Comfortable cruise, excellent service, minor issues

Review for Celebrity Summit to Caribbean - Eastern

We usually venture farther afield, but chose this cruise for several reasons - a very high percentage of adults, recently upgraded ship, good friends were going, and we had never done a Celebrity cruise and wanted to find out if it's a cruise line we would use again This Caribbean cruise won't be our last. We surprised ourselves by loving the whole experience, especially the beautiful waters ...

Horrible Food

I just went on a Celebrity Summit cruise and the bathroom had a really smelly sewage smell. We were shown several rooms that also had that same smell. The room attendant said that the pipes needed to be fixed. I also experienced the same smell in one of the whirlpools. The food in the buffet made me really sick, maybe that’s because the chefs do not wear any gloves when they prepare the food. I ...

Terrible food

First, the thermostat in our room never worked and was “repaired” 3 times. But food was the real problem. The cafeteria food was universally greasy, except personal omelets by Don Hyndryx. The restaurant was unable to serve the meager choices on its own menu. I ordered roasted pork loin and was served ham, and salad Nicoise with “French onion Dijon” dressing was served with the usual choices ...

I chose this itinerary because it worked with my schedule and it was better priced than most others b/c it was a repositioning cruise. I have traveled on all the major lines and I knew I wanted to try Celebrity again. My goal was to relax the ports of call were not very important to me. I was hesitant choosing Summit because of her age. I read both good and poor reviews. I also didn't want a ...

Nothing but a glowing reviewed cruise ever...

This was my dream cruise for 17 years not knowing it was even a luxury cruise. Then, my dream came true as of this past cruise. The double handicap interior stateroom was the most beautiful and largest stateroom in the interior category (get it before they do a complete makeover in 2019)...plus, we had our own padded headboards (per bed) unlike many other cruise lines. Thelma, our room stewardess ...

Caribbean and Bermuda

This cruise was chosen specifically for the itinerary. Summit is an older ship, introduced in 2001. Although the public areas except for the Oceanview Cafe are updated, the staterooms are tired. It is scheduled for refurbishment in early 2019 but Celebrity has a tendency to delay replacement of chairs, couches, and bathroom sinks and mirrors. Rust was prevalent on the balcony, the chairs in ...

First time to Bermuda

My husband and I chose this cruise because it was cheap and visited my favorite two Caribbean ports - St. Thomas and St. Martin. This was cruise 29 for us. The was our first time to visit Bermuda. We flew to Puerto Rico from Nashville, TN the day of the cruise on SW. We experienced no delays nor any problems. We took a taxi outside the airport for $27.00 to the cruise port. Because of the ...

Good cruise

Ship is showing its age in places. Food is very good as are most of the staff. Would not pay full price for this ship. Embarkation on port days was awful due to insufficient and rude staff at security stations. Cruise director Patrick is not funny at all. Very few activities on board. Paper airplane contests. Same music repeated all day every day for the entire 8 night cruise. Lounge chairs ...

Great repo cruise from San Juan to Bayonne

This was my first cruise on Celebrity, I've previously sailed on Holland America. Thus, this review is somewhat of a comparison of my experiences on both lines. Embarking: San Juan is very accessible. Found out that Celebrity actually asked for a hard copy of my boarding pass, which I didn’t bother to print. I had to break out my laptop to show them, and even then they still had to write some ...

We liked this itinerary. Wanted to see how all of the islands are recovering from the hurricanes. Most residents seemed upbeat, thanking those who have helped and are still helping in their recovery. We had never been to Bermuda, so this was a nice way to see it for those two days. We enjoy Aqua Class, eating in Blu. We are also now Elite, and enjoyed the perks, especially our nightly ...
