I had always wanted to visit the Panama Canal since I was born there while my father served in the US Navy. The Windstar cruise fit our needs very nicely. Our pickup from the Panama City airport was exactly on time - and our short stay at the Bristol was excellent. I wish we could have had more time to explore this fascinating city. The bus ride to the port was informative as a young man described what we were seeing along the way with a short description of Panama's colorful history. This vessel is very nice and well-maintained and operated by some of the best staff available. The food is excellent and plentiful while the service is tops. All the staff are very motivated and carefully concerned with your comfort and safety. The range of activities selected at the various stops is very good and carefully selected with quality guides and equipment as needed. If I had one complaint, it is the WiFi service offered. I paid an add'l $50 for 3 hours service and it was slow and intermittent with an awkward log-on/log-off procedure. This is becoming more important now since people want to check and send e-mails regularly. My other minor gripe is the AmphorA dining room - low-ceilinged and noisy, covered by a dress code mandating long pants in a tropical climate. The outdoor dining (Candles) was lots more fun with the same great food. Overall a great cruise with an excellent company in a beautiful region. Thanks Windstar! Read Less

We just got back from an 8 night cruise on board the Enchantment of the Seas - Royal Caribbean. Embarking out of Colon, Panama, with stops in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; Cartagena, Colombia; Santa Marta, Colombia; and Oranjestad, Aruba; finally docking in Fort Lauderdale, FL. For those of you who want details on the actual ship "The Enchantment of the Seas" let's get started. It's a very nice ship, with very friendly staff, touches of luxury, lots of fun activities, and a really entertaining crew. The ship itself, is kind of older, having launched into service in the late 90's. We had a balcony stateroom, and when you are on the balcony you can notice that the exterior paint is kind of old, and the balcony door is kind of old. But the stateroom itself was awesome. Pretty spacious in my opinion. Besides, you don't spend a whole lot of time in your room anyway. We found that our stateroom was exceptional clean at all times (thanks to our stateroom attendant) and was a nice place to sleep and recharge. The common areas (interior and exterior of the ship), are very nice. And you can tell are kept in very good shape. Everything must have been re-done recently. The main elevator area, called the Centrum was a stunning spectacle. Equipped with a nice little sitting area and dance area at the bottom, with views from 4 or 5 different floors. There was always some kind of piano player, violin player or guitar player doing something in the Centrum, it was nice. We loved it. The ship does have three nice pools on the 9th deck. A kiddie pool area, a general pool for adults and kids, and a solarium pool. The ship does have a nice fitness center, and a rock climbing wall. It also has a jogging track, ping pong tables, a night club, and a teen arcade area. This was a fun boat to be on. It never really got too crowded on the pool deck....plenty of beach chairs to go around if you want to lounge and work on your tan. The dining was great in my opinion. We had all of our breakfasts and lunches in the Windjammer cafe....which is like a nice restaurant buffet, where there is a variety of foods to choose from. In fact, there was a ton of food to choose from. Our dinners were spent in the main dining area - My Fair Lady, is what it is called, which was really nice. We had a great waiter and assistant waiter who took good care of us. Sometimes the entire wait staff would perform some kind of song and dance show for you - for a nice little laugh. The waiters and assistants are in black tie tuxedos, it's nice. It's important to note that you don't have to be in a tuxedo each night to have dinner, there were only 2 formal nights - which most men just wore a nice dark suit to and women wore nice dresses. The food was awesome, you can have steak every night if you want to, there was lobster one night, and there is seafood every night. Everything tasted good. And I am a big food snob. I had no complaints. It was like going to a nice celebratory restaurant every night, it was cool. The desserts were really good too! The entertainment was really cool. The ship has a huge two floor, theatre in the front, called The Odeum. We saw a Tango dance concert one night, a Beatles tribute band one night, a magician one night, a piano/singer one night, and a Broadway style show the other night. The talent was awesome, good singers, good dancers, good orchestra. There was a ton of fun, entertaining events to go to on this ship - karaoke, the Quest game, different kinds of contests and stuff, Officers vs. Guests pool volleyball games (hilarious), the Boleros latin-themed dance lounge, and the Casino. I could go on and on about this. We had a spectacular vacation on the Enchantment of the Seas. The shore excursions are very cool. Cartagena and Santa Marta are gorgeous towns. God, the history behind those towns. It's amazing. And of course, Aruba - paradise. Stunning. The beaches, my god the beaches. This was a fantastic cruise, aboard a charming, huge ship. I would definitely do this cruise again on this exact ship!!! Read Less
