I have taken six cruises before and thoroughly enjoyed each of them. These were on the Carnival and Princess lines beginning in 1994. We chose Costa because of its ports of call, price, and reputation. It had its good points, but over all, was a disappointment.
The ship itself was kept clean and well maintained. It is a beautiful ship with many statues and pictures and proceeded through the ...
Flew from Heathrow to Miami with smooth transfer straight to the boat at around 4pm. No priority embarkation for suites however no problem as checked straight in and straight to our stateroom. Very large with large bed and two single beds for kids. Seperate dressing area with vanity and large bathroom with bath, shower and two sinks. Got to give special mention here to Putu and Eva for their ...
We booked this cruise about 2 weeks prior to sailing for a great price. Since we live in Florida we drove to Miami. Embarkation was done by number in groups of about 50. We were aboard and in the buffet by 1PM. Rooms were ready about 2PM and luggage received promptly and then off to explore the ship. The ship is ornately decorated but fun to view. In some areas it had a museum feel and even the ...
It was our first time with Costa. We are italian, but we always cruised with American cruise lines. This time Costa had a good itinerary and the price was Ok, so we decided to try. What a mistake! The main delusional points are: food, service and entertainment. The food was average, both in buffet and at the restaurant (but mainly at the restaurant, one night they presented us a chicken plate ...
It was apparent to us after a very short time on-board the Mediterranea that Costa are trying to claw back as much money as possible after the loss of the Concordia, through rigorous cutbacks in all areas of service. The food was average at best, and diabolical at worst. The communication with passengers on excursions was non-existent and on several occasions we would have been left behind or ...
I travelled with my 87 year old mother and booked the trip two weeks prior because the price was so good.
We arrived in Miami a day early and rented a car at Dollar car rental for a great rate of $23.00 total, much cheaper than taking a taxi, plus we had the car for a day to travel around. The next day we returned the car to the airport and they provided a free shuttle to the cruise port. We were ...
We had not taken Celebrity in a few years so we recently booked a 3 nighter.
The Eclipse is a beautiful ship, elegant and luxurious but not garish. The service was amazing and the food was the best we have had on any of the 52 cruises we have taken. We favor Crystal, Radisson, MSC and Holland America but are fine with RC and NCL's newer ships. Costa is a disaster and Carnival has it's own ...
I just returned from the 7 day western Carib cruise, and am conflicted about making a positive recommendation of the cruise. I truly enjoyed the ship and the crew members, but my biggest complaint regards embarkation/debarkation of passengers. As my sister in law remarked..."It would have been a GREAT cruise if you didn't have to get on or off the vessel."
embarkation - Miami - an absolute ...
They say the best place to start with a review is the very beginning - so that is how I will start this.
We had secured our own airfare on US Air, and had originally planned on flying down the day before the cruise - the way that we prefer to do pre-cruise. However - that was not in the cards for us. We missed our flight, and because we were going over Christmas week, we were unable to be ...
There were some good things we enjoyed on this cruise but overall we were disappointed. We cruised Holland American and Celebrity and rated both A+ with this cruse being a C+ at best. The ship left the port of Miami close to 2 hours late. We were in line for over 2 hours in a tent with dirty out house facilities before walking onto the ship. The procedure was totally unorganized not to mention ...
