The ship is beautiful. New, lots of bars, modern and clean. Plus the port stop offs are lovely. Plenty of time to walk around. We do recommend purchasing shuttle buses at the port information desks rather than on ship as way cheaper. No need to pay for excursions, just the shuttle buses into the cities needed and you can find your own way around. The staff work hard and are helpful. Our room ...

Horrible staff. Horrible Rules. Horrible Ship. 1. 1. Don't expect to drink any water on board without paying. We found one, YES 1, free tap water on the entire ship. Located on deck 8 in the buffet area. But you aren't allowed to leave the buffet area with any food or drinks to any time you are thirsty plan on hiking up to deck 8, guzzling as much water as you can, and hope you aren't thirsty ...

Costa Smeralda Not as Expected

This 3 week old ship was a disappointment compared to Costa Diadema (commenced service 2014) and other older Costa ships I’ve cruised on. The design emphasis was over the top. The furniture for example, whilst I’m sure was deigned by ‘top’ trendy designers, mostly lacked ordinary functionality - uncomfortable, too low, didn’t fit the average person. Some chairs were so heavy you could hardly ...

The dates worked for us, the itinerary looked fine and we were excited to share good family time aboard a new ship that promised a high quality cruise experience and delicious Italian food. We occasionally choose cruise ship travel with our 2 young adult daughters and their partners and especially appreciate extended dinners, good food and excellent service. We were stunned on our first night at ...

The good: (1) It is a lovely and HUGE ship. Well designd lovely interiors. And because it is so big, people get "difused" among different areas (2) One particularly great idea, their "kitchen lab". You cook a surprise ingredient meal, it gets graded by the chef, lots of laughs, a bit of cooking school and really fun. Highly recommend the idea AND the guys at the Lab who where absolutely great! ...

The ship is a very beautiful ship. It is a Carnival Destiny (Sunshine) class ship that has a slightly different layout. The decoration is very well done with some odd art work here and there. The cabin was standard to all other ships I have been on. This was my first time on an Italian ship. I have cruised on British and American ships more times then I can count. The ship did pick up an drop off ...

Bad. Horrible. Worse. Discrimination towards English speakers. Inefficiency.

I want to preface this review by saying I'm not often a big complainer. I can roll with most annoyances with ease and I rarely feel the need to make an issue. But this was by far the WORST CRUISE in my entire life. Why did we go? Never been to Europe before and Costa had numerous itineraries, dates, and prices to choose from so it was the sheer availability of options that other lines simply ...

My wife and I chose this particular cruise because of the whole package being offered, the flight, start location, ports of call, and generally inquisitive as to what we would get for the unbelievable price. With regards to the ship we could not find any fault at all with everything in general, the cabin superb, service to be believed, everything in our opinion 5 star. We had the drinks package ...

This ship was chosen by a friend,we were a group of 8, because of price, doing research after cruise ended this became evident. We are from U.S.A.and have cruised Carnival to Alaska,Celebrity 2 years ago to Mediterranean and others and this ship was the least enjoyable. This line is owned by Carnival along with many others so when we saw that even water at lunch was extra unless you had a USA on your ...

Better than expected!

My wife and I did a 7 day trip from Rome Port. The food, cleanness, staff, experience were better than expected! Also after reading bad reviews. The food is not the same for each day, and is not just burger and pommes frites. Lots of other choices. You mostly don't have to wait long to get a drink. During dinner it was depended on waiter how often you were asked for more wine. The ...
