This ship has seen better days.At slower speeds the entire ship would rumble from the engine. The food was plentiful but at best average in taste. Service was not as individualize as on my previous cruises with Celebrity. even after 10 days at the same restaurant i was asked my name and room number. Attention to detail was missing, on several occasions there were misprints in the daily schedule ...
Our Australia/New Zealand Cruise was everything we had hoped for with exceptional sailing conditions. We flew to Singapore and stayed overnight in an extremely well located hotel in the Orchard Road vacinity, enabling us to explore the area and sample good food and hospitality. Then we flew from Singapore to Sydney and booked additional two nights stay before embarking our cruise ship. This was ...
On February 3rd, 2018, we sailed on the Celebrity Solstice on a 14 night cruise from Sydney, Australia-Auckland, New Zealand. We hit magnificent weather, although it had been over 100 degrees in Sydney before we arrived, It was actually cool while we were there. I was curious about the conditions in the Tasman Sea because I had always heard that it was rough, just like going around the tip of ...
Sydney to Auckland was new territory for us, but we were returning to the Celebrity Solstice after three years on other lines. The 14 day itinerary is fine. We were surprised at the changes in the ship.
Embarkation went well, but not the lifeboat training drill later that afternoon. Our drill was the longest I have experienced, first taking attendance for 700 guests, then scouting up the ...
We chose this cruise because of the 14 day itinerary, which started in Sydney and then went to Melbourne, Hobart Tasmania, Milford/Dusky/Doubtful Sounds (a day of amazing cruising of the fjords), and then 5 more stops up the east coast of New Zealand. Akaroa was my favorite because of the stunning scenery.
The Australia cruises sail during their summer, which is winter in the US, so it is a ...
This was our 14th cruise and our second with Celebrity. We chose this cruise because of the timing and the cruise line. We were on the Infinity last year for a cruise from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires and loved the clientele and the staff.
We arrived Sydney several days early and stayed in Potts Point at Hotel Challis, a wonderful small boutique hotel that we highly recommend. Embarkation was ...
We have been cruising with Celebrity since 1999. We had just done a last minute cruise onOceania Insignia and were concerned that that would diminish our enjoyment of Solstice.
Fortunately, that was not the case. Everything just seemed to click on this cruise.
We had a wonderful pre- cruise stay which our children arranged for us at the Park Hyatt.
An added bonus was seeing the Solstice ...
Overall
This was our second Celebrity cruise. We normally sail on smaller ships and were somewhat apprehensive about being on a large ship. Overall the experience was extremely good. The factor that made a major difference was booking a Celebrity Suite which afforded additional perks such as, butler service, Michael’s Club and the Luminae restaurant. We also had the “Go Best” package that ...
I heard that Solstice was a nice ship and as it was our 52nd wedding anniversary I thought it would be a great way to celebrate. Couldn't fault the service and food and Errol in the Ensemble Lounge was fantastic. We had the best cocktails we've tasted in a long time. Sorry that he is retiring as he was a great asset and will be missed. The Captain kept us very entertained.
Would have liked ...
We had done the same cruise in 2013 and a Reflection in the Mediterranean in 2014 and as both were super I booked Solstice again. As our agent knew our preferences I stayed with her and the process was stress free.
Starting with the negative aspects so I can finish with a plus. Some of the daytime talks were just about selling their products. One on looking more youthful as we age was actually ...
