Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Marella Explorer

Passing our local TUI travel agency we noticed a "Manager's special" for this cruise and enquired within. The dates coincided perfectly with the half term school holiday, an inset day, and our daughter's leave week. In addition the second day of the cruise was our granddaughter's birthday and this would be her first flight on an airplane though not her first cruise. The price offered made it a no ...

Good cruise but room for improvement

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Marella Explorer

This was an enjoyable cruise and excellent itinerary but one or two things stop me from giving it a five * rating. The Good: 1. Food was generally of a very high standard (with one exception detailed below) 2. Staff are as friendly and jovial as ever 3. Cabin was comfortable, if a little rough around the edges. 4. All ports of call were enjoyable: Koper, Trieste, Dubrovnik and ...

We booked this cruise and didn't expect a great deal from it, oh, were we surprised!! Ok, the ship is small and older than some of the cruise ships out there, but it doesn't lack anything in our opinion. The crew were simply amazing. The Marketplace was very good, but we are not.picky eaters. Just a mention for a lady in the Marketplace called Aka, one of the crew. She is a credit to Marella and ...

Adriatic cruise with Marella

I have just returned from a cruise round the Adriatic with my daughter and her husband. Normally for this I would book a double room with balcony and a cabin for them with balcony for single occupancy for myself. On this occasion booking with Marella/TUI they would not accept single bookings (for obvious reasons). I found however that by booking through another agent (Iglu) I could have the ...

Sailed on the Explorer 2 in May this year, and despite this being an older ship we preferred it in all respects except for the cabin. The weather was fantastic all week, and we opted to do our own excursions courtesy of research on cruise critic reviews. We travelled as a couple in an iinside cabin on deck 3. The ship's public areas are well maintained, and whereas the Explorer is more of ...

Itinerary great but just a few issues

We are four friends and chose this cruise because of the. There is no disputing that this is a nice ship however there is also no hiding the fact that it is 25 years old. The refurbish has been tastefully done however there are just a couple of niggles. We both had balcony cabins and it is quite obvious that the glass panels at one point had all the edges were protected with some kind of bezel and ...

The good, the bad and the ugly... This was our 3rd cruise with Marella. I almost cancelled going on the Dream due to the reviews I read, but had a great time. We were on the maiden voyage of the Explorer last year and there were the inevitable teething problems but the junior suite with large balcony was worth the money despite the terrible service and food. This time we opted for the family ...

Been on Discovery 2 before, nice ship, food ok, staff lovely always smiling, especially Philip he is a credit to Marcella. Ports of call very good, weather in Europe not so good, we were in a force 12 gale one day, but we survived it. Entertainment from Headliners excellent, didn't see comidiens so can't comment. 4 Tunes very good but did not like Jon Asher. Pleased Captain didn't say it's going ...

We were on the same cruise but in reverse back in April this year.. weather for first week from Corfu through the med to Canary Islands was terrible but staff managed to keep everyone amused and jolly.. A lot of staff have been moved to other ships which was a negative as a lot of staff in live lounge and atrium had none of the zip and bounce that the originals had except two..There was Shevroy an ...
