"Embarkation\Disembarkation - Both quick and no trouble
Value for money
Good selection of drinks even when on basic drinks package
Bad points:
Breakfast buffet - They have removed self service which is good from a hygeine point of view but there's just so many people all in 1 space.Add to that rude people who push in and fill their plates so high there's no chance it will all get ate, it's not a good experience to start the day...."Read More

1-10 of 32 Mediterranean Costa Smeralda Mediterranean Cruise Reviews
We wanted to visit Palermo, as my mom’s grandmother taught school there prior to coming to the US. This cruise was perfect for us and took us to so many beautiful ports; it was also refreshing to not have a cruise director/party central interrupting every hour or two. We enjoyed most meals, we had no problems with seating in the breakfast and afternoon tea buffets on deck 5 and 6 dining rooms ...
Completed a transatlantic from US to,Barcelona. The Costa Smeralda did a Mediterranean cruise 2 days after our transatlantic and went to ports we wished to see, such as Sicily, Rome…
Upon boarding, we were advised we needed to download the Costa App in order to get the daily news, events, times & menus. U.S Americans could not download the app (due to incompatibility between Costa & ...
I readed a lots of bad reviews about Costa Smeralda. Most of them are from Covid time, so I don't know if it was due to restrictions or Costa Smeralda improved the services but I have only good experiences with travelling on Costa Smeralda. The ship is nice, very clean, food was really good and the stuff was very nice and friendly. I Was afraid at first that so big ship will be overcrowded but it ...
Costa was chosen due to ports of calls, and past experience on Costa many years ago. From day 1 cruise was a disappointment. Four of us seated at 2 different tables. Waiter could care less about my wife and I at our own table. Food when it did arrive was coolish at best. It got worse everyday. This was not a cruise but a ferry ride as passengers embarked and disembark at every port. Talking to ...
I've sailed NCL, Princess and MSC.
Like MSC, I didn't go with high expectations based on reviews. The trick is to go with low expectations and then you won't be disappointed!
The truth is you can't pay Costa money and expect NCL quality. Value for money wise - I thought it was very good.
Good points:
Ship facilities (relatively new ship, clean throughout, nothing looked ...
We booked this cruise in 2019 to sail in June of 2020, and we all know how that story ends. When the world shut down, we opted to take the voucher offered by Costa which offered us the ability to rebook a cruise with a suite #15010 (vs a terrace cabin which we originally booked) and have the highest-level drink package which covered all the soft drinks and alcohol we needed. The Suite guests have ...
During our cruise we learned to our great dismay that we were not allowed to disembark without booking an excursion. The reason was because of the corona, the company said. This is a fallacy, because 1 the stops were colored green (at that time) ,2 an unvaccinated person can come on board perfectly (after a covid test) because vaccinations are not asked. A covid test that lasts 15 minutes cannot ...
This was our 21st cruise. We have sailed on Costa before as well as the other "main-stream" lines, e.g. RCCL, Celebrity, Norwegian, HA, MSC etc. This cruise was a last-minute replacement for a cancelled MSC cruise. Essentially, we paid less than 50% for the "same" cruise on Smeralda.
We had read the numerous reviews on here and we were not unduly concerned since our own experiences have never ...
We chose this cruise because Cunard cancelled their Barcelona - Singapore cruise and then MSC changed its itinerary to skip BCN after we booked. Costa was the only choice.
We are not anti-Costa as all of our 12+ cruises have been with the Carnival family of cruise lines including a previous Costa cruise. BUT the reception people were arrogant and the service in the dining room was terrible (but ...
Ended up on the Costa Smerelda as our MSC cruise was cancelled due to only allowing schengen passengers.
Food - bland and basic - there is no pizza on the buffet of an Italian cruise ship and if you want pizza then you have to pay more than you would pay in central Rome for a pizza. Otherwise food in restaurants is bland, meat is cheap and poor quality and selection is very poor compared to ...
