We spent a week sailing the Baltic Sea on a great itinerary. Check in and boarding at Copenhagen was a breeze. Having sailed Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas before, we had an idea of what to expect. This trip was on Brilliance, which is a class smaller than Navigator. The size made a difference and we felt it in the lack of good programming and entertainment options on the Brilliance. ...
The ship is medium-sized and big enough to have variety, yet small enough to be intimate. As the cruise was port-intensive, being able to easily get off the ship was a real positive. The walk from the ship to the shuttle or excursion buses was short. The entertainment was varied and enjoyable. We had good companions and good food in the main dinning room: what more could you ask for? The ...
We are back from our Norway/Transatlantic adventure on Vision and Brilliance. We had a terrific time, in spite of missing two of our four ports on Brilliance, some service issues (also on BR) and some really rocky weather along the way (both ships). What follows is a review of the Brilliance TA, starting with our day in Copenhagen pre-cruise. I'll review the Vision cruise separately. There was a ...
We booked this cruise and understood it was a northern European departure port (Copenhagen) and were happy that the cruise would have a mixture of international guests and many Europeans as well. What we were not advised at any point was that this cruise had a special focus on Spanish guests which became obvious when we saw the entertainment plan which had a large element of speciality Spanish ...
This cruise was my retirement trip. After 37 years as a police officer I felt I owed it to myself. Seeing that this cruise originatted in Copenhagen (my wife's grandmother is from there) and went to Norway (my grandparents are from there) selecting it was a no-brainer! We spent a few days in Copenhagen before the cruise. A beautiful city. I think my wife and myself were the only ones not ...
We came into Copenhagen the day before and stayed in the Hilton Hotel right at the airport. I was a little nervous if it would be loud but it was not and it was a great hotel to stay in. You don't have to walk outside just go from the gate directly to the hotel. A metro station is right at the airport and it takes you into the center of town. Taxi to the port was 270 crowns which is about 45 $ per ...
My wife and I booked this cruise which departed from Copenhagen on the 25th August 2012 because we received a Royal Caribbean flyer through the post earlier in the year.We arranged our own flights from Manchester to Copenhagen because in my opinion RCI are no good at arranging convenient flights. This is based on a previous experience we had when RCI arranged for us to spend ALL day at Fort ...
The Brilliance of the Seas surprised us as we are used to cruising on smaller ships. I found the ship to be clean in all respects and modern. The cabin was nice , much the same as we normally take. It was towards the rear of the ship on deck 8 port side and was far enough from any possible noise. It was clean and the cabin steward was very attentive. Checking in and boarding the ship was easy , ...
The Brilliance is the smallest ship we have sailed on but it had everything we expected. The cabin size is OK and the balcony too. It sometimes got a bit tight in the dining room as some tables were too close together.
This was the 3rd cruise this year with RCCL with another one coming up in November. We were a bit upset to find that the menu is the same on each ship. We would have expected ...
We went on a 12 day Baltic Capital and St. Petersburg cruise on Princess. This was our third Princess cruise. Disembarked in Copenhagen and took a taxi to the pier for a Royal Caribbean 7-day Norwegian Fjords cruise. Our first Royal Caribbean was a disappointment. Perhaps because we were so fresh off the Princess, things were vividly different.
The most important was cleanliness. 2 days into ...
