Past her prime

Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Carnival Sunshine

We choose a cruise out of Charleston so we did not have to fly to get to the port. We had sailed on another Carnival ship out of Charleston prior to Covid. We knew this was not a newer ship, but it was convenient. We opted for the aft facing suite which we've not had before. Bad idea! There were two rooms, one of which was practically useless except for the desk. The balcony was smaller than ...

My parents booked this cruise for our family. Getting on the boat and checking in went fairly smoothly. We walked around the deck with the pool on floor 9 just checking everything out and we were very disappointed in how small the pool was. We were hoping that what we could do in our free time but it was just so small and filled with children or drunk adults when it was open. They had lots of ...

Typical Mid-Range Carnival Cruises Experience

This was a typical mid-range Carnival experience. It met my expectations but did not exceed my expectations or 'WOW' me. As usual, the main dining room has really gone downhill and it is a shame that specialty dining is required in the evenings for an excellent meal at dinner. Fortunately, breakfast/brunch and a few lunch offerings like Guys Burgers and the pizza place, are excellent in comparison ...

My 19 yo son and I have started a new tradition of doing a short cruise together each summer. Last year we did the RCL Freedom of the seas at 30 percent capacity. This was a Full ship. We have cruised Carnival before and I had a great casino offer. Overall a fun long weekend. There were some areas that needed improvement. The embarkation system is complicated but ran smoothly. They have ...

Not worth the money

We chose this cruise just to try Carnival since we have only been on RCCL and NCL. Never again. The ship was dirty and rusty. It had just come out of dry dock so I have no idea why all the windows and our balcony were dirty. We ate at Ji Ji and the windows were so dirty I closed the curtains. Used the public restrooms and time of day didn't matter - they were dirty. The food was o.k. Guys ...

ABOUT OUR PARTY: My husband and I, both in our 60's, have cruised on this ship twice before in 2010 and 2012 when it was still the "Destiny." We were eager to see how the refurb changed the ship and to experience the Port of Charleston. This was a five-day cruise visiting Nassau and Half Moon Cay. We cruised with our daughter, her husband, and our 8 and 10-year-old grandchildren. THE NIGHT ...

We choose this cruise because it was a 3-hour drive to the port for us. We arrived around 11:30 to the parking lot and there was no line and we pulled right up to the luggage tent, then followed directions to where to park and walked to Building 324 to check in. Somewhere in there we paid for the week to park but I can't remember if it was before luggage drop off or after. The lot lanes are A, ...

Having been on multiple lines, I was looking forward to being back on Carnival. This was for a 4 night out of Charleston, SC. Unfortunately, Carnival disappointed on multiple levels. I knew going in that this was an older ship but it had been refurbished in 2012 and I was hoping that the last 2 years would have given Carnival time to fix things on this ship when getting it back for ...

Disappointing

That about sums it up. From the food to the activities to the spa, it was awful. The only good thing was the waitstaff and room steward. The food was dull and the choices limited. The spa is a scam and overpriced. Except for the waitstaff and our room steward, the rest of the staff was rude and unhelpful. Our shore excursion was cancelled and the cruise did nothing to accommodate the cancelation. ...
