Went on a two week (back to back) cruise with my sister and my adult daughter. Girls cruise! SO excited. First time with Costa. We all enjoyed the cultural experience. Very few English speaking guests on board. We don't speak Italian or French but they had specific English embarkation and de-embarkation talks and any relevant announcements were given in 4 or 5 languages. The ship was beautiful! Most of the staff were great. However - a few complaints. I've been on many cruises and this is the first time where sanitation was not a priority. You can enter the ship and any dining area without hand sanitizer. There is a container of it - but you have to look for it. It's usually off to the side or tucked away in a corner. I got horribly sick with tonsilitis. Our waiter told us that tonsilitis was going around the ship like crazy the month before we boarded. My daughter got sick with a gastrointestinal issue. Both of us spent some time in the ship's hospital. The med staff were great! But we all wondered if the lack of hand sanitizing caused this. The second complaint was that the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door was completely ignored. One time I was sleeping and an employee knocked and I had to get up to answer. The worst though - was when my daughter was sick - in the bathroom - nude - on the toilet - and an employee walked into the room (despite the Do Not Disturb sign) and OPENED THE BATHROOM DOOR!!! He didn't even knock first - just opened the door. My daughter screamed at him to get away. He left immediately. I don't think the guy was a pervert - just made a very stupid mistake. But seriously - who does that???? I was enraged when I heard what happened and went to the front desk to complain. They said the guy was new and just messed up. I do think they handled it well. An English rep called the room and talked with me - and later met up with us in person to make sure everything was ok. We were warned not to expect great food. We were pleasantly surprised with the dining room and enjoyed many meals there. I was expecting some wonderful Italian food and was disappointed with what I had in that regard. Plus the eggs for breakfast were either disgusting (powdered) scrambled eggs or undercooked (sunny side up) ones. We did find plenty to eat though so it was ok. Entertainment was not good. There WAS one comedian that was hilarious! He performed twice and we all loved him. The rest was so bad it was funny. The cabin was great - the room steward did an excellent job. The itinerary was great. Lots of interesting ports. Some I've never been to before. Most of the staff spoke English - so no problem there. Getting on and off the ship wasn't as efficient as some cruises I've been on - but it wasn't bad. Bottom line - I will not sail with Costa again. Don't like the lack of hand sanitizing and prefer the food I've had on other lines. Read Less

Our 3 main reasons for choosing a cruise were: 1) Relaxation, 2) good food, and 3) experiencing foreign cultures. Unfortunately we did't get any of it! Ad 1), The moment we entered the ship we found out that hundreds of young people were on board as well, and they had brought their own music, which they played loudly and constantly, especially around the pool-areas, so if you were more than 25 years old you'd have to go somewhere else. The noise continued into the evening and night when they entered the hallways, corridors and even pulled mattresses out on the balconies where they sang and shouted until the early morning. We had 3-4 hours sleep every night and after a few days we walked around like zombies and just waited for the trip to be over. Ad 2) The food was absolutely appalling! Breakfast were 3 kinds of cold egg-dishes with burned bacon and some old bread you could hardly chew - unless you washed it down with a thin, tasteless substance they called coffee or various juices, which had never been even close to a fruit. Lunch and afternoon tea were third-rate cafeterias, and dinner was the worst we've ever tasted. Soup, fish, meat, pasta - you name it - were cold and inedible, so in stead of gaining several pounds, which we normally do on vacations, we lost them! Ad 3) We had really looked forward to strolling around the sea ports, enjoying the local buildings and atmospere, but every time we arrived at a port, a security advice was put outside our cabin door, on which we were warned (and I quote): Not to wear watches, sunglasses, and jewelry. Not to change money unless it was inside a certain bank. Not to carry any id, unless it was a photo copy. And in the event of robbery we should not offer any resistance (unqoute). It left us with 2 options: Either stay on board the ship the whole time or pay a lot of money for Costa Pacifica's expensive tours. Needless to say, it has been a nightmare of a trip, and we can highly recommend not to book a travel with Costa Cruises. Read Less

We have chosen the itinerary not the ship but as the agency recommended this ship as a 5 stars from Costa fleet I expected the best of it. Well unfortunately expectations were far too high compared to reality. First of all is not a 5 stars and if I take the quality of the cabin and restaurant grounds is not even 4, I would give it a maximum of 3. The whole ship looks like it would have been furnished in the 80`s with a lot of kitsch elements. Golden metal, dull colors, and a wallpaper that can be unappropriated for certain ages. The cabin was ok in size but far too little place to put your stuff in especially if you are a family of 4. Best you have the least of luggage pieces as there is no place but under 1 bed to store it. The bed was pretty comfortable but had a dirty head far too small for practical use but we avoided touching it anyway as was stained. Bathroom was the classical small one and except soap there was no other toiletry provided and I mean just soap not shampoo. You could call for some cream or shower cap if you wanted. The shower curtain was matter of few cms too short to make sure you inundate the whole space when showering - couldn`t they afford to buy few cm more to save the stress of leaking water... Once we got paper napkins which I think was a mistake as the box disappeared after without being replaced. The towels and bed sheets always had some spots even if being newly replaced - I have never seen in a ship or high end hotel so many spots on "freshly changed" stuff. Not sure they came this way from cleaning or just the cleaning lady somehow poorly handled them - I called several times to be changed till gave up. It was also clear that the cleaning lady is overloaded - in the days they embark there was no way she manages all the cabins. Restaurants were a bigger issue. The buffet restaurants upstairs were always very dirty and disorganized. Imagine you come first thing in the morning and your marmor imitation table is dirty which I believe was left dirty from dinner as typically you`ll find ketchup and bread crumbs. Worse is that the servers didn`t cared too much even when they were told. Once the lady I asked to clean it just cleaned half of table ... anyway the way they cleaned was passing an already cluttered cloth which would leave a disgusting watery surface I used to anyway dry again myself with paper towels. Actually by the end of the cruise my morning routing was to pick up directly paper towels and clean my table... Food was plenty but nothing you would really say wow - there was an Italian theme indeed not all the dishes were tasting as expected. Prosciutto was something I enjoyed but the mozzarella they said is done on ship was not really good. Buffet was fine even if twice I had to get out a piece of hair from my grilled meat. Worse was the dinner as there was no single time when I could say wow - in other cruises we took we really had dinners where you could feel the difference to buffet in high end food here I think better stick with buffet. Twice we returned the main dish without touching it. Once we got at extra cost lobster - that came just grilled ok we asked grilled but expected some fancy tasty sauce as a completion - was not bad but that was just grilled lobster they want 25 euro for. Desserts were a huge disappointment - whatever had white color was just wiped cream that they call it one day mousse the other panna cota and so on. I remember one time when they had a chocolate cake in the buffet that was really good, tasty not something you would just take in as need of sugar.We ended up buying gelato for kids and that was extra cost but good. Standard coffee from machines was poor in taste, I used the decaf one that was not so bad on the other side. The button on their coffee machine was broken and fell down every time you pushed it so you had to pick it up stick it back and hold it so it doesn't fall again - in the 2 weeks we were there nobody bothered to repair it so you would just feel the need to tell to the newcomers the secret how to keep it in place. For drinks you need to pay extra - we just took a lunch and dinner package to have drinks during this time and we wanted to upgrade for cocktails but failed to do this on line and on the ship we were surprised to find out that it costs more then double in price so we said we buy by piece whenever we want and frankly we were happy we didn't wasted money on it. The wine they get you at lunch and dinner is really low quality and the cocktails especially at the pool bar didn't look at all appealing neither is size, care in preparation or content. The restaurant allocated for dinner was not fancy in any way and worse was that it had some separation for waiters with sinks and cupboards and if you were unlucky enough to be on the lower side facing these places it was extremely noisy as they were throwing in cutlery and plates. It was like eating in a kids canteen. Service at the first table we were in was too relaxed, we had to serve ourselves for refills with wine for example. We wanted to ask a change just because of the noise and surprisingly one day we get a paper that we were allocated to another table by our request - good news but actually we didn't made that request so suppose was their way to force us to move. We were happy with the new siting both table and service but one day after another paper, another move. This time we were so upset with our 3-rd waiter attitude that we went and asked the change ourselves and gave negative feed back - we believe that the reception lady gave this negative feed back to another waiter. Anyway at least last 3 days we had a normal service in a place where we should not feel like in a canteen. One huge negative point the dress code. For evening I expect on a cruise that people dress up a bit if not they can go in the buffet. Here in the formal restaurant at dinner I have seen people in flip flops and plastic slippers, a lot of loose sport wear and plenty of sporty shorts. I expect the personnel is keeping and reinforcing the dress code. Also no welcome to the dinner restaurant if there was more then 1 waiter there they would chat between them. Public toilets close to restaurant were at noon still missing towels, I didn't had the courage to visit the ones near pool preferring to return if needed in the cabin. Service overall was exactly that: no interest - I have read the reviews of other passengers and looks like many agree the personnel is completely not motivated, no smile, no interest I`am not even saying about any extra mile to make your stay magic. Seemed from outside there is little connection between their various levels of personnel. This is the only ship or resort where people simply don`t smile, not even when they were paid to welcome you. Photographs were having a too imposing attitude. Dinners were worse as you chew your food and the guy pops up and almost commands you to take a posing position. I looked by curiosity on the photos they print and was not impressed with quality either. Reception was another negative. If you come with a complain their attitude becomes not pleasant and if you come for another reason mostly they would redirect you to someplace else. I`m not sure why they call hospitality desk as it`s anything but not hospitality. They would not solve a problem for you but have enough time to chase you for feed back. We had to ask 4 times or even more we get the daily bulletin. On the other side they were more than happy to fill our postal box with tons of wasted paper on what they sell in the shop. The daily journal was just ship`s activities, could be nice they include something on the port of calls like we had on other ships. The upper deck was pretty busy so if you want a chair in the shadow around the pools you must literally be first thing in the morning ready to grab your chaise long if not up in the sun. For the size of the ship I expected bigger facilities in entertainment. They have 3 pools but their were smaller then on a small ship with one. f you had few kids in it was already full - felt you were in a larger bath tab. The big water slide was a catch definitely for kids - in sea days expect big lines, also is opened only few hours morning and resp after noon. In terms of activities and entertainment for us the huge positive point was their kids club - limited a bit by the languages they spoke but still you could practically have the kids there almost full day and they cover even lunch and dinner time. Other wise you have the standard by the pool games, some dance classes, aerobic etc as in any resort or ship. The theater had some attractive shows but we were never able to catch them in full given the dinner settings - not able to catch first and too late for the second. In terms of embarkation and exit from ship we can heavily complain about the start of our trip as we were canceled a flight and had to join the ship only second day while we were still paying the full cruise. We have called both agency and Costa help desk and they told us as we already paid the cruise in full we can embark second day when ever we want - so even calling once more just before leaving our hotel and getting insurance from Costa we can embark we come on place and surprise we need to wait till standard embarkation time> we were neither returned our money for the first day we were not on the ship. We took only one single trip from them directly - as practically is almost double in price compared with local agencies which is not fair if you take the fact that mostly on cruise bought trips there will be large groups and less flexibility. Worse was with kids price as if local agencies give you 50% or more discount Costa discounts were minimal for kids. Here once again no proper communication as we bought this trip in advance on line on Costa site but nobody told us we need to actually get the tickets personally on the ship - we never experienced this before as on other cruises they will put the tickets or waist bands in your post from own initiative or at least give you the info what to do. Good we asked a day in advance and they said they are out of free places and it`s not their fault - after further discussions proving there was zero communication on procedure we finally got our tickets and we were surprised to see the second day the tour was not even full. There were also several changes in the second week in terms of timing of port stay so get a margin when you plan for shore excursions on your own. This of course is not always at cruise decision and depends a lot on weather. Language on board counting that most serving of personnel is Asian will inevitable turn to English. I have several times called the room service for change of dirty towels or lack of soap and even if they answered in Italian I had to reconfirm in English or they brought the wrong item. What was pretty good on the other side is that we never waited in long queues to get back on ship and probably that was because most of stops were full day and people had more flexibility on return time so would not head all in one at the entry. All in one we were not satisfied with our ship experience from the quality of service overall but the 14 days mixture of islands they offer is really interesting. For those interested in the itinerary suggest o check other similar offers with different companies or pay a special attention to price if they decide for Costa. Read Less

What we liked about the tour: • The room was an ideal size and the placement of the bed was nice so you could walk around it and could see out the window. • Lighting in the room was more than adequate, except bedside lamps are ineffective. • Not having to listen to the Tour Director or Captain deliver a message each day. • Being able to disembark freely shortly after the ship arrives in port. • Being able to bring sodas and water onboard. • Great room service by Glen and excellent table service in the dining room (table 79). • Destinations of the ship on this voyage. No other cruise line offers package visiting all of these Southern Caribbean ports. • Cost of this tour was reasonable What we Disliked about the tour: • Bed to hard and needs a topper to get rid of crack when two twin beds are joined together. On the affirmative side the comforter was very nice. • Lamps beside the bed to too low to be of any good when trying to read in bed and there are no lights over the bed. • Shower curtain blows open allowing water to cover the floor and floor mat. Lip on shower need to be a couple of inches higher. • Milk or cream not available for your coffee before 0700 or in the evening. Could offer individual serve, powdered milk or a small pitcher out earlier in the morning or later in the evening. • Spouse came down with diarrhea and could not make a Costa tour. At the tour desk in the morning I explained this to the young lady. She said I would have to bring her a written doctor’s excuse to get credit for the tour. This is a stupid request showing lack of compassion for the customer. She would not get me a supervisor to discuss the situation. We went back a few days later with a doctor’s excuse from Martinique, written the day after the tour date, and man on the excursion desk said we had waited too long and credit could not be issued. We went to the front desk said the excuse had to be from the ship’s doctor as they could not trust any other doctor’s excuse. No one told us we had to use only the ship’s doctor or that there was a time limit on submitting a request for credit. Poor customer relations. • No written set of rules for procedures on ship. Where does it say we have to use the ship’s doctor for a written excuse to get credit for not going on a shore excursion? Where does it say you have to turn in the excuse within “X” number of days or you are too late to get credit? Poor customer service. • Not being able to bring wine on the ship to be consumed while on the cruise. Common practice on other cruise lines. Have to pay a reasonable corkage fee or allowed to bring “X” number of bottles aboard for free. • Constant smell of garbage at Deck 1, rear staircase, starboard side. • Cooler used to store ice instead of getting it directly out of the machine. Hands can be in contact with the ice and spread infections. Wife came down with diarrhea after day in Grenada (March 5, 2018). Went to doctor in Martinique (March 8th). • Room next to ours used to store stanchions and signs for controlling traffic flow. Workers in the room every night between 2130 and 2230. Wife got up this morning (March 10th) at 0430 as they were making all kinds of noise for 15 minutes. After she confronted them the noise stopped. There is a metal lip at the entrance to this room and that is where a lot of the noise is coming from. Should not store such items in area with passengers as it is very disruptive to sleep. • Almost impossible to open the four draws under the desk area as they stuck so badly. • Not enough hand sanitizers. As an example only one on Deck 3 entry to main dining room. Needed at least only per side. Only three units in the buffet dining room on Deck 9. • Step up in Deck 1 hallway going from center of ship to rear. Should be marked to prevent tripping hazard. • Only instant decaffeinated coffee served in the main dining room for breakfast. No coffee offered after dinner in main dining room. • Assigned seating for the birds. Sat with a nice couple from Germany who knew very little English and we had nothing in common with them. At a table behind us was a couple from Vancouver, BC who were very nice to talk with and we had much in common. We also had an interior seat and would have liked to sit by an outside window or elsewhere in the dining area. Do not like the assigned seating. Read Less

Our embarkation was in Guadeloupe which does not give you many options from Canada. But learning that it is a French island flights from Montreal are direct and worth going. Costa did not offer transfers from airport to ship but a taxi ride was 20. Euro and if you can share it's a good deal. I did not explore Guadeloupe as much as I wished, perhaps next time, the taxi ride from the airport to the ship was easy and I was able to connect to others going my way to share a ride. Embarkation was smooth enough although we had to wait because they would not let us on until 3:00 pm so we waited an hour or so. Cabin 2437 was clean and welcoming. My luggage came shortly after but in time to change for supper. Dining Service was excellent and food was good. I had the late seating which ended up being too late so I switched to first and that worked out better. The self service buffet was plentiful and gave a good variety if you didn't chose to go to the dinning rooms. The guests were mixed with some young families to middle and older couples but many singles on board as well. A very good mix along with many nationalities which is nice to encounter. This was my first re positioning and I am hooked I will definitely do it again. Perhaps it had to do with the weather being just perfect every day, calm and sunny, or the group of friends I met on board as a single woman I felt it was just what the doctor ordered. With Costa you have the ability to embark in different locations as was the case on this ship. I look forward to my next transatlantic. I do recommend the "piu gusto" beverage package if you like your cappuccino in the morning and expresso after lunch and a few cocktails during the day and evening. The freedom of not having to sign every time you want something to drink will be enough without the anticipation of that dreaded final bill. At the end of a cruise it is the service that makes your cruise. I can definitely say the staff was fantastic, the bartenders made my day, everyday with a never ending smile and greeting. Read Less

Overall a very good cruise with tending to excellence for me as a single passenger. Boarding was a bit delayed, because of some officials for boarder control hadn’t been in time, but however I was onboard within 35 minutes from official start of boarding. Costa succeeded to get me onboard within 20 min on an earlier cruise elsewhere, but for me the second fast boarding ever anyway. As I didn’t stay in my cabin I don’t know exactly when my luggage arrived, but for sure not more than two hours after my boarding. The ship is a huge one with a capacity of about 3800 passengers. But although the MDR was pretty full most evenings I hadn’t the impression of an overcrowded ship. There are way enough facilities to find a spot for everybody, only that passengers are reserving “their” deckchairs before breakfast with their towels is ongoing, although Costa forbids it expressively. General the service is great, especially in restaurants and bars. How can it be that some people in bars, serving hundreds or thousands guests a day, remember already the second day your name and the drink you had the day before? By the way: be sure that you have a drinking package that suits your needs, otherwise you’ll pay a fortune instead of a moderate price for a package. I got the first seating for dinner, but my request to change to the late seating was honoured the next day. The meals were in most cases delicious Italian kitchen, completed by some local courses. Nearly everything was done between very well prepared and just perfect - just two courses disappointed me personally - on a cruise of three weeks. Generally Costa could do something with the cheese offered with dinner. The cheese itself varied daily and I enjoyed it, but it was every evening “cheese with dried fruit” and dried fruit were three weeks just raisins. Overall I really enjoyed the meals offered and at home I know more restaurants I dislike than those I’d recommend to you. The excursions I did with Costa were as mostly in the industry: well-prepared, all as promised, but without the special touch. I only use ship excursions if there is no alternative locally - with local providers or on my own. As usual ship excursions were much more expensive than locals were. The opportunity to arrange things on my own wasn’t available in the Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Tenerife and for single passengers in Barbados. Absolute the best excursion during this cruise I did with an independent operator on Martinique, who is for me personally on a very good second place of all tour guides ever (Christelle from Karambole tours). Indeed Costa cancels tours if there aren’t enough participants, it happened to me twice. Once without any acceptable alternative for me, the second time I was able just to change the language and I got my excursion. The only very cheap offer I booked with Costa was an excursion from Marseille to Avignon on my disembarkation day. Costa generally offers excursions on disembarkation days (sometimes with flight time limits e.g.). My online booking has been accepted and I was happy to fill the gap between arrival in Marseille and my hotel check-in. I went to hospitality service to ask about my luggage tags and they wanted to know the exact excursion times for giving me new tags and as I didn’t know they sent me to the excursion desk. There I met the only arrogant staff member aboard who first did a phone call in Italian language (which I don’t understand), cancelled my ticket and thereafter (!) told me that it is forbidden (!) for me (!!!) to book that excursion. I returned to the excursion desk, wrote down her name and reported her to Costa as such a behaviour can ruin the name of an entire cruise line. I can handle a mistake if a booking is accepted and it turns out to be impossible by some reasons, but arrogance of service staff I just don’t tolerate. Because of her behaviour excursions got the lowest rating of all I gave for this cruise. But for the rest I recognise that she is just one member of a crew of 1500 and not representing all of the Costa Favolosa staff. Entertainment is various, I think everybody can find something suitable. The problem of the many languages spoken onboard is solved by concentrating on music and artistic entertainment. Readings on one topic are done in one lounge a couple times a day, but in always in different languages. Great if you are fit in languages, when I missed something I had the opportunity to listen later in another language. The staff is able to communicate in English and at least one other language - although an Italian vessel the many nationalities of the staff is usually talking to each other generally in English. For every language there is one hostess you can visit daily at scheduled times or during information events. The Favolosa is a six-year-old ship without any notable tear and wear, undergoing works permanently I noticed, but didn’t mean any hinder to me. Thousands of people course a lot of dirt, but when there was anything visible at all it was cleaned up in no time, the house keeping was really very alert, some cleaning was going on all the time. I found one small technical problem in my cabin (from my own job I know these things just happen), called the reception and left my cabin. It was solved within half an hour. I noticed it myself when returning to my cabin, but also had a notice in my letterbox and was contacted by phone with another time excuses for the inconvenience. My cruise was at the very end of the winter season and a large part of the staff was going home one day after I left the Favolosa. But except the one exception mentioned before everybody was extremely friendly, helpful and service orientated, greeting with a smile and nobody seemed to be overworked after months of just working. The opportunity to arrange things on my own wasn’t available in the Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Tenerife and for single passengers in Barbados. Absolute the best excursion during this cruise I did with an independent operator on Martinique, who is for me personally on a very good second place of all tour guides ever (Christelle from Karambole tours). Indeed Costa cancels tours if there aren’t enough participants, it happened to me twice. Once without any acceptable alternative for me, the second time I was able just to change the language and I got my excursion. The only very cheap offer I booked with Costa was an excursion from Marseille to Avignon on my disembarkation day. Costa generally offers excursions on disembarkation days (sometimes with flight time limits e.g.). My online booking has been accepted and I was happy to fill the gap between arrival in Marseille and my hotel check-in. I went to hospitality service to ask about my luggage tags and they wanted to know the exact excursion times for giving me new tags and as I didn’t know they sent me to the excursion desk. There I met the only arrogant staff member aboard who first did a phone call in Italian language (which I don’t understand), cancelled my ticket and thereafter (!) told me that it is forbidden (!) for me (!!!) to book that excursion. I returned to the excursion desk, wrote down her name and reported her to Costa as such a behaviour can ruin the name of an entire cruise line. I can handle a mistake if a booking is accepted and it turns out to be impossible by some reasons, but arrogance of service staff I just don’t tolerate. Because of her behaviour excursions got the lowest rating of all I gave for this cruise. But for the rest I recognise that she is just one member of a crew of 1500 and not representing all of the Costa Favolosa staff. Entertainment is various, I think everybody can find something suitable. The problem of the many languages spoken onboard is solved by concentrating on music and artistic entertainment. Readings on one topic are done in one lounge a couple times a day, but in always in different languages. Great if you are fit in languages, when I missed something I had the opportunity to listen later in another language. The staff is able to communicate in English and at least one other language - although an Italian vessel the many nationalities of the staff is usually talking to each other generally in English. For every language there is one hostess you can visit daily at scheduled times or during information events. The Favolosa is a six-year-old ship without any notable tear and wear, undergoing works permanently I noticed, but didn’t mean any hinder to me. Thousands of people course a lot of dirt, but when there was anything visible at all it was cleaned up in no time, the house keeping was really very alert, some cleaning was going on all the time. I found one small technical problem in my cabin (from my own job I know these things just happen), called the reception and left my cabin. It was solved within half an hour. I noticed it myself when returning to my cabin, but also had a notice in my letterbox and was contacted by phone with another time excuses for the inconvenience. My cruise was at the very end of the winter season and a large part of the staff was going home one day after I left the Favolosa. But except the one exception mentioned before everybody was extremely friendly, helpful and service orientated, greeting with a smile and nobody seemed to be overworked after months of just working. We chose this cruise line/ship for the Italian style/language/culture having family from Italy. We have been on the Costa Victoria before and like it very much. Although cruise lines have cut back on some the features like full scale entertainment and midnight buffet, the overall experience is very good. I have read many poor reviews of Costa Magica but most the negatives are due to a miss-match of what the passenger expected and what the cruise line provide. An Italian cruise line is going to speak Italian plus 4 other major languages. Don't expect all English even when cruising in the Caribbean. Of course food is always subjective. Some have very high expectations and other have lower. The cruise we were on had good to very good food quality and I did not see any repeat selections within the 7 days. The entertainment had been cut back but did build and the week progressed. The staff service was excellent, with special mention to our dining room waiter "Genio Baltista" who could not have been better. Very entertaining and made our dinners enjoyable. Read Less

Choose this cruise because of departure port. Been in Suites on NCL Royal Caribbean and Princess. Food whilst good was ruined by very poor service. Drinks were particularly slow to come. On one occasion I sent my main course back (after two previous courses I was still waiting for wine). Had to escalate issue to Maître De before obtaining any improvement. Same could have been said for bar service. On one occasion after 30 minutes gave up on a pre dinner drink. The boat itself was a bit tacky in its decorations two much obviously false roman architecture. Being only two of four English people on boat and only 2 of seventy English speaking passengers it created little or no choice for excursions. Any complaint was brushed over. The bath size in the suite was totally inadequate and the suite itself seemed small to others. We had to chase for our laundry return. The balcony was not well fitted for the class of cabin. Library was a joke. Whilst I would never travel Costa again I will continue to cruise on other ships. Read Less

Embarkation in Guadeloupe was a complete and utter disgrace, Costa ground crew where unhelpful, rude, arrogant and showed no respect or compassion to its paying customers. Having arrived at the port with a wheel chair passenger and 3 suitcases there was no help or assistance nor was there any luggage trolleys. The ground crew were totally inhelpful and not at all sensitive to any of the needs of its paying guests. In fact at least 6 passengers were refused admission to the ship as they did not have the relevant printed ESTA documents. Although there was WI FI at the port the Costa staff refused to assist any passengers with obtaining these documents. Once on the ship there was no one to greet us or to advise us re obtaining our keys for accessing our cabin. It was only through another guest that we were able to locate reception and then told that our cabin keys were actually in the cabin. This was the start of our 28 day cruise, the dining experience was a total disaster with no choice of dining venues in the evening, apart from paying a further 4 euros to have a pizza or dinner in the exclusive dining room at a further inflated cost. No buffet service was avaliable in the evening and you were also refused tap water to drink having to purchase bottled water at an over inflated price. The food in the dining room was of a very poor standard with this was either cold, luke warm and extremely greasy most of the food was either left or sent back to the kitchen. This is the only cruise I have been on where most of the passengers lost weight rather than gained. The attitude of the majority of the staff apart from those that served us at dinner or our cabin steward was comletely unacceptable with them being rude, arrogant, and at times aggressive to us. The library was not accessible to a wheelchair user as none of the staff knew how to open the doors to allow a wheel chair access. The majority of the british paying guest of the cruise felt that the service was of a very poor standard and that the most of the food was inedible. Some were even so sick that they were confined to their cabins for a number of days. When we complained and stated that we did not feel the service warranted the excessive service charge we were being forced to pay, we were informed that this as not negoitiable and that we had when booking signed a contract so therefore had to pay this charge in full. The British speaking represenative on the ship was totally dismissive of any concerns unless you had booked via Costa, and basically told guests that she was not interested and unwilling to help in any way. My advice to any booking a cruise on Costa is DON'T, we had the cruise from hell and were pleased to leave the boat. Read Less
