-Let me first start off by saying that I have cruised extensively with Royal Caribbean and Carnival in the past, and this was my first time sailing with Celebrity. I had my Royal Caribbean credits transferred to Celebrity, though, so I am an "elite" member of their Captain's Club program.
-We started our vacation off by flying into Barcelona 2 days ahead of our sail date. (For new cruisers, if ...
We have recently cruised with both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. Both ships carried well over 2500 passengers. Years ago we cruised the Eastern Mediterranean on a Greek ship which only held under 300 passengers and have also done a couple of river cruises.
The difference is very apparent. The larger ships provide indifferent service and basic restaurant food whilst smaller ships provide ...
We had been recommended to try Celebrity cruises as we had travelled with many other cruise lines, doing well over 20 cruises in all parts of the world
We chose this cruise as it was flying to Barcelona, thereby avoiding the North Atlantic weather, and for its interesting ports.
I'm sure that many cruisers think the Solstice is wonderful, but it is not for us! The ship's design is such that ...
We chose Celebrity Solstice for our Ruby Wedding Anniversary cruise because she was sailing to the right places (Nice, Rome, Naples, Venice) at the right price and on the right date. We booked our own B.A. flights and stayed overnight at
Barcelona Airport Marriott Renaissance -a good hotel with shuttles to the Cruise Terminal.
Check-in for the Solstice went smoothly until we read the sheet ...
Solstice cruise -â€" 10-23-11
This is a rather long review / recap of our trip to Europe via the Celebrity Solstice. Overall this was not our "Best" Celebrity cruise, mostly due to bad luck in our draw of Main Dining Room servers. Other cruise critic members on our cruise raved about their service team. If you just want the summary, scroll way down to the last few paragraphs.
Our flights ...
This was the eighth cruise for my wife & I--Our third Med. cruise. Last on Ruby Princess in 2009. We last cruised Celebrity on Millenium in 2007 in Med & found it superior in many ways.
Things we found good; The food in MDR was very good every night & the service was equally good. On past cruises we have always eaten in Specialty restaurants but did not on Solstice because MDR was so ...
We recently completed a 12 day cruise to/from Barcelona.
We were disappointed in:
a. The number of children on board ... from various cruise reviews I expected a older group of passengers and a more peaceful atmosphere. The ship was so large that we seemed to be waiting in line for everything. Getting a table and eating in the Ocean Cafe (the buffet) required a ...
I booked Concierge Class because of the perks - what the heck it was only a few hundred dollars more. We did not receive priority embarkation nor debarkation's as advertised nor were we given special access to our staterooms when we were finally permitted to board the ship. The ship is impressive - the staterooms are well appointed, the atrium truly magnificent. The food is good but not as good ...
Embarcation was efficient and well planed.
Embarkation went very well.
The staterooms were very pleasant and balcony of adequate size. But the soundproofing between the rooms was very bad indeed. Entertainment not as good as the RCI ships.
Breakfast always luke warm I asked why is the food always only warm, reply from one of the supervisors...if the heat is turned up the food ...
CELEBRITY SOLSTICE NOT AS WONDERFUL AS THE FIRST TIME AROUND
We just returned from a 10 night, Rome-Greece-Turkey-Greece-Rome cruise on the Solstice.
We booked this trip way back in August of 2008, and when the opportunity arose to be able to take a 7 day Caribbean trip on the Solstice in March of 2009, we jumped at it. THAT trip was spectacular...the ship, the staff, the ...
