This was our first ever cruise so we didn't really know what to expect. Silverseas had been recommended and we were keen to go with a smaller ship for a shorter time so that we could get used to the cruise experience. A 7 day trip to the Norwegian fjords in a ship with 600 fellow passengers seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Well, as far as we were concerned, it could not have been better. We loved pretty much everything about it and cannot wait to do another one. We are not especially fussy about detail and obviously have nothing to compare this cruise and the ship against but we felt that the overall quality of the suite, the restaurants, the food, the service and the ship's bars, lounges and public areas was outstanding. My wife has a gluten intolerance and she was well looked after in all the restaurants at all times. The various restaurants mean that you can have a different and very high quality dining experience virtually every night. We particularly liked La Terrazza, Indochine and Silver Note (wonderful singer and pianist to accompany the excellent food). We're no wine buffs but all the wines offered were very nice and seemed to be of good quality. Our glasses were regularly refilled as each meal progressed! The Arts Cafe was excellent and a very popular spot for afternoon tea and delicious cakes. Entertainment was good and there was plenty of variety but remember it's a cruise ship not the West End of London or Broadway. It was nice to have a couple of dances in the Panorama Lounge most evenings before retiring. The vibe here was wonderfully relaxed and chilled. Fellow passengers were fine. Like us, most seemed content to keep their own company but were happy to chat when the opportunity arose. We enjoyed the onshore excursions. A bit tiring jumping on and off coaches and trains all day but a great way to see a little of Norway other than from the ship.c Having your own butler was nice but, to be honest, we didn't really bother him at all. All in all, a truly memorable experience for us. I'll leave other more seasoned travellers to point out the faults and whether or not it was value for money. WE have sailed Silversea before. We sailed the Fjords of Norway and it was a very relaxing cruise. Love the update to the Spirit. We have sailed the Muse twice and like that the Spirit now has Atlantide (seafood and steaks), Silver Note (jazz supper club), and Indochine. The food is always innovative and of high quality. We were very happy with all the service with the exception of wait too long outside for someone to take our pizza order. Also on another occasion in the Arts Cafe service was off. The other meals and venues lived up to the Silversea brand we are use to. The entertainment is only 6 singers but this group was the best so far that we have seen and it is amazing the shows they can put on with only 6. We don't need a big production when on vacation, just lovely entertainment at the end of an evening. Getting off and on the ship at ports was seamless; which is another reason we love this size of ship. We took a couple tours which were excellent and we also just walked out into the ports at some stops. Service , Service, Service. We booked another cruise while on board. Read Less

I have always heard positive reviews of Spirit from other passengers and given it's recent transformation I wanted to experience her renovation and crew. I have enjoyed the Wind twice in the past and last year I sailed on the Muse shortly after its maiden voyage. The primary driver for this trip was the itinerary. The diversity of passenger nationalities on Spirit was excellent which made for interesting conversations. There were groups of friends and multi-generational families traveling together, a few same-sex couples and several handicapped passengers. The Spirit feels very much like the Muse in decor and layout. Overall, this was a very smooth voyage both literally and in terms of service, on-board venues, food, excursions, etc. The exterior of the ship looks brand new; the deck crews on all Silversea ships does an amazing job washing and sometimes even touching up portions of the ship with new paint. As a result, Silversea ships always look crisp and clean. This is noticeable when docked next to other passenger ships. The only interior space I saw that appears original are the public restrooms on various decks. The gym and fitness areas are nicely equipped and were never crowded. The steam and dry sauna areas are co-ed and very small. Both appeared to get little use on this voyage. Silversea, to their credit, has made all of the multiple dining venues much easier to experience than on the Muse which required reservations during my sailing. Most all of the crew are smiling and friendly and I even recognized a few faces from other ships. iPads have made it easy for waiters to address passengers by name and even confirm noted food preferences even before you order. The current Voices of Silversea quartet on Spirit were good but the talent on our Muse sailing was better. I was in an 8th deck deluxe veranda cabin which is nearly identical to the Muse except the TVs are wall- mounted flat screens vs the in-mirror TVs on Muse. The butler explained that passengers complained about noise from adjacent cabins with the in-mirror style. It's a shame because the wall-mounted TV is obtrusive and clunky in an otherwise streamlined cabin. Silversea no longer provides self-serve coffee station in any of the lounges for early risers. The only way to enjoy early hour solitude with coffee is to order room service delivered to a public space. Fresh fruit is no longer stocked in each room which is a shame. We bookended our voyage with two days in Copenhagen and two days in Stockholm. Both of these cities are unique and glorious. The premium hotel choices (D'Angleterre in Copenhagen and The Grand in Stockholm) were both excellent. If you are sailing the Baltic itinerary, do not miss the arrival in Stockholm through the archipelago. We also visited Helsinki Finland and Tallin, Estonia both of which were just okay comparatively speaking. Embarkation and debarkation were smooth and well organized. Silversea does a good job getting luggage reunited with their owners. There was a PhD guest lecturer on this sailing who did an excellent job highlighting what to expect and see at each port. She was concise, knowledgeable and humorous. To sum it up, I highly recommend this itinerary and the Silver Spirit ship. Read Less

Years ago when I was a university faculty member, I had a reputation as a tough grader who didn't award many "A's." So with that in mind, here are my thoughts about what, overall, was a first-rate cruise experience. We chose Silversea for our Baltic cruise in large part because we wanted to enjoy a true "first-boat" experience. Which is what we enjoyed during our days onboard along with another couple who have been friends for over 50 years. Our trip began with a long, but unavoidable, business class flight on SAS to Copenhagen, which Silversea arranged at a price well below the standard prevailing rate. Prior to embarkation, we enjoyed two full days in very sunny Copenhagen, burning "points" at the Marriott, walking extensively and doing a very "touristy" but delightful canal boat ride. The Glyptotech museum's collection of impressionist painters was especially impressive. Check-in at boarding time couldn't have been run any better. We were whisked to our cabin in a blink without ever having to endure the long lines that are so common with cruises on mega-ships. And miracle of miracles, Silversea provided two luggage racks, an amenity that even many top-flight hotels fail to provide. Our butler from Nepal provided a thorough and efficient introduction to shipboard services and we headed quickly to the LaTerraza restaurant for our first taste of Silversea's fine and diverse dining experiences. During our stay on board, we ate at LaTarraza, Atlantide, Silver Note, The Grille, the Arts Cafe, and the pizza shop, the name of which escapes me. We especially enjoyed the first-two, always receiving both top-notch food and attentive service. I especially enjoyed the soups that were included on the multi-course menus. Unfortunately, we had scheduled our visit to The Grille on an evening that was cloudy and cold, but the overhead heaters and blankets kept us very snug. The white and red white wines that were offered during dinner were quite adequate, but it was a bit disappointing that the offerings changed little from night-to-night. As a beer drinker, I was disappointed that Silversea's offerings failed to include even a single IPA. As "morning people," my wife and I especially appreciated the ship's breakfast offerings. It is difficult to imagine that someone would be unable to find something at breakfast that failed to whet their appetite. For me, it was the mounds of smoked salmon, and the always hot, buttery, scrambled eggs. The Silver Spirit's lounges provided comfortable settings for a before-or-after dinner libation. The piano music in the main lounge could not have been better, both in terms of tunes selected and volume. The vista and intimacy provided by Tor's high and at the front of the ship were perfect. From beginning-to-end of the cruise, however, the main lounge was in serious need of another bartender. While the "mixologist" worked at a rapid pace, she plainly was overwhelmed. As a result, table service was unacceptably slow. The only downside in the ship's food service occurred in the Silver Note. Food quality was very high, but the portions were unreasonably small as if they had designed for a tasting menu than the regular course menu we were provided. Our cabin plainly met our expectations. We especially liked the fact that it included a walk-in shower and not the ungainly tub-shower combination that seems to be the order of the day in so many European hotels. Silversea should offer better pre-cruise information about bed size. At the time we made our reservations, we were left with the impression that the room's two-person bed option was the width of an old-fashioned "double" bed. We discovered once onboard, however, that this option was, in fact, pretty much the size of an American "queen" bed, which we would have very much preferred instead of the twin beds we selected. One of the greatest problems with the twins is the placement of overhead lighting on the bed closest to the bathroom wall -- it can give you a good whack in the head if you're not careful. Our excursions overall fully met our expectations. We especially appreciated the fact that our ship was able to dock so close to the center of St. Petersburg -- something that allowed us to avoid the one-hour bus ride to town that comes with the large cruise ships that must dock so far away. Our guides all were well-informed, and all were readily understandable. Indeed all but one was engaging and truly enjoyable. The extra-cost side trip to Moscow was worth every penny and a real trip highlight. We would recommend it to anyone who can deal with arising at 4:30A and not hitting a bed until almost 1A. My wife and I, however, would like to offer a few suggestions for making the shore excursions even more enjoyable. First, in St. Petersburg, structure the tours to places like Catherine's Palace and the Hermitage so that there is less emphasis on "seeing everything," and greater emphasis on leisurely, selective viewing. Second, we both were struck by the absence of any tour offering that focused on the Russians' efforts to save St. Petersburg from the Nazis and the terrible conditions that so many city residents endured during the Second World War. Similarly, it would have been interesting to have some exposure to the city's booming neighborhoods of post-Glasnost Russia. The weakest of our tours occurred in Helsinki. While we were under the impression that we would have a good opportunity to experience the city on shanks mere, we spent an undue amount of time in an undistinguished building listing to performances of Sibelius' music, something we could have done just as easily at home. Additionally, it became immediately evident that we could have seen a great deal of the city by exploiting Helsinki's trams. This proved impossible, however, even during our free time as it is impossible to purchase tickets on the trams or without Finnish currency. Perhaps Silversea could consider pre-purchasing tram tickets for those interested in exploring on their own. Our guide and our experience in Tallinn were most enjoyable. Indeed, we both wish we had had substantially more time to explore the city, especially the newer sections that have been developed in recent years. While on-board, we took advantage of the ship's evening entertainment only twice, once when we were dead-tired and really have headed to bed. We all thought the farewell performance was most enjoyable, with the 60's-70's pop music well-suited to the age of most in the audience. Overall, the debarkation process was handled as smoothly as the boarding process, very professional and well-thought-through. We had decided, however, to stay in Stockholm for two days after the cruise, and received absolutely incorrect and unduly costly advice as to how to reach our hotel. We were advised that it would be difficult to secure a cab, as almost all accepted only Swedish currency; that we would do best to permit Silversea to arrange a private car for a charge in excess of $150. Nonsense! As we discovered subsequently, it is rare cab in Stockholm that doesn't accept credit cards. Indeed, the 10 minute ride to our fine At Six Hotel should have cost us well under $20. Having been on 2 Chrystal Cruises we had high expectations. We paid a lot and we’re Bored! Our cruise was 12 days, England to Copenhagen. Weather mostly in the 60’s. Ship was beautiful and kept very clean. Night entertainment was minimal and except for 2 nights... the rest were subpar. As for on board activities... when you have 2 days in a row at sea we expect more than one lecturer, and all 3 of his lectures were on International Politics. Other than that, I don’t consider napkin folding and bingo activities. There’s a tiny casino too. As for dining options, they were okay. But we expect more than that. Twice I sent my food back, once for undercooked chicken, one for burnt salmon. Totally unacceptable. The service was good. As for the excursions, most were very disappointing At the end, the transferred 200 passengers by buses to the Marriott Copenhagen. We could barely get in the lobby and then we waited on line for almost an hour. Read Less

I travel the world, but am new to luxury cruise market. We chose Marina based on itinerary, the size and the food. We didn't want too big, but not too small. It fit the bill. This was a rare cruise that stays in St. Petersburg for 3 days. We were fairly satisfied with the cruise, but there were elements that prevent me from calling it 5 star. Therefore, I doubt that I will cruise Oceania again if there are better choices around. Pros: - 2 weeks before embarkation, Oceania offered $500 per person upgrade to Suites, and we took it. Cabin was spacious, and well decorated. Walk-in closet was to die for. Bathroom was huge, with the bathtub, but shower was relatively cramped. - Overall, the staff were amazing. Especially room steward and dining room staff. - We ate at all specialty restaurants. Toscana was best, Jacque was decent, Polo Grill was so so. A lot of people like Red Ginger, but I have very high standard for Asian food. - Afternoon tea. Lovely tradition. We participated almost everyday. Cons: - I didn't like the fact that they charge $600 extra per person for liquor package, calling themselves as luxury cruise. Beverage service was horrible. Whenever you are seated in a restaurant, you need to be taken drink order first. We always had to flag down so-called sommeliers (later we learned that they become sommeliers after 1 week of training), well after dinner order was taken. When we finally flag down sommeliers, they usually start recommending bottles of wines; as soon as they hear that we have liquor package, their service gets rushed. This was probably the most unpleasant experience in this cruise. - One thing I cannot understand was, compared to all the staff who work so hard to satisfy customers, the officers, managers, and captains are so disinterested in customer service. We only saw captain having dinner with his own family. I called dining manager and general manager one day to complain about something; nothing substantial got done. - Entertainment was truly sub par. - Shore excursions were extremely expensive. I went with my own arrangement with TJ Travel and SPB Tours, and I was very satisfied. Oceania charges premium price and the experience was not quite premium. They really don't care about post cruise survey either. I don't think their quality will improve. They certainly will not retain us as repeat customers. Read Less

I have had communication with three different SilverSea travel advisors —all of whom promised to follow up and refund a portion of our costs to compensate for a terrible cruise experience. None of them did so I am taking this to the public forum in the hopes it dissuades others from booking on a cruise line that doesn’t give a fig about its clientele. This was our 2nd and last time on SilverSea. Our ship, the Silver Spirit, had a serious mechanical defect that made our trip uncomfortable and delayed us from our itinerary. The captain was forced to slow down the ship to prevent added discomfort. This meant we were not able to complete the itinerary as advertised. The captain felt the safety issue was serious enough to overnight in a port and request divers to fly in and inspect the engines and the hull. This is hardly a relaxing way to spend a vacation. We were not the only guests expressing concern and dissatisfaction. Above and beyond the seriousness of the ship's seaworthiness and related discomfort, there were a number of other logistical mishaps. 1) We were not on the Silversea airport transport manifest in Copenhagen when our flight arrived with two other couples who were part of the Iceland land excursion. This led to a delay in getting from the airport to the ship; it was not only embarrassing but stress-inducing as we had to convince the bus staff that we were indeed paid Silversea customers. 2) Upon arriving at the ship, our cards were not correctly coded and we were unable to get into our stateroom. 3) Once in our state room, we discovered our room had erroneously been set up for a child passenger -- complete with a safety robe wrapped all around our cabin's outside terrace -- unsightly and resulting in additional crew confusion and more delays getting our room ready for our vacation. 4) On one of the ports of call, there was another issue with our cards -- the captain and crew were convinced we were not on the ship even though we'd been 'swiped' back in an hour before the ship was due to leave port. It led to urgent calls to our state room and unnecessary agitation. 5) Our flight home was made very uncomfortable due to being seated five rows apart on the London to LA leg (11 hours) This despite my calling several times ahead of departure about seat assignments -- specifically getting two seats together and this -- much to our displeasure -- was not done. I was assigned to the middle section with a seat facing directly into another family's sleeping area rather than being seated by my husband who was five rows up facing another stranger. We paid extra to have a business class upgrade and Silversea completely dropped the ball. In short, we paid for a luxury cruise with anticipated smooth well-organized logistics on what we expected to be a newly refurbished and smooth-riding ship. What we got was unnecessary logistical headaches, missed ports of calls due to mechanical difficulties exacerbating our transit on rough seas. Read Less

This was our first time sailing Princess and we were excited to try their Club Class Mini-Suites. We have tried similar products on other cruiser lines so it was up to scrutiny to see how it faired I’m comparison. Embarkation was very smooth (the smoothest we have experienced) and there was no delay in getting to our cabin. The cabin was large and with plenty of storage options. The ship is beautifully decorated. There are several dinning options and plenty of bars. I feel that the public areas on this ship are better than others O have experienced. Dinning was an issue for us. The Club Class dining was sold differently on the website than what was experienced. Although we enjoyed never waiting for a table, we were disappointed how the Club Class restaurant is still part of the main dinning room and we found the food quality was lacking as was the choice of wine by the glass. Entertainment on board was also an issue for us. We found ourselves not attending much as the acts were all very average. The ports on this cruise were fantastic. Cruising is definitely the best way to see this part of the world. Sailing out of Stockholm was a huge highlight. Disembarkation was also very smooth and well received. Would We sail with Princess again? Definitely, however it will never be our first choice just due to the lack of wow moments in food, wine and entertainment, however now that we know what to expect I’m sure we will be less disappointed next time. This review is for the Marina Baltic “Viking Homelands” trip commencing in Copenhagen on September 12 and ending in Amsterdam September 24, 2017. We were first time Oceania customers. Previously on RCL, Cunard and Celebrity from 1992 to 2015. Overall, 9/10 for our first Oceania experience; we are very pleased. We were in a regular veranda # 8075. We will book again with Oceania when circumstances permit; what Oceania offered met our requirements and our expectations with a few exceptions noted below. We chose Oceania this time because this itinerary had different ports for departure and arrival and the best selection of destinations for a Baltic cruise we have ever seen; including Oslo and smaller ports like Tallinn and Visby. This selection of ports and trip itinerary is not provided on the mass cruise lines. We did not use Oceania excursions - we used TJ travel for St. Petersbury and Berlin. TJ travel was excellent and would use them again. Trust this review will be of interest/assistance to those on the Oceania board as well as other Cruise Critic members. SUMMARY Our review is based on Oceania marketing materials – their statement of their product. The review is based on what we experienced versus what Oceania stated they would provide, the “O” Life Difference. Your assessment may be different. Please know, we are very skeptical consumers – We believe nothing in writing and wait to see what actually happens. We are not loyal to any service provider and monitor exactly what product is received from cruise lines, restaurants, hotels etc. We are “value for money” consumers – price is only one analysis component. “The Finest Cuisine At Sea” – Hard to evaluate unless you have cruised a lot on most of the lines. Will say most of the food was very good; high quality, large and varied selection in the theme restaurants, well prepared, good presentation. As expected of a premium line, in Tallinn, the chef was able to get fresh sea bream and it was served in Toscana. Super excellent. The breads and sweets were of the highest quality – especially the pain au chocolate which was real French pastry not bread dough like on the mass lines. The example of the food that typified the quote above was the dessert lollipop – a small cone wrapped in gold foil. It had a sugar cone and inside was a fresh strawberry, raspberry etc. with chocolate ganache on top and icing. This was available most lunches and dinners in the Terrace buffet; do not see that on a mass line. Little things matter. One of the things that drove us away from Celebrity was they started to put a fake coffee creamer on the breakfast tray (vile to say the least). The breakfast tray on Oceania was exceptional – it was over the top. Real cream in a stainless steel container. WOW. Could not be more pleased. Please see below under negatives regarding food. “A Variety Of Distinctive Open-Seating Restaurants, all at no additional charge” – That statement is somewhat misleading. All cruise ships have a minimum of one (1) open seating, included in the fare, the pool deck food venue. What was different from the mass cruise lines was the open-seating Grand Dining Room with no charge. This venue was excellent from size, location, tables, service, fit and finish. “Gourmet cruise created by world-renowned Master Chef Jacques Pepin” – His “every day favorites” in the Grand Dining Room were not so special frankly. The plated products we were served were mass cruise line quality. A piece of naked salmon and green beans supplemented with your choice of sides in separate dishes. His food in Jacques was a slightly better quality than we have had on Celebrity. You need to try harder Oceania in this regard. “Epicurean enrichment programs” – Yes, very well patronized on sea days. Seemed high end with very engaged chefs and enthused guests. “Award winning itineraries” – Tried to find out who gave Oceania an award – nothing. Will say their itineraries are well beyond the mass lines – Oceania does not repeat an itinerary, and they usually leave and arrive at different ports. You definitely get more value on Oceania voyages versus the mass cruise lines when you factor in the effort and cost to fly these days. The “Viking Homelands” itinerary was the best of the Baltic season across all cruise lines. “Intimate, luxurious ships catering to just 684 to 1,250 guests” – This is a big difference versus mass cruise lines. A huge advantage and worth paying for. “Exceptional personalize service” – received all that. We were in a regular veranda stateroom. Our dear stewardess put a white towel down by either side of our bed every night. Our slippers were put there. When you undress at night, you are on this special towel, not the carpet. It was worth so much to have this – the little things make a huge difference. “Country club casual ambiance” – Delivered. I would say that with a few exceptions, guests dressed country club style, with significant high end golf wear. “Acclaimed Canyon Ranch Spa Club”- Did not patronize Regarding entertainment, was good quality and appropriate for the target market. Good singing ability and costumes. Entertainment aimed at target market; baby boomers. No lavish vegas style productions. The port lecturer was from a California university - fact based and dry but ok. This is an adult cruise line, there were no children present nor are there any services available to support same. NEGATIVES As is typical of life, there is usually a few items that are at variance with expectations/advertisement. Room noise. Two sources of noise. Given the cruise line, we had expectations of acoustical quiet with the exception of the inevitable door slamming. Not provided on Marina. First, there was constant “banging” from the staterooms on either side. Why? Because the drawer/closet drawer closers were so strong they pulled the drawers/closets back into place with a huge “bang”. Repeatedly over and over at all times of the day and night depending upon the schedule of our neighbours. We were awoken every morning early with “bangs” beside our head while lying in bed. We made sure to manually close all our drawers so there was no “banging” from our stateroom. We have to say that it was most disturbing because it was random and loud. This is obviously a systemic design flaw in the ship creating noise – because never had this before on any other ship. Second, the acoustical application in walls/ceilings seemed poor because we constantly heard foot falls above us and TV sounds from both sides – again, never experienced this on other ships. To summarize, we were not pleased with the stateroom acoustical privacy and it is a show stopper for us regarding another booking on Marina. We assume that other guests have heard this so really do not know if this is an issue for other guests. Concierge. Guest Relations recommended we speak with Concierge regarding the noise issue. We submitted a form. Received a call and had a short discussion. We were dismissed by both the employee and the supervisor. No interest or empathy happening with this business unit. Terrace Café – Given this is a premium cruise line and the stated “finest cuisine at sea”, we were disappointed at the limited range of food in this venue. Half the café had the same food so there was much less choice than you would think. Things like only a single style of pasta offered (not a pasta bar with multiple inputs), no “ethnic” food bar rather some nights had a theme menu given the day’s port etc. There were more limitations on choice than we thought. Grand Dining Room – As mentioned earlier, the Jacques selections were not impressive and not in compliance with “finest cuisine at sea”. Further, some entrees like sea bass pasta and fried avocado were awful and cheap and should never have been presented on Oceania. Other entrees were acceptable but to be frank – not generally any better than the entrees on our last Celebrity cruise in the MDR. So Oceania, the Grand Dining Room menu was not totally in compliance with “the finest cuisine at sea”. HIGHLIGHTS Small Vessels – What a total joy and privilege to be on a 66,000 ton vessel. It was manageable and simple to enter and exit. We lacked for nothing but had everything. Were able to see other guests and staff often. A total joy and we are pleased to pay for an intimate experience of a ship this size. Inclusiveness – This is big item for our household. Notwithstanding suites and their lounge; everyone on the ship mingled. Everyone ate in every food venue – there were no guests segregated in a separate dining area as is increasingly the case on the mass cruise lines. This is a reason we moved from Celebrity to Oceania. We enjoy meeting everyone on the ship over drinks and dinners. If Oceania changes this, we will remove our patronage. Many guests we spoke with felt the same. Guests – The class and decorum of the guests simply outstanding. A significant step up from Celebrity guests over the years. Gracious, knowledgeable, dressed well, not fixated on booze. Service – No words to describe the excellent service by the staff (except Concierge noted earlier). Every staff member we interacted with were classy, gracious, pleasant, enthused, would look you in the eye and many, many smiles. When a plate was done, it was gone between 10 to 30 seconds. Outstanding. The level of service and personalized service was simply amazing. We are more than pleased to pay for this level and quality of service. Totally spoiled now. Compliments to all those wonderful hard working staff. Themed Restaurants – Simply the best food dining arrangement we have experienced. So much better than assigned to a single dining venue and having to pay extra per the mass lines. Oceania you have a winning concept here. This will bring us back to Oceania. Had dinner at 4 different themed restaurants with outstanding food and service. Were able to book additional nights beyond our base of 4, so that was excellent and efficiently handled. The food and service was outstanding in each restaurant. Cruise Director – Nolan Dean was excellent. Professional, courteous with humour and energy. Nothing forced here, a genuine professional enjoying his job. Class from beginning to end. High Tea – Outstanding, oh my. Blows the high tea on QM2 out of the water. Total quality and care and class. Watching the chefs assemble the servers and describe each food item was outstanding. This was well attended by guests and we can see why. Room Attendant – We had a delightful room stewardess and assistant who kept our room perfect. These staff were not performing their work with the agitation and franticness that we have experienced on other cruise lines. Coffee Bar and Library – Excellent layout with the coffee bar, sandwiches and sweets section than followed by the library then followed by the card room – an excellent layout which was highly patronized. RECENT OCEANIA THREADS Bland Food - We have no previous experience with Oceania so can-not say. Will say the food tasted good overall considering most of it is probably previously frozen and produced in somewhat mass quantity. Found the food in Red Ginger (ate there twice), a bit bland. Asked for more spice and sure enough it tasted “alive”. We met numerous repeater guests and asked them this question. Most said the food was of poorer quality and taste a couple of years ago but has improved since. COMPARISON TO MASS CRUISE LINES I have been a CC member for over 15 years and have seen and experienced much related to cruising. Oceania is not suitable for every cruise guest. Oceania is not a high energy, high entertainment experience. We believe the focus is on quiet enjoyment, excellent food and service, relationship with the sea and guest interaction. Oceania does not try to keep you entertained all the time and does not encourage loud activities and behaviors. There is limited to no upselling. Oceania keeps the scale of their product at the low end with smallish ships which encourages intimacy between guests and crew and guests. It is a fairly simple on board product which is executed very well and with pride. Since 2010 or so, the mass cruise lines focus on product cheapening, booze, nickel and diming, mega ships, class favoritism, “ship in a ship”, inward ship design, minimizing itinerary in favour of on board revenue generation, shorter itineraries, gimmicks like magic carpets (celebrity) and in many cases abandoning the long-time guest in favor of the millennial. This appeals to some and repels others as to be expected. Pleased to say, Oceania appears representative of the golden age of cruising prior to 2010. Celebrity is our previous cruise provider and the Oceania product (and guests) are simply the previous Celebrity (and well beyond that) before Celebrity changed their product. On Marina, around the pool were staff offering flavored ices like I enjoyed on Solstice in 2013. The high tea was like I enjoyed on the Zenith in 1992 and Century in 1998. There were petite sandwiches in the Marina coffee bar like on Solstice in 2013. In the Marina Grand Dining Room, you were able to choose your sides just like I previously enjoyed on Celebrity. Regarding service; we have considerable empathy for the staff on the mass cruise lines given the cutbacks and increasing complexity of the ship experience. This class and that class and that class dining only for lunch but not dinner and on and on in a complex matrix of delivery requirements. Met numerous staff on Marina who were quite open about leaving Celebrity, RCL and Princess in particular because it was impossible to do a good job given the reduced staff levels combined with increasing complexity and having to deal with customers who were constantly demanding more and more and explanations on differences in class amenities. Oceania seems to have a straightforward product which makes it easier for staff to deliver and guests to understand and evaluate. We appreciate that and it must be so much better for the staff considering their circumstance. Fortunately there is considerable choice in cruise service providers, so hopefully each consumer can find a good fit. We believe that with the constant change in the industry and the cruise line chase for increased profit, it is becoming necessary to reduce brand loyalty. Hence why we moved to Oceania for now. We met some amazing people along the way and thanks to John and Paula were able to spend a lovely evening viewing their amazing Owners suite. Wow very impressive. Oceania staff are very attentive at all times. The restaurants were good although we did not think the steaks in Polo or the Terrace were perfected. Entertainment could do with a little improvement although we often didn't make it to the shows due to the wonderful company on many a mixed table which is fun. The itinerary was the reason we chose this particular cruise and we were not disappointed especially with St Petersburg. The ship shore excursions were expensive and not as good as the private tour we did Alla tours which was exceptional. Thanks John for your advice. The ship itself is well maintained and the common areas are nice. I am a blackjack player so I did enjoy the casino on this ship. Our cabin was nice we were on the concierge Veranda which gave us 4 nights in the speciality restaurants, there was a bottle of champagne waiting in our room and we could access our room earlier than others. The food was exceptional in the Speciality restaurants however we were disappointed in the Dining Room menus and the buffets. They had some featured nights of different cultures, one being Indian Food which is definitely not one of my favorites. The service was very slow in the main dining rooms, you could easily spend 2 hours just getting through dinner. We have sailed on Azamara and Seabourn and this ship definitely did not measure up to them. Read Less

Oceania is well-known as the upper premium class cruise line with excellent gourmet food. indeed, the appearance of the buffet restaurant could compete with fine dining serviced restaurants on other vessels. The food was really extremely "dangerous" with a high extra-weight-potential. You could tell just by looking at the ingedients: lemon sole, finest filet, mussels, prawns. The passenger mix was too mono-national for me. The majority US citizens, a few Aussies, very few europeans. Since I'm in my fifties I felt way too young for this kind of ship, I estimate the average age of passengers at 73+. The service was excellent, the cabin steward knew our complicated family name in a second and always addressed us by our name when we met her on the corridor. When you put down the cutlery in the buffet or serviced restaurant it took only seconds and the dish was taken away, just amazing! I liked the type of a smaller vessel a lot. Everything seemed to be so familiar, then I found out: have been sailing on Ocean Princess, one of the other Renaissance Class ships before! The interior was very classic, just like an old fashioned country style from England. We had booked a few shore excurisons for Saint Petersburg, Russia, to avoid buying this very expensive visa. All three tours were very interesting and the local tour guides were excellent, explained everything with great enthousiasm. Overall, a high class product with fantastic cuisine, very much recommended for the elderly passenger who prefers a quieter surrounding. Since Nautica carries only 680 passengers or so and 400 crew members it has also a superduper pax-crew-ratio. Finally: the smaller the vessel the more unique are the itineraries, Nautica and her sister ships go to places bigger ships have no access to. If you expect a quiet and relaxing classic cruise with excellent food, don't expect too much of entertainment and "WOW-features", then go for it! Read Less

We chose Oceania based on the ports for this cruise. We wanted to see the Baltics, and we were well rewarded! The stops included Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia; plus Helsinki, Finland; and St. Petersburg, Russia. Oceania is a classy experience, where the passengers are treated very well by the crew and the chefs especially. The best parts of the ship were the special restaurants, like Jacque's (Jacque Pepin), the interior decor (spectacular), well-designed staterooms, and the smooth organization of getting folks on and off in port. To compare to our experience earlier this year with Viking Ocean Cruises, I have to say that Viking had better food, much better pastry (you can see where my priorities are), better coffee (also important), and a better arrangement for getting a glass of wine. Oceania, overall, seemed rather costly. You get what you pay for, but some of the costs were a little much (like $28/day for internet; $10,000 for two people; just two examples). I did learn, at the end, that some of our fellow passengers lined up tours separately, with companies ashore. That seemed to work out: better treatment, tailored to their interests; more comfortable; and more for the money. I'll try that next time. Read Less

Bottom line: Incredible cruise but with a few hitches (some Regent related, most not) Boarding Explorer is always a rush for me. To my eye, it’s the most beautiful ship in the Regent fleet. I feel like the transfer and boarding was a bit rushed and just a little crowded. Nothing ‘bad’ really, just seemed a tad less luxury than it could have been. And of course, once we got our key cards we still had to wait a while for the cabins to be ready. No worries – a couple of cocktails and a light snack always fill that time for us. Once we got the all-clear, we went to our cabin and started unpacking. We were in 612 and my in-laws were in 611 (although they’re right above some lifeboat davits, could be noisy in tender ports if they use those particular boats). Great locations on these cabins, just aft of the forward elevators and an easy walk down to Reception, Destination Services, etc. Ship. I'm biased, I know. We've sailed on all four of Regent's current ships and we feel that Explorer is probably their best. The décor tends toward dark (dark woods, heavy furniture) but we like this - it's like being in a club environment. The layout is nice (with a few minor exceptions - aft staircase, access to the infinity pool, etc.) and everything is easily accessible. Cabin. We were in a D Concierge cabin. These cabins are physically the same as the E and F cabins but we chose the Concierge cabin to take advantage of the one night pre-cruise hotel. They also offer some additional amenities (binoculars, cashmere lap blankets, espresso machine, etc.) but we really didn't use those. We usually choose an F2 and those are awesome, too. The D/E/F cabins have an ocean facing bed, huge closet, double sink vanity, and a separate tub and shower with a rainfall head. Nice. Cabin service was fantastic. Dining. Subjective, I know, but I thought the service in Compass Rose was impeccable. I love the new menu and honestly, if you can’t find something you enjoy on board, I don’t think it’s the ship’s fault. Between the four of us, we couldn’t agree on a favorite specialty restaurant. We liked them all, but we all had our favorites. The only places I saw any issues with service were the Pool Bar/Grill (a continuing sore spot, I’m afraid) and to a lesser extent in La Veranda. Even when it wasn’t busy, water would go unfilled, orders would get jumbled, etc. Not often, mind you – but enough to be noticeable. Entertainment. Also subjective. I only attended a few shows, and these were good. Not great, but not terrible. They had some talented singers and dancers, and some who were, well, enthusiastic. Krew Kapers was (as always) my favorite show - front row seats so we could cheer on our favorite crew members! Excursions. Hit and miss. Mostly hits. Most were good, but frankly, sometimes it’s difficult to tell the included excursions from the Regent Choice excursions. Some we were on were great and we said ‘Wow, this is worth every penny’, only to find out it was an included tour, while others were ‘Meh, this is okay’ and then saw that we’d paid extra for it. I’d still rather see Regent limit both the number of passengers on each bus and the number of buses they send to any one location. I know that’s not really feasible with ‘included’ excursions, but sometimes it just cheapens the experience a bit. Disembarkation. Was a little bit of a mess due to a late arrival (medical evac the night before) and rainy weather on arrival. But the luggage porters were very professional and helped most everyone with their luggage with a smile. The end of a cruise is always a bit of a sad time and it can be made worse if disembarkation is a cluster, but this one went as smoothly as could be expected. The general feeling is that this was one of our best cruises ever, which is saying a lot considering how we got off to a bit of a rocky start with the missing luggage and cancelled flights (which Regent was incredible about following up on!) This review is divided into three parts: the good, the bad and the ugly. It accurately reflects my experiences prior to, during and after the cruise. Not being a knowledgeable cruiser (I had only cruised once before about 20 years ago), I relied upon both recommendations from friends and reviews in the travel press to select Regent Seven Seas for our Baltic adventure. I approached this cruise with very high expectations which were not always met. The Good: 1. Our suite, Explorer category, was large, bright, spotlessly clean, beautifully appointed and very comfortable. 2. The staff were extremely hardworking, professional and friendly. I would single out our butler, Leslie, and the Excursion Desk personnel for special praise. 3. The excursions offered were interesting and well-run. 4. The pre-cruise hotel (Marriott) in Copenhagen was well-located. Our room was large and sunny with a beautiful view. 5. Our flight from San Francisco to Copenhagen on Air France (business class) was exceptional. The Bad: 1. Electronics a. The Wi-Fi, when it was working, was both slow and failure-prone. b. The staff needed two days to fix the large television in the suite’s living room. 2. Suite a. The door between the bedroom and the living room did not close properly. It was repaired immediately, but was out of alignment within two days. b. The bedroom’s sliding glass balcony door did not seal properly. During high winds, the poor seal caused a loud howling noise. c. Upon returning to the suite one afternoon, I noticed a strong toilette odor emanating from the powder room. The smell lasted for about an hour. d. The suite’s air was very dry and irritated our sinuses. 3. Dining a. Every room service order had at least one error (e.g., items missing, items not ordered and/or delivered at the wrong time). The room service menu was also extremely limited. b. The food varied from disappointing (e.g., rock-hard French fries, over-cooked veal medallions, ruined prime rib and rubbery waffles) to disgusting (e.g., malodorous beef stroganoff and inedible swordfish). The food presentation was amateurish – picture Denny’s afloat. The wines were good, however. c. The main restaurant hours appeared set to channel passengers to the buffets rather than the ship’s more formal venues. If your excursion returned to the ship at mid-afternoon, your only option would be the Pool Grill with its unappetizing buffet, desiccated pizza and sandwiches (although the Cubano was passable). d. There was a silver lining to this culinary dark cloud – I lost three pounds on the cruise. 4. Return Flight a. Our return flight from Stockholm to San Francisco on SAS (business class – sort of) was not up to Air France’s standards for service, food and comfort. My seat was especially uncomfortable. It reminded me of the troop seats in military transport aircraft. b. Regent advertises that it’s cruises include international business class air travel. Our segment from Stockholm to Copenhagen was economy although Regent’s documents said otherwise. The Ugly: 1. Booking the trip a. My ordeal with Regent’s back office began with my initial contact. My agent stated that he had only been with the company for about a year and it showed. I inquired about a specific cruise and was told it was sold-out. He attempted to steer me toward an earlier cruise which I told him would most likely not work because of my companion’s schedule. That notwithstanding, he charged my credit card for a $6,179.70 deposit without my authorization. He then sent me an email stating that I had a one-day grace period before the deposit would become non-refundable. Because I could not reach my companion (she was travelling internationally), I called Regent, explained the situation (again) and cancelled the unauthorized reservation. I then spent nearly a week corresponding with the agent before finally receiving the refund. My frustration had reached the point where I told the agent that I would no longer deal with Regent directly, but would work through my own travel agent (which is what I should have done in the first place). b. At that point, a suite on the cruise I had originally chosen miraculously became available. I told the agent I would use my travel agent for the booking. He then asked me book the trip through him so he could “get the credit.” Once I had done that, he would transfer the booking to my travel professional. Fearing I might lose the suite, I agreed. The trip was booked and the transfer made. c. When I received the preliminary itinerary from Regent, it showed my companion returning to the U.S. ahead of me. My agent contacted Regent to correct the error and was told the extra night in Stockholm would cost approximately $1,200. Given that my companion and I were sharing a room for which I had already paid, I took issue with the proposed charge. I know Sweden is expensive, but I cannot believe an extra breakfast could cost that much. It took a day to get that issue sorted out. d. Regent sent me our airline reservations approximately one month before the departure date. Upon checking them, I discovered that we were not sitting together. Sorting out this error took another couple of days. e. Regent was also less than helpful regarding Russian visa requirements for my companion (she is a foreign national). 2. Arrival in Copenhagen a. We arrived in Copenhagen on schedule and were met by a Regent representative. The representative collected our luggage and then escorted us to our transportation to the hotel. b. We registered at the hotel and then stopped by the Regent courtesy desk to check in. Apparently, somewhere over the Atlantic, we had ceased to exist – the courtesy desk had no record of us. We were told that if we really were on the cruise we would have to arrange our own transfers from the hotel to the ship. Regent’s representative didn’t seem to believe us even after we showed them the “Final Cruise Vacation Summary” provided by the cruise line. It took until the next day to get this problem sorted out. 3. Management stupidity a. On one day, the ship scheduled crew safety training at the same time excursions were attempting to leave the ship. When we tried to exit the ship, we were blocked by crew members participating in the drill. b. We went to the Compass Rose restaurant for breakfast on our final morning. Breakfast took more than an hour (not including the time it took to be seated) because the restaurant was set for dinner and not adequately staffed. Apparently, it never occurred with the ship’s hotel management that the passengers might want to have a nice “last meal.” c. While we were waiting to disembark on the final day, the ship’s crew closed the restrooms on and adjacent to the disembarkation deck. Regent is an expensive cruise line and many, if not most, of its passengers are older. Closing those restrooms showed absolutely no regard for passenger comfort. One group of women actually rebelled and forced an attendant to open a restroom for them. NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: CRUISING IS A SERVICE BUSINESS AND YOUR PASSENGERS PAY A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY SO YOU CAN EAT. 4. Post-cruise hotel a. Regent booked us into the Haymarket by Scandic in Stockholm. The room was cramped, dark and noisy. Its bathroom was so small one could hardly turn around in it. b. We considered ordering room service, but concluded there was no place to eat it. c. We ordered take-away breakfasts for our final morning (the airport transfer left before the hotel began breakfast service), but they were never provided. Read Less

Food in Compass Rose and specialty restaurants was good but lunches in La Veranda were rather poor. It seems any time they do buffet it is not up to standard. This also applied to one dinner in La Veranda. The Ship itself is quite beautiful and well laid out. Artwork is a matter of taste and the art on this ship is cutting edge and not for everyone. Shore excursions were hit or miss depending on the guide. More than half of them did not speak good english. They did offer a good choice of shore trips, I just wish they would get better guides. The entertainment was also a step up from last year. We particularly enjoyed the comedian/magician and the dancers. All in all a good cruise, Read Less

We have been on many other cruises before like Seabourn and Regent which are also great but there was something about Silversea that gave that extra touch. The size of the ship was great as it is small, where they dock in St. Petersburg Russia doesn't get any better...right behind the Hermitage. It was like staying at a five star hotel right in the middle of St. Petersburg. I recommend you get your Visa for Russia, although it is not necessary if you go on the tours offered, but with a Visa you can go off and on as you please. Great service and amazing food. The staff really got to know you and not expecting any tips..we ended-up tipping our Butler as he was so attentive to our family needs We are going to repeat with Silversea on their new ship the in a few months and looking forward to it. We wanted to visit countries we had not been to before. We especially wanted to see Saint Petersburg and Stockholm. They did not disappoint and were fascinating. We had previously been on a Seabourn cruise and were told Silversea was comparable. I would give a slight edge to Silversea. The Silver Whisper is a little dated, but overall very comfortable and just the right size for us. The suite was excellent, and our butler, RJ, was very good. We were told the butler would offer to unpack our bags, but he never did. Overall, he was prompt, professional and very nice. The food was overall very good. Breakfast and lunch were excellent. Dinner was average to above average. We were very impressed with the ease and speed of the embarkation process and leaving the ship on the last day. The staff was engaging, courteous and very professional. The preferred docking locations, especially in Saint Petersburg, were a plus. Read Less

When we travel broad, it has to be for a least a month in order to make the cost of flying Business Class and getting over jet lag worth it. We received the Norway two weeks as our gift from Seabourn for having sailed over 250 nights with them, and thus it was logical to add on another seven days in order to do the Baltic, where I had never been. I was not at all disappointed because not only did St. Petersburg live up to all the hype and its reputation, but also Helsinki and Tallinn were great surprises. We did very few excursions organized by the ship on the Norway portion of the cruise because we were spending a lot to avail ourselves of all that Russia had to offer. We packed our three days there with excursions, morning and afternoon, and they were all worth it, with excellent guides, who not only were knowledgable but also had amazing commands of English and wonderful senses of humor. Everything I had to say about the cruise is definitely applicable to this cruise. The one thing to add was the difference in demographics. I have never been on a Seabourn cruise where the median age skewed so young. There were 20 passengers under 21 along with young and youngish marrieds and singles in their thirties, forties, and fifties. It was interesting that there was less of a sense of camaraderie than on the typical Seabourn cruise. We really socialized far less than usual. I suppose that the brevity of the cruise is one important factor in explaining the diverse clientele. We actually received a Tiffany crystal candle holder as a prize for having the most sail days, an honor that our friend Carole had garnered on the Norway section of the cruise with three times as many days as we. Obviously, the Baltic is a cruise that true cruisers do early in their careers. Customer service desk was poor and unimpressive. Lacking knowledge and unimpressive personalities. Excursions were not especially impressive either. Little knowledge of local sights. I won't go on an Azamara cruise again. I recommend going to Iceland. Rent a car and see the sights. This is an okay cruise. Nothing to write home about. food was just okay. Not great. I recommend saving more money and choosing a different cruise line. I also found the art auction offensive since it interfered with my experience. This cruise line rents out rooms and that limits your personal experience. Frankly, I will not chose Azamara again. I do like smaller ships but this was a poor experience. Too bad. Unfortunately this cruise did not meet my expectations. The food was average....no noteworthy meals. The service was good but the customer service staff and excursion staff was poor and lacking personality. Frankly, I wish I could get my money back and spend more for a better experience. 3 stars. Everything was adequate - neither more or less. For the money, I was hoping for more. I do not plan to travel on this cruise again. Azamara is not for me. Not the best experience. I met some cool people but the food kind of sucked. I really expected it to be much better. Windows buffet was awful. Salad bar was very disappointing and cheese choices was minimal. Entertainment on board was decent but activities were boring. Find another cruise. This one was lame. Never again. I could not wait to get home. Read Less

The Crystal Symphony Baltic Sea cruise on 2017 was fantastic. We loved every aspect and element. We were invited to go with the Hillsdale College group which booked about a third of the ship and that overlay of programs and people was really wonderful. We knew the Symphony was going in for major remodeling a few weeks after our cruise, but the ship was still in great shape, and the staff and service were incredible. Our only complaint was the limited wifi, but this will be rectified in the rejuvenation of the ship which will greatly boost the wifi and turn the ship into a 24/7 free wifi inclusion. We would highly recommend Crystal and this ship. The ports on the Baltic were fabulous and we loved every Crystal excursion. Cannot adequately rave about this trip. it was our first cruise and we feel like we started at the top. Tip, we dined lavishly at every opportunity, but took the stairs everywhere and walked a lot on the shore excursions, and used the workout room, and we both actually lost weight on a cruise. Oh, which reminds me, my wife and son has some food allergies and needed gluten-free meals and almond milk and such, and Crystal was very accommodating and provided the tastiest meals and treats imaginable. And their sugar-free desserts were out of this world as well. Incredible! Read Less

My wife and I did the 10 day Baltic cruise from Copenhagen to Stockholm. We are not experienced cruisers - we had only been on one short Carnival Ecstasy cruise in 2007. Regent's Explorer provides a far superior experience. Bottom line: the Explorer is beautiful and the service is top-notch. Embarkation was initially a little bumpy - we had stayed at a hotel arranged by Regent and rode the 12:10pm bus to the port to discover a really long line. The initial passport check took 40 minutes. After that, the rest of the checkin process went smoothly. We talked with a couple who took a different approach to embarkation: they stayed at a Regent hotel and used the bus to transport their luggage. But they enjoyed the afternoon in Copenhagen and then had a taxi take them to the ship at about 3pm and they experienced no lines. In general the food was delicious. We ate at La Veranda most days for breakfast and lunch and then Compass Rose for supper. The food was not overly spicy but was not bland either. Our only complaint about Compass Rose was the noise level - it gets really loud which diminishes the ambience a bit. Noise was never a problem in any of the other restaurants and we tried them all: Prime 7, Chartreuse, Sette Mari, and Pacific Rim. We found that as a general rule Regent's food service staff will accommodate just about any request. If you want an appetizer-sized portion of an entree, they can make that happen. Or if you enjoy an entree so much that you want a second helping, they will bring it to you - I requested seconds on the scallops one night at Compass Rose. Regarding the Regent excursions, I've seen reviews complaining about overcrowded buses, which we did not encounter. The problem we had was that the quality of the guides on the Regent excursions varied dramatically. A secondary issue was the scheduling of the Regent excursions: in most of the ports, it was only possible to go on one of Regent's excursions because they schedule all excursions to leave with an hour of each other. But the most important factor regarding excursions is: are you cruising to enjoy the ship or to spend time in the ports? For ports where you really want to learn about the city and make the best use of your time, arrange a private guide in advance. That's what we did in St. Petersburg and Stockholm and we are very glad that we did. A few other things: 1. Ships in general are not designed for tall people. I am 6'5" (195cm) and in the public rooms (restaurants, bars, etc) that was never a problem on the Explorer. And thankfully the shower stall in our cabin had adequate head room. But walking the hallways on the decks that have cabins was a bit dicey. And since our room was all the way aft, the hallway slopes up slightly, leaving less head room, so I could not actually stand up straight outside our door without banging my head on the light fixture. 2. There are laundry facilities available and Regent even provides soap. If Regent does your laundry for you, the prices are similar to what you would pay in a hotel: starting at $1.95 for socks and going up to $8.95 for slacks. 3. Reservations for the premium restaurants, Regent excursions, and spa services should be made in advance to guarantee you get the days/times that you want. The restaurant and excursion reservations are easily done through the Regent web site but I was not able to find a way to make spa reservations online. All in all, a great trip. Everything about it lived up to Regent's luxury reputation. The staff was always helpful, cheerful, and attentive. We've never really thought of ourselves as "cruise people," but if we cruise again it will be on Regent. Read Less

We chose Silver Sea because of the cruise ports, small ship, luxury accommodations, reputation for service, recommendation of travel agent and positive comments from friends. The voyage was a very positive experience and we were skeptical that cruising was for us. We are now thinking about our next cruise. Another advantage was meeting a number of wonderful people and making new friends. The staff was wonderful and was responsive to all our requests. Tour excursions were all good with the possible exception of the group tour in Tallinn. That could have been better organized. Our private tours organized by Silver Sea in St. Petersburg were a wonderful experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable, spoke excellent English and was very personable. Probably the only negative was the wifi system. It was free at our suite level but one had log in every hourwhich was a pain. Additionally, the wifi only allowed one device hooked into the system which did not allow photo sharing between my iPhone and iPad. These are very small negatives on what was a wonderful experience. We would use Silver Sea again. Read Less

Small and Luxury ship. Very personalized for passengers and well organized crew. Very good food in main restaurant, we could not get reservation at Champaign Restaurant, Our experience with the quality of fish menu at La Trezza restaurant was not good. Otherwise, there is nothing bad to say about food and drinks, specially breakfast. Entertainment was perfect as well, very nice and talented silversea voice. As far as visiting cities, after being spoiled in St. Petersburg, I guess Tallin did not have too much to offer. Very well selected tour guides in St. Petersburg and good local restaurants as well. Cabin butler and maid, both were very well trained and professional. We couldn't wait for afternoon tea and beautiful piano music, relaxing. And of course, last but not least, Cruise Director, (Vicky) was perfect and well in charge. Her last night's show " Ship Happens" was out of this world, she did a marvelous job.
