Greetings, One and All. By my guesstimate, this was my 12th cruise, though my first repositioning sailing. In total transparency... I readily admit it's been ten years since my last one...also on the Summit where I had 3 adjoining, balcony rooms... Kids and Godparents necessitated that togetherness. That being said, you know it's a bad omen when you show up at the cruise terminal four hours prior ...
Primarily decided upon this cruise due to the itinerary as it stopped at 5 different Caribbean Islands that both myself and sister wanted to go to; Barbados, St Lucia, St Marteen, St Kitts and St Thomas.
Acceptable points:
1. Larger cabins that Royal Caribbean cruise ships
2. Nice and friendly cabin boy
3. Best place on the ship - outdoor cinema (except during the rain of course) ...
We have cruised 5 times now and are trying to narrow down what cruise line and style we like best. Celebrity Summit definitely is NOT one we would choose again. We chose this based on recommendations from our travel agent that we would enjoy the smaller ship size and atmosphere as it is a "step up from Royal Caribbean." Though we did enjoy the smaller size (the ship was easy to remember and ...
We are Celebrity fans and booked two back to back cruises. The itineraries were ideal for this purpose and visited some very nice places.
The cruise was good, overall. The food was better this week than the previous week, although there were some dishes that were not very good. We ate mostly in the main dining restaurant, with lunches in the Oceanview Cafe.
Our main complaint was our ...
We are Celebrity fans, but this cruise was below standard. The food in the main dining area was quite variable. One night the entree was undercooked and cold, then next night over cooked and tasteless. Steaks were like shoe leather. Also, the Oceanview Cafe food was passable, but not terribly appetizing. We did not try the specialty restaurants since we had already paid for the food, and did ...
Let me start by saying that we have about 15 previous Celebrity cruises under our belt - and 30+ in all. We started with X back in the early days of Chandris, sailing on the Meridian, Horizon, Zenith, up to the largest ships. We prefer smaller ships but have enjoyed the Aqua Class/Blu experience so much that it offsets the size issues. We have done holiday cruises many times on Celebrity and other ...
I've cruised with many different lines, over the years. This was my first time with Celebrity, however, and I was excited after "hearing about" (IE- seeing on tv) it's acclaim.
All I can say now is...just don't go. Here, let me break this down for you future-cruisers:
1. FOOD: was acceptable, but not in any way up to the standards of Holland America or Royal Caribbean lines. Only two main dining ...
We sailed to the eastern Caribbean over Christmas 2012 and were very disappointed. I sailed the Norwegian fjords on the Constellation in July 2011 and loved it. The service was fantastic. I expected the same on the Summit, but instead experienced the most disinterested service I've experienced on any line (have also sailed HAL, Crystal and Princess). The disappointment began when we walked ...
Our cabin had black mold in the shower, the carpet was worn with holes, there was a four foot by 1 foot rust stain on the wall of the balcony, the floor of the balcony looked like a city sidewalk.
We went on a tour in St Croix and it poured rain. We were in site of the venue we had paid for but it was pouring rain. The tour operator phoned the ship to get the trip cancelled but the ship ...
