We traveled on the Crown Princess British Aisles Cruise mainly due to it's itinerary. It was our introduction to the British Aisles and my wife and I traveled with our next door neighbors. Let me preface this review in stating that we are Royal Caribbean regulars and are making most of our comparisons based on that. We arrived two days earlier at Heathrow and our United flight arrived 1/2 hour early around 9 pm, I was worried that our 'Shared Arrival Transfer London Airport to Hotel' booked via Trip-Advisor wouldn't be there but he was (they keep on-top of arrival info, so make sure your Flight info is updated before you fly). Even though it was a shared transport we were his only fare arriving at 9:30 pm and with little traffic at that time we checked in to the Park Plaza Victoria (which is a great hotel near Buckingham Palace) by 10:30pm. We planned to try to cram in as many highlights of London in one day as we could but realistically settled on doing the Tower of London at 9 am (it took 2-hours minimum), Westminster Abbey at noon and The Staterooms at Buckingham Palace. We purchased a Oyster card for Tube travel and began at 9 am opening at the Tower (by the time we were leaving lines to see the crown Jewels were over a hour wait so make a bee-line there first) make sure you purchase your tickets from: https://www.hrp.org.uk/tower-of-london/#gs.zywwgy before you arrive otherwise the lines for tickets will take some time. Of the three we thought the Abbey was the highlight. We pre-purchased reserved seats (reserved for an extra 3-pounds each) for 10 am on National Express bus from Victoria Coach station (.6 minute walk from the Park Plaza Victoria) to Southampton Coach Station for $13.50 each one way. Note that as we were getting on our bus the Princess Bus Transportation was loading right next to us. When we arrived in Southampton at noon we immediately got a taxi to the cruise ship for 8 pounds. Embarkation using the Medallions was quick and we were on board by 1:30pm. This is a port intensive cruise with only two at sea days so we chose anytime dining because of the late sale-away times. We didn't want to be tied to a set dinner time. With the ship off a refresh dry dock in 2018 I was surprised by the state of disrepair we noticed around the ship. Vinyl applique sheets peeling off elevator surfaces, numerous dents on hallway walls, Tile baseboards held in place by caulk in numerous public bathrooms, two drawer fronts came off when opening in our stateroom. All small items but they all add up to create a sense that quality workmanship & maintenance are not a high priority Didn’t think much of the common areas in the ship, it had a closed in small feel with very few views of the ocean. The main Piazza area was only three stories high and had very little room to watch entertainment. Typical shops jewelry, watches, overpriced souvenirs, lacking any sundries shopping that you might have forgotten to pack. Photo services lacked any creativity, probably due to lack of any open spaces to take them. Entertainment was hit or miss, enjoyed the comedians, magician (card tricks), band that played every night, Thought the stage shows were lacking, they don’t come close to the quality found on Royal Caribbean ships, we watched for the first 10-15 minutes and gave up. Food in the main dining room was good nothing outstanding. Many of the meals were very small portioned, my cocoa pork loin while probably the best tasting dish on the cruise was five bite sized pieces. Shrimp cocktail has the smallest shrimp I’ve ever seen, formal night lobster tails were small and dry. Every night we’d get recommendations of 1-2 dishes to avoid from wait staff , that’s never happened before (clue get rid of dishes that don’t work). Wait staff for the most part were amazing in all venues. The Horizon Court buffet was also good, nothing outstanding, hard to find seats during breakfast especially on sea days. Over easy eggs on the egg station were either over hard or often cold, scrambled eggs had an odd taste leaving the only way to get a good egg dish was thru the omelet station. Free coffee only available in dining rooms were brewed weak. No free coffee or tea at the International Café (free coffee and always available on Royal Caribbean ships similar venues). International café had a great selection of salads snacks, pressed sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, cookies, deserts and a Gelato station charging 3-scoops for $3.50. Best Pizza I’ve had on a cruise, Salta Dog Grille, on Lido Deck poolside, burgers and dogs were good, offered signature Ernesto Burger for $5 or the Ernesto w/Beer for $8 (no brainer since a bottle of beer was $6.75). We booked the Princess transfer to Heathrow which was the lest expensive and most worry free way of departing. We disembarked at 9:15 am buss departed the port at 10:15 and arrived at Heathrow at 11:30am for a 3:30pm flight. Our travel companions had a 1:30pm flight and disembarked the ship at 6:15am. Overall my main reason for booking this cruise was for the ports. While I was hoping for more (we all do), what I received was a decent cruise on a aging ship. Princess needs to pull a page from Royal Caribbean’s playbook and treat every ship like it’s our best ship, staying on top of maintenance, providing the best in entertainment, amaze us with great food venues. If Royal had offered the same itinerary, I would have cruise with them hands down. Again I was hoping for more, I wanted to be wowed, I could have been a convert to Princess. Maybe all princess ships aren’t the same but I don’t want to waste another vacation hoping for more. Read Less

We are Elite Members with Princess and this was our 2nd cruise around the BI. Our previous cruise of the BI was 5 years ago. We have also sailed multiple times with Holland America, Norwegian and Carnival. Let me give you a comprehensive review of our experience. Embarkation/Disembarkation: Both went smoothly. We purchased EZ Air, took a transfer from Heathrow to Southampton and were in our cabin by 11:30 am. However, unless you're at sea for a couple of days and you can rest up, I'd recommend staying overnight in London for a night or two; otherwise you miss the first day or so while catching up on sleep, because the sea/ocean air will make you relax anyway. Cabins: We upgraded this cruise and have stayed mostly in balcony and mini-suite cabins. They appear to be larger than other cruise line cabins. I agree with some comments they could do with a face lift, but beds are comfy and otherwise ok.If you are not used to Princess cabins, they have US outlets and it's a good idea to bring an outlet strip. Dining: My favorite place for breakfast is Horizon Court because of variety and quality. My husband likes Int'l Cafe because that's where they have the best coffee. Lunch is good in HC, too. Dinner we had in MDR. Agree, some of the choices are not the best - and too much beef, but we always found something on the menu we liked. I tried the Regional choices many days. Chocolate Journey desserts were yummy. Didn't try the specialty restaurants this time. Room service was good and quick, but menu needs an update. Activities & Entertainment: Kevin Tugwell was CD. He's ok, as are his staff, but the multiple (sometimes back-to-back) evening trivia and game shows became soooooo annoying and frustrating because that was often the only so-called entertainment that evening. The worst was when they attempted some amateur dramatics - we walked out. The cruise staff shouldn't be your entertainment in the Explorers Lounge. We did enjoy Voice of the Ocean/Karaoke - great talent on this cruise. Princess Orchestra is fantastic. Guest entertainers we liked were Michael Harrison (ventriloquist) - had the audience in stitches; George Casey and Ricky Jay (comedians); Jasson Allen (singer) and Johan Andersoon (singer). Ella also did a great job of Irish singing one evening in Princess Theater. Princess Singers and Dancers were ok. Liked the first two shows, had seen Encore before and walked out of Magic To Do - so boring. The local Folklore Dancers and Singers were mediocre - have seen and heard much better. XCite was a new band that boarded our ship and played most evenings in the Piazza - really enjoyed them. Because of cooler weather, didn't see any MUTS movies, nor were there any deck parties. Couple of piazza/balloon efforts. They had a few Zumba classes (free), but at odd times of the day. Service & Staff: We found the staff to be mostly friendly and helpful. They had a few issues with TVs on this cruise, partly because of the introduction of the Medallion. Both were competing for the internet, but they had an expert board the ship in Dublin and the issues seemed to improve after that. Medallion Class: This was new to the ship and there were a few hiccups, but generally it was quite well accepted. We've used it on other ships and it's fine when it's operating smoothly. Other Passengers: Typically, majority of passengers were from the US, Canada, Australia/New Zealand, and the UK/Ireland. We also had a tour of passengers from Mexico City. However, all communications are in English, so you really need to have someone fluent in English in your party; otherwise you'll miss a lot. Not sure how many people really read the daily Princess Patter, as the Captain got quite annoyed with the bad behavior of a few passengers. Ports & Tours: The selection of ports was great. At 2-3 ports, reps from the local Tourist Office were available in the Piazza to answer questions and provide maps/directions. I did a couple of self-directed tours on this trip. For example, in Cobh (pronounced Cove), I visited St. Colman's Cathedral. It was on a steep hill, but well worth the visit. Absolutely gorgeous and a couple of our passengers had written in the Visitors Book that they had emigrated to the US from Cobh over 60 years ago. In Liverpool, it was pouring down, but I dressed warmly and visited the two cathedrals there. While at the Catholic cathedral, I witnessed a christening. Most people had the sense to take the Hop On Hop Off buses, but I walked all the way. The Easy Loch Tour was a bit disappointing. It was a bus ride around the lakes and mountains. We did stop at Luss by Loch Lomond and saw a bride. In general, I think it's time to change up some of the tours offered and they are expensive, but guarantee you won't miss the ship - that is, unless you miss the deadline to get back to your bus. That happened on two of my tours. We had to leave without one couple and on the other one we waited longer than we should and the tour guide was really annoyed with them. More people are going for independent tours, but I noticed a lot of people were very late embarking the ship at Invergordon and they were on independent, not ship's tours. The Captain also made it clear in Edinburgh that we wouldn't wait for any late comers. Weather/What to Wear: Even for end of July/early August, the weather was a little cool. It was best to wear 3 layers - Tshirt, thin sweater or sweatshirt and a jacket - during the day. Evenings, they request passengers wear "smart casual" clothes and 2-3 evenings we had formal wear. Unfortunately, some people don't/won't understand the meaning of smart. We enjoyed this cruise overall, but maybe we have an advantage because we have sailed so many times with Princess, we know what to expect and how to get around any issues that arise. We did complete the survey after the end of the cruise and we know the corporate staff at Princess read Cruise Critics. I try to be honest, but fair. We've booked our next cruise on Princess. Always wanted to do a British Isles cruise and the itinerary and dates worked well for us. We arrived one day early to Southampton and stayed at the Harbour Hotel and Spa--which I highly recommend. We did exploring around Southampton which was fun--turns out Southampton is nicer and more up-to-date than what I had imagined! Embarkation went great--got right on and bought my coffee card. I do wish Princess would find an alternative to the current method of keeping track--key card/medallion. I preferred the physical punch card. Our stateroom was C743--great balcony, really enjoyed it. Anytime dining went well, did have to wait a few times but it really wasn't a very long wait. Did make us appreciate Traditional Dining a little more in that you seem to have the more experienced servers there. There were several times when the hostess from Anytime Dining would walk us to Boticelli Dining room and we got to experience the service there. Overall the service onboard was good. We enjoyed the ports and our excursions but were not at all happy with how pricey they were. Seems like Princess has started to increase their rates and are definitely playing the game that hotels and airlines are playing--increasing the prices as time goes on. Disembarkation went great. We would go to this area again on our own and would only do this cruise again once we've gotten many more cruises under our belt. Read Less

We have never cruised with Princess but we liked the itinerary to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed! This is a fantastic cruise line. The embarkation was flawless. Our stateroom was ready upon arrival. Everything around the ship was clean always. The entertainment was fantastic. We kept busy going from one venue to the next, not to miss anything. Our favorite was Project 5. They interacted with the crowd and were great musicians. They dedicated a song to us for our anniversary. We were so impressed with the buffet line! So clean and not crowded. Never have seen that on any other ship. We like the any time dining and was seated with a fabulous server, Hardika. He made certain that our dining experience was over the top. The food was good but not fabulous in the Michelangelo. But we were never hungry! We met some of the nicest people on the cruise. The clientele was great. We tried to participate in as much as we could but there was plenty that we just couldn't do. Our room was always clean and in order. The food areas were always clean. The Salty Dog had great food, great pizza. Plenty of pools so there was plenty of shade and room in the hot tub and pool. Easy to get around the ship. Drinks were good. Ports were fantastic! It was so much fun. We will definitely go on another Princess Cruise. Disembarkation was a breeze. Very well organized by all. We were very impressed with all of it. Read Less

we were looking for a 10 day cruise with good hot weather, which we did get. We have been on this ship before and it has since been refurbished but I'm not sure what parts. It seemed exactly the same as 10 years ago. Maybe the specialty restaurants which we did not go to. The cabins were exactly the same but with very mushy beds. We chose twin beds which were extremely small and too soft. They had very heavy duvets on the beds which might have ok on a trans ocean crossing but far too hot for the caribbean. The ports we went to were just ok. Bonair was very interesting. We took a ship excursion in Grenada but the driver just took us to each stop and opened the door to the van and told us nothing. I complained at the ship but they just apologized. At St.Thomas we would have had to take a taxi to town which was charging $5. per person for approx.2miles. We didn't bother. The Princess Cays was very nice. A nice time to swim in the ocean. Entertainment is very good on the Princess which is one of the reasons we keep coming back, but I would go on a newer ship if we do it again. Read Less

We chose this cruise since there were some islands on the itinerary that we hadn't been to before. We love the crew on the Crown so we wanted to sail on her again and this was our 4th time on her! We live in NE Florida so for a change we drove down to port the morning of the sailing. We parked our car at the Park N Cruise and caught the shuttle to port. We arrived around 11:45 and were onboard by Noon, just in time to get lunch in DaVinci dining room! Easy peasy! Our cabin was on Baja Deck, midship. Nice cabin, in very nice condition except for the AC...our cabin was very warm and it wouldn't cool down. I always bring a small battery operated fan so that helped. The "ventilation worker" came to our cabin a few times and customer service followed up several time to see how the cabin temp was. It did get a wee bit better and the last day they offered us some obc credit to make up for the issue. Our room steward, John was quick and efficient! We sailed on the Crown 25 day sailing in the Med last October and the food in the dining room was not good. This time however, the meals in the dining room were very good! Not a bad meal for the whole 10 days! Very impressed by the change! Our waiter and assistant waiter were both friendly and efficient! The new "late dining" time was 7:15 but they opened the doors at 7:05 most nights. The new time fit with what we like to do onboard and if you want to make it to one of the shows(9:15), it works well We ate in Crown Grill the first formal night, and it was lovely as usual! However, they rolled out the new wine list on our sailing and when we ordered a bottle in the Crown, they had a hard time finding it...took 20 minutes! We did try some of the new wines and were very pleased with our selections. We played Trivia several times and actually won 3-4 times! We attended several of the game shows which are always fun! We went to Kareoke and the Voice of the Ocean audiions and that is always entertaining! The cruise director staff was great! We particularly enjoyed Allwynn and Song! Very fun and funny! We didn't go to any of the shows in the Princess theater having seen many of them on our October cruise. We went to a few in the Explorers lounge and they were good. I played Bingo twice and was very dissappointed with the higher priced packages...even higher than just 5 months ago! And I found the hard sell on the "tablets" to be extremely irritating. Smallest tablet package was $69!!! Won't be playing bingo anywhere near as much as I used to. Very disappointing....but I must say this was the only real downside to this sailing. For one of the few times, we booked all Princess tours and they were good to excellent. Whale Watching in Dominica was a real highlight! And we also ventured to a sailing on the "AquaSpace" vessel, a one-of-a- kind 40 year old exploring boat that Jacque Cousteau used for some of his explorations! Very interesting and different! In Aruba the DePalm island beach break was nice and relaxing and included drinks and lunch. Overall, we found the Crown to be even better than before and it was reflected in being voted #2 ship in the fleet only behind the Regal! The health inspectors came onbaord mid cruise and gave the Crown 99 points!! That's really saying something for a ship as old as the Crown! I give credit to the Hotel General Manager, Andreas Pitsch for all the quality improvements....he is doing an excellent job! We will definitely sail on the Crown again! Read Less

We wanted a relaxing time away and to warm up!!!. The crew was exceptional especially in the bars and international cafe The Salty Dog Grill had exceptional grilled food and offered a good variety. It could be substituted for main course if you don't want buffet or dining room. The dining room breakfast was good far better than dinner. Service at dinner was always slow. We really enjoyed the buffet. The dinner was different each night with a theme from different countries. It was exceptional. Dining room sit down was so so. Entertainment was fantastic and they offered a variety of venues nightly. The singer and dancers on this ship were very good and voices paired up very well. The highlights were the comedian and the ventriloquist. The both did two shows with the ship using the smaller venue stage which worked out great as they staggered start times between them and the main show in the princess theater. The ports were varied and offered a variety of choices to everyone. Read Less

Our cruise gang chose this cruise because of the less frequently visited islands on the trip. We enjoyed the 10 day cruise with 4 adjoining balcony cabins on Caribe deck. The extra large balconies allowed the 8 of us to gather together both morning for coffee from international café and evening over wine we brought along! We experienced the gambit from a day at the beach in Antiqua to our catamaran sail in St. Kitts. The crew was both entertaining and helpful in every way. The wine drinkers in our group enjoyed Vines bar and the beer drinkers liked the wheelhouse bar before dinner. We enjoyed both Crown Grill for awesome steaks and Sabatini's for delicious Italian ,as well as the dining room for excellent dinners. We found the entertainment to be varied enough for our group ,but the comedian was outstanding and we enjoyed both of his shows!! We found the crew to be fun loving and helpful in every way. We will be sailing with Princess again very soon. Read Less

I chose this cruise because it was a 10 day cruise and our friends have not been to these islands but we have seen them before. We drove to Ft. Lauderdale so embarkation and disembarkation was easy. Easy parking as well. Our favorite island is Aruba and St. Thomas. Grand Turk was great. Not a fan of Dominica or Grenada. We went on 4 excursions and they were ok. This is our 3rd cruise on Princess. The ship is older but doesn’t show it. I prefer the smaller ships. Went on the Oasis and it’s just too big. Horizon buffet is very good however trying to find a table was very hard. Need more smaller tables for 4 people. 2 people would table up a whole table for 6 to 8. We do Anytime dining. We always got right in. Not a fan of the food however. We only went 3 times. I feel people go to this dining if they are first time cruisers. Not worth getting all dressed up to go to this type of dining. Loved the Steakhouse! Liked the pizza and burger restaurants. Also we were disappointed with the Crab dinner you pay extra for. Did this dinner on another ship and it was fantastic. Pool is very COLD but nice. Movies and music by the pool VERY LOUD! Can’t even talk to your friends. Not relaxing by the pool with entertainment blaring. My cabin steward Mario was fantastic! Answered every question. Room was nice and clean. Loved the layout of room. Outdoor bartenders were great but not enough people walking around to get you drinks. Been on a cruise 8 times and I would rate this one a 7. Did not go to any entertainment or casino. Casino smelled like smoke. Read Less

My husband and I won this cruise at our Jack casino in Cincinnati, Ohio. This was the first time we cruised with Princess cruise line. We have enjoyed over 25 cruises over the last 25 years with Carnival, Royal Carribbean, Norwegian, Holland America and Celebrity. We flew into FLL airport day of the cruise and took a taxi to cruise terminal. The Princess Cruise line is extremely organized and we moved thru the embarkment process very quickly with employees stationed throughout telling us what to do and how to get aboard ship. We arrived around 1130 at the terminal and were aboard ship by 1pm. We ate at main dining room every night except for formal nights. Check the formal dress code before going to make sure you have the right clothing packed. Entertainment was fantastic, cruise director and his staff were great as well. The were all kinds of activities planned daily. Service both forcabin, di ing room and bar service was phenomenal. Disembarkation was well organized, painless and option to have Princess transfer our luggage to airport and check it for us was a pleasant surprise. We chose this ship for ports or call and length of trip. We loved all the tucked away areas on the ship. The Sanctuary was quiet and enjoyable, we booked it for three half days. The restaurants were fantastic and the service provided by Antonio and Anthony was five star. We never visited any specialty restaurant because the food in the main dinning room was so delicious. Behind the fitness center is a free unisex sauna and steam room that can be used free of charge. The TRX classes lead by Dan were outstanding. We enjoyed the outside jogging track on 18 as long as people walking didn't get in the way. The shows were very good and we enjoyed all of them. The ports of call were our favorite. We went to Pirates Cove in Barbados, The Marriott in St. Kitts and in St. Lucia we did the "Joy Tour Excursion". They took us to the mud baths, waterfalls and finished up with a delicious local meal. Our tour guys Captain Phil, Nano and Jonathan were polite, informative and fun. Our least favorite excursion was in Antigua. We visited Church Valley Beach which was disappointing because the bar service and food were horrible and way overpriced. The steep slope to enter and exit the water was challenging for the ederly. Right time of year, very clean ship, dinning room too noisey and limited menu while they only offered a limited offering. Yhey tried top sell the up-grade menu from Crown Room - very tacky! Buffet selection and quality was excellent. State room was very nice, however shower too small and only had a fixed shower head not a hand held option. Seating in buffet was too limited and there was no encouraagement to share tables. Tables for 6+ only had one or ywo guests - a waste guests should be able to indicate they are willing to share. Several ports are "Carnival manufactured properties" which limites private vendors from providing exciursions (they claimed Carnival demanded 50% charge to go on property). This limites convienient access from local environments - bars, shop, resturants, etc. In some locations it is a mile plus walk just to get off the property. Also prices and shopping options expensive and not reflective of the country - one might as well stay on the ship. The least Carnival could offer would be a minimum charge or free shuttle to the town or at least the property entrance to give local vendors and guests an opportiunity to get away from these manufacture4de ports. -The cabin and common spaces were well laid out and polished. -The service was overall very good. -Evening entertainment was mixed, both very good and some average -The daily programmes were good but scheduling was not well thought out. eg last day had a lot of interesting things but the day before last was boring. -Large outdoor movie screen by one of the pool decks was great. -My kids 19-23 enjoyed the cruise thoroughly as there were plenty in their age group even though the bulk of the crowds were old. -Shore excursions were ridiculously expensive especially if you are a family of 5. How about some family rates instead of pp rates please? Go with local tour operators at less than half the price. 6 shore stops on this 10-day cruise, very good. -Buffet food and snacks were good but food menu and quality in main dining halls were patchy and mostly average. exception the creme brulee. -Fitness area was large and good, some Norwegian and RCI ships can have small areas. The buffet was excellent as well as all the other restaurants. We have cruised with other cruise lines and found this one to be far better. Unfortunately the food was less so. Embarkation in Rome was unbelievably quick and easy - best ever in all of our cruises! Seas were very rough early on in the cruise and we could not make port in Toulon,France due to high winds. Many cruisers were disappointed because they had booked shore excursions. It was understandable because the safety of the ship and passengers has to come first. We met some great friends on the trip and look to travel with them again. The cruise begins when you get on board, Nice aptmosphere on a can well laid out boat. Ship size is excellent, not too big or small. Entertainment Director and staff are very good, enthusiastic, organized and committed to the passenger. On board games were fun and well managed. Ships entertainment was satisfactory. Generally the entertainers were good and performed great shows. The comedian was outstanding and the tigers and dancers were nicely trained and enjoyable. Dis embarcation was another strong point for Princess. It was fast, efficient and nicely managed. Excursions were well presented, fairly priced and managed very well. Service personnel were always close to answer questions or solve problems.] This was a very good experience for my wife and I we are looking forward to our next Princess Cruise. Read Less

I'll start by saying that we are a family of 4 adults who only chose Princess based on the ports of call in the Mediterranean. It was chosen for Santorini and Naples, in August where other lines did one but not the other. We have cruised before, one of which was a similar Mediterranean cruise but different ports. I'll start with the positives. The food and bar staff are exceptional, their willingness to serve and make sure you want for nothing cannot be matched. Similarly, pool staff, room stewards and entertainment crew, all were fun and friendly and give the impression they at least like their jobs. The food is as good as you can expect when prepared for such huge volumes, variety is fresh and varied. The 3 "speciality" restaurants are good for an extra fee it's worth doing at least one. What they don't tell you: this cruise is predominantly over 50's. The activities are therefore geared to that demographic, which of course is fine, but could be clearer when brochures get done up. The pool is deathly silent and reminiscent of a scene from Cocoon. Can't comment t on kids clubs or a riviries but middle pools are basically kids everywhere. Lifts are slow, cause it takes people ages to get in and out, and I found the "elite" passengers almost snobbish. Gratuity as is expected on most cruise is set but no one can explain how it's divided and to who? I have no issues tipping, as long as it's going to the right people. I'm suspect staff get any of it, best switch it off and tip your favourites at end of cruise. Don't forget laundry and back of house peeps though. The negatives: Apparently high winds prevented us, for safety reasons stopping at Santorini. This is a port that requires tender ( small boat) transfer. They replaced it with Corfu. To say we were dissappointed would be an understatement; But, safety is important and although Corfu was horrendous we made the best of a bad situation. ( don't do hop on hop off there everything you can see is walking distance from port) upon return to the ship we find out 2 other cruise ships made it in to port with no problems. ( Please explain) Front desk staff are just outright rude. They don't care if you lose something, report something broken or heaven forbid need an explanation of excessive pre authorisation holds on your credit card. You see as is expected they want to keep your account in credit, however, even if you settle your bill half way through, they retain the holds. Essentially double billing, they don't cancel holds till you get off, and can't really explain why they do this. Lastly it's basically a 21 day cruise broken up into 3 X 7 day cruise, should also be on brochures. So at Athens, Barcelona and Rome people get on and off. While your card and room stay the same they do treat it as a new cruise or end of cruise. Again, this is my experience for a family of 4, who have cruised before and had similar expectations. Do research to make sure this is for you. Read Less

We had chosen this cruise because of the itinerary. We traveled 3 generations including 2 children ages 7/10. The food was beyond horrible. We are vegetarian and they put meat in our food in the main dining hall. Guest Services was awful and did not even try to remedy the horrible food. The cabins are small and outdated. The entertainment at night (nightly shows) were awful. The comedian was not funny. Even my kids didn't like the Kids Club. The room attendant was nice and was the only part of the cruise that was good. Port stops were great. We didn't do any Princess excursions. We did excursions with other groups. Princess gave us no information on what do when getting off the boat. I would go to the Mediterranean again any day as it is beautiful but I will never travel with Princess Cruises ever again. Especially if you are a vegetarian definitely do not take this cruise line. Read Less

We chose this trip due to the itinerary. The ports were amazing and the rooms and beds and service were well above average. Unfortunately the entertainment was well below sub par. Nothing to do most of the sea days and cruise Director was almost never around. We have been on 5 other cruise lines with well over 150 days at sea and this was the worst entertainment we have ever had. The itinerary was the reason we choose this trip and that part was amazing. Nice long days in the ports and an absolutely beautiful part of Europe to visit. Staff was very helpful and the food was great at the buffet but a little poor in the main dinning room. They had a very small menu in the dinning room and it made it hard to find something enjoyable to eat. Bars were good and tipping was not necessary but because of that most drinks were weak but good. Good trip if you don’t care about the entertainment. Read Less

My wife and I booked 10 days Med cruise from Rome to Barcelona starting April 28, 2018. Two years ago we did British Isles cruise on Caribbean Princess and were satisfied with food, staff, entertainment etc. But this time on Crown Princess things were not so good, though embarkation was fast and easy. I attached 2 tags to each suitcase to find out latter that one suitcase is not delivered to my cabin due to both missing tags. As soon as we had entered our cabin we discovered that cabin assigned for us by Princess, has in fact two additional bunk beds on the walls and as a result our double bed had restricted passageways on both sides. I immediately complained to customer service supervisor who has a smell of alcohol in his breath and he had assured in a rude manner that this is exactly what I booked, period. I also requested to be connected with Customer Relations but was told that ship doesn't have telephone connection with headquarters at the moment. Unfortunately I did not choose the cabin at the time of booking because Princess as a part of promotion package promised to upgrade the cabin location and had chosen cabin E516 for 4 persons (2 bunk beds) just above Crooner bar, so we can "enjoy" music till 11PM. Just to mention I had a major spinal cord surgery a year ago which made it difficult for me to go around 12" protruded Bunk bed. Whilst complaining about cabin, I found my luggage at the reception desk missing all two tags I attached to it?! The food and entertainment were below average. During mooring at Kotor Bay the ship was dragged by strong wind dangerously close to the shore and listed, hitting sea bottom. Local captain then helped to move ship away from shore and in Corfu divers checked the ship for possible problems. Fortunately we were able to make it to Barcelona. Waiting staff was mostly nice and helpful, cabin was cleaned regularly and on time. Front desk staff was helpful especially Odeth (Mexico) she tried to help us with our cabin problem but management apparently was not concerned at all. I did not take any shore excursions, I planned to take because Princess increased internet prices about 20 days before the cruise. It cost me much less for more to use local Salerno Ferris from Piazza Concordia to explore most of Amalfi Coast without problem. One with better mobility could even explore Sorrento as well. As to other ports of call we found another couple to share taxi rides/ personal excursions with us which was cost/time more effective. In terms of fitness the ship has very small area on upper level for running and walking, the other ships designed better, though one might walk at the Promenade area Deck 7. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we love Princess Cruises and we have sailed on the Crown Princess before. We have also sailed on a 14 day Mediterranean cruise but we wanted to experience new ports and this 21 day cruise afforded us 9 new ports we had never been to. So we jumped at the chance to take it. We went to 2 new ports in France, Marseille and Touloune, we went to Corsica, we went to 2 new ports in Italy, Livorno and Salerno, we went to Dubrovnik,Croatia which we really wanted to see, and we went to Olympia Greece. Other other three reasons we went on this cruise is because it included the ports of, Barcelona, Spain, Mykonos, and Santerini, Greece. We also picked this ship because it was going to be coming out of a three week dry dock rehab period to freshen up the ship with new carpeting, bedding, venues, painting, and branding. The ship was sparkling fresh and new. Read Less

This is the second Mediterranean cruise we have done A previous cruise in 2015 on the Emerald Princess was much more organised than this cruise. Queuing up for shore excursions outside the Princess Theatre was a debacle and should have been managed better. The number of tenders used for some shore excursions were totally insufficient for the number of passengers booked on shore excursions. Never seen such chaos as when over 2,000 passengers were all trying to get back to the ship at Olympia resulting in the ship leaving late and causing further disruption to the next day's shore excursions. Totally mismanaged and unprofessional. We were short-changed on some tours which were cut short and not given full tours that were paid for. Felt some of the entertainment was boring - didn't need to listen to someone playing musical instruments - needed more exciting entertainment. The specialty restaurant covercharge of US$29 per person was outrageous. I believe it should not be any more than US$10. The menu's were disappointing. Some of the dining staff in Michelangelo Restaurant left a lot to be desired. Took ages for food to be delivered to tables, then it was cold. Menu for 21 days at sea was boring. Each restaurant should have its own menu. Tea & coffee and juice should be free no matter where you order it from. The drinks packages are outrageous - anyone in their right mind would not have paid it. Drinks are extremely expensive - passengers have to keep remembering that everything is in US dollars and therefore a lot more expensive than they realise. Hair salon too expensive - two male hairdressers had no idea on how to blow-dry with a round brush. Had to return to cabin & redo it. Read Less

My husband and I travel quiet often. Love cruises but this one was the worse. We booked the 25 days, Ft. Lauderdale - Rome. Bad from the start. We were notified to be at the terminal at 2 PM., so we did. They had us sitting on very uncomfortable chairs until 6 PM. Had no idea why, never a reason, never an apology. The next day, the Captain offered us a free glass of wine (cheap one) for the inconvenience. The story continues: Will not get on a Princess ever again. Except for 3 days, the food at the main restaurant was "cafeteria quality". Juice and regular coffee only free during breakfast hours. After that, $$$$. We had a mini-suite D202, and for one whole week, we kept reporting that the bathtub was clogged. It took one week to repair it. The quality of the soap, shampoo, etc, provided was terrible. We had to buy toiletries at the first port we touched. They had the worse entertainment ever and on booked excursions, on each one, they made us wait on the designated meeting place for one and a half hour before moving on. They even played some video clips (advertisement) to keep us calm. You get up at 6 AM to be there on time and then, they waste 2 hours of our time with no explanation. We purchased the maximum Internet plan. I believe is 600 minutes, well, we consumed all of them TRYING to connect to the system. The worse Internet system I have experienced on a ship. We feel that they had no respect for the passengers. NEVER AGAIN. By the way, we paid for a balcony mini suite. D202. Read Less

I chose this cruise because I wanted to do a Trans Atlantic Crossing. The crossing was fun and relaxing at the same time. The cruise staff were outstanding. I enjoyed the food very much. There was always a great selection and something for everyone. We dined at the steak house which was very good and I would do this again. Our ports of call were amazing. We stopped in Madeira Portugal, Gibraltar, and 3 places in Spain. I would definitely return to Spain! One day in Barcelona is not enough! Our only complaint was that the ship was coming out of dry dock and wasn't ready. Our boarding was delayed longer then anticipated and the ship wasn't ready. The pools weren't open until the 2nd day of the voyage. There were many areas of the ship that hadn't been cleaned up properly from the work and that were not finished and were still being maintained. The worse thing was the smell of varnish. This is something that should have been left for a time when there were no passengers on board. Overall I had a great time regardless of the ship's state. This was my 3rd cruise with Princes. Their staff go above and beyond to please which makes me want to keep cruising with them. Also the fact that you get financial perks for returning. As long as the price point stays where it is or improves, I will cruise with Princess again. Read Less
