We chosen this Cruise because it was an opportunity to know dfferent places like Stockholm, Helsinki, St Petersburg, Tallin, Riga, Port of Kleipeda and Gdingen and Gdansk finally back to Kiel. The trip was great, the Staff amazing polited and helpful. The cabin was very clean, several times a day it was checked. The food floor, nineth floor was very clean and offered several meals and the quality was very good. The special restaurant was very goo also. We only did the Ship Excursion in St Petersburg and it was very well organized and well done! The great setback is the internet connection. It would be better and more correct to say there was NO INTERNET ON BOARD. Either you have a twenty fours hours package for five euros a day, which does NOT WORK PROPERLY. Or you have choices of packages of 250 MEGABYTES or 500MEGABYTES or 3 GIGABYTES. Prices hanging from 32, 47 or 109 EUROS per package. BUT then comes the BIG catch , which you find out later written in very small letter at the botton of the page ...remember to disconnect by typing logout... What happens if you do not do so, there is a stopwatch measuring your use and then your package is gone almost without using it. An absurdity, it seems done with really bad faith!!!!!! Who after each use of your phone, whatsapp, or anything similar connect and disconnect every time. PLEASE Sirs, either you do not offer this lousy type of internet connection OR offer a reasonable one which might be used in your favor to send family and friends how we are enjoying the Cruise. We booked this cruise for a wedding anniversary. 6 months in advance we booked the cruise. On advise of Neckermann Cruises we also booked all our excursions on line a few days later, what gave us on some excursions discounts up to 35%. We choose English for all excursions. When arriving it was well organized and we got on board: impressive and a very nice clean cabin with balcony that was much bigger than we expected: a big hotel room. On the bed there was a latter that we had to go to the excursion desk. On our last excursion in Bergen there was no English available and we couldn't even take the same in another Language. They cancelled this excursion and we had to book an new excursion. 2 days later we received again a letter for a problem with an excursion on which we had initially a reduction of 22%.. English was not available but we could change it to French. We had to sign a paper but that was at full price. Luckily I had print of all our excursion with the price we paid with me. I told them that I wanted at least the same deduction as the original one. Apparently that was impossible to book in their system !!! After some discussion we had a price that was only a few euro more expensive then the original one. We felt that this wouldn't be the last excursion that would be cancelled so we went to the hospitality desk and explained the problem. They called the excursion responsible and told he that it was normal they cancelled the initial excursion (with price discount) and booked a new one (without price discount). We said we did not agree because WE made no error. Reaction: If we didn't accept their proposal they would cancel ALL our excursions. THAT WAS A THREAT !!! When we received again a letter that the excursion in English was cancelled we said that we would not join another non-English speaking excursion. Their reaction: we booked it so we had to do another excursion. After some words they cancelled the excursion. The last day -1 of the cruise on board there was a meeting for English speaking people on the procedure with luggage on how to leave the ship. There were about 20! people. The Costa guide asked as a first question if we were all satisfied. I think she regrets that asked that question: After about 10 minutes she stopped the negative answers on her question (we said nothing) and she told us not to judge the cruise based on the excursions... Apparently there was on the first day a welcome meeting in English, that no-one present was aware of but that we have seen for other languages when we passed through the saloons. They had forgotten to notify the +/- 100 English speaking passengers on board. In that welcome meeting they would ask that all english speaking people would only choose the same 1 excursion per day, because of lack of English speaking people. INCREDIBLE! When we were on excursions with multiple languages on 1 bus/boat they first spoke the other langauge. The English speaking heard something like: The building that was on your right was... ) = Always to late. Another example was in Bergen where the guide did an explanation in French in a street. She told them they could walk around an to be back in 20 minutes. Then she explained it in English some 15 minutes and we could walk around and had to be back in... 5 minutes. It was always like that... Annoying. On board the performers were really Italian and Spanish oriented: They sung many Italian songs unknown for us while the Italians were having the time of their life. The HI-5 Band was the only band that played international known songs all the time. The saloon where they played was of course always overcrowded. These was our favorite band of course. The other performers was singing there texts in phonetically English! It often looked like a Karaoke show... The buffets and a la carte restaurant were very satisfying. !!! We strongly advise not to book this cruise if you are not Italian, Spanish, French or German speaking !!! Read Less

We chose this voyage because the timing allowed us to complete an earlier Princess cruise; spend a week driving the northern lake region of Italy; pick up this cruise, and then put us in position to cruise back to the States. (We were celebrating our 60th anniversary/80th birthdays...while we both were still standing.) We've traveled Costa previously. Costa Cruise Line may not be for everyone; it has been good for/to us. For whatever reason, some travel agents will not book you on Costa. If you find this to be the case and you really like your agent, book the cruise yourself and having done that, transfer the booking to your travel agent. Failing that, book the cruise yourself and forget the agent. Costa, in Europe, caters to typically not less than 6 nationalities aboard the ship. Your announcements are therefore (typically) in 6 different languages! Italian, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and English. With the increase in Asian tourists, do not be surprised if additional groups are catered to. The preceding isn't bad, it just "is". Since the groups mentioned are on board, the ship's tours are offered in the respective language. That's the good news. The bad new if not enough people of a group book the tour; the tour is cancelled. The option is to join another group's "language" tour. The tour office is well organized and joining the correct tour is typically a non-event. Regarding dining room seating, somehow you are seated with a group that speaks your language. The food is OK. Formal nights are a farce (at least on this cruise). Tennis shorts and sweater around the neck was allowed. Entertainment was generally good+. The "My Way" dining room is less crowded since the majority of guests opt for the NY one. Service was fine in the dining room. Their main floor show is excellent with good cast. The other shows are good/typical. As with all cruises, there are daily events throughout the day such as lectures/demonstrations/movies and such. Their Internet room is fine. There are also stores in which to shop and naturally a Casino. Their "front desk" will change money (U.S./Euro/Pounds) which is important since you'll need $20 in pounds if you are going on a tour in Britain and plan to snack/have coffee. If Costa is going at the time you want to go; to the place(s) you want to go...the go with Costa...if nothing else, the price will be right! Read Less

We booked very much last minute, and didn't pay a lot, so didn't expect much...how wrong we were! The connections from the airport to the ship was easy, embarkation stress-free, and on arrival in our cabin, we were pleased with the space allocated, as well as the standard of the room and its furnishings. As good as any other we have been on. The food in the buffet restaurants was fresh, varied and tasty, with something to suit everyone. Staff are always on hand to offer assistance, and to get drinks, as well as clearing away empty plates efficiently. The restaurant, New York, New York, served food as good as any quality restaurant in London, and we said every night that we would have willingly paid a lot of money for food and drink of that standard. The service was on the same level, and all staff very helpful, friendly & cheerful. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone, and it seemed that their only wish was to please us, and they succeeded, so much so, that we are already looking at booking another Costa cruise. Before we left home, we were the butt of many jokes from family & friends because we were travelling "Costa" but the joke really was on them as we had such a great time!! Read Less

We got to Rome and our luggage was lost both mine and my wife's, also about twelve other people on our KLM flight from Amsterdam. I'm disabled but can walk a little with a lot of pain. After filling missing luggage forms out we were rushed by Costa reps to the bus which we thought were outside, but no they were 1/4 mile away up the road as taxis were out the front. All the time we and other disabled passengers had to stop and slow down the rep as we were rushed. On ship we were told they will search for the luggage and they gave us toiletry bags robe and t shirt each. My wife's antidepressants had fallen out in the taxi at home and the others were in the suitcases and she was just crying all the time. The luggage didn't catch up with us until we left Pal ma so for nearly 4 days we wore the same clothes as we were told that the bags were coming but they didn't so that morning in pal ma we bought some but my wife just cried nearly continuously for the first three days and I was getting worked up seeing her like it. Must say though the captain and the staff were brilliant just the luggage was always one step behind and a few of the twelve that luggage was lost didn't get any clothes back on the cruise. Anyway the ship was lovely and so were the staff, I only wish I hadn`t booked the cruise over a year ago as i read reviews just before i went and they were right, if you like pizza great other wise food in the evening was terrible the posh nosh in the New York restaurant looked good but I Had only Jeans and shirt and when we went in the looks we had made us uncomfortable so we left and had the buffet. We could not find a quite spot any where on the ship its just music everywhere.the shows we did go to see were great but at first my wife was to upset to go anywhere. The main theme of this cruise was at any opportunity to take photos and make money you couldn`t even make tea in the cabin. the surprise came at the end as we got off the ship my wife and I and our friend pushing his wife in a wheel chair proceeded to head to the coach for the airport when we were stopped by security. He pointed to the end of the building about 50 yards and don`t forget your luggage How the hell was brian pushing a wheel chair going to pick up 2 cases and push the wheelchair to the coach it seemed as soon as your of they didn't want to know we all had muck in and help. The same at the air port we were just dropped off and had the same problem so disabled people be aware! Would I go again no to many rood Italians not all but most especially in the buffet, shows great staff great Ive had my moan thanks for reading hope it helps Read Less
