For the cruise from Black sea to Vienna on "Vivaldi"
con:
1. AC was not working properly in restaurant and lounge, making air very hot and humid (some days t was around +28C inside the ship)
2. WIFI internet was a joke, working intermittently with average speed around 1-2 mb/s (what about starlink?)
3. Bartenders and waiters must speak decent English to explain dishes/menu/drinks and ...
The ship was spotless and the crew was great. This is a French company and most of the guests were French. There were Americans ans Brits also on the cruise. The room was very small but I assume that since the ship traveled canals and went through very narrow canals things had to be tight. The public rooms were really nice and spacous. For non Euopeans, all the tours were included. After we left ...
We cruised the Douro River on the Gil Eanes. My experience about the ship was not as spectacular as the Dour River scenery. The food was mediocre as there wasn't really a selection, portions were small and the only food available was the food served at breakfast, lunch, dinner. I must say that the ship did try to accommodate with a food alternative when we food we did not like the fixed menu. ...
I chose this cruise because we have seen many of the other rivercruise sites (Rhine, Danube, etc.) and didn't want to see Russia at the moment with the Ukranian war going on. So, we thought that seeing southern Spanish towns would be a good choice - and, it was. I doubt we would have visited Cadiz or a couple of the other small towns had it not been for this cruise.
The pro's :
- This cruise ...
There were four of us traveling together. We previously had a 7-day river cruise, Vienna to Vienna, reserved with Crystal, but they went bankrupt. We needed these exact dates and itinerary to replace the Crystal river cruise.
The Beethoven is quite old. Built in 2004 and refurbished in 2010. It is time to redo the whole ship or sell it for scrap. The technology is dismal. Mostly the wifi ...
This riverboat was last refurbished in 2011 and really could do with a new refurbishment. It is looking tired. WiFi is free, but doesn't work most of the time. The cabin had no drawers, only shelves and a couple of very narrow wardrobes. The heating was virtually non-existent, OK when the sun was shining through the window, but the cabin was cold otherwise. Sofas in the public room are leather, ...
The cruise it self was wonderful and the landscapes breathtaking, I would recommend everyone to go for a cruise on the Douro river.
The ship was in good condition and it was nice and clean onboard.
The biggest problem was the restaurant, the food was a huge disappointment and was just not good enough, it was a standing joke with our travelling company to see what the chef would offer… it ...
We took the cruise “From the Châteaux of Chambord and Chenonceau to the Loire Valley” Sep/12 - Sep/18
Just some dry stats
Time spent sailing: 16 hours
Time spent on excursions: 20 hours
Time spent in the bus: 24 hours
Time spent on a boat at the dock: 61 hours
The planning department of the company could have done a much better job. So little time sailing and so much time on a ...
Pros and cons but overall a very pleasant cruise. We would choose Croisieurope again but not the Douro
Booking procedure and communication etc was excellent
The price was very reasonable and included drinks
Check in process was smooth and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful
The boat docked in the middle of nowhere, the only way to get there is a taxi, there is nothing ...
The La Belle de L'Adriatique is a old vessel with a capacity of 150 passengers. We cruised the Adriatic Sea from Dubrovnik to Naples.
I would not recommend this vessel for those expecting a luxury cruise. I think the European market is a better fit, but not for the American cruiser that expects a certain standard.
The lounge on this vessel is the ugliest I have ever seen on a cruise ship. ...
