This was our first cruise to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and my 50th birthday. liked the look of the itinerary and the dates were perfect. booked an outside plus cabin as I had read standard cabins were a bit cramped ,wasn't disappointed we had 478, couldn't fault it at all, and tess and julius worked so hard to keep it spotless for the whole trip and amazed us each night with a different towel animal left on your bed. food was excellent in seven seas and four seasons, we never had a bad meal, and the French bistro was out of this world and well worth the extra cover charge. I wasn't that keen on the buffet restaurants on deck 10 as they felt a bit like a canteen but were ok for lunch as close to the sun beds when chilling. Entertainment was the best we've ever had on a holiday and was a joy to watch, looked forward to it ever night. The whole crew were great and couldn't do enough for you and we made some excellent friends whilst on board , everyone was so friendly its like one big happy family. we didn't bother with the drinks package as not big drinkers and prices were reasonable on board anyway, same as pub prices back home. we made the most of day trips when in port and did four organised excursions which can be a bit expensive and tiring , so did our own thing at other stops, and there was so much to do whilst on board you struggled to fit it all in. would we go again.............. definitely yes already looking to book the next one. We sailed on Majesty for its repositioning cruise from Corfu to Canaries. Flight was good ( plane was changed, so lucky enough to have seat back TV) and thankfully fairly uneventful. Transfer to the ship was quick and so was boarding. On receiving our on board card, I was shocked that Thomson put both your name and cabin number on. I haven't come across that before, and I have always felt that if you dropped/lost your card nobody could use it, but having my information on there, it means someone could potentially access our cabin or order goods etc. Cabin was small, but only as expected. I had heard reports of poor quality towels and bedlinen and unfortunately can confirm it to be true. One sheet had a hole in, and although not in a position to be a problem, it shouldn't be the case. The staff are the redeeming feature of the ship, everyone seems to put in a great effort. The entertainment crew put on more shows than any others I have come across and they were very talented, but (and its a criticism of Thomson not the crew) having 9 days of shows that were all singing and dancing got a bit too much for us. We like a bit of variety and would have thought the theatre could have been used for lots of other types of entertainment. The singer who used to be in The Drifters was very good though. Food- this is one area both of us felt let down on. whoever is in charge of menu's shouldn't be in the job. Breakast, thankfully was good, but all other mealtimes, we felt the quality of meat cuts were very poor, as was the menu itself. And layout up on deck 10 seemed strange too. One of the buffet restaurants was closed in the evening, BUT attached to this closed buffet was the wok station for fried rice/noodle dishes, so if that meal took your fancy you then had to walk along the deck to the other buffet restaurant to eat your meal, not much fun in the cold/ rain! We enjoyed the itinery, which was why we booked, but if food is always like this on Thomson then maybe not for us. I don't like to give a bad review and like to be fair and not compare to other cruiselines and usually we have found we like /dislike small things from different cruiselines, but this is the first time we have ended a cruise thinking we probably wouldn't be back. This was the repositioning cruise from Corfu ending in Tenerife. We have been on quite a number of cruises with Thomson and have always really enjoyed them. The vast majority of passengers are British, which we like - same language same sense of humour etc. The staff are absolutely brilliant and nothing it too much trouble. We had an inside cabin, we already knew that the cabins are very small on the Majesty but to be honest we only shower and sleep there so not really an issue. The ports we visited were all brilliant and we made some great friends who enjoyed them all with us. We always enjoy the food, can't really believe anyone could complain and the all-inclusive drinks package for us is a bargain. We do not tend to go to shows and other entertainment preferring to sit at a bar and enjoy chatting to others. The Thomson cruises are excellent value for money and we are booked on the Dream on the 5th April for the Mayan Treasures and Atlantic Adventure - 25 nights. If I was going to say something it is that Thomson do not recognise their loyal customers, we had a cheap bottle of wine in our room last time. Read Less
