Would recommend this cruise to anyone. It was quick and seamless embarkation, our luggage was waiting for us st our cabin which was spotless. Our cabin Stewart was Elle and he was always on hand to show us the way back to our cabin ( we were forever going the wrong way) always smiling and nothing was ever too much trouble for him. We opted for early dining and pea jay and Hosea from Botticelli dining room looked after us unbelievable well, they work tirelessly to make sure we have the best experience every night and always with a smile , we were treated like family.(100% promotion material). Great entertainment, great shows and fantastic comedians and always something to do . Highly recommend the excursions we went on all but 1 and had fantastic well trained and knowledgeable tour guides we learned so much. All in all a fantastic time away. Read Less

We have been cruising for a dozen or so years now and on various cruise lines. We chose this cruise for several reasons. It was a Princess cruise which we had not yet done and it allowed us to spend a few days in London before the cruise. The big attraction was it having a chance to visit Norway and the Norwegian Fjords. While the scenery was amazing and had no issues with the cruise itinerary or the ports we visited the ship experience was a huge disappointment. I describe it to friends this way. I believe the company has tried to cut costs by reducing staffing levels so low it now seriously affects the entire experience. While the service we did receive from individual staff members was good the quantity and quality of service was poor at best. The crew appeared to be working very hard, looked very tired, frustrated, were constantly rushing around and on a few occasions we witnessed arguments, some very loud and vocal. There were line-ups everywhere. I even took pictures of the line-ups at the buffets because I couldn’t believe how long they were. This, I believe, was due partly to the fact that they kept most of the buffet restaurants closed except for a very brief period at the peak of meal times. The food in trays was often empty or only a few morsels left to be picked over, until someone ran by and literally threw more into it. Many, many times the food labels did not match what was in the trays. This being more evidence to the lack of quality control we witnessed throughout this ship. Every single day beverage stations in the buffet area had “please use other station” signs on them. There were constantly dirty dishes piled up all over the place finding a clean table a challenge with guests often removing the dished themselves. Between finding a seat or a beverage we did a lot of unnecessary, and frustrating, walking around at meal time. The closing of the other buffet sections made it very, very, difficult to find a place to sit (other than as a cost saving device, I can think of no other reason to do such a stupid thing especially when people are lined up out the doors). We had purchased a premium coffee package to enjoy on the trip. Once/if we could finally catch a server to order one, the wait was incredibly long. Most times we had completely finished our meals and had to stay and wait for the coffee to finally show up. On several occasions, we simply chose to leave and not wait. At night, they featured their “Movies under the stars”. Here again, there was plenty of evidence of a complete lack of quality control. One day there had been a light rain in the very early evening. When we got to the movie, all the chairs were soaking wet. No one had come by to flip them over to drain them or wipe them down. (Something we saw done on every other cruise line we have travelled with.) On two nights, the volume was so low it was difficult to hear. Had any crew member been assigned to check on the movie venue, they would have notice that immediately or at least we could have mentioned it to them. All in all, this cruise line was a disappointment! As mentioned earlier I believe there has been a significant cut in staffing levels to appoint that they can no longer supply a minimum level of expected service. We have sailed many times in the past and on several different cruise lines, this by far was the worse. I can see by reading other reviews we are not alone in our evaluation of this ship. How sad. Being new to cruising, I went with Princess last year so decided to go with them again because we had such a great time last year. Another lovely ship, great destination and great all round service. We did miss one port of call, very disappointing to have missed Stavanger - but we had a medical emergency during the night and the Captain made the very hard decision to turn the ship around and return to Dover to ensure the passenger received the best possible attention. The ship, the staff and whole package was extremely good value, my only compliant is the cost of excursions, but if you do some pre-cruise research, you can find the same trips at much better prices. You have to be careful on timings!! Don't get left behind! The ship is showing signs of old age, but the crew do work tirelesly at keeping her to a good standard. All the staff we came across were extremely helpful and friendly. The entertainment was first class. Food was excellent, never had a day where I didn't enjoy the food. I am pleased I choose Princess again, and will more than likely go again next year. Read Less

We booked this particular cruise to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. Admittedly the itinerary appealed more than the ship itself. It was the first time we sailed from Southampton - previously choosing fly-cruises. Embarkation was efficient and straightforward and we were amazed how quickly we were on board. In fact - our luggage was already outside our room by the time we finished lunch and we were soon unpacked an able to enjoy our holiday. The ship itself was lovely and on par with P&O's Ventura in terms of layout and facilities. There was an interesting mix of passengers - British guests, people travelling from the USA, Canada, Australia etc. This also reflected in the activities and entertainment - whihc felt very much "home from home". Stateroom: We were allocated stateroom A204 on deck 12. Whilst the room itself was ok - well maintained, always cleaned to a high standard, decent facilities etc - it was right next to a service staircase and as such our sleep quality was compromised. We appreciate this was not deliberate on the part of the crew, but the constant "up and down" metal stairs meant we were woken up early each day. We initially offered this as feedback to guest services - who acknowledged our concern and suggested we return if the situation did not improve. It didn't... A second visit to a different advisor produced a worse outcome. She was unhelpful, unsympathetic and offered no solution. In fact she sent our newly appointed cabin steward to speak to us. It was only by using his initiative did he elect to put up a sign to remind the crew. He should be promoted (perhaps the guest service advisor should swop jobs with him!) Dining: We mainly used the Botticelli Dining Room (second sitting) as we found the buffet restaurant to be noisy and chaotic. Meals were varied and of a good quality and the waiter staff were very helpful. We also used the International Cafe as a great alternative to breakfast or lunch. This is open 24 hours a day and continued to stock fresh sandwiches, breakfast muffins, cakes etc. It was possibly the busiest area of the ship - but not in an irritating way - ie. things were always going on around you. Entertainment: Excellent! A tremendous variety of acts performed throughout the two weeks ranging from comedians, professional singers, tribute shows, etc. The main cast were wonderful and put on lavish productions covering all genres of music. It was lovely! Day time activities offered something for everyone (although more limited on port days as you would expect). We were even treated to an audience with Hollywood actor James Cosmo. Our only criticism is that several activities centred around "selling" - particularly the Effy jewellary shop who made a persistent and determined effort to offer their wares throughout the cruise. (Every Princess Patter included inserts selling something or another...) It reminded me a little of the Blanket Tours offered on the Spanish Costas. It's not the first time we have encountered this sort of tactic - but it seemed much more obvious on this cruise. Service: As mentioned - we encountered a problem with guest services - but other than that the remainder of the crew were courteous and helpful. Bars: Three Happy Hours per day! This really attracted the crowds - offering a "Buy One Get One for 1$". A good selection of venues ranging from quiet areas such as the Adagio Bar - to more lively encounters at the Explorers Lounge or Wheelhouse Bar. Open Decks: Easy to get a sunbed (not that it was that hot!) and we were able to sit out and enjoy the views. Useful addition of a sports deck - mini golf, bowls, croquet as well as a basket ball court and walking track. Ports: Zeebrugge - We took a tour to Ypres, Flanders Fields Museum and Bruges. It was great... Visiting World War 1 & 2 sites - was very moving. The centre of Ypres was charming and peaceful providing an opportunity to walk at leisure before visiting the more busy city of Bruges. The expert guide took us on an interesting walking tour of the centre before allowing us some free time to enjoy a drink/snack. Stockholm - The surprise port of the trip. A beautiful city... Our only criticism is that we docked closed to the centre than originally stated. This meant we felt obliged to book an excursion that we probably didn't need as the Hop On bus was close by! That said our excursion was excellent - again led by an expert guide who took us out of the city to Sigtuna (one of the earliest settlements). We returned to the centre to visit the awesome Vasa Viking Museum. Definitely recommend a visit. Tallinn - Another great port and within walking distance of the Old Town. We would recommend walking (if you are able) or getting a taxi, as the Hop On bus did not offer a great deal in terms of sites. The market square was bustling with cafes, bars and shops. The medieval quarter was lively and interesting. Generally it was cheap to eat out and shop. St Petersburg - The highlight of the cruise! Yes, immigration is a pain in the neck - but it is worth the hassle! We took three tours here to avoid any confusion around navigation/language. All three were brilliant! We marvelled at the Hermitage Museum - a ostentatious display of wealth and opulence. It seemed what Catherine the Great wanted - she got! Following this spectacle - we enjoyed free time in the main shopping area and were able to visit the magnificent Church of he Saviour of Spilled Blood. Our second tour we visited the Ballet. Whilst the production itself was excellent we were somewhat disappointed by the venue. The theatre was on par with a school hall - with the orchestra and conductor on the same level as the audience. A little bit distracting... Our final trip took us along the canals and river - a terrific way to see the city. Helsinki - Unfortunately the weather was against us so we only did a quick sweep of the city on the Hop On tour. There were very few stops - so I'm not sure it would have been any better had we got off to explore further. Gdynia/Gdansk - Another lovely port. We took a tour to the city centre, taking in the Basilica and main street. We also visited the Solidarity Movement Museum which was fantastic! All in all, we had a great holiday. Went with Princess to Hawaii 5 years ago and have been on Celebrity and Holland and America. I actually win this cruise, so was looking forward to it as it was going to places I wouldn't have chosen if I was booking a cruise. It got off to a bad start due to IT problems and then when we finally started to set sail circa 6 hours late the ship had to cock back up to deal with A medical emergency for a crew member. We arrived in Zeebrugge on the Sunday morning, a little later than expected, however passengers were not allowed to leave the ship due to immigration, all nationalities bar British and European had to present themselves on the ship with passports and eventually British and Europeans were allowed to leave and an hour or so later all other nationalities, this however, cut short everyone's time in port. Next onto Copenhagen, no immigration problems here and a great day was enjoyed until we got back on ship and an announcement was made that instead of leaving port at 3.00 a.m. To travel to Helsingborg in Sweden, the ship would be staying put as the seas would be too rough to tender in, so the contingency was to stay put in Copenhagen for a further day. Why didn't princess have contingency plans to dock further up the Swedish coast and bus guests into Helsingborg? Instead of which we never got to visit Sweden Whilst in Copenhagen, Norwegian immigration joined the ship and all nationalities bar, British and European had to attend for interview, so they would be allowed to enter Norway. Why did this happen? Who knows, I have never known anything like this on cruises befor Booked the Crown Grill at a cost of $58, well don't bother, bad form the start when we waited ten minutes just to get acknowledged at the entrance. Service very slow, and hour and a half before we got anywhere near a main course! When mains were served the wrong steaks were given to the wrong person and as mine didn't have the jus and I didn't want it, mine had to go back. New steak arrived and I could have soled my shoes with it. Never got asked if we wanted more wine. Complained to both the Matrie D and the Head waiter and all we got was thank you for your feedback and they still charged ue in full. Complete fiasco in the casino with a punter pushing and shoving everyone on the roulette out of the way to get her bets on. Croupier and table manager did and said nothing but I did. Ended up in handbags at dawn with the Casino Manager asking this lady to move to another table but she didn't and he did nothing more. I spoke with him the following day and expressed my dissatisfaction and told him the money obviously talks and she wasn't removed due to the amount she was putting in the tables. He told me that he had watched the CCTV and that he had looked for me to apologise and that she had been spoken to, but she should have been banned from the casino in my opinion Charged for drinks in our bill, when we had a drinks package, went to the front desk and the lad couldn't raise a smile, apologise or even speak with me, he just pressed a few buttons and printed off a new copy of our bill with it removed and when I told him that a smile wouldn't go a miss he sarcastically grinned at me Great staff in the smoking lounge in the casino (Luka) and both Sydney and Grace in the Crooners bar. Food not as good, with the steak on the staple menu in the dining room been replaced with a burger, for dinner in a restaurant setting? We had a great time aboard the Crown Princess! It was are honeymoon cruise 5 years ago, and this we considered are second honeymoon, and Princess did not let us down. The service in the dinning room was excellent and the food was as usual superb! We set said in not so great weather on Sat March 25th, are ship was smart and waited until 7pm to leave Fort Lauderdale as the storm was bad. Once underway the fun and relaxation began! The first port was Antigua and Barbuda, we booked an excursion thru Princess (I highly recommend this way for excursions, simply said you get what you pay for!) it was to an exclusive beach. It took my breath away, it was right out of a movie, gorgeous! The next port was St. Kitts and Nevis, another lovely spot. We did as "do as you please day", and St. Kitts did not disappoint, lovely town and great locals to help guide us with a smile! Then we were off to St. Thomas as the 3rd stop, we booked an excursion again thru Princess. We went on a ferry to St. John and had a great day of food and fun. Lovey town, and the best smoothie I have ever in my life, by the nicest lady that had a road side stand. The last port was Grand Turk. We had an excursion to tour the island and the tour guide was terrific! Princess really knows how to pick the best excursions. We ate on Grand Turk at Margarita Vill (Jimmy Buffet's Place) I was very disappointed as the food was terrible as well as the service. Never do that restaurant again. We had a great surprise back on the ship as our travel agent told the cruise line that this was an anniversary trip. They broke out the balloons and sang to us in the dinning room. Even a special dessert just for us! We love Princess and will now ONLY sail with them. In the past we have tried Royal Caribbean, and between the nora virus on both sailing we had with them and the long lines, the bad cold food, and missing all the shows because we did not get tickets for them and all the kids.....we are done with them! They just have way too many people on them to be fun. On Princess we feel special and are treated like gold. No long lines, no bad food, and we saw every show! Are Cabin steward was a dream, he was so on top of everything and made us feel like family. There may be no "towel animals" on the bed at night, as a previous traveler stated, but at least Princess sheets are clean and have not been used for 6,000 people! Movies under the Stars on Princess is always a good time, new movies with a cozy blanket and cookies, now that is way to relax! All and all we have great time when we cruise with Princess. We go once a year and highly recommend them! Read Less

Took a once-in-a-lifetime 14-night cruise around South America on the Crown Princess — and it was fabulous! Here’s a review of the ship: The ship’s decor is beautiful. The design has a heavy Italian influence with lots of gold.Crown Princess review I’d guess that the average age of guests on this particular cruise was 70-75 and I bet I was about the only person who had to go back to work when the cruise was over! Passengers on this trip were serious cruisers, too — most have taken 10+ cruises to everywhere under the sun and are very well traveled! Only met one first-time cruiser during the whole trip. There’s a wide variety of onboard entertainment – one of the things I love best about Princess cruise lines – including professional Tango dancers (wow!), a ventriloquist, a comedian, singers — including a semi-finalist from American Idol, a magician, singing and dancing production shows, Movies Under the Stars (recent movies shown nightly on the 15th deck; unfortunately, it was too cold most of the trip to watch them, even bundled up in the blankets provided!), and indoor movies every afternoon. Crown Princess review: movies under the stars There are lots of fun onboard activities – free Zumba classes, line dancing classes, a paper plane contest, an egg drop from the 3rd floor atrium, informational lectures (about the destinations and general cybersecurity tips), bingo, arts and crafts, for-fee yoga and spinning classes, art auctions, a style show, digital electronics classes and more. A seasonal event we got to witness was the Valentines Day balloon drop. Hundreds of pink and red balloons were suspended by a net over the central atrium all day on Feb. 14, and in the evening, they were released with great fanfare to float dramatically to the floor below. An onboard book club is available; interested passengers can check a copy of the pre-selected book out from the ship’s library, then meet at the end of the cruise to discuss it. An onboard guest chorus is also formed (no try-outs necessary); the group performs four or five selections on one of the last cruise days. (I participated in the chorus on a previous cruise and it was a lot of fun.)Crown Princess Review: chorus A free phone app for ship activities and info is available. This can be used in place of or in addition to the daily printed Princess Patter activities list. Food in the formal dining room is good, but the menu doesn’t include steak or beef every night, which is a change from previous cruises — and it disappointed me. Food in the informal dining room is so-so. The layout of the informal dining room’s cafeteria is absolutely horrible. All the food is displayed in a ridiculously small area and must be accessed from a single buffet line; a much larger space and separate buffet stations for various food categories would be a huge improvement. The line moves at a snail’s pace, with people hopping in and out of it randomly and people going both directions at once. Choosing food there is very chaotic!Crown Princess review: information dining room cafeteria line A “hidden” second cafeteria line located a short distance away — and generally open only for breakfast — eliminates having to use the super-crammed, slow informal food line described above. Tip: find it and use it! The ship has a number of self-service laundromats, which is great for a long trip. However, the machines in them don’t all work — causing confusion and frustration, and the vending machine selling small packets of detergent is horribly designed; every single purchase requires the user to insert a stick-like object to pry the box off of a shelf it gets stuck on inside! Shore excursions are varied and interesting. Since this trip wasn’t a “beach cruise” like trips to the Caribbean and Mediterranean, the shore excursions were unique and included tours to ranches and penguin rookeries in addition to guided bus tours of major cities. When the weather is warm and you’re returning from a shore excursion, a crew member waits outside the ship to hand you an icy cold towel. It’s heavenly. The most interesting — and expensive! — shore excursion on this cruise is a one-day helicopter trip to Antarctica, which costs $3,500! We met two people who’d signed up for it, but they didn’t get to go due to inclement weather. They ended up going to a nature preserve in South America instead, but were only receiving a partial refund since a tour guide was flown over from Antarctica before the trip was determined to be a “no go” and that person and her transportation had to be covered. Princess has always been my favorite cruise line, but there were several problems on this trip with tender boats that were very frustrating. At one port where we expected to dock at the port, we were notified at the last minute that tenders must be used instead. And there weren’t nearly enough tenders to accommodate all the passengers, which resulted in lengthy waits — and the cancellation of the shore excursion “Drive to the End of the World” which was the one I wanted to do most of all! I got up at 5:45 a.m. (earlier than a work day!) for it, sat in the waiting area for 3+ hours, and then was told the excursion was cancelled. Not good. Read Less

This was a bucket list trip around South America. Boarding was total disorganized and took over 4 1/2 hours. No one in the terminal had any answers as to why the delays. The ship is old and outdated. stains in carpeting, ratty mats and flooring in the gym, no nets on basketball courts, broken machines in the casino. When I spoke to a supervisor about the condition of the ship I was told" Sir, you have to understand that the ship will be going into dry dock so we're not bothering now with those things." Could not believe a crew member would say that to a recently boarded passenger. Got sick first night. Went to medical center second day but could not be seen then due to emergency. went next day and received a bill for $600. Due to critically ill patient we had to turn around and as a result of the delays we missed two of 5 ports- Montevideo and Falkland Islands. Cabin next door to us flooded and at 5:30 AM we had to move ourselves into another cabin. No help from crew as they were "busy" cleaning up. Two small fires during cruise- one in engine room and one in incinerator room. Food was very mediocre in buffet and dining room. The food in Sabatini's was very good. So many problems that the line finally offered passengers a credit on the cruise and on a future cruise. That was well received but as for this cruise, we spent 11 of 14 days at sea on a somewhat run down ship. Very disappointing and a waste of a lot of money. Front desk staff were great as was Cruise Director, trying to be helpful. Read Less

We have been on several Canal Cruises around the holidays before and once we had sailed on the Coral Princes which been beautifully and traditionally decorated for the Christmas Season, lots of Red and Green. Have made a couple of others in more recent years only to be disappointed either no decorations or more modern decorations in Silver and Gold that just looked more like a department store. The Coral was simply a beautiful site that we enjoyed totally. The food in the dining room was simply beyond Good more on the Terrific scale. The beef was beyond anything I have had in recent years anywhere. Prime Rib prepared to perfection and tender beyond belief. A night or two later we had Roast Beef which was also prepared exactly to the Med. Rare request we had made and the meat was so tender I didn't need my knife, I cut it with my fork. I don't ever recall Roast Beef being that tender. A couple nights later we had Chateaubriand which I can only say was even better than the other two servings of Beef. Each night the food was really wonderful to our taste. The staff that represented the Princess Cruise Line was friendly and responded very quickly to any request. This includes the staff on the Lido Deck as we entered there were hostess greeting us who always carried a big smile and offered kind words. The Dining Room Staff were also most friendly offering their recommendations each evening as we arrived for dinner. They immediately set about their task of providing our request from the menu. Couldn't have been more attentive. My only complaint about the Dining Menu was the Parmesan cheese basket has been discontinued for the Fettuccine Alfredo. That has long been one of our favorites. Even though, we managed to eat the Alfredo Appetizer 9 out of 10 nights, but would have been better with the Baskets. The Room Stewardess we had was one of the hardest working we have ever had on any cruise line and I think there was only one occasion when we attempted to enter our room and she hadn't completed all her work and moved on and that was our fault for returning to collect a forgotten item. The entertainment was all very good and we enjoyed it greatly. As for the ports and excursions. We've been to most ports in the Caribbean several times and taken excursions in most of them so that is of little concern to us. We enjoy the cruising aspect and meeting and talking with new Friends. Mealtimes are great times to meet new folks and exchange ideas.... Read Less

Let me start by saying, my husband and I are not frequent ocean cruisers. We did a lot of ocean cruising when we were younger. In the last few years, we travelled with Norwegian and Celebrity and were very pleased with those voyages. We took a 31 day cruise of South America, December 4, 2016 to January 4, 2017. We booked a mini suite, mid ship D 701. Unfortunately, the Crown Princess has serious technical problems and the decor is worn and dated. I will outline the Pros and Cons to make it easier for you to understand why our cruise was not a stellar experience for first time cruisers with Princess. Pros: -The most outstanding thing about this ship is their staff. In a word: Outstanding! -Organization of routines and tours were well done with very attentive care to individuals with mobility issues. -Educational seminars and port talks were informative, entertaining and helpful. -Boutique Outlet shopping was a lot of fun. -Traditional dining room meals were varied, hot and delicious, a special thank you to the staff: Alex, Noni and Anthony-they are the best!. -International Cafe in the Piazza was excellent with dedicated over the top friendly staff: Thank you to the following people for making our vacation: Cecelia, Anna, Victoria, Iris, Jason, Faye and Reynaldo. -Access to our billing account via kiosk was an excellent idea. We did avoid any problems at the end of the voyage by tackling the problems beforehand. -Cabin steward, Dax, was so helpful when our suite flooded and made sure all our needs with toiletries were fulfilled, not to forget to mention a friendly, outgoing personality. -Itinerary was appreciated, the main reason we chose Princess, and we experienced the essence of many countries we had never seen before. Cons: -Mini suite was not what I expected. A few days in, the tap water was dark brown all night and into the morning. Unfortunately, I drank the water throughout the night (glass on night table was brown the next morning) as I get up often to do this and my husband showered the morning after and came out dirtier than before he started. We went down to the front desk to report the problem but their manner was very unsympathetic to our problem. They said they clear the pipes all the time and this will happen. Shouldn't this procedure be announced or caution signs placed on drinking their water. New Year's Eve our suite was flooded from the bathroom. My husband called to report the "emergency." No one came for the longest time and when they did they were surprised it was an "emergency." Then a plumber had to be found to turn the water off. By this time, half the suite was full of water and the laundry bag on the floor in the closet was soaked, suitcases under the bed drenched. Happy New Year! A bottle of champagne for our nightmare would have been nice touch. We just got a phone call asking if everything was all right. Technically, "yes", but "no," if you consider a noisy machine blowing it dry all day and for the next day. Also, the smell was putrid but there were only a few days left in our voyage and we were too sick to argue about changing rooms anyways. -Needless to say I got sick on the voyage and so did my husband with the mystery flu/ cough. This necessitated visits to the doctor and medications. We bought Princess travel insurance but I have a feeling this will not go well either when we try to claim those expenses. I will write another review to share these results good or bad. -Entertainment was not up to par especially in the Piazza where we spent most of our evenings at the International Cafe. Every night, for 31 days we listened to tango music which three couples danced to every night.This did not leave much room on the floor for others to partake with a slow dance. Also, more seating is needed in this area. -Buffet was not hot or tasty; unrecognizable spices in the food. When we got sick, we opted for meals at the buffet so we could choose soup or salad and leave without the long social aspect of Traditional dining. As usual, the staff was outstanding but the meals were not appetizing. The buffet selection area is too confining and needs to be organized better. The intense vibration during the meal was annoying. -The worse thing, that I could not get used to, was the constant, intense vibration all over the ship, especially my bed at night. It rattled my teeth, it was so strong. Also it did not add to our dining experience in the Buffet Restaurant. This mystery vibration that I have "never" experienced on any ship I have ever sailed on made me worrisome for the whole voyage. -The Passenger Service's desk was not a friendly place to visit. They reluctantly solved our problems. We went there three times: bill dispute the first few days, dirty water in the suite, flooding of our suite and charging for laundry from the flooding in our suite. Don't bother with their boss, she was just as unsympathetic. -Daily activities were juvenile. More educational seminars about future ports would have been appreciated more. TV movies in the room were repetitious and dated. News networks should incorporate more international, unbiased outlets. -Tours arranged by Princess were very expensive and not worth it. The buses for our first 3 destinations were so cramped, we cancelled all our tours we had pre-booked on line beforehand. At future ports, we got off the ship with another couple we hooked up with, negotiated with local taxi drivers and had a very rewarding experience on each tour we took. -Disembarkation was a nightmare! To end, I realize a cruise this long will have issues but we will not take one this long again and we will have to think long and hard about the Princess Cruise Line ships. My first complain complain is the bed furniture need to be replaced very badly, the mattress has cave in that make us feel like sleeping in the sink hole (it also happen to friends of us on other room), otherwise the room is clean and cozy except the shower room is so tiny, it doesn't have room to turn around for a skinny person like me (I am only 140 pounds and 5 feet 7), I wonder how can I 200 pounder can take their shower. Second is the embarkation is a mess and chaos, our priority boarding is long and tiresome, other than that everything is excellent: the boarding process is somehow smooth, the food are excellent and the dinning service is excellent but the buffet service is not good (stuff are talking to each other and ignore our present, so we have to get our own drink after waiting for 30 minutes), all on board program and activities are excellent, never have a bore moment.. The Crown Princess needs some work. IE: Paint, repairs etc. That being said the crew (nearly everyone) we came in contact with were fabulous, friendly, helpful, informative, polite, & accommodating. Food overall was the best we have ever had with Princess on a longer than 7 day cruise. Local entertainment that joined us in several ports were great. Though the music was very good we need more on deck during the sea days. The exercise room should & needs to be open at 6:00 not 7:00. We were there everyday & there was always a large group waiting to get in at 7:00. We are Casino players & the staff was on the most part very friendly though we could have used more BJ tables. Only 2 were open most of the time. We seldom ate in Horizon court as we opt for a light healthy breakfast from room service. Lunch mostly was the Lido grill or Pizza; always good as per normal. We ate at Crown grill twice & it was great. Dinner was always fun (great wait staff) & mostly VERY good & if we did not like something we sent it back & opted & received another choice cheerfully. We originally signed up for the 31 day cruise but cut back to 17; though the other ports coming up next probably would have been just as exciting as ours were. Read Less

Princess is our favorite cruise line because of the best organized activities onboard, but we've only been on Holland, P&O, Carnival, and Royal Caribbean. On this trip, we had Theo from Brazil as our Zumba instructor, he is the greatest! I also love the line dancing instructor (her name escaped me), trivia pursuit, games and craft... Love, love, love the Piazza where one can people watch and get great little snacks. The specialty coffee bar is near by and they even have organic teas. The production shows are very good even though I've seen the same ones numerous times. The production shows runs for about 2 years before new ones are presented, but I still love them. We did not have the friendliest cabin steward but she did her job and was acceptable. Occasionally, a venue would be at the Explorer Lounge and finding a seat is difficult, maybe Club Fusion would be a better choice. Read Less

We usually cruise Disney with the kids but it was just two adults this time. Food everywhere on Disney is great. Specialty restaurant rez at Crown Grille was wonderful. Not a big fan of Cabo-very touristy and constant sales pitch from locals. Arch tour was great (use local vendors-MUCH cheaper and same experience). Cruise personnel very friendly and helpful. Music and dancing was great selection. Purchased the all inclusive drink package and was well worth it. Between cocktails, soda, waters, coffee, smoothies, and fresh squeezed orange juice we came out ahead everyday. It was our first with Princess (20 cruises total) and I would sail with them again. This is our 3rd cruise to Hawaii and the best. Loved the Crown Princess. It was well maintained and looked fresh. Serving staff were efficient, friendly and courteous. Although this was a medium to large ship with over 3000 passengers it never felt crowded. The entertainment, especially the Princess Theater Singers and Dancers, were excellent. Embarkation and debarkation were efficient and we were on and off quicker than we've ever been on a cruise. Our only issue was with our excursion in the port of Honolulu. We wanted to experience a "real" Hawaiian luau and the Polyneisian Cultural Center is one the most popular attractions on Oahu. So we looked at the excursions for this event. There were two and they were $120/person different in price. The more expensive one said that it was a traditional luau with the pig roast in a pit with Hawaiian Hulu dances as well as a late night Hawaiian Stage show. The less expensive one said it included a complentary buffet type "luau". We selected the expensive one to get the traditional luau. When we got to the venue after a 90 minute drive and we were broken into gourps of about 20 and assigned to a tour guide. Our guide as a lovely young women who was a student at the local Brigham Young University. She was nervous and it appeared as if this was her first experience as a guide and being foreign born had some issues with the English language but despite that we had a nice tour with her. Unforturnately we only got the complimentary buffet luau with another 1000+ people cramed into a large ampitheater at folding type picnic tables where we were herded in groups to one of the 20 or so buffet tables each of which was about 10 feet long with lots of salads and a couple of selections of shredded and BBQ pork. There was a series of dancers during the dinner and you could see them if you were not seated with your back to them. I think our guide took us to the wrong building for the luau since there were serveral other buildings where one could eat. One was a very nice prime dining experience which is where we probably should have been taken. The next day we went to the Princess Excursion Desk and talked with a nice young man about the issue. We tried to explain what had happened and asked why we had paid over $120 more for an excursion that essentially was the same as the less expensive one except for the Hawaiian Stage show. This was an excellent show but not worth $240 for the both of us. After some time the Excursion Desk staffer seemed to understand our question and disappointment. He said he would contact the excursion provider and get back with us. He never contacted us before we debarked 6 days latter in LA and we've had no word yet. This is the second time we have not had a pleasant excursion experience with Princess, the first being on Aruba 3 years ago. Read Less

Been wanting to see the south sea islands especially Tahiti and surrounding islands. We enjoy the ocean voyage especially the daily programs. They seem to target varied interests in passengers. Really enjoyed the crossing the equator program. One of the things we enjoy are the excursions at all the port stops. There are enough excursion selections to appeal to most passengers. The dining experience allowed us to try many dishes that we would not normally try at home. It has been our experience that the cabin service and indeed the service of all crew members is very professional and give the feeling of being personal. The boarding process was swift and expedient. The only drawback was the waiting to board and not enough seating for the waiting passengers. Debarkation was the best we have ever experienced. The waiting was held to a very short time and we were led off the ship in a very orderly manner to pick up our luggage. Overall a very enjoyable ocean voyage. Read Less
