Terrible Food and Lame Entertainment

Review for a Transpacific Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

The food in Cafe Blu was horrible. I am a plant eater mostly. My choices were limited and tasteless. My husband found the meats in the Ocean View Cafe to be over cooked. I have noticed on our last 3 cruises with Celebrity that the quality of food has gone down. The entertainment has always been slow, but enjoyable. However, during this cruise the entertainment was unimaginative. I felt like the ...

Disappointing

We booked Aqua class, as had done several times before. Not worth it, and for much less, you get almost the same in other categories, like Veranda or Concierge. Blu restaurant was always full, had to wait 15-20 minutes every evening, no matter what time we arrived. Breakfast is available between 7.30 and 9. Good but very slow. Seems they are short on personnel. Menu not as good as it used to ...

Where do you Start.? The Good - The Staterooms ( Balcony) are bigger than other cruise lines - The corridors are bigger - The Captain was outstanding. in communication and very funny. That unfortunately is where it ends The Ship is tired - Cabin Curtains with holes - Carpets worn and stained - Public rooms are worn and tired Particularly the Passport Bar. Theatre seating very shabby. The ...

A boring cruise with a very uncomfortable bed

Thought it would be a good way to visit a variety of destinations, but it wasn't that way. The bed was very uncomfortable, and after several complaints had the deck manager inspect it and agreed to have a one piece overlay placed over the mattress to try to give some comfort. Bed was suppose to be a queen, but was two singles put together. A foam overlay was first placed on top after the ...

This was the only cruise line sailing from Hawaii to Australia at the time we were going. On-board check was done ahead of time yet we had to go through it all over again. Very disconcerting. The too narrow sofa had a stained mattress. Ugh! Dining was just so-so. The extra dining rooms were priced high at $50/person. Much too pricey. They would stand outside the main dining area and ...

Captive days at sea

PROS: I have to disagree with many of the reviews that decried the quality of the dining. We found dinner to be quite pleasant, even if the menu did become a little repetitive. Our waiter and assistant waiter were outstanding, and we couldn't go wrong by following their suggestions. Dinner was served efficiently so that we usually could make it to the early show in time, and the cafeteria offered ...

A relatively EXPRENSIVE 17 DAY TRANSITION CRUISE TO SYDNEY FROM HONOLULU...Lots of people sick from on board virus..(removed number 0ver 200). food in dinning room and buffet monotonous and bland. Asst Ma'de tried to calm us down over food issues and brought chef to us--who then made excuses about trying to please guest who didn't like spicy or tasty food. (Cruise line trying to please wrong ...

Cruise was very disappointing

We chose this cruise because the last time we sailed on celebrity we had a wonderful time and rated celebrity as the top of the line. We were originally planning to sail on Norwegian but switched to the Solstice when we saw it. Big mistake. It was the most boring cruise I have ever taken. I have been on 15 cruises on 4 different lines. Celebrity is now at the bottom of my rating. The ...

My wife has waited for 40 years to see Hawaii but this trip was the worst ever. The ship was very good but the excursions are not set up for passengers with disabilities as there was nothing that could accommodate an electric portable scooter . We saw nothing of Hawaii only the shops around the dock area. The entertainment was so poor that the passengers were leaving the theatre as the shows were ...

Overpriced

We chose this cruise because of the wonderful experience we had on Infinity and of course the itinerary. Alas, this was a huge disappoint. We paid for a Royal Suite and the truth is, it was no where near worth it. Check in was appalling. We queued for over an hour and a quarter in a CAR PARK, inhaling car fumes and as taxi's were constantly depositing guests to join the queue, the atmosphere ...
