1) Cruise left Barcelona on Oct. 3, 2009 arrived in Venice Oct. 17, 2009. 2) We left home Oct 1st spent a night in Barcelona and stayed an extra night in Venice. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Quickly adjusted to time zone as well as not being in a crazy rush on sail day. 3) Stayed in Eurostars Ramblas Boqueria in Barcelona, Columbus Hotel in Rome (During 2 day Rome visit), Hotel Casa Nova in Venice.

We are a retired couple and love to travel. This was our fourth cruise and our third trip to Europe. We have cruised twice on HAL about 35 years ago and on Sitmar around 38 years ago. We cruised again last year on Princess. This year we were new to Celebrity.
Our port of embarkation was Barcelona. We flew from our home in Detroit to JFK and from JFK to Barcelona. We arrived two days early and ...
We cruised the Mediterranean Legacies itinerary on Celebrity's Summit sailing October 17-30, 2009. With it being our first time in Europe, we were greedy for as many ports of call as possible, and we booked the ship's shore excursions at many of the ports. By the end of the second week, we were exhausted, and WHEN we do this sailing again, will be a bit less adventurous in the ports and may stay ...
My husband and I have returned from the Barcelona-Venice Mediterranean cruise on the Summit. After reading some reviews of the Summit before we went I was a little worried, but everything went perfect and we had a fantastic holiday.
Embarkation was fast and very well organized. We got to the port, the baggage was taken away, and we spent 15 minutes at the checking-in desk and then we went ...
This was our first Celebrity Cruise with two previous RCCL cruises to Mexico and Alaska. We choose this ship for its itinerary and it is a very port intensive trip to say the least. There are four days in which you have port calls in Cannes, Florence, Rome, and. Naples.
We arrived in BARCELONA two days before the ship's departure. We stayed at Condes de Barcelona, one of the hotels on ...
I am not a nitpicker so I will not go on about unvarnished railings or worn carpets etc. as I saw no evidence of either and I can't possibly see how these sorts of things can affect a cruise. The ship is magnificent,in excellent condition and all evidence is that it is well maintained. EMBARKATION: We arrived at the port of Barcelona at 2.00pm after an eleven euro taxi fare from the Hotel ...
We started our trip with an extra day in Barcelona, and we're glad we had the extra night, because we were both quite jet lagged and needed to rest up before we tackled trying to see all we could in one day. Not easily done, but we got to the major attractions and sights. Finally it was time to board the ship. Just driving to the pier was exciting, seeing that wonderful huge ship just waiting ...
My family have recently returned from the Barcelona-Venice Mediterranean cruise on the Summit. Having read reviews of the Summit before we went I was a bit worried, but everything went smoothly and we had a fantastic holiday.
We booked the flights ourselves through Easyjet and the money we saved on this paid for a hotel for 2 nights in Barcelona pre-cruise and a night in Venice post-cruise, both ...
Having just read the previous review, I feel compelled to present a different side to the story. I was on the same cruise and had a wonderful time! Yes, there were a few glitches, such as occur one way or another on most sailings, but we refused to let them deter us from enjoying our vacation to the max.
We had booked a veranda guarantee and were okay with our room assignment, a 2A room, ...
SUMMIT REVIEW
I hope that this review is helpful and not overly detailed or boring! My DH and I have neither cruised before and selected this particular cruise for the destinations; cruising has made visiting Europe much more affordable than land-based tours.
Our overall impressions: Ship-beautiful and still in good shape for its age. Cabin and private balcony were great, wish we had a ...
