Loved Bermuda and the Celebrity Summit

Review for a Bermuda Cruise on Celebrity Summit

This was our first time on Celebrity and our first time to Bermuda. I am 46 and DH is 49.We had cruised RCCL in the past (7x) but wanted a small ship. We flew in to Newark and stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Newark. Free airport shuttle but NO SHUTTLE to cruise port (We knew this in advance). The front desk called a car (we thought it would be a taxi) but instead it was Victor with a Black ...

Very Good Cruise to Bermuda

We sailed from Bayonne, NJ after arriving at Newark airport very early the same day. Took a cab from the airport for around $60 with tip. The cabs are regulated by the State of NJ. Took over 2 long hours to embark because of some unknown problem. But Celebrity helped that out by upgrading us from oceanview to balcony. We had the Classic drink package which provided us with all drinks that we ...

Celebrity Summit, nice ship, nothing special

We sailed aboard the Celebrity Summit from Port Liberty, Bayonne, NJ to Kings Warf in Bermuda, the first week of May, 2015. We were shadowed on our journey by the Norwegian Breakaway ship with the same destination. The Summit is a mid-sized older ship that is undergoing some refurbishment. The ship was clean with the exception of the salt covered windows and it was immediately obvious that their ...

Plenty to Like, and Some Quibbles

This is our third cruise with Celebrity, and our second successive trip aboard their older Millennium-class ships. Many of the things we like about Celebrity--the polite and attentive staff, the cleanliness of the cabins and public spaces, the choice of dining venues, the ease of embarcation and departure--were in evidence again on this cruise. Since our favorite thing to do en route to our ...

I am a brand new member of Cruise Critics and read the last two years of reviews that pertained to this specific ship and port of departure. I started with the 1 star rating and worked my way up, speed reading the 5 star reviews because there was so many. I didn't tell anyone I was a member and I booked a GTY Oceanview. My conclusion on reviews is that you would have to really offend Davy Jones ...

It's our 25th Anniversary and we wanted to do something special so we chose a cruise and we were not disappointed. Now, this being our first cruise, we have nothing to compare it to, but we have done our share of traveling and have seen the good with the bad and this was nothing but good for us. One of the things that impressed us the most was the crew. Everywhere we went we were always ...

Repositioning cruise to New York

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Celebrity Summit

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent repositioning cruise on Summit. Although we were in a sky suite and had most of our meals in Luminae, we also went into the main dining room and the buffet. All of the restaurants had excellent food and service and in no way has the sectioning off of a very small portion of the main dining room impacted on the service, food, or space for diners in the MDR. ...

DW and I have only cruised with Royal Caribbean - 25 or so times since 2001 (many of them short 3 nighters). Many times it has been recommended to us that we try out Celebrity, and so we booked this 8 night repositioning cruise from San Juan to Bayonne. Our first impressions was that it was quite smooth boarding the ship in San Juan. We shared a taxi to the port with another couple who was on ...

An older ship, but there are pearls

This was the third time on the Summit. I prefer hands down the Solstice class. We have taken this ship three times because it was going where we wanted to go. We have sailed other Solstice class ships and knew the Summit was old and tired. We got from this cruise what we wanted and that was a low key, laid back, enjoy the ocean type experience. We were not seeking entertainment (as we know ...
