This was my first ever cruise so can make no comparison. Decided to try a cruise and see if I enjoyed the experience / type of holiday. Firstly positives : No supplement for single occupancy, large cabin which was kept spotlessly clean - in fact linen and towels changed too frequently. Glad to be on deck 10 with only neighbouring cabin. Extremely comfortable bed - bathroom very adequate Inclusive drinks package is a must - roughly £20 per day for all drinks except champagne - all day long. Excellent coffee on request from the waiting staff or at one of the bars. First class dining experience in Corona Blu restaurant. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Every night a different menu and possible to interchange and have exactly which course you choose at any point. Plenty of dishes I had not had before and some very unusual different things to choose. If not acceptable or to your liking then it is perfectly acceptable to take a substitute. Very good of choice of set wines - three or four in each category. Beautiful linen at table and I thought a really lovely experience. Buffet breakfasts with an extensive range and there again can take into the Corona restaurant or eat in the cafeteria style restaurant. If cooked breakfast is required then this has to be taken at a restaurant Fiorentina on Deck 3 - however this is no real problem. It seemed that there is some food to be had all day long if wanted ! Evening entertainment - professional dancers first class and opportunity to dance with own partners or with a professional My main criticism would be that the excursions/ shuttle buses are expensive -however I did my research and walked or used public transport when possible so actually only paid for a trip to Pisa which was expensive for a 5 hour trip. However this was no surprise I was aware of this. Entertainment in the main theatre was average to poor I thought but not a big issue for me. I joined in Savona and had a long wait for my transport from Milan to port of Savona. Landed at 09.30 and coach left at 13.30 from the second pick up at T1. However with further investigation I would have been better to embark at Barcelona. Didn't feel this ship was too crowded ( as I read in previous reviews) however I think probably only about two thirds capacity. Cant comment on fitness and recreation facilities as I did not use So there may be a few criticisms but I would say excellent value for money. Read Less

This was one of the worst vacations that I have ever been on. We are a family of 4 with 2 children, ages 6 and 8. Every port we came to we could not wait to get OFF the ship. The food is terrible and every day it's the same thing in and out. You literally gag walking through the buffet every morning because you are so disgusted and sick of the food. Everything costs extra $. You can't even have pop or a bottled water. It's all extra $. Drinking on the ship is outrageously priced. You are better off to just drink in a town when you port. The dining hall is loud and the meals are served with no rhyme or reason. You'll get your main course and THEN your soup and salad later. The food is mostly frozen and re-heated. Even the kids menu didn't have anything appetizing. A bottle of wine was $23 Euros so for us Canadians it turned out to be about $35 for wine that costs about $12 here. The cabin was the only decent part. We had a balcony room and it had a King bed and bunk beds. LOTS of storage space for your clothing and drawer space. Stow your suitcases right under the bed for more room. Good luck calling room service or trying to get ice. Bring bottles of water and fill them up using the water dispensers in the buffet. Just know they shut them down around 10 pm. In the morning, only coffee, tea and juice are included. The people on this cruise were RUDE and PUSHY! Zero manners! Maybe we're too friendly in Canada, but it was absolutely ridiculous how rude about 90% of the people are. Cutting in front of you in line, not waiting their turns, and I noticed so many people not washing their hands after using the bathroom. GROSS! We were likely in the 2% of English speaking people on the ship. The announcements are always in French and Italian first and then English. I have heard that this is the lowest of the low when it comes to cruises and I wasn't surprised as I read the reviews before hand. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed! Instead, enjoy your time going to the different ports and getting off the terrible ship. Read Less

The ship is first class, everywhere is spotlessly clean, the cabins are kept clean and tidy, the sheets, pillowslips and towels are pure white and changed frequently, as are the rubbish bins. There are various restaurants around the ship, the food served is A1 first class and really cannot be faulted, do not expect English cuisine it is mainly Italian based. My only real gripe is, that unless you pay for it, water, tea and coffee is only available twice a day, in the morning at breakfast and again in the afternoon at tea time. On board activities are sparse and not very inspiring throughout the day, although the entertainment team are very congenial and at times quite funny and good for a laugh. The things that put me off the ship are, I thought going on a cruise meant everyone boarded at the departure point and all disembarked at the finish, not so, at every port of call people either left or joined the ship, it is in truth really a luxury ferry! The other problem is that at meal times in the served restaurants, the waiters show you to a table and take no regard as to the nationality of those that they seat or are seated, so it is likely that you will not be able to converse with anyone during the meal because of language difficulties, so instead of it being a pleasant experience it can be quite a drag. For my wife and I the Costa format did not work, and many of the (English) passengers told me it is probably the worst cruise line to travel on and that most other cruise lines are better. Read Less

I am a single older lady with mobility difficulties (I use a stick to walk) and I must say I had the most wonderful time on my Christmas cruise aboard this beautiful ship. This was my first cruise with Costa Mediterranea. From the booking procedure through to the last day of the cruise, this was an excellent experience. The Ship is stunningly beautiful. The crew members, each and every one of them, were delightful. Friendly, helpful, kind and although they work hard and long hours and seem to have no days off, they didn't seem as if they were working at all. They just seemed to be enjoying themselves serving guests. It was like being the most important member of a lovely, warmhearted family. Thank you so the Spa salon staff who looked after me with massage (Maria Antonia is a fantastic massage therapist!) with hair (Dea is one of the best stylists I've ever met!) and lovely Lycel who did my nails on the first day. My cabin Steward (Sidney) was just lovely, and always there to help whenever necessary. The restaurants were excellent. I am coeliac, so it is very important that I follow a strict gluten free diet. The Costa Mediterranea catering department takes this very seriously and have their own designated gluten free kitchens! I had my own waitress (Thank you Maria!) and my own gluten free menu. The food was, in the main, really delicious. Nothing was too much trouble. Service always with a smile. The entertainment was great too, although I didn't see all of the shows available. What I did see was really good and I enjoyed it immensely. The bars are great. Thank you to Francis, who served drinks after dinner each evening. I was alone, but met another English lady of a similar age to myself on the first day and we had a really great time together. We didn't go on any excursions because most of them were unsuitable for people with mobility disabilities, but we went off on our own and explored and thoroughly enjoyed each port of call we visited. I think the only negative aspect was the unfortunate attitudes of some (British!) passengers - who go on a Mediterranean cruise on an Italian ship and expect to be served the junk food they eat at home. I was embarrassed to be British at times... But it was easy to ignore such uneducated, self-limiting people as everything else was absolutely lovely and I can't wait to go again! I do hope readers will find my review helpful and go on - what are you waiting for? - Book that cruise on the beautiful Costa Mediterranea. Read Less

Staff are wonderful, Food superb (lots of choice from Buffet - several different service statons offering different sorts of meals - so wander around first before you decide!! (preferred it to main restaurant as two sittings one is very early (18:30) and one is very late (21:15)). Gym excellent and Pilates and Yoga also on offer. Security very good. Everyone speaks english though some of the entertainment is in italian. Organisation of every part of your experience from arriving to leaving is first class and trouble free (unless you try to take an iron on board -they will find out and confiscate it!) Recommend you - buy a drinks package. Tea, Coffee, Juice available for breakfast but only water for other meals. If you dont have a package you have to pay. The paid card makes so much more sense (you can check on line what you will get - trust me it is value for money) Recommend you DONT book any excuisons before you board. For example - on your own Palma - local bus outside port (much cheaper than their shuttle), tourist office near Cathedral for maps. Ship says 5 km walk - dont think it was when we walked back along the marina and stoped off for a coffee on the way. Palermo - We took a really kitch train (you get a map) for 10 euros and then retraced the steps to have a better look at things we liked. Savona - Tourist office at Port gate - get a very good map with a tourist route around the town. Valencia - do spend your euros on a trip to the aquarium, absolutely fabulous. most undercover so good plan if rains. WIFI is available but expensive and does not work terribly well with Apple products. However, in port most cafes have free WiFi so just caught up each day over a cup of coffee on land. Anyway you are supposed to be on holiday not checking your emails!!! Quite a lot of things laid on but if you just want to chill is an incredible place to do it. Leaving port to music playing is amazing - we have a short video we took of leaving palma and still smile and cry when we watch it. As you will have gathered we had a wonderful time on this completely over the top boat - she really didnt need the Christmas decorations. We will certainly be using Costa Cruises again. Read Less

If you are looking for upper class society experience, this ship is not for you. Costa Victoria is a very laid back, relax ship. Overall, this is a ship without big wow factor like rock climbing or ice skating rink. It is quite an old ship, but some hardware have been upgraded since the editor review was made. Costa card now opens the door as well, so you can just bring one card around the ship. The inside room is tiny but the beds are very comfortable. I fall asleep almost instantly every night. Bathroom is small but for Southeast Asian size it is good. The most fabulous thing about the cruise is the programme newspaper. It tells you literally everything. It have every info you need on board and even reminds you about things you might forget. Following the programs will make you sufficiently busy the whole day. Shows at night is nice but we all feel that the Michael Jackson show could be better... Maybe there's too much emphasis on that one show. The other shows are equally good, if not better than Michael Jackson show. Food are OK, be warned there are A Lot of bread and cakes. If you are a rice person, there is always a pot of rice at the end of buffet line at Bolero. Sit down restaurant have rice options as well. The indian food are nice. Guests on board are all really casual. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Read Less

I really enjoyed my trip. The crew was nice and welcoming. There were lots and lots of entertainment. We participated in the Lotto draw and my brother in law, won a price i.e. a dinner in one of your esteemed restaurant. He was the one who took us on cruise. The ship is really beautiful. The service also was nice. The only problem is that being an Indian and pure vegetarian my choice of food was very limited. I would very much like to cruise again on your ship. Many of my friends and family members are very interested to come on board your ship on hearing how I had a nice time during my stay on your ship. I wish to thank you the Charming Captain and his crew and wish a belated happy new year 2016 may success crown your path. Read Less

Wow fantastic, Fabulous food, brilliant entertainment, stunning dancers, well looked after ship and great service who could ask for more! We embarked from Venice, all the staff were friendly and efficient. When we entered, wow it looked amazing and it was, the decor is very Italian and very flamboient but stunning. There was entertainment all day from the animation staff and the dancers but also quiet parts if you want to relax, the animation staff are crazy and lots of fun to watch or if you want join it they make all nationalities welcome and speak all languages. The evening entrainment was first class, professional and left us wanting more. I do not speak Italian but everything was in English, even the announcements for guests were in English, Italian and German plus a couple more languages but the were not many announcements. The only all Italian announcements were for staff only. All the staff speak English, menus are in English, entertainment is in English. The food was beautiful, lots of choice and variety, cooked perfectly every time, being a fussy eater I even got to try some food I would not try at home and I'm glad I did it was amazing. The desserts would melt in your mouth all cooked fresh on board daily with fresh bread, doughnuts, pastrys, cakes and lots more. If you want full English they have it all the and will cook your eggs in front of you exactly how you want them. Every country we visited we would have food from that area as well as all the other choices We enjoyed our time on Costa so much we will book again and again. After our cruise on Costa we went on a second cruise with another cruise line which was more expensive but what a difference like night and day. Costa being luxury and the other company being budget at designer prices. Would recommend to anyone. We are 40/50's English Wonderful first time cruise for myself and a one of many for my partner. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff, entertainers and for the whole experience it was true perfection from start to finish. THANK YOU COSTA Read Less

The ship was beautiful BUT it was all money money money, if you are a vegetarian then don't go unless you want omelet as that was all I was offered, can't eat that for nearly a month, they really didn't want English passengers on board, it was my for ever dream to go on a cruise as had worked on ships and wanted to be the passenger, boy was I disappointed, I paid extra for a outside cabin with sea view, was given that BUT with a life boat in the way so in darkness all the time, when asked if I could move was told if I paid more money, as "what did I expect on a cheap cruise" it was not a cheap cruise as other than the air you breathed you had to pay very inflated prices, so please think before you book, also be warned they take money out of your account every day for services whether you get service or not, and then when you buy a drink etc you pay up to 15% again, a few of the staff were fantastic like STACEY English and made my cruise, what a little gem, some of the bar staff, but if you have problems with your food don't bother to talk to the matradee Geogio Conti he just laughed if I was his boss he would have been dismissed on the spot, well as you can tell I was very disappointed and would Never Ever cruise with Costa again, and I was not alone Read Less
