Always wanted to do a British Isles cruise and the itinerary and dates worked well for us. We arrived one day early to Southampton and stayed at the Harbour Hotel and Spa--which I highly recommend. We did exploring around Southampton which was fun--turns out Southampton is nicer and more up-to-date than what I had imagined! Embarkation went great--got right on and bought my coffee card. I do wish Princess would find an alternative to the current method of keeping track--key card/medallion. I preferred the physical punch card. Our stateroom was C743--great balcony, really enjoyed it. Anytime dining went well, did have to wait a few times but it really wasn't a very long wait. Did make us appreciate Traditional Dining a little more in that you seem to have the more experienced servers there. There were several times when the hostess from Anytime Dining would walk us to Boticelli Dining room and we got to experience the service there. Overall the service onboard was good. We enjoyed the ports and our excursions but were not at all happy with how pricey they were. Seems like Princess has started to increase their rates and are definitely playing the game that hotels and airlines are playing--increasing the prices as time goes on. Disembarkation went great. We would go to this area again on our own and would only do this cruise again once we've gotten many more cruises under our belt. Read Less

We have never cruised with Princess but we liked the itinerary to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed! This is a fantastic cruise line. The embarkation was flawless. Our stateroom was ready upon arrival. Everything around the ship was clean always. The entertainment was fantastic. We kept busy going from one venue to the next, not to miss anything. Our favorite was Project 5. They interacted with the crowd and were great musicians. They dedicated a song to us for our anniversary. We were so impressed with the buffet line! So clean and not crowded. Never have seen that on any other ship. We like the any time dining and was seated with a fabulous server, Hardika. He made certain that our dining experience was over the top. The food was good but not fabulous in the Michelangelo. But we were never hungry! We met some of the nicest people on the cruise. The clientele was great. We tried to participate in as much as we could but there was plenty that we just couldn't do. Our room was always clean and in order. The food areas were always clean. The Salty Dog had great food, great pizza. Plenty of pools so there was plenty of shade and room in the hot tub and pool. Easy to get around the ship. Drinks were good. Ports were fantastic! It was so much fun. We will definitely go on another Princess Cruise. Disembarkation was a breeze. Very well organized by all. We were very impressed with all of it. Read Less

We wanted a relaxing time away and to warm up!!!. The crew was exceptional especially in the bars and international cafe The Salty Dog Grill had exceptional grilled food and offered a good variety. It could be substituted for main course if you don't want buffet or dining room. The dining room breakfast was good far better than dinner. Service at dinner was always slow. We really enjoyed the buffet. The dinner was different each night with a theme from different countries. It was exceptional. Dining room sit down was so so. Entertainment was fantastic and they offered a variety of venues nightly. The singer and dancers on this ship were very good and voices paired up very well. The highlights were the comedian and the ventriloquist. The both did two shows with the ship using the smaller venue stage which worked out great as they staggered start times between them and the main show in the princess theater. The ports were varied and offered a variety of choices to everyone. Read Less

Our cruise gang chose this cruise because of the less frequently visited islands on the trip. We enjoyed the 10 day cruise with 4 adjoining balcony cabins on Caribe deck. The extra large balconies allowed the 8 of us to gather together both morning for coffee from international café and evening over wine we brought along! We experienced the gambit from a day at the beach in Antiqua to our catamaran sail in St. Kitts. The crew was both entertaining and helpful in every way. The wine drinkers in our group enjoyed Vines bar and the beer drinkers liked the wheelhouse bar before dinner. We enjoyed both Crown Grill for awesome steaks and Sabatini's for delicious Italian ,as well as the dining room for excellent dinners. We found the entertainment to be varied enough for our group ,but the comedian was outstanding and we enjoyed both of his shows!! We found the crew to be fun loving and helpful in every way. We will be sailing with Princess again very soon. Read Less

My husband and I won this cruise at our Jack casino in Cincinnati, Ohio. This was the first time we cruised with Princess cruise line. We have enjoyed over 25 cruises over the last 25 years with Carnival, Royal Carribbean, Norwegian, Holland America and Celebrity. We flew into FLL airport day of the cruise and took a taxi to cruise terminal. The Princess Cruise line is extremely organized and we moved thru the embarkment process very quickly with employees stationed throughout telling us what to do and how to get aboard ship. We arrived around 1130 at the terminal and were aboard ship by 1pm. We ate at main dining room every night except for formal nights. Check the formal dress code before going to make sure you have the right clothing packed. Entertainment was fantastic, cruise director and his staff were great as well. The were all kinds of activities planned daily. Service both forcabin, di ing room and bar service was phenomenal. Disembarkation was well organized, painless and option to have Princess transfer our luggage to airport and check it for us was a pleasant surprise. We are in our early 60s and noticed most of the passengers appeared to be in their 70s on this cruise. Read Less

We chose this ship for ports or call and length of trip. We loved all the tucked away areas on the ship. The Sanctuary was quiet and enjoyable, we booked it for three half days. The restaurants were fantastic and the service provided by Antonio and Anthony was five star. We never visited any specialty restaurant because the food in the main dinning room was so delicious. Behind the fitness center is a free unisex sauna and steam room that can be used free of charge. The TRX classes lead by Dan were outstanding. We enjoyed the outside jogging track on 18 as long as people walking didn't get in the way. The shows were very good and we enjoyed all of them. The ports of call were our favorite. We went to Pirates Cove in Barbados, The Marriott in St. Kitts and in St. Lucia we did the "Joy Tour Excursion". They took us to the mud baths, waterfalls and finished up with a delicious local meal. Our tour guys Captain Phil, Nano and Jonathan were polite, informative and fun. Our least favorite excursion was in Antigua. We visited Church Valley Beach which was disappointing because the bar service and food were horrible and way overpriced. The steep slope to enter and exit the water was challenging for the ederly. This was our first Crown Princess Cruise. Our friends cruise with Princess on a regular basis and referred this ship. We we couldn’t have been more pleased with everything from checking in to disembarking. Every person that we came in contact with was more than helpful. Our room steward, Igor...Bartenders, Bruce, Viktor, William and Dragana. Every employee we passed in the hallway were smiling and friendly. There was so much entertainment on this ship and we loved it all! Just to name a few, Movies under the stars, the voice, ice carvings, fruit and Vegetable carvings. The buffet was excellent as well as all the other restaurants. We have cruised with other cruise lines and found this one to be far better. I thought there were very few children on this ship, however, when I stopped up on the sports deck 17, I saw the youth center & kids area! Very nice! We look forward to another trip soon on the Princess. Read Less

Good deal on an excellent ship. Nice Itenary. visiting fascinating countries. Food was reasonable and the staff was always professional. Would definitely cruise with Princess again. They demonstrated great attention to the details and kept their focus on the passenger. Princess personnel do a wonderful job with embarkation. The cruise begins when you get on board, Nice aptmosphere on a can well laid out boat. Ship size is excellent, not too big or small. Entertainment Director and staff are very good, enthusiastic, organized and committed to the passenger. On board games were fun and well managed. Ships entertainment was satisfactory. Generally the entertainers were good and performed great shows. The comedian was outstanding and the tigers and dancers were nicely trained and enjoyable. Dis embarcation was another strong point for Princess. It was fast, efficient and nicely managed. Excursions were well presented, fairly priced and managed very well. Service personnel were always close to answer questions or solve problems.] This was a very good experience for my wife and I we are looking forward to our next Princess Cruise. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we love Princess Cruises and we have sailed on the Crown Princess before. We have also sailed on a 14 day Mediterranean cruise but we wanted to experience new ports and this 21 day cruise afforded us 9 new ports we had never been to. So we jumped at the chance to take it. We went to 2 new ports in France, Marseille and Touloune, we went to Corsica, we went to 2 new ports in Italy, Livorno and Salerno, we went to Dubrovnik,Croatia which we really wanted to see, and we went to Olympia Greece. Other other three reasons we went on this cruise is because it included the ports of, Barcelona, Spain, Mykonos, and Santerini, Greece. We also picked this ship because it was going to be coming out of a three week dry dock rehab period to freshen up the ship with new carpeting, bedding, venues, painting, and branding. The ship was sparkling fresh and new. Read Less

We chose this cruise explicitly for the ABC islands and they didn't disappoint. Unique culture and flavor for each and we are already planning an extended stay at Aruba. The Crown is a bit tired, but this close to dry dock it was anticipated. No real complaints from us on the ship. Service was great, and all food was on par. Stand outs were the Ultimate Balcony Dinner, and the Crab Shack. 10 out of 10 on those in our opinion. The UBD is worth every nickel. It's an awesome meal and experience. Definitely will do again. Highly recommend the Sunset Cruise in Aruba and the golf cart rentals in Bonaire, as well as the glass bottom boat. I don't think there is a bad excursion on all three islands. These are awesome ports. You could easily spend a week at each port and not get enough IMO. Embarkation took one hour from taxi to our suite. We arrived at 11:30am. Debarking we left the room at 8am and we're in a taxi by 8:45. Great cruise. Read Less

At the cruise critic meeting management said they would like to hear any complaints during the cruise, so I did write many notes to customer service but not one thing changed. Cruise companies spend billions of dollars of advertising but a small issue with an employee can leave a bad taste. I'm talking about the Chef at Horizon Court and the Internet Manager. It comes down to training and customer service. The bad: Not enough seating for the size of ship and yes passengers saving seats. This did happen every night and Cruise Director trying to solve this. You need to arrive at least half hour ahead of show. No top sheet? Couldn't really understand but after a few requests received one. This is yucky since the duvets are not cleaned weekly. Extras: $29 is too steep for specialty restaurant and only one entree allowed. Way cheaper on competitors. How about a promotion. Hot dog restaurant..extra..ice cream some extra.. Sanctuary way extra.. The good: Food and service for the most part was excellent. The bacon raw the whole week and the eggs left under the lights became hard. One night my filet was tough but for the most part way better than other lines. Entertainment: When you could find a seat most shows excellent. Trisha Kelly and the Love Boat party were fun. The Voice was also great. Fitness: Enjoyed the stretch class but on the last day I was the only person. Could be the 15 minute lecture to sell. Spa: Appeared to be great..took advantage of free promo. Cruise Director Cory: Hysterical, wonderful sense of humor. I think needed is some way for passengers to print out the boarding pass without paying .79 per minute. Since we had an early flight and government shut down this was a concern. The good is I finally learned how to use the app. Taxis in Aruba and Florida were a rip off. Read the paperwork and do not go to the left where it will cost more; go straight. We stayed pre cruise at the Pelican Resort in FLL and it was perfect. Did Uber everywhere and at least in Florida it worked out great..Saved the rental fee..gas..and $33 night parking. Princess please go back to French Polynesia. Our Pacific Princess was the best in our history cruising. I understand it is because of flights and the sale of the Ocean, but we need a lower price cruise in that region. Read Less

Past Princess cruiser. Liked the destinations and the price. My only complaint was the night they did liars club. I felt the magician who was one of the celebrities was rude, profane and obnoxious. Nothing was said about the show being PG 15 until after a lot of offensive comments. I have cruised 25 times with Princess and this was the first time I have seen people getting up and leaving the show, myself included. The shipboard staff were great, the other entertainment very good and the food was excellent. The ship is definitely in need of some cosmetic work, lots of areas need repairs. Donna my room stewart was excellent, probably one of the best I have had on a cruise regardless of the cruise line. The galley presentation and tour was excellent. I would definitely cruise on Princess again in the future. The benefits for elite passengers are the best in the industry. Read Less

I was a little skeptical about this ship after reading a so so review by some people on cruise critic. Princess is Princess, so I had to think it would still be good. The Crown Princess is a little older, but still a fantastic ship. The service provided by the very friendly crew was wonderful. The food in the main dining room was great. The surprise was the food in the buffet, which provided wide choices and the quality of dishes some of which that you would find in a five star restaurant. I am sure that it is not easy to cook for thousands of people for a buffet, The food and the pastries were amazing. There was always a good choice of entertainment day or night. I love the Princess experience, because they spoil you and let you have your vacation as busy and fun as you want at your own speed. We have been on many cruise ships and cruise lines over the years. The Crown Princess was so much fun that we have decide to take another cruise on the ship in a few months. Read Less

My AWESOME friend won this cruise through Air Miles and chose ME as her guest! It was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for such a wonderful vacation, especially for two former single moms getting back on our feet and not being able to afford a cruise vacation. We were treated like royalty, the food was out-of-this-world and the room service (by Rey!) was incredible! The activities on board kept us so busy that we never even had time to swim in the ship pool(s) or soak in any of the hot-tubs. Our tours were phenomenal, although more time allotted at each port would have allowed for more relaxation time on the beach and/or souvenir shopping; an extra 2 hours per port would have been perfect. WHAT A FANTASTIC TRIP! We ported in Cozumel for the jeep/snorkel tour and ported in The Bahamas for the bus tour/snorkel experience. We got to try conch for the first time ever and it was delicious! We learned a lot about the Bahamian people, their culture and traditions, but especially enjoyed the little middle school children singing for us. The Princess Cays is gorgeous with the soft white sand and beautiful turquoise water. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Air Miles and the Crown Princess for ensuring that our cruise was even more AMAZING than I could ever imagine!!! We opted for early dining and pea jay and Hosea from Botticelli dining room looked after us unbelievable well, they work tirelessly to make sure we have the best experience every night and always with a smile , we were treated like family.(100% promotion material). Being new to cruising, I went with Princess last year so decided to go with them again because we had such a great time last year. Another lovely ship, great destination and great all round service. We did miss one port of call, very disappointing to have missed Stavanger - but we had a medical emergency during the night and the Captain made the very hard decision to turn the ship around and return to Dover to ensure the passenger received the best possible attention. The ship, the staff and whole package was extremely good value, my only compliant is the cost of excursions, but if you do some pre-cruise research, you can find the same trips at much better prices. You have to be careful on timings!! Don't get left behind! The ship is showing signs of old age, but the crew do work tirelesly at keeping her to a good standard. All the staff we came across were extremely helpful and friendly. The entertainment was first class. Food was excellent, never had a day where I didn't enjoy the food. I am pleased I choose Princess again, and will more than likely go again next year. Read Less

We had a great time aboard the Crown Princess! It was are honeymoon cruise 5 years ago, and this we considered are second honeymoon, and Princess did not let us down. The service in the dinning room was excellent and the food was as usual superb! We set said in not so great weather on Sat March 25th, are ship was smart and waited until 7pm to leave Fort Lauderdale as the storm was bad. Once underway the fun and relaxation began! The first port was Antigua and Barbuda, we booked an excursion thru Princess (I highly recommend this way for excursions, simply said you get what you pay for!) it was to an exclusive beach. It took my breath away, it was right out of a movie, gorgeous! The next port was St. Kitts and Nevis, another lovely spot. We did as "do as you please day", and St. Kitts did not disappoint, lovely town and great locals to help guide us with a smile! Then we were off to St. Thomas as the 3rd stop, we booked an excursion again thru Princess. We went on a ferry to St. John and had a great day of food and fun. Lovey town, and the best smoothie I have ever in my life, by the nicest lady that had a road side stand. The last port was Grand Turk. We had an excursion to tour the island and the tour guide was terrific! Princess really knows how to pick the best excursions. We ate on Grand Turk at Margarita Vill (Jimmy Buffet's Place) I was very disappointed as the food was terrible as well as the service. Never do that restaurant again. We had a great surprise back on the ship as our travel agent told the cruise line that this was an anniversary trip. They broke out the balloons and sang to us in the dinning room. Even a special dessert just for us! We love Princess and will now ONLY sail with them. In the past we have tried Royal Caribbean, and between the nora virus on both sailing we had with them and the long lines, the bad cold food, and missing all the shows because we did not get tickets for them and all the kids.....we are done with them! They just have way too many people on them to be fun. On Princess we feel special and are treated like gold. No long lines, no bad food, and we saw every show! Are Cabin steward was a dream, he was so on top of everything and made us feel like family. There may be no "towel animals" on the bed at night, as a previous traveler stated, but at least Princess sheets are clean and have not been used for 6,000 people! Movies under the Stars on Princess is always a good time, new movies with a cozy blanket and cookies, now that is way to relax! All and all we have great time when we cruise with Princess. We go once a year and highly recommend them! Read Less

We have been on several Canal Cruises around the holidays before and once we had sailed on the Coral Princes which been beautifully and traditionally decorated for the Christmas Season, lots of Red and Green. Have made a couple of others in more recent years only to be disappointed either no decorations or more modern decorations in Silver and Gold that just looked more like a department store. The Coral was simply a beautiful site that we enjoyed totally. The food in the dining room was simply beyond Good more on the Terrific scale. The beef was beyond anything I have had in recent years anywhere. Prime Rib prepared to perfection and tender beyond belief. A night or two later we had Roast Beef which was also prepared exactly to the Med. Rare request we had made and the meat was so tender I didn't need my knife, I cut it with my fork. I don't ever recall Roast Beef being that tender. A couple nights later we had Chateaubriand which I can only say was even better than the other two servings of Beef. Each night the food was really wonderful to our taste. The staff that represented the Princess Cruise Line was friendly and responded very quickly to any request. This includes the staff on the Lido Deck as we entered there were hostess greeting us who always carried a big smile and offered kind words. The Dining Room Staff were also most friendly offering their recommendations each evening as we arrived for dinner. They immediately set about their task of providing our request from the menu. Couldn't have been more attentive. My only complaint about the Dining Menu was the Parmesan cheese basket has been discontinued for the Fettuccine Alfredo. That has long been one of our favorites. Even though, we managed to eat the Alfredo Appetizer 9 out of 10 nights, but would have been better with the Baskets. The Room Stewardess we had was one of the hardest working we have ever had on any cruise line and I think there was only one occasion when we attempted to enter our room and she hadn't completed all her work and moved on and that was our fault for returning to collect a forgotten item. The entertainment was all very good and we enjoyed it greatly. As for the ports and excursions. We've been to most ports in the Caribbean several times and taken excursions in most of them so that is of little concern to us. We enjoy the cruising aspect and meeting and talking with new Friends. Mealtimes are great times to meet new folks and exchange ideas.... Read Less

The Crown Princess needs some work. IE: Paint, repairs etc. That being said the crew (nearly everyone) we came in contact with were fabulous, friendly, helpful, informative, polite, & accommodating. Food overall was the best we have ever had with Princess on a longer than 7 day cruise. Local entertainment that joined us in several ports were great. Though the music was very good we need more on deck during the sea days. The exercise room should & needs to be open at 6:00 not 7:00. We were there everyday & there was always a large group waiting to get in at 7:00. We are Casino players & the staff was on the most part very friendly though we could have used more BJ tables. Only 2 were open most of the time. We seldom ate in Horizon court as we opt for a light healthy breakfast from room service. Lunch mostly was the Lido grill or Pizza; always good as per normal. We ate at Crown grill twice & it was great. Dinner was always fun (great wait staff) & mostly VERY good & if we did not like something we sent it back & opted & received another choice cheerfully. We originally signed up for the 31 day cruise but cut back to 17; though the other ports coming up next probably would have been just as exciting as ours were. Read Less

This is our 3rd cruise to Hawaii and the best. Loved the Crown Princess. It was well maintained and looked fresh. Serving staff were efficient, friendly and courteous. Although this was a medium to large ship with over 3000 passengers it never felt crowded. The entertainment, especially the Princess Theater Singers and Dancers, were excellent. Embarkation and debarkation were efficient and we were on and off quicker than we've ever been on a cruise. Our only issue was with our excursion in the port of Honolulu. We wanted to experience a "real" Hawaiian luau and the Polyneisian Cultural Center is one the most popular attractions on Oahu. So we looked at the excursions for this event. There were two and they were $120/person different in price. The more expensive one said that it was a traditional luau with the pig roast in a pit with Hawaiian Hulu dances as well as a late night Hawaiian Stage show. The less expensive one said it included a complentary buffet type "luau". We selected the expensive one to get the traditional luau. When we got to the venue after a 90 minute drive and we were broken into gourps of about 20 and assigned to a tour guide. Our guide as a lovely young women who was a student at the local Brigham Young University. She was nervous and it appeared as if this was her first experience as a guide and being foreign born had some issues with the English language but despite that we had a nice tour with her. Unforturnately we only got the complimentary buffet luau with another 1000+ people cramed into a large ampitheater at folding type picnic tables where we were herded in groups to one of the 20 or so buffet tables each of which was about 10 feet long with lots of salads and a couple of selections of shredded and BBQ pork. There was a series of dancers during the dinner and you could see them if you were not seated with your back to them. I think our guide took us to the wrong building for the luau since there were serveral other buildings where one could eat. One was a very nice prime dining experience which is where we probably should have been taken. The next day we went to the Princess Excursion Desk and talked with a nice young man about the issue. We tried to explain what had happened and asked why we had paid over $120 more for an excursion that essentially was the same as the less expensive one except for the Hawaiian Stage show. This was an excellent show but not worth $240 for the both of us. After some time the Excursion Desk staffer seemed to understand our question and disappointment. He said he would contact the excursion provider and get back with us. He never contacted us before we debarked 6 days latter in LA and we've had no word yet. This is the second time we have not had a pleasant excursion experience with Princess, the first being on Aruba 3 years ago. Read Less

Been wanting to see the south sea islands especially Tahiti and surrounding islands. We enjoy the ocean voyage especially the daily programs. They seem to target varied interests in passengers. Really enjoyed the crossing the equator program. One of the things we enjoy are the excursions at all the port stops. There are enough excursion selections to appeal to most passengers. The dining experience allowed us to try many dishes that we would not normally try at home. It has been our experience that the cabin service and indeed the service of all crew members is very professional and give the feeling of being personal. The boarding process was swift and expedient. The only drawback was the waiting to board and not enough seating for the waiting passengers. Debarkation was the best we have ever experienced. The waiting was held to a very short time and we were led off the ship in a very orderly manner to pick up our luggage. Overall a very enjoyable ocean voyage. Read Less

We are Elite Members with Princess and this was our 2nd cruise around the BI. Our previous cruise of the BI was 5 years ago. We have also sailed multiple times with Holland America, Norwegian and Carnival. Let me give you a comprehensive review of our experience. Embarkation/Disembarkation: Both went smoothly. We purchased EZ Air, took a transfer from Heathrow to Southampton and were in our cabin by 11:30 am. However, unless you're at sea for a couple of days and you can rest up, I'd recommend staying overnight in London for a night or two; otherwise you miss the first day or so while catching up on sleep, because the sea/ocean air will make you relax anyway. Cabins: We upgraded this cruise and have stayed mostly in balcony and mini-suite cabins. They appear to be larger than other cruise line cabins. I agree with some comments they could do with a face lift, but beds are comfy and otherwise ok.If you are not used to Princess cabins, they have US outlets and it's a good idea to bring an outlet strip. Dining: My favorite place for breakfast is Horizon Court because of variety and quality. My husband likes Int'l Cafe because that's where they have the best coffee. Lunch is good in HC, too. Dinner we had in MDR. Agree, some of the choices are not the best - and too much beef, but we always found something on the menu we liked. I tried the Regional choices many days. Chocolate Journey desserts were yummy. Didn't try the specialty restaurants this time. Room service was good and quick, but menu needs an update. Activities & Entertainment: Kevin Tugwell was CD. He's ok, as are his staff, but the multiple (sometimes back-to-back) evening trivia and game shows became soooooo annoying and frustrating because that was often the only so-called entertainment that evening. The worst was when they attempted some amateur dramatics - we walked out. The cruise staff shouldn't be your entertainment in the Explorers Lounge. We did enjoy Voice of the Ocean/Karaoke - great talent on this cruise. Princess Orchestra is fantastic. Guest entertainers we liked were Michael Harrison (ventriloquist) - had the audience in stitches; George Casey and Ricky Jay (comedians); Jasson Allen (singer) and Johan Andersoon (singer). Ella also did a great job of Irish singing one evening in Princess Theater. Princess Singers and Dancers were ok. Liked the first two shows, had seen Encore before and walked out of Magic To Do - so boring. The local Folklore Dancers and Singers were mediocre - have seen and heard much better. XCite was a new band that boarded our ship and played most evenings in the Piazza - really enjoyed them. Because of cooler weather, didn't see any MUTS movies, nor were there any deck parties. Couple of piazza/balloon efforts. They had a few Zumba classes (free), but at odd times of the day. Service & Staff: We found the staff to be mostly friendly and helpful. They had a few issues with TVs on this cruise, partly because of the introduction of the Medallion. Both were competing for the internet, but they had an expert board the ship in Dublin and the issues seemed to improve after that. Medallion Class: This was new to the ship and there were a few hiccups, but generally it was quite well accepted. We've used it on other ships and it's fine when it's operating smoothly. Other Passengers: Typically, majority of passengers were from the US, Canada, Australia/New Zealand, and the UK/Ireland. We also had a tour of passengers from Mexico City. However, all communications are in English, so you really need to have someone fluent in English in your party; otherwise you'll miss a lot. Not sure how many people really read the daily Princess Patter, as the Captain got quite annoyed with the bad behavior of a few passengers. Ports & Tours: The selection of ports was great. At 2-3 ports, reps from the local Tourist Office were available in the Piazza to answer questions and provide maps/directions. I did a couple of self-directed tours on this trip. For example, in Cobh (pronounced Cove), I visited St. Colman's Cathedral. It was on a steep hill, but well worth the visit. Absolutely gorgeous and a couple of our passengers had written in the Visitors Book that they had emigrated to the US from Cobh over 60 years ago. In Liverpool, it was pouring down, but I dressed warmly and visited the two cathedrals there. While at the Catholic cathedral, I witnessed a christening. Most people had the sense to take the Hop On Hop Off buses, but I walked all the way. The Easy Loch Tour was a bit disappointing. It was a bus ride around the lakes and mountains. We did stop at Luss by Loch Lomond and saw a bride. In general, I think it's time to change up some of the tours offered and they are expensive, but guarantee you won't miss the ship - that is, unless you miss the deadline to get back to your bus. That happened on two of my tours. We had to leave without one couple and on the other one we waited longer than we should and the tour guide was really annoyed with them. More people are going for independent tours, but I noticed a lot of people were very late embarking the ship at Invergordon and they were on independent, not ship's tours. The Captain also made it clear in Edinburgh that we wouldn't wait for any late comers. Weather/What to Wear: Even for end of July/early August, the weather was a little cool. It was best to wear 3 layers - Tshirt, thin sweater or sweatshirt and a jacket - during the day. Evenings, they request passengers wear "smart casual" clothes and 2-3 evenings we had formal wear. Unfortunately, some people don't/won't understand the meaning of smart. We enjoyed this cruise overall, but maybe we have an advantage because we have sailed so many times with Princess, we know what to expect and how to get around any issues that arise. We did complete the survey after the end of the cruise and we know the corporate staff at Princess read Cruise Critics. I try to be honest, but fair. We've booked our next cruise on Princess. We chose this cruise since there were some islands on the itinerary that we hadn't been to before. We love the crew on the Crown so we wanted to sail on her again and this was our 4th time on her! We live in NE Florida so for a change we drove down to port the morning of the sailing. We parked our car at the Park N Cruise and caught the shuttle to port. We arrived around 11:45 and were onboard by Noon, just in time to get lunch in DaVinci dining room! Easy peasy! Our cabin was on Baja Deck, midship. Nice cabin, in very nice condition except for the AC...our cabin was very warm and it wouldn't cool down. I always bring a small battery operated fan so that helped. The "ventilation worker" came to our cabin a few times and customer service followed up several time to see how the cabin temp was. It did get a wee bit better and the last day they offered us some obc credit to make up for the issue. Our room steward, John was quick and efficient! We sailed on the Crown 25 day sailing in the Med last October and the food in the dining room was not good. This time however, the meals in the dining room were very good! Not a bad meal for the whole 10 days! Very impressed by the change! Our waiter and assistant waiter were both friendly and efficient! The new "late dining" time was 7:15 but they opened the doors at 7:05 most nights. The new time fit with what we like to do onboard and if you want to make it to one of the shows(9:15), it works well We ate in Crown Grill the first formal night, and it was lovely as usual! However, they rolled out the new wine list on our sailing and when we ordered a bottle in the Crown, they had a hard time finding it...took 20 minutes! We did try some of the new wines and were very pleased with our selections. We played Trivia several times and actually won 3-4 times! We attended several of the game shows which are always fun! We went to Kareoke and the Voice of the Ocean audiions and that is always entertaining! The cruise director staff was great! We particularly enjoyed Allwynn and Song! Very fun and funny! We didn't go to any of the shows in the Princess theater having seen many of them on our October cruise. We went to a few in the Explorers lounge and they were good. I played Bingo twice and was very dissappointed with the higher priced packages...even higher than just 5 months ago! And I found the hard sell on the "tablets" to be extremely irritating. Smallest tablet package was $69!!! Won't be playing bingo anywhere near as much as I used to. Very disappointing....but I must say this was the only real downside to this sailing. For one of the few times, we booked all Princess tours and they were good to excellent. Whale Watching in Dominica was a real highlight! And we also ventured to a sailing on the "AquaSpace" vessel, a one-of-a- kind 40 year old exploring boat that Jacque Cousteau used for some of his explorations! Very interesting and different! In Aruba the DePalm island beach break was nice and relaxing and included drinks and lunch. Overall, we found the Crown to be even better than before and it was reflected in being voted #2 ship in the fleet only behind the Regal! The health inspectors came onbaord mid cruise and gave the Crown 99 points!! That's really saying something for a ship as old as the Crown! I give credit to the Hotel General Manager, Andreas Pitsch for all the quality improvements....he is doing an excellent job! We will definitely sail on the Crown again! Read Less

I chose this cruise because it was a 10 day cruise and our friends have not been to these islands but we have seen them before. We drove to Ft. Lauderdale so embarkation and disembarkation was easy. Easy parking as well. Our favorite island is Aruba and St. Thomas. Grand Turk was great. Not a fan of Dominica or Grenada. We went on 4 excursions and they were ok. This is our 3rd cruise on Princess. The ship is older but doesn’t show it. I prefer the smaller ships. Went on the Oasis and it’s just too big. Horizon buffet is very good however trying to find a table was very hard. Need more smaller tables for 4 people. 2 people would table up a whole table for 6 to 8. We do Anytime dining. We always got right in. Not a fan of the food however. We only went 3 times. I feel people go to this dining if they are first time cruisers. Not worth getting all dressed up to go to this type of dining. Loved the Steakhouse! Liked the pizza and burger restaurants. Also we were disappointed with the Crab dinner you pay extra for. Did this dinner on another ship and it was fantastic. Pool is very COLD but nice. Movies and music by the pool VERY LOUD! Can’t even talk to your friends. Not relaxing by the pool with entertainment blaring. My cabin steward Mario was fantastic! Answered every question. Room was nice and clean. Loved the layout of room. Outdoor bartenders were great but not enough people walking around to get you drinks. Been on a cruise 8 times and I would rate this one a 7. Did not go to any entertainment or casino. Casino smelled like smoke. Read Less

Right time of year, very clean ship, dinning room too noisey and limited menu while they only offered a limited offering. Yhey tried top sell the up-grade menu from Crown Room - very tacky! Buffet selection and quality was excellent. State room was very nice, however shower too small and only had a fixed shower head not a hand held option. Seating in buffet was too limited and there was no encouraagement to share tables. Tables for 6+ only had one or ywo guests - a waste guests should be able to indicate they are willing to share. Several ports are "Carnival manufactured properties" which limites private vendors from providing exciursions (they claimed Carnival demanded 50% charge to go on property). This limites convienient access from local environments - bars, shop, resturants, etc. In some locations it is a mile plus walk just to get off the property. Also prices and shopping options expensive and not reflective of the country - one might as well stay on the ship. The least Carnival could offer would be a minimum charge or free shuttle to the town or at least the property entrance to give local vendors and guests an opportiunity to get away from these manufacture4de ports.
