This was the ONLY cruise ship available for the one week we could sail and go to the ports we wanted to visit. The food was sub-par. The crew was miserable and literally opened up about how poorly they're treated and paid by Costa. Ever since Carnival Cruise Lines purchased Costa, everything's gone downhill. The entertainment was extremely poor. The dancers acted as if they were practicing just going through the motions, and not really performing. It was an embarrassment for them. The activities director NEVER spoke one word in English. Most of the cruisers were Italian and she catered to them 100%. This was the overall theme the entire week! Even the nightly DJ'S spoke and exclusively played italian. It was as if they were purposely trying to exclude ALL NON-ITALIANS!! Many of our excursions were canceled because "there weren't enough English-speaking cruisers on board," so we were told. Never again will we sail on Costa Cruise Lines!!! They couldn't pay us to cruise with them again. Read Less

Before going on the cruise I read these reviews and thought to myself how can a big cruise company have a ship that bad? But the ship was great, everything was nice, food wasn’t bad and overall I had a very nice time. The room my family and I took had a balcony which was really nice and big. The cabins weren’t that small and 2 people could and will comfortably live in them. The restaurant on the 2nd and 3rd floor was really good, and so was the pizza restaurant on the 9th floor, but the buffet on the 9th floor was good but not the best. The negatives of the ship were that everything is expensive on the ship and the WiFi was really, really expensive. But literally everything else on the ship was really nice, would recommend for everyone to go on it. If you go with a positive attitude then you will be guaranteed a great time. Read Less

Summary - if your only language is English, it is best to avoid, it is heavily weighted towards Italian, including language, entertainment, food, majority of guests. You Que for almost everything, a lot of items were extra cost and it is not a budget cruise. Quick tips – Avoid Costa if you can only speak English. Carefully select your drinks package to suit, select your evening meal timings to suit (early is 6.45 seated, late is 9.30). Service charge is automatically 10 Euros per person, per night. If you port at Dubrovnik it is KN not Euro in most shops. Do not let your internet package run out, as you can not top it up then, it has to be re-purchased (up to 100 Euros per device) Non of the staff were helpful when it came to being charged or overcharged with anything. Full Review - We booked this cruise as a bit of a last minute choice, we had the itinerary in mind and only had 2 options, Costa or Norwegian Star, I should have read reviews but instead went off photographs, which made the cabins look dated on the Norwegian, so went with Costa. The ship itself is nice, our cabin was ok, although I am not used to cruises, so it felt a bit caravan like, I am unsure if this is across all cruise ships. We upgraded to an unrestricted balcony view room, as we liked the idea of seeing where we were going on a first cruise, this was worth it, as it was great to see it leave and arrive at Ports, or gave us something to look at. Food - Evening set meal times in main restaurant are not ideal, 1st seating is a 6.45 which for some days is too early and 9.30 which by the time you eat, is late. You do not get to switch between meal times, so decide and request before you go. If your going as a couple, have to sit with strangers at this meal, if like me then that is not for you, the choices are buffet or pay for one of the other restaurants. Buffet was very repetitive, you had to que much of the time, but there was a large selection and nice food, it is all self served, including drinks, so there is no service as such. There are set meal times, anything outside of this is charged like mini bar, room service, any other restaurants, including the burger and pizza, which are served from the buffet area and in the same seating area which is a bit of a cop out. Drinks - You can choose a drinks package, be careful which one, as its very labelled on what you can or can’t have, anything above your drinks package is charged. Ours for example was the brandino, which included branded drinks but not bottled water or cocktails/champagne, which apart from the water did not bother us, but as they ask you to not fill water bottles from the vending machines, you have to keep refilling small glasses or pay for the bottles (3 euro). Vending machines only had juice at breakfast time, all other set meals were water, or tea/coffee, alternative drinks are all a visit to the bar for a drink, in which case you have to que up, most of the time. Service - Majority of the staff were friendly, there were a few that because of the language barrier, just didnt want to know. There is no drinks service by the pool, so it’s all ques at the bars. There is no pool side service, although at the main bars inside there is table service. You are automatically charged 10 euros per person per night for a service charge too. Entertainment - Being a cruise ship, there is a fair few bits to do and a good schedule, however it is largely Italian based, including evening, with a large language barrier. Pools - Larger indoor pool, with a screen and more entertainment, does have a sliding roof but doens't seem to get a lot of sun, outside pool is small and full of children, not many sun loungers although this is one of the main areas for bathing, also saw staff taking away towels when people had only just gone in for dinner or drinks, I can understand if they are trying to reserve for hours but this caused arguments. Destinations - This was the best part, I felt you got a good amount of time at most locations, although some are early and some are leave just after mid day, I got to see some lovely locations in a short space of time, whilst resting between locations, this is what it was all about for us. Getting on and off the boat was very organised too. Although they had to change our Mykinos stop to Athens due to bad weather. Read Less

Ship is very beautiful and well laid out - enjoyed the central elevators. Service staff was exceptional - excluding the Excursion Desk (unless). Very disappointed in the food served - the Italian influence was missing - I have traveled in Europe and did not recognize this reported influence - a staff person reported that being a repositioning cruise the quality was diminished. This was Basic Transportation - pure and simple. During our 19 days we got sick on day 5 and remained sick for the next 4 weeks. Everyone on the ship had or have had this virus. Other than Purel stations placed in the buffet area little or precautionary measures were visible. I did email to Costa Customer Service about my experience - got a letter back that in summary said they would use the feedback for future travelers and 'To Bad - come back again sometime' - Never again Read Less

I’ve only cruises with Carnival and Royal Carribbean and this was my first Mediterranean cruise. I’m used to cruise ships having a huge variety of food available 24/7 all inclusive and tons of entertainment. The food on this ship is an absolute joke. Nothing but the same old pastries every single day for breakfast unless you want to sit in the dining room with extremely slow service. Terrible entertainment. Only a few channels in English in your cabin. The news and stock market. Hardly anyone speaks English, so you can’t make friends. We paid for an ocean view room, but there was a lifeboat in front of our window. There’s a fee to have your room cleaned everyday, per person in the room, even if your room has not been cleaned. They charge an arm and a leg for everything on Costa. The transportation to excursions are very poorly organized. Just don’t bother. Read Less

I took a Costa cruise 35 years ago, before Carnival got in the picture, and had a wonderful time with a friend for 3 nights! As I was celebrating my 60th birthday this year, I wanted to do another cruise. After reading some of the reviews on Costa, I was worried, but trusted my gut and with with them. We got a suite for my birthday. If you like to drink, it's definitely worth it! It also gives you some extra perks that you can read about. The 2 gentlemen that were assigned to our room, were there for our every need! Thank you Ganesh and Dharma! I had read some reviews that said "all they serve you was pasta!" I have to say, even though we could go to the Club Restaurant with our package, we chose the buffet a lot, just for quickness, and found it hard to even find some pasta! lol There was plenty of food and variety! So I don't know what everyone is talking about! I saw some signs saying, hamburger for $5.00 Euros, but didn't see the need to buy one as there were patties and hot dogs on the buffet and pizza! Whoever is going on this cruise and said they didn't get enough good food, probably needs to go on a American cruise ship where there seems to have food and buffets 24 hours a day! lol Getting on and off the boat, was very easy. Always seems hectic the first day, so just chill! Did 3 excursions while there and all done very well and worth the money! Our favorites were the Abberebello(?) tour in Bari, Italy and the Tuk Tuk in Dubrovnik, Well done by tour guides and organizers! there were plenty of activities on board, if you wanted to participate. Games, dance lessons, trivia. Plus they had nice bands during happy hour and the evenings that you could enjoy a drink and a dance. All the staff was polite and helpful when we needed. I just can't say enough! We went to stage show, just one late night and heard a wonderful Tenor sing, fantastic! didn't use any of the fitness rooms, but saw them and took a tour of the spa. All there if you need it! All in all, well done! If you go with a good and positive attitude and just be patient sometimes, you will enjoy it!! I would definitely go again!! Read Less

WE chose this trip because of the itinerary despite reading a lot of negative reviews. BIG MISTAKE. The food in the main restaurant was DISGUSTING. The staff was arrogant and unhelpful. The port calls were either too brief to do any real sightseeing or were at ports that really had nothing to do with tourism (Bari. It, Corfu, Gr). All of our excursions were booked through the ship. They were, to be generous, lame. There was widespread coughing onboard and both my wife and I returned with serious infections. Nobody used the hand sanitizers. The entertainment was all in italian (one night was supposed to be pop songs and featured three renditions of Volare while another night's entertainment was opera) and cheap beyond belief. Smoking is permitted in all of the outdoor areas of the ship and on the balconies. They charged for soda at lunch and for water at dinner. Almost everything came at an additional cost. I wish I had listened to all of the reviewers and hope that this will help you to avoid what we suffered. AVOID COSTA LIKE THE PLAGUE. Read Less

This is a good ship if you are either looking for or a budget cruise or a first time cruise. If you are a regular traveller on cruises then to be honest I think you will be a bit disappointed. The public areas are really well set out and the staff try their best. The food is mediocre. The entertainment is a bit of a let down. We had 2 excellent acts on our tours but the other nights were not great. I think the acts go from ship to ship, so the best acts are reserved for the bigger ships that ultimately costs more. The cabin was well appointed. We appreciated the large walk in shower we had which made all the difference. We went on a cruise a few months ago with the smallest shower know to man. So it makes a difference when you start the day on a positive note and you enter the dining room smelling fresh! :) Read Less

We chose Costa as at the time RCL and NCL were already booked. Unfortunately we could not booked this cruise earlier in the year due to work schedule, etc. According to Costa website is “ Italy’s Finest “ with a slogan of providing every guest with a pleasant experience from our Italian heritage. We have to give kudos to the check in process, ship was clean and elegant, cabin was clean and comfortable with a balcony Now comes the best part : Buffet menu is the same items every single day. Getting a espresso coffee must be done at the bar, and wait in line for it. Getting eggs and bacon (who knows what kind of bacon it was ) it’s another story. By the time you search for the items you want, your food is cold. Of course you might think, why not visit the dining room and enjoy some delicious eggs Benedict! Well, we tried, Egg Benedicts with mayonnaise instead of hollandaise sauce. Waffles?? Imagine a piece of toast with the waffles mark on it and the same selection of items in the buffet just arrange differently, do you want a cup of Italian espresso? Please leave the dining room, find a bar and order it. Walk back to you seat and find your food cold. Or just have a cup of regular coffee and shut up Too much for Italian Costa Hospitality !!! Dining room for dinner - please do not ask for a cocktail before dinner , no no no. Go to the bar and order it. Walk back and seat down. This is not a joke, we had the drink package and the waitress the first dining night saw our cards and said “you are from the USA , you only get water “ wow welcome aboard !!!! Samsara Restaurant - €30 per person to book a more “exquisite dining “ experience. The restaurant is totally outdated. The ship is not However the menu was all seafood. My spouse is allergic to seafood. We asked for a different menu , they brought us the choices from the main dining room. We were ask for an extra €17 upcharge to get a steak. As I ordered the entrees, one of the was lamb chops. To my surprised they have been boiled then braised to give some chard to the meat. The taste ? Terrible. The pool area is very small for a 2500 passenger ship. Entertainment onboard is a bunch of crew members who has no talent and don’t want to do what they have been asked to do To recap, please take RCL or NCL even if the prices are higher. Better food and service, the crew will be more pleasant as they are not onboard a ship for 11 months at a time. Don’t waste your money ! Vacations are important and you work hard to enjoy them. Did our own thing on this island and was very successful day off the ship. 3rd day yet again our jeep tour around Santorini was cancelled the evening before because not enough English speaking guests wanted to participate!!! Not sure yet if our tour in Dubrovnik is going ahead!! Most of the public toilets are left overflowing during the day!!! Food in Albatros restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. We feel we are a good judge of cruises this being our 26th, the Embarkation seem slow but we were on board by 2pm & I will say that this ship is well presented & our Cabin was good & the Public area's very good. My first surprise was the Cabin Steward asked us when he should come to our Cabin morning or evening, we have never been asked that before but we opted for the morning & that was it. No change of towels in the evening or a 'Turn Down' Service. Unfortunately we suspect it was our waiters first week & he was unable to put the knives & forks on our table correctly & took an age. I did complain & the next night he was given extra help. The food was average I would say & not being a pasta lover this restricted my choice of dinner. One of my complaints was that on every other cruise that we have taken water is given to all seated guests at Dinner as a matter of course, NO, not on Costa ships YOU PAY for water. My other main complaints are that at 10.30am after the breakfast period ALL Coffee machines are closed down & you are then unable to get any hot drink at all, except water. Unless you PAY for a coffee/Tea etc. At 9.30pm all food outlets are closed down & you are not even able to get a biscuit or hot Coffee, unless ofcourse you go to one of the PAY outlets & get a pizza or burger!!!! One thing to watch out for & I missed in all the small print, is that the GRATUITIES/SERVICES ARE MANDATORY & so you are unable to amend even if the service is rubbish. The other thing to be warned about with Costa is that the Information Sheet that you get each day is very limited & does not give you sufficient information about the Port of Call. i.e. in Mykonos, Costa charge you 10 Euro per person for a 3 minute Bus ride into 'Town', which including my 5 yr old Granddaughter. I paid for the 6 tickets & the Bus drops you off about 200 yards from the town, not too far I hear you say. But as you got off the Ship in Port the Water Bus (which you walk past to get to the Costa Bus) costs 2 Euro's each & takes you to the middle of the town. No mention of that in the info sheet. Another observation shall I say is that this Ship has a large outdoor screen which on other ships I have been on, show Music Type video's etc.during the day or cartoons which transcend the language barrier, NO, not Costa all it showed during the day was adverts for their Services i.e. Photo Shop etc. Costa with limited warning changed the Disembarkation Port from Venice to Trieste & because, they say, there was 'civil unrest' in the town & therefore not their choice to amend the Port (to avoid compensation claims). We were intending to get off the ship in Venice & get a taxi to the Airport, but as we were getting off in Trieste this necessitated us taking a 2 hour Bus journey back to the Venice Port & then trying to get a taxi through the 'Civil unrest', (as Costa put it) to the Airport for our flight home. My fear was, we may miss the flight so we were forced to purchase Transfers. Costa then charged us 30 Euros each (including 5 yr old) for a Transfer from Trieste to the Venice Airport. No sorry I will NOT being going with Costa ever again. Read Less

DONT CRUISE WITH THEM!!! Customer service very poor, they didn't help you at all and give wrong advices, they treat us very bad when asked for some help. I puthink money in the account to pay for excursions for 2 cabin as they asked and then they took money from each account..and when I asked to take 500€ from 1500€ to give back the other family they said I can't take out any money until I disembark. ..but they treat us badly. Restaurant: food was horrible...but the worst was that after 9pm was no food...only pizza which we had to pay extra for it. Housekeeping: terrible...linen bed was never changed in a week and was very dirty...and I was with a baby so I had to stay in that misery. Beach towels was left wet on bed for 2 days ..I put them outside the door to be changed but was taken and never brought back new ones. We had to pay for everything on board ... The drinks was only but glass never by can or bottle.!!! I asked for iced coffe and I received a glass with ice and a expresso. I have more to say but most important DON'T CRUISE WITH THEM!!! I read a lot of bad critics before going but we really enjoyed the cruise. Sure there were things we would like to change but overall it was a good one. -the embarkation was at venice. We went with the people mover from piazza roma ( tip- remember to buy tickets for the coming back to venice and skip the lines at the ticket machine). The embarkation is very very slow! We waited more then 2 hours, so no need to harry , come very early or very late. We came around 12 and and entered the ship around 3 o'clock. The rest of disembarkation at ports and at venice was pretty good )we had a flight to catch so asked to get first at venice). The ship was very clean, i thought the decor will be italian -something special, but i didn't like it- looked old fashion not at all impressive to my taste. The cabin was a little smaller the the celebrity but clean and the stewart was all the time there- very good. There was cigarette smoke in the corridor (i think from the inner rooms) , complained several times but nothing was done. The food- was very good in the restaurants, good attention and good quality of food. We were worried about the water but because our agency was from the usa we received free bottles at dinner. At the embarkation we did the water package - 13 bottles for 39 euro( don't remember exactly) - so we had water at night and at gym. About the drinking package - we were 2 adults and a 14 years kid - all of us are not great drinking - not soda or alcohol so didn't take the drinking package and bought a wine and water package- 6 wines and some 7 bottles of water for 130 euro. We were glad with this package. Had some beer (4-5 euro plus tax) and some cocktiles ( 7-8 euro). Cappuccino 3-4 euro at evening. During the last days they also selled some wine =very cheap =some 10 euro (not so good but we had for the evening at dinner). The entertainment was mediocre - had a great tenor one evening , the rest were the entertainment stuff - not at all the same level as the celebrity. The theater is very big and very well equipped. The buffer is chaos!! Very bad organised - the tables are for 6 and couples or singles occupy them leaving you no place to seat. Usually we strolled with plates and looked for a place to seat. A lot of noise and a lot of queues ...very bad experience and we preferd to go to the restaurant. Maybe less selection but quieter. The service was very good ! Last problem- there was supposed to be a teens club - a spacial room with play station and etc. No place like this just an announcement to gather near the disco...and the activity was at night with parties- this is a shame because our teen couldn't meet other children his age. OVERALL WE KNEW THIS IS NOT A CELEBRITY OR CARNIVAL CRUISE SO HAD LOWER EXPECTATIONS BUT ENJOYED IT AND HAD GREAT PORTS (AGAIN VERY SHORT TIME AT PORTS...) Read Less

I chose this cruise because of the itinerary mostly. Even though I had heard negative comments for Costa, I thought I might try it. No cruise line is perfect. There was a slight language barrier, but that was to be expected. It was an Italian ship. The food was HORRIBLE. Everything was extra. Everything on the ship was in other languages, so it was difficult to participate. Children were allowed EVERYWHERE. There was not a place to get away from them. Even bars and casinos! We bought an expensive drink package. It was very difficult to get a drink. Servers were very nice and accommodating, but still difficult to get a cocktail. Kids would be sitting at the bar. Apparently, that's ok for the Italians. I did not care for that one bit. I did not see a buffet after 8 pm. You could not really get food (and several nights the dinner was so disappointing, I didn't eat much of it) unless you PAID for it. Are you kidding me? An ice cream cone was 1.50 Euro. No free ice cream on a cruise? Read Less

This was my 3rd cruise on Costa and absolutely terrible. The port times were by far the shortest of all the cruise ships. I emailed the cruise line numerous times to ensure one of the three cabins are a twin (and received confirmation in writing it will be done) which did not happen. There was a number of hidden expenses, with a total of nearly 500euros. Previously when on a cruise I was used that everything in the cruise was included. This time around you had to pay for every single thing additional, including playing table tennis. The 4D movie machine broke and we were sent back 3 times to go and watch the movie on different days and every-time you get there, it is still broken. Bad communication by especially the front desk. We were told to buy bingo tickets at X point but when you get there, they have changed the location without informing anyone. Then again none of the activities started on time. Followed the instructions for online check in one month prior to departure and was already on the way to the airport and still haven't received everyone's boarding passes and luggage tags which we had to print beforehand. Only two very small pools on board and with a large number of kids on board, could not make use of the pool or jacuzzi as there was just no space. The public bathrooms in communal areas were not cleaned regularly. Our sea day had bad weather and the ship is not geared to accommodate everyone indoors and the activities hosted resulted in people 'hanging around' because there is no place to sit. The drinks packages are badly compiled, i.e. on our drinks package we could get a whiskey and soda, but cannot get a bottle of soda on its own. You had to buy a water package additional. We could get cocktails but no orange juice. On the soft drinks package you can get cocktails, soft-drinks etc, but cannot get a coffee. After 09:30pm you cannot get any drinking water on the cruise, unless you pay exorbitant fees for water from the minibar. Nor do they allow you to fill your water bottle from the fountain (which is also disconnected at night) Neither can you get a cup of coffee before 07:00am and some days 07:30am, unless you contact room service. When they changed ports during the cruise, due to weather concerns they provided no information about the new destination. Also some of the unfriendliest serving staff at the bars. The bars was also badly staffed so you waited most times at least 10 - 15min for a drink. The breakfast buffet served the same food every single day with no variance. Lunch was the same everyday with only one meat option changed (some days). The dinners was average. Will not recommend to anyone. Read Less

This cruise went to all the places we wanted to visit. Our cabin had a balcony and was very clean and comfortable. Our cabin steward Pravin from India was very friendly and efficient. We thought the food was good and in the sit-down restaurant there was a lovely waiter, another Indian called Jackson. In the late afternoon we would usually visit the Bar Marabile where there was another great character, a waiter from the Philippines called Marck. We had a beverage package so we didn't find that we didn't have extra expense from ordering drinks throughout the day. Our only criticism of Costa is that they sent us a questionnaire after the cruise, they had told us that favourable reviews of excellent staff would improve their chances of promotion. However all the questions were "fill in the dots"and no personal input. All the staff were good but that is why I've mentioned our favourites on this site. We didn't really take part in activities except for a couple of quizzes in the bar so I can't offer an opinion although the talent show by the crew is apparently very good. We didn't take part in any shore excursions, preferring to make our own way, partly because the excursions were quite expensive and often a bit long. There was a fierce heat wave at our destinations and we mostly didn't stay longer than a couple of hours ashore. Back at the boat the pool was mostly empty because everyone is off the boat -good tip if you like a quiet pool. Read Less

The sinking of Costa Concordia in 2012 must have taken to the bottom of the sea the whole company rather than just one vessel since cruising with them today it's rather like flying with Ryan air: whatever you do you get charged. We are quite accustom to cruising as we must have had at least one cruise every year for the past 10 years,(last one in november 2016) and we accept to pay extra for extra services or premium alternatives but in this case you get the feeling that you haven't pay for your cruse in full before departure. It's one of the most incredible things for an italian company to charge its passengers for pizza as an expensive luxury extra, not to mention an hamburger, or an ice cream. You get charged to sunbathing in the sun deck, or an egg in the morning if you are used to full breakfast rather than continental, the cinema is not longer free, and you are privilege if you get a "good morning" from any of the staff. Its also impossible to see the evening menu before you sit at the table, as all emphasis is on trying to sell you a meal at 28€ extra before you enter to the main restaurant, where if you do not like the main course all alternatives dishes carry a supplement. The ship's photographer will not survive very long I expect if todays going rate is 19,99€ for a souvenir picture. We have had 2 very pleasant cruises in the orient with Costa Victoria in the past which we liked and had no problem at all, but this is the end of the line for this company. At the end of this year we will be back with our favourite Holland -America line, where crew are bending backwards to please you and customers are not constantly squeezed for their pennies to supplement company's revenue. I am from the States, and I recently got married in Ireland. My husband and I were searching for a nice relaxing cruise to take us around the Mediterranean for our honeymoon. We picked Costa because it was stopping at Santorini and Dubrovnik, the top two places on our list. After boarding the ship, we weren't sure where to go. There was no direction and they immediately took our passports away from us for "safe keeping." That made me nervous because if the ship left without us at port, we would have a much harder time getting back to the states. We got a balcony room and it was spacious and clean, and the ship had two pools and a nice spa. The places where we stopped were wonderful: Corfu, Mykonos, Santorini, Dubrovnik. Other than that, I don't have anything positive to say. The food was mediocre at best. I was expecting hot breakfast, and different food stations throughout the day, but the only options were the buffet or sit down dinner, so if you missed the buffet there was no where to eat. Our waiter at the sit down dinner couldn't be bothered with us. There were days we sat there for 20 minutes before he walked over to say hello and take our order. The cruise may seem like a great deal until you board and realize that EVERYTHING costs extra. Pizza, ice cream at the pool, extra pool towels, even ping pong was extra. I've taken a cruise on Royal Caribbean and they go out of their way to make your vacation wonderful. I was expecting a similar experience, but instead felt like I was always annoying people when I would ask for a drink or had a question. Disappointed we used Costa for our honeymoon. Will never book with them again. Read Less

PORTS were what drew me to try Costa Delizioza because I had originally booked with Norwegian Cruise but they changed itneinary then I booked with Costa. Previously I have travelled in Royal Caribbean.. Celebrity.. Norwegian... But honestly Costa has been so disappointing. The dinners were unappetizing even the breakfast. You would ask for information at the customer service and they were so unwelcoming. The Embarkation and disembarkation was chaotic. The Wi-fi that we paid for was always down . I was Very Stressed after the vacation .Did not experience this with other cruise lines . The best part of the CRUISE was room Steward and Dinner server and the Port Of Santorini Bari and Croatia. The show that was GREAT was the two male Opera singers ...other shows were not entertaining at all. Hope hat this complaint gets to management and an apology is required for the dissatisfaction with so many things. Read Less

I cant be more unpleasant with this Cruise. The service in the Bars, Restaurant, Lobby and all in General was the WORST Service Ever. All the personal in the Ship was really Rude. I don´t recommend Costa Deliziosa to any body. Read Less

I rarely write a review but felt the need to write this one. We bruise regularly but this is the first time to cruise Costa. Correspondence from Costa - very poor Embarkment procedure - chaos Time at ports - way to short (approx 5 hours) Tender - what a joke of a system. We waited an hour and 20 mi Utes to get on a tender to take a Costa excursion. We thought getting their excursion would get us off more quickly...nope! Beverage package - all members In The cabin have to take the same package! Entertainment shows- poorest I've seen on a ship Activities- very poor Food - average at best Positives Cleanliness - good Music - the Excite room had excellent music Wait staff at dining room - very good Highly disappointed with this cruise. Will be booking more on other lines. I should have trusted the review on Cruisecritic! Read Less

This cruise was spotted by my other half and was arranged by an agent who did a superb job and as the holiday included 2 days in Venice before sailing they arranged a great hotel (Hilton Garden, Mestre) and unbelievably good transfers from airport to hotel, hotel to port and port to airport (Acampora Venice, super cars, absolutely top service) and the Easy Jet flights were exactly that. Cruise Day 1. We are dropped off at Venice Cruise Terminal - chaos! Poor communications compounded by the fact that the ship was at Trieste due to fog! Eventually everyone gets onto coaches for the 2 hour journey. The weather is not Costa's fault! Eventually we get onto the ship and Costa Deliziosa is a great ship, very clean, better cabin than expected. Prior to departure we were told by our cabin boy not to go to dinner (we were first sitting) because of the lifeboat drill. Okay so we assume that on Day one the ship won't enforce the 2 sitting policy. Wrong, the did and we had to have dinner in the buffet. In reality, we would have had time to dine at the first sitting and do the lifeboat drill so bad info from cabin boy on Day 1. Breakfast was fine except that a cup of tea is a teapot of almost hot water and a selection of tea bags. It took forever to get milk. The advice here is to get a fruit juice glass of milk from the cereal bar! Second problem - toast - grief it looks like its seen a light bulb! I think this could be an Italian thing because toast at the hotel before sailing was very pale after one pass through the conveyor belt toaster but the second pass produced a good result! I think I got toast of a sort on 2 occasions despite requesting it 3 times - but life is too short!! We did one excursion - to Santorini. Good tour guide - Mama Joy ! All other shore visits (Bari, Athens, Corfu, Dubrovnik) were DIY using shoreside providers - cheap, cheerful and generally good value. The usual cruise story to be fair. Despite having a lovely cabin there were 2 problems. The interactive TV wasn't interactive and took 2 days to sort out and we were able to watch one film- but we would probably have watched 3 if the thing had worked soon enough. Not easy to get it sorted - more advice - after the technician has finished, just satisfy yourself that it actually works. We checked, it didn't but he was still there so we eventually got out sorted!! Second problem - noisy neighbours. We should have complained and got moved. We didn't so we can't blame Costa but I wonder iff its a National thing for the majority of the passengers to be noisy and, in some cases, downright rude? The food was okay although we were speaking to a French passenger who was a professional waiter in some excellent restaurants in Paris and his comments are unprintable but shall we say he was less than impressed. Being aimed mainly at the Italian market I think that you have to accept that there is national bias and that effects all non-Italian passengers, certainly when it comes to Tannoy announcements. The itinerary was very good and we had some really good service - a chap called Yash Shetty, who is one of the Deck 9 barmen, is unbelievably good and our evening restaurant waiter was also superb but I really think that Costa's problem is inconsistent staff quality and poor communication. Our cruise was due to end at Venice but, blow me, fog again so another trip to Trieste and a 2 hour transfer by coach, again with noisy 'locals' !! The holiday was not expensive and I'm glad we've tried Costa but I'm dubious about using them in the future I'm afraid. Everything non-Costa was superb though!! Read Less

Food and service was so bad that you cannot imagine. We have to payed like 75€ extra to get a normal pizza for 5 last days to We lost 12 Hours for Nothing for the embarcation and dis embarcation cause Costa decided to change our port's departure. And we get no apolologize from the team. Some stop was not interesting, as Barry, it looks like mafia Town. The worst experience that we never had on a ship. Finally if you are not italien, you should better find another Cruise The room were clean and the ship not so bad but it was not enough to make us Happy. Most of the Time the prize are so creazy as the different beverage package, we payed for 80€ for twenty non alcolic drinks. Most of the passenger complain for this Cruise that is why we decided to wrote this message. Thanks to read this message, and never travel with Costa, you are going to payed for the concordia. NEVER AGAIN. We paid more for a suite on this ship than the two level suite on Oasis. This suite pales in comparison- as a matter of fact it is the size of- and actually is-a handicap balcony- not suite. The suite amenities include a "mini bar of your choice". No- it is a mini bar of their choice- OK- but an Italian cruise line sailing in Italy has no red or white wine in the mini bar- None! The Balcony was the worst part- This suite should be discounted and sold with a disclaimer- NOT PRIVATE BALCONY. We even had to keep the drapes closed as the neighbors could see in our suite. We complained and they did nothing. A manager called and asked to meet with me- she did nothing. As a suite guest you also get your meals in the Club on the top deck. Service there varied from painfully slow to perfect. Food- entertainment and all facilities were average. Nothing spectacular. Read Less

I would never , ever go on a Costa cruise again. The food was not up to par and everything was a purchase package. There was even a package for coffee. We were a total of 6 adults and 4 of the 6 were not drinkers . After being told during embarkation ( which was a nightmare ) and at the front desk that we could purchase 2 alcohol packages and 4 regular soda/ water packages , when we attempted to purchase them we were told we were not able to do so because we all have the same booking number !! Stephanie attempted to help but called the next day to tell me that the bar manager said he will not override the system. I have never been on a holiday where we were simply refused something that was not impossible, The cabins were creaky, one night during a thunderstorm our room flooded. As for the ports you can skip Bari, but Corfu, Mykonos, Santorini, Dubrovinik and Venice were spectacular ,also you do not get a lot of time on each port. The best thing about the cruise was the service from the wait staff during dinner at the albatross and housekeeping, Ironically since we have been back from the cruise EVERY single person have spoke to , about 4 couples have said they would not go with costa again , I only wish we had spoken to them before,...
