We took a cruise to celebrate Spring Break. We departed from Miami Terminal G. Upon first arrival in the terminal, the age and lack of cleanliness were apparently going to foreshadow the remainder of the trip. While everyone in the terminal was very nice, it just was not up to the Celebrity status that we have come accustomed to.
Our first stop was in Key West which did go smoothly. It was ...
Celebrity doesn’t include gratuities in the booking price but you should be aware of their strong pressure tactics to get you to tip what they want you to tip and it is NOT DEPENDENT upon quality of service.
In the old days, you tipped your waiter, room steward, maître d’, etc. based on a the cruise line's recommended amount adjusted for the quality of the service provided you; in other ...
The summit has a great overall look, until you look closely. There were a lot of smaller issues that appeared to have been overlooked, resulting in a not so great overall experience. The food was a highlight, with great food and service in the main dinning room (Cosmopolitan Restaurant). The concierge staff, guest services staff, shop staff, and casino staff were all fantastic. The live music was ...
We chose this ship for 2 reasons. One was because it was our first Celebrity cruise and two, we wanted to visit Key West.
I kept hearing great things about Celebrity, so I figured to give it a try. We’ve been on many different lines, so we had a lot to compare certain things to.
The not so good…
First thing to say is the ship is old and is in need of some attention in many places. Rust is ...
Now that we are both retired, my wife and I have resumed cruising and as part of that we decided to try a few more of the main-stream lines we had not sailed before. We prefer small to medium size ships (about 100,000 GT or less with under 2,000 passengers) and have no interest in megaships. Summit was right on the upper limit of our preferred ship size and passenger capacity.
We found a nice ...
We'd been sooo looking forward to this cruise cuz of the entertainment, "Fingers Felder" headlining, lotsa others like Moody Blues John Lodge & Jon Davison (John Jr I called him), The Orchestra dong ELO, etc. Those 3 were great, but not as easy to meet & greet AS HOPED. You pay a lotta $$$ to see these stars. Queen Nation was wonderful to hear & also to get autographs & pics with, John Lodge did ...
I actually won this cruise in a sweepstakes giveaway. The ship was very well maintained and clean. All ship staff were kind, friendly, and helpful. Decor of the ship wasn't very good. Sculptures and airwork around ship was very dull. What was the worse about this cruise was the food. Didn't go to any of the specialty dining but the grill by pool, the buffet, and the main dining room the food ...
My partner and I had sailed two previous times with Celebrity and had not even considered another cruise line when we wanted a quick getaway for New Years. This sailing had us questioning if we’d ever come back to Celebrity due to the lackluster service, dining procedure, multiple drink options unavailable, and a nickel and diming attitude I thought was for other cruise lines.
First, the ...
Chose Celebrity because I had always heard how wonderful they were and we were looking for a quick getaway. The moment we entered our cabin we noticed a horrible odor coming from the bathroom. We assumed it would subside, but it did not. It literally made us sick to our stomachs. We thought about changing to another stateroom, but I smelled the same odor in one of the public restrooms as well and ...
The Positives;
I must say that the Summit is a nicely designed ship & well appointed both in the public areas and the Staterooms (starting to get a little rusty around the edges). The half dozen bar/lounge areas are sumptuous, inviting spaces both day & night! The other thing that was a noticeable plus, was the stellar service of all the restaurant staff & Stateroom attendants.
The ...
