We chose this particular cruise, as it was a full Panama Canal Transit. This had been on my husband's Bucket List for many years now and when he retired and we had unlimited "vacation time", I booked it immediately
The Coral Princess is a pretty ship, smaller in size and has everything one needs. I will admit it is looking a bit worn, but kept immaculately clean. The public areas were ...
My husband had always wanted to see the workings of the Panama Canal! It was an item on his bucket list. The Coral Princess is a lovely ship - we loved the formal dining and met some great new people onboard. We did the full passage of the Panama Canal on an excursion on a smaller ship. We were able to see the workings of the canal and learn more about the history and function. If you are ...
We chose this cruise because we live in the San Francisco North Bay area and wanted to sail from San Francisco. The Panama Canal has been on our bucket list for sometime and this was the opportunity. The cruise was great and the staff was excellent. The entertainment was top notch and the food was very good but not outstanding. The ship is old and it showed. It was in dry dock for ...
Have cruised previously, but not as extensively as others. Have traveled on various ships but this was our first Princess. We were pleasantly surprised and totally satisfied with everything. The ship may not be the newest of the fleet but offered everything one would need. Our cabin was the best lay-out of any we have had on other ships. Bathroom, clothes closet and mirror were separated ...
We wanted to go thru the Panama Canal. The service in the Dining Rooms was always excellent. Food not so good. The meats were tough and had little flavor. The dinner menu was very lacking re choices. The shrimp cocktail was always excellent. We ate in the Bayou Steak House one night. The steaks (very Large) were excellent, as was the waiter. Princess did a very nice thing for my wife since it ...
The Coral Princess is a beautiful ship. We had a mini-suite, very nice. We had a wonderful cabin steward - Noel. The food in the dinning room was very good, desserts so yummy. The pizza was wonderful, ice cream - not so good. The Horizon buffet food was mostly good. The gym is on the small size with no stationary bikes unless you want to play a game while pedaling. We never heard any ...
CREW: Captain Rikard Lorentzen, changed to Captain Andrea Poggi in Cartagena.
CD: Miranda McLean, Naturalist Dr. Thomas Ryan, Enrichment Lecture: Mike Raick
ENTERTAINMENT: The naturalist came down with pneumonia at Cartagena and struggled though the Panama Canal lecture. He made no appearances after that– he was very good and this was a big loss. Did not go to most events because of ...
We always wanted to go through the Panama Canal, and loved most of the cruise and experience. The ship itself is old and falling apart. There were areas that had a moldy odor. There were areas where the air conditioning wasn't working. In our stateroom the thermostat didn't work, the remote for the TV didn't work, the shelf in the bathroom was broken and the carpet was dirty and worn. As in ...
As always, this Princess cruise was chock full of the senior set, which is fine - we're just coasting into qualifying for AARP ourselves, so it's not a problem - we're not party animals by any stretch.
The good:
The Coral Princess is one of their smaller ships, which meant we developed more friendships with people than on larger ships, which was nice. Likewise, we got to know more of the ...
Chose this cruise because we wanted to do a full Panama Canal transit, and chose Coral rather than Island Princess because it had had a more recent refit. However, the ship is still tired looking. The furniture in the cabins is shabby, the hairdryers are from the dark ages, the showers are the smallest I’ve ever encountered.
However we still had a great time.
Most of the staff are great, yes ...
