for shows and there are lots of them. We thought the level of artistry was better with the performers this year as compared to recent years passed. We had a balcony cabin. It is small on Princess ships, but has everything we needed. Our room only had a desk chair. Somehow the other chair in the pictures didn't materialize. No worries, we don't spend that much time in the room. The steward made up the room every time we left. We had a problem with no hot water in the shower the first day and the plumber came and fixed it within a half hour of reporting. Without any exceptions the officers and crew of the Crown appeared happy to be there. The service was always with a smile and fast. Room service was great. There were only problems with elevator waiting times on the first day. After that things settled down. The ports on the Southern Caribbean cruise were varied. We missed Princess Cay, but did port in St Thomas, Dominica, Bonnaire, and Aruba. You know we didn't "beach" much, but went on Princess excursions to view various island sites. Some were good, some were a bit cheesy, but all were fun! Were there bumps in the road? Sure and there are on all cruises. Did some things look worn on the Crown? Well, there was some damage from luggage carts, but we feel that's to be expected. There was some rust visible on the balcony, but that's to be expected when metal parts come into contact with sea air. If you like the climbing walls, go-cart tracks, hang-gliding, water slides, and the like, you won't find them on Princess. BUT you won't have trouble finding things to do that will suit you. Oh and yes, Princess has chair hogs around the pools and like other cruise lines, has never found a good way to deal with them. So, I rate this cruise 4 stars. I would do it again on this ship. I’ve enjoyed cruising on Crown Princess before but this trip was not up to par. One of the generators was out and we skipped the stop at Princess Cay because the ship couldn’t run fast enough to make the next port. After St Thomas the wind picked up and due to high seas we skipped Antigua. Understandable. We made next two ports and then skipped St. Kitts supposedly because of the weather. However, two other ships were able to dock. I think they couldn’t get back to Ft Lauderdale in two days under reduced power. This was a big disappointment. The company gave us 35% credit of the cost of this cruise toward another one plus $75 for missing Princess Cay. I felt we should have had at least 50%. The ship is showing wear and tear and now mechanical failure. I recommend sailing with Princess but would wait on the Crown Princess until dry dock repairs in November. In reading other reviews, the generator has been out since at least November. I enjoyed the food and had excellent service from our wait staff. We ate in Sabitini's (not a fan of the menu) and Crown Grill--love it. They have a pop up Crab Shack that we eat at every cruise--it's a delicious menu. Entertainment included a first class comedian and a fabulous pianist. We listened to his workshop presentations on the tv. There were several big production numbers. The cruise director did a lot of scrambling to fill the 3 unexpected sea days. Speaking of TV, the service went out several times including in the middle of the championship football game. Heard this problem from several other cruisers. The medallion service was a nice addition. we could keep up with our fellow travelers easily. It didn't work properly all the time. The ship is looking tired with stains and scrapes. One of the elevators was out of service the entire cruise. I love the Boss Underwater Scooter in St. Thomas. It's pricey but so much fun! It's the only excursion we did this time as the other ports were cancelled. Read Less

Thirty eight years ago we boarded Royal Caribbeans Sun Viking for the first of 46 cruises.. On this January 16, 2020 we see the lights of Ft Lauderdale as we sail up the Stranahan channel on this warm Florida morning. The reality of the moment is here. We are now in our 80's and the rigors of travel have finally caught up. This is our " LAST CRUISE." We chose our favorite ship, Crown Princess. She fits us like a glove. This is a review of the trip. On Jan 6 we boarded our Delta jet for our flight to Fort Lauderdale. Weather in Detroit was 33 degrees. Upon arrival in Fort Lauderdale it was 72 degrees. We arrived at the terminal, picked up our Elete Medallons and were quickly in our stateroom, B632 aft. Our room was very pretty with new carpets and soothing colors. Our Steward left much to be desired. Lets leave it at that Special note: On Jan 6, prior to sailing, we were advised due to mechanical issues that Princess Cay would be cancelled and we would have 2 sea days enroute to St Thomas. On Jan 9 we were again advised due to 40mph gale force winds that the Port of Antiqua is cancelled. On Jan 13 the Port of St Lucia is cancelled due to 50mph gale force winds and we would be sailing 3 days back to Port Everglades. The end result was on this 10 day cruise, we would have 6 days at sea. We did encounter very rough seas and would proceed to Barbados. We were ok from Barbados to St Lucia. Enroute to ST Kitts we were advised due to 50mph gale force winds the port is cancelled and we would sail 3 days back to Port Everglades. On this 10 day cruise, 6 days were spent at sea. We tried to explain to the first time cruisers that this does happen but it was unusual for this time of year. The Crown. This was our 5th time on the ship. She was refurbed in 2016 but we did notice she was wearing a bit around the edges. Some carpet was showing wear in spots. A few carpet seams we coming apart. We did notice the overhead on our balcony was showing a lot of rust, something we had not seen before. We did have problems with our balcony door and a television that kept turning it's self off. We learned the meaning of the term "Reboot." Overall she is in excellent condition. There was a much to do if you wanted to participate. Bingo and many trivia games through out the day. In the beautiful Atriun there was always something going on both day and in the evening. The computer room was always busy. Movies Under the Stars was popular. Do a lot or do little. Thats the beauty of cruising. Service on board was 5 star +. Dining rooms, Horizion Court, The Main Desk including the entire Crew. Princess has the best service of any cruise line on which we have sailed. This being our cruise #46 we have visited these ports on many occasions. St Thomas for example, 21 times. We did not take any tours but visited the port side shops. The early days of cruising all Eastern Caribbean cruises visited Nassau, San Juan and St Thomas. Times certainly have changed ! Food is subjective. We would rate it good but not great. We only ate in the Da Vinci dining a few nights. One night service was very slow. The menu included soups, salads and a nice variety of Entrees The Horizon Court was a different story, breakfast was not the greatest. Easy over eggs always cold. Link sausage cold half the time. However there was always a good variety of food. Breakfast in the dining room was always good, nice selection and food was always hot. Lunch and dinner in the Horizon offered many choices, mostley good. There was always a different theme each night. I lived at "Slice" the best pizza at sea. The Salty Dog pub offered great hamburgers, hot dogs, fries and chicken sandwiches etc, This is just our opinion and we are sure other passengers saw it different. Service was A+ in the Horizon. Princess also had two Pub Lunches. Real British food. Princess entertainment has always been tremendous. They had a couple of great comedians, two excellent girl singers and of course the big Production Shows,Magic to Do and Blame it on the Boogie. We would like to mention A J Clark. He played the piano and sang. He packed the Princess Theater and the Explorer Lounge when he appeared. He also gave two lectures on the "American Songbook." Outstanding ! British Pub Night in then Explorer Lounge was great fun for all. Princess knows the entertainment business. We did a few kids around the ship but beyond that we are unable to comment. It is difficult to say "last" cruise but there comes a time when you must face reality. The reality of aging. We stand on deck this warm morning having faced this reality. Are we sad ? Heavens no ! My bride of 62 years and I have been blessed to sail on so many cruise ships. Psalms 107 says, "They that go down to sea on ships see God's works and the wonders of the deep" We have witnesses these wonders 46 times. How many people can say that ? For Embarkation we tried Princess" EZ Check." For $25 pp we filled out a form and turned it in at the Main Desk. The final night we received printed Boarding Passes along with special Luggage Tags. Our luggage was picked up outside our stateroom and the next time we saw it was at Detroit Metro This also allows you to disembark anytime you choose, first, last or in between. When we arrived at Ft Lauderdale Airport, we showed our boarding passes and Passports to TSA and went directly to the Security check point then to our boarding gate It has been our pleasure to share our cruise Read Less

We went down on the 10 day To Barbados as a nice warm area there. We liked the time of year in January to escape the snows at home. Princess has good reviews and the cruise and food was great! We ate one night in the steak house and it was great and only cost an extra $28. Apiece and an excellent meal! All of the dinners in the main dining room were great every night! A good menu with a wide variety of selections and every night a new menu was very nice! The dining service was superb by our waiter Joel! Don’t buy the bar drink package it is overpriced at $700. Apiece and you can’t share it. No way could we have drank the 15 drink a days it offered! Our whole bar bill for 2 of us was less than that! And do bring on your own case of water and 2 bottles of wine for your room. I don’t like paying $2. Plus for bottles of water 5x a day! The spa was great I had several massages and Mildred the masseuse is the best! The daily lectures were very good to by staff. The fitness center was great and Igor the trainer was great! Very few come to the classes and it was really worth buying the class card as you get individual attention and training! The fitness center and spa are very clean to! The stateroom was very clean and twice daily service was very nice! Our steward Joel on the Emerald deck was great and the best ever! Since our cruise could not stop at 3 ports due to bad weather then Princess gave everyone a 35 percent credit off next cruise to use within a year. I thought this was very nice of them! I will definitely cruise with Princess again the service and food was superb! Read Less

We love the Princess ships, food, staff, entertainment and itineraries. I say no matter what because even with us not being able to dock at 3 of the 6 ports due to weather conditions and mechanical problems with a generator, Princess did a great job of making up for it by giving us a good discount to apply on a future cruise. I’ve heard of other cruise companies not doing this, so that’s another good reason to choose Princess. Let me also say that the food was excellent, in both the dining rooms and the buffet as well as the specialty restaurants and fast food places. We had a fantastic hamburger at the Salty Grill and the pizza was really good too. Entertainment was first class and the steward for our room was a great guy, always with a smile on his face and asking if we need anything. We chose this cruise because of the dates it went out. We forgot that it was school vacation and that there would be so many children on board. Most of the children, the parents took very good care of them, but there were a few that the kids, especially two little girls kept running around the halls and bar area, dragging on the floor. The bartenders had to keep telling them to please not to do that, it was very annoying. Our cabin steward was very good and always there when we needed him. The food, however, was not our choice of food. At the buffet the food was cold and dry, the carving station, the meat had been cut ahead of time and it was dry or not the cut we liked. We only went to the dining room a few times, they didn't have enough tables for two and it took too long to get waited on. The first comedian was very boring, other than that the rest was good. Service was always very good. Ports and shore excursions good. Sad that we couldn't go to Grenada due to a problem with the ship. Always a problem with this ship. last time it was the thrusters and this time it was the generator. As far as going to Dominica, to me it's a waste of time, the dock is terrible and the downtown is like a third world country. We stayed on board. the other ports were fine. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate our anniversary. We've had good experiences with Princess in the past, and we liked the itinerary for this cruise. This was our second Christmas cruise, the other one being a couple of years ago on Celebrity Silhouette. Overall, we enjoyed this cruise (we always do), and I will try to give a brief rundown of what we found to be the pros and cons of this particular cruise. Pros: Although the Crown is showing her age, it was still quite well maintained. We had a mini-suite on the Dolphin deck (9), which was quite spacious, and the extended balcony provided space for foot rests. Also had a 3-cushion sofa, as opposed to the old love seats. The cabin steward was great, and the rest of the staff was extremely friendly and eager to please. We had a favorite bartender (William) on our Royal TransAtlantic 2017 cruise, and he was on this cruise as well. Great to catch up with him. The fridge was ice cold, compared to those on previous cruises (all the lines we have been on, including Princess). The Medallion worked great for us. Embarkation seemed well organized, and we boarded in a fairly short time. A HUGE highlight of our cruise was the Chef's Table. It was SPECTACULAR, and well worth the $190/couple uncharge. Now for the cons: My mattress was severely broken down, and I slept not a wink the first night. On the second day, they stuck a piece of plywood under it, but that didn't improve it much. They finally replaced it on the 3rd day. The TV in the sit-in area (where we preferred to watch it) worked sporadically. Our cabin steward rebooted it several times, but it still wasn't right by the end of the cruise. We had a free perk of a Balcony Champagne Breakfast, which looked lovely and plentiful, but was not hot and not especially good. We were grateful for it, but we wouldn't have paid the $45 uncharge had it not been a free perk. We were disappointed that there was no religious service (ANY Christian denomination would have been OK for us). We were told that the Cruise Director was doing something, or we could watch the Pope on TV at 1:00 PM. Maybe I'm being too picky, but we found the Christmas decorations lacking; probably because we were expecting something similar to what we had on the Celebrity Silhouette Xmas cruise (They did it up to the NINES). Disembarkation was a nightmare, because people opted to do as they pleased instead of proceeding as they had been assigned. Since we live near the port, and had left our car in Park 'n Go, we were stupid not to just wait until everyone was off and then just make our way off leisurely and drive home. We signed up for two Princess tours. The one to the Mount Gay Rum plantation, Signal Hill and the orchid garden was very enjoyable. The other one was St. John on Your Own", and it was basically a ferry from the ship over to St. John and back. The bad part was that we were lined up next to the ship in the hot sun for 1/2 hour, and then marched a long distance to an old tub of a boat (the name on the stern was half worn off, and it looked like a death trap to me). They were packing this mob into it. By then, we were the last ones in line (we are 74 & 78 years old), except for two elderly ladies behind us. We opted to drop out, rather than spend 45 minutes each way, packed into that enclosed boat. In fairness to Princess, they did refund our money, assuring me the "Nobody died today" (LOL). By far the biggest gripe we had about this cruise was the decline in the quality of the food since we started cruising with Princess in 2012. As I said earlier, the Chef's Table was magnificent. We also ate twice in the Crown Grill. The first time, my husband found his fillet (ordered medium) to quite dry, while my lobster tail was very good. The second time, his steak was good, but I was unable to cut up my bone-in sirloin. The big strong Maitre's saw my predicament, and cut up my meat for me, for which I was happy to tip him. Must say it was very tasty. However, my point is that we found the quality of the food has declined across the board. The MDR was the worst. The first night, the prime rib was very good, but one night I ordered a Cornish Hen that was not even browned, and was completely inedible. The turkey on Christmas Day was dry and tough. The pizza by the pool was still good, but the outside grill is nowhere near what it used to be. This overall opinion was shared by many passengers we spoke with. I will be the first to admit that I am a food snob. We like to cook, and it doesn't always have to be high-end, but we would rather stay home than eat sub-par food. We now have 47 days on Princess, and have pretty much decided not to progress to Platinum. We're booked on a Celebrity cruise in March, so we'll see how that works out. Read Less

My wife and I chose this cruise because we were looking to find a wider variety of age groups than we usually find when we cruise between holidays. The younger families and children add energy and excitement. Even if all you want to do is "people watch", that can be more fun and entertaining. This cruise offered some wonderful destinations for me to enjoy some of the more active things I like to do; sailing, hiking, kayaking, and snorkling/swimming. And while I protected myself off shore with sun block, my wife could read, rest, pamper herself in the Lotus Spa, or catch a movie. I love to sail, and I went again on a small Hobie Cat at Princess Cay. What a thrill! A boat ride at St. Lucia to the Pitons was gorgeous and the stop at a beautiful tropical beach capped off a perfect excursion. My wife had a manicure and pedicure that looked fantastic, but she thought they could have and should have used better polish for the pricey job, as her nails were showing wear after just a couple of days. The buffet was good, especially the little deserts that are portioned so you don't feel too bad cheating with a few samples. We dined on Christmas Day at Sabatini's Restaurant. Good food, beautiful surroundings, for this special occasion, but we both decided we prefer the typical Italian comfort food like lasagna, chicken parm, etc. over the very upscale Italian dishes. I think most people would really love the experience. Most of the entertainment was top-notch, but we felt the main production singers were not the best we've seen and their production with "Soul" music was a little laughable. After that show we agreed with many of the guests that it fell way below Princess standards. We loved the comics and magician and I thought the production musicians and dancers were top notch. The Voice of the Ocean is always fun, and the "mentors" were hilarious. Can't wait for our 2021 New Years cruise, booked while on board. Read Less

Crown Princess is a beautiful ship, but not beautifully designed, it is all very bland in colors and finishes. One area looks like every other area. Nothing unique or memorable. Cold, cold, cold ship.... cold in your state room, cold in the restaurant, cold in the common areas of the ship. Even with the 2 room thermostat’s set on high heat, the room remained extremely cold. It is a miserable environment to be so very cold for a 10 day cruise. Anytime Dining..... the Concierge and staff of the dining room (Michaelangelo or DaVinci) will make you wait 40 minutes or longer for a seat if you do not want to sit with other couples. They often tell you that you could be seated almost immmediately if you will sit at a large table of people rather than a table for two. Treatment by Wait Staff not that good. We visited Michelangelo twice and never returned. We ate at the buffet where there was less drama. As for Crown Princess Anytime Dining... for a couple of two it is non-existent. Even when you tried to make a reservation, reservations were only available at 5:00, 5:15 and after 7:30. State Room Servicing..... staff would often not come to the cabin if you were present in the cabin, so rather than servicing the cabin twice a day, it would only be once a day in the early evening. Sheets would not be changed half way through the cruise (5 days), so we had used, dirty sheets for the last 5 days of the cruise. Theater Shows..... most cruises have a few theater musical singing and dancing shows. This cruise kicked off the week with an Opera and 1 musical. But there were many comics. So, Crown Princess does not get high marks for entertainment. Pizza..... Carnival and Princess bragged about serving the best thin crust pizza. For Carnival it was definitely true on multiple cruises, but Princess it was definitely untrue. Pizza served was often cold and did not taste as good as they have in the past. Buffet Meals..... it seems that there were less selections of food that you could eat. It also seems there was a lot of pork served during the 10 day cruise. The salad bar was very good. Would have been nice to have the option to put tune fish on the salad. Food overall at the buffet was OK, but not as good as past cruises. The way the buffets area were arranged on the Crown Price meant that by 5 pm it was difficult to find an available table near the buffet entrance. This problem was primarily caused by the inability to go directly from the buffet area to either side of the ship. It also is a possibility that folks were abandoning the dining room and heading to the buffet. State Room Condition..... clean but extremely well worn. Bathtub bottom had numerous dark stains and there was grout that was turning black... I assume it was mold. Sofa cushions kept falling off the sofa. But, the bed had a soft topper that was much nicer than previous hard beds that were very uncomfortable. State room had 2 temperature control is units on the wall. We kept the temperature on the highest warm temperature, but it was always cold, cold, cold in the room. So cold, we had to order bathrobes and wear them inside the room at all times to stay warm. Patio door never locked properly because the handle was broken and could not be moved into a normal locking position. (I checked the door numerous time and the door was locked. One time the TV satellite would not work in port because of electronic interference, so Satellite TV was not available to watch if you decided not to leave the ship. Plenty of OnDemand TV shows to watch. Now, the show you were watching would pause every few minutes, so you would miss small segments of the show (this was an everyday occurrence). These were not live shows, but one stored on the ship to play when you wanted. This pausing also happened during Satellite TV Live Shows. Twice one of the TVs completely failed. The steward showed us how to unplug and then reconnect the TV to get it working again. Our in-room safe broke the second night in the room. It took 2 calls to Service to get someone to fix it which occurred the next day. Our toilet stopped working/flushing on two different days. It took about 3 calls to get this fixed on 2 different occasions. The light on the balcony never worked, but I did not call Maintenance because I am on a vacation. I felt as if no general maintenance should occur in the state rooms, and was up to the current resident of the room to get things fixed during their 10 days in the ship. Not Good! Room Food Service..... Excellent. Food was ordered via Medallion App on the TV and delivered so fast. This area of the ship was managed and executed exceptionally. Job well done! Effy Jewelry Shop..... rings seemed to be $5000.00 and over. I think most people on this cruise would leave these pieces behind - prices were just too expensive, especially when compared to similar items at various shops in the ports of call. Medallion..... Works very well. I observed no faults at all. Very useful in terms of embarking on and disembarking off the ship during port calls. Originally, when we enrolled in the Medallion program, we were told that we would have a fast check-in and check-off the ship. This is a bit of misinformation because if 300 people were in the line to check-in, it still took 30-45 minutes of standing in a long line to check in. Same thing with getting off the ship. So, part of the lengthy process has been solved, but definitely not the entire process. There are some bad parts of the Medallion..... State Room staff would check to see if a passenger were in their state room, and not come to clean the state room as scheduled until the passenger(s) left the room. If the passenger(s) did not leave the room until 1:00 pm, then the state room staff were gone from the floor, so cleaning the room only occurred in the early evening. If you want to have the ice bucket filled in the morning or afternoon, you are out of luck. The GPS of the Medallion is being over-used by Room Service a tad. An example would be.... I ordered a sandwich one afternoon in my husband’s name. I remained in the state room while my husband walked around the ship. Room Service was trying to catch up with my husband, rather than bringing the food to the state room. Eventually, Room Service did contact me in the State Room asking if I would accept the sandwich. So, this is an example of the Medallion users going a little nuts. Another example of the Medallion problem is the kiosks in the common areas of the ship. The kiosks had a timeline of all event happening on the ship. I placed my medallion on the kiosks to check an evening out, and my name and photo never disappeared from the kiosk. It remained there for the entire evening. This is a violation of my privacy. The Medallion also keeps your full name posted on your state room kiosk. Again, this is another violation of my privacy. If a single woman were in a state room, why would she want her single full name posted on her door kiosk. The fact is, she would not want to advertise there was only one person, a woman, in the state room. On port calls, shop personnel would often ask for your ship card when you were making a purchase. We don’t have ship cards, we have a Medallion. Nobody from the Crown Princess bothered to notify any shop in port about the Medallions. So, this was a bit of a problem. Bottom Line...... I am not sure that I want to go on another Princess Cruise. Extremely cold room, food and entertainment was uninteresting, lack of state room service, room having many issues, etc. Read Less

I chose the cruise for the ports and these ports of call because we had not been there before. We had cruised on Princess line before and gone on more than 20 cruises in the past, but this time had an exceptional 10 days and the vacation exceeded my expectations. This trip was great for the value we received. Yes, the decor was a little "tired" but the crew and their energy far made up for the old decor. We laughed, we played, we learned new things, we had a great week. I loved the crew and their hard work at keeping the ship clean. The food was exceptional in the dining room. The singers and dancers were excellent. They have a 24 hour International cafe were you can pick up cookies or pastries or desserts or even a light lunch. The medallion made the embarking process super fast. The cooking show with the gallery tour is something not to be missed. Very entertaining and enjoyable. Read Less

We decided to go 3 days prior to departure. No problem at all with check in. Traveling with 2 seniors. They do not have the medallion system working as well as it should. It was also useless for the seniors who are not into technology or smart phones. That did become an issue. Princess needs a backup plan for those seniors. We asked for no down feathers in the room and for 3 days we kept removing them every night. The ship had nothing interesting until the last 2 days of the cruise. On board entertainment was boring except for 1 comedian. After the first bingo game on the tables they brought back the paper cards. Food was better than previous cruises. One thing about the buffet, I am very allergic to shellfish and shrimp was on every section of the buffet. People were being relied upon to not cross contaminate, but that was a failure. I personally witnessed it happening many times with the serving utensils. Embark and dear went very well. Read Less

First family - friends- we got along just really good,8 in our group. We could all get together like dinner or go in separate direction. We had out suite at the rear of the ship. Many of our activities were froward. This gave us our walks everyday. You would think this was a negative thing but was vary positive for us.We were getting our walks in without ever noticing the energy-calories we were burning up. I personally only gain 2 lb. My wife brought her walking cane along and only us it a couple of times. The walk ways made for easy comfortable and safe trip out of the suite. Floor to floor, elevator were always close by.The little folded pamphlet with the photo of all levels and location of all main places, bar, restaurant, etc was by far our most convenient tool for finding places and how to get there. We are seniors with a vary short knowledge of electronic. A little old fashion ,I know! We will do this again High school sweet hearts, newly weds. We are in our mid seventies Read Less

Not pleased with most of the shows in the theater , only when the singers and dancers did their shows was it a good show. Not happy with entertainment on board when ship was in dock, nothing to do that was interesting for seniors. Even when not in dock, the variety was poor. Food in the buffet was to say the least horrible. the layout of buffet when it go busty was very confusing, you went in circles trying to find the right area you need fo get the food, it was small for the amount of people on the ship, not layed out very well, very confusing. public bathrooms, not taken care of very well, soap dispensers always empty and toilets stuffed of not working.. Jumped on the Crown at the last minute when the price plummeted and when we realized we had 10 open days before the holidays begin. Our last 4 cruises had been on newer and larger ships, so we lowered our expectations on several fronts. The positives: Nice size balcony, friendly and excellent service, good MDR experience, anytime dining was prompt with small wait times, good promenade deck, very little selling pressure, and Princess did a nice job on moving folks on and off the ship. The less positive: There are still plenty of kinks with the medallion usage, entertainment was average and not plentiful, buffet never seemed to have enough lines open or enough seating, and buffet selection was hit and miss. The ship has some wear and tear, but given the age of the ship, it was in good shape. We docked promptly at ports and sailed out right on time. For beach enthusiasts, there were excellent reasonable beach choices at every port. Breezes at each port helped make the beach days good. Princess Cay is in excellent condition. Overall, good value, good ports and a relaxing cruise. Read Less

I initially chose this cruise because of its itinerary. Unfortunately though the stops are very appealing, be sure to check the amount of time spent in each port; I found that some of the best ports only had a five hour dock. Also, this ship never disembarked on time along with the fact the majority of its guests are 70+ years of age and have assistive devices (even longer wait times and disembarkation times). Ship itself is average- nothing fancy, nothing extravagant. We spent the first 3 nights of our stay in a HOT cabin due to "AC issues". The dining for us was a huge disappointment. This ship happens have the smallest buffet area I have ever seen that served leftovers from previous days. The food is bland and lacks presentation. It would appear as though we're being served slop. My son and I had to rely on the Salty dog and Slice pizza to enjoy any meal. The ship was filled with individuals that have gotten free rooms (because they gamble in the casino) so they come across as ungrateful/bored/miserable people. My son hated this trip and told me he refuses to cruise again. I was robbed in Bonaire during an excursion. When I got back on the ship after spending my time in the police department filing a report, I needed to contact my bank. USAA was called for me however they needed to verify me with a text message or email. The ship refused to give me internet access for the moment to verify my account NOR did they ask me if we were alright! I was told we could purchase internet for the day rate of $20. At this point I felt Princess didn't deserve any more of my money so we stopped at a Starbucks on the next island. I will cruise with others again, but Princess is a HUGE disappointment. Read Less

Princess takes great care of suite passenger so we enjoyed breakfast in Sabatini's, club class dining, special room services menu items, priority spa reservations, room service on debarkation day and many other extras. We think the cabin price is worth it. We've never complained about quality of food on our many Princess cruises and this one was no exception. In fact, we thought food on this trip was particulary good. Club Class dining each night had a special tableside dish that was delicious each time. We visited the Crown Grill and Sabatini's for diner twice each during the trip and enjoyed truly exceptional meals and service. The crew we encountered was all top notch--friendly, cheerful, attentive and professional. I would have like to have ticked five stars above but we were very disappointed about having two of six ports cancelled. The culprit was the weather which of course is out of Princess's control but the complaint is how missing these ports was handled. We happened to be on a Princess cruise in the maritime provinces of Canada during Hurricane Sandy that caused several of the eastern seaboard stops to be cancelled. Rather than just bob about until it was clear to sail south, Princess found a couple of places for us to visit while we waited. In the current case, Crown Princess merely changed course and aimed to the next stop after a cursory announcement from the captain. It seemed to us that in the case of cancelling the Azores call, we could have remained at Lisbon to have the advantage of a full weekday ashore or stopping at Madeira. Surely the captain knew before we left Lisbon that Hurricane Lorenzo would keep us from the Azores, so we could have stayed at the dock. If we couldn't, an explanation of why not would have been the courteous thing to do. Likewise, an explanation of why Madeira couldn't be a substitute would have been appreciated, especially since we got close enough to that destination to transfer a medical patient from Crown Princess to a boat sent out from Madeira. We think the passengers deserved more than silence. One other minor gripe. Our coffee card from an earlier cruise was refused as having expired. At sale, the cards are advertised as being good on later cruises for specialty coffees and there's no mention of expiration. Pretty cheap on the part of Princess to declare one has expired. Read Less

We will have to laugh about this cruise, but want to let others know that a repositioning cruise might not be for everyone. It was unfortunate that we didn't have a better idea about what to expect, and what we want is to let others know, and perhaps avoid disappointment for them. We left from Southampton on Sept. 22, and sailed to Brugge/Belgium, where we had a great shore excursion. Then on to Isle of Portland, England. We were not able to dock there due to unsafe weather conditions. This is a great cruise for folks who enjoy staying onboard even during the stops at the ports, and just enjoy being on the ocean for many days at a time. My husband and I like a little more variety, and look forward to the shore excursions and learning about the people who live in the different ports. That just put us on the sea too many long days. We would suggest that the end of Sept. is too late to be in those parts. Also an older crowd on this ship. On to Burgundy, France, which was just not a great stop. The winery tour just didn't do it for us. Our next stop was Bilbao, Spain. We did dock, and had plans for a great shore excursion, but when we looked at our actual tickets, it was just too strenuous for us, compared to what we had read in the description. Other excursions were sold out, so, oh well...stuff happens. Now, on to Lisbon, Portugal, and that was a wonderful excursion, and a great day. The Azores Islands were our last scheduled port, and the one that we most looked forward to. Nope! Hurricane Lorenzo was headed there too, so we turned tail and sailed away. The captain made a great decision that time too, so we had 8 more days on the ocean. Ugh...don't take this cruise during hurricane season! Lucky for us, we met some great new friends, and had partners for Rummy 500 every day. Trivia is always fun. Performances at Princess Theatre were just a little too opera-like for our taste. We also had some nice, warm days on the deck in the shade. As you will see from my scoring, we were very happy with the crew, room steward and all of the great wait staff who were right there for us. The food was great, as usual... Some unfortunate events, which started with the fact that we boarded a ship full of sick folks in Southampton. They were carrying over from earlier cruises. Bad chest cold...everyone had the same horrible cough...others had some kind of flu, and had to be quarantined to their cabins. We got sick, yes, as careful as we were, but we got over it in a few days. Even had a couple of unfortunate folks who had to be evacuated from the ship due to illness. Our most huge mistake was not getting a balcony cabin. Our inside cabin was plenty roomy, but we needed fresh air in our cabin! The best item that we brought onboard was a fan! I am posting cabin photos. R515 interior cabin. Read Less
