Beautiful Ship but over crowded

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

This was our 19th cruise and our 5th with Celebrity Cruises. We liked sailing on the Millennium, Constellation, Galaxy and Century. We thought we knew what Celebrity was like, so we looked forward to trying a new class of ship. Boy were we surprised! We've been to the Eastern Caribbean many times before so we were taking this cruise for rest and relaxation. We were also looking forward to ...

My wife and I and our 26 and 24 year children just got back from the last Eastern Caribbean cruise prior to it heading to Europe for the summer. We gave this cruise to our children for their Christmas present. It was my 16th cruise and second on the Solstice. We could not have been more disappointed. I took this same cruise last March 2011 and it was very nice if you compare it to NCL and other ...

Very Unmerry Christmas

My son and I have cruised 20+ times in the past and Celebrity has always been our favourite. WE are Elite members and have sailed on Solstice two years ago. At that time we had enjoyed our cruise very much and we were looking forward to have the same experience. Unfortunately this time the cruise did not turn out to be up to Celebrity standard. It seemed like I was on a totally different ship. ...

First and Last Celebrity Cruise

I've been on several cruise lines, and I enjoyed Celebrity the least. Yes, we had a good time (how can you not enjoy the Caribbean?), but not as much as any of the others.. On the plus side: I would have to say that everyone followed the dining room dress-code better than I've seen elsewhere. No jeans or T-shirts. And, everyone seemed to stay in their nice clothes for the ...

Solstice Sickness

We sailed on the Solstice from 1/30 - 2/5, there were a significant number of of the virus. Several people throwing up right in the common areas, even in the dining room. I know this happens on all ships but I thought that the Solstice management people were entirely unprepared to deal with it. From the beginning when boarding people were forced to wait in a line that stretched around the ...

First time cruisers...and probably last time as well

Our family of 4 had been interested in cruising for some time and thought it could be a new standard vacation for us, but this was our first trip chosen because of a group that featured fantastic speakers. Since we have no prior cruise experience with which to compare the Solstice, we can only compare it to our international family travel and resort experiences. The disappointment began a ...

Before we left the ship, and again yesterday in answer to a call inquiring about our recent Solstice experience, I expressed our disappointment with the Cabin staff and the overall cleanliness of the cabin. I cited incidents when Cabin staff could have done their job better and been helpful. In contrast, our wait staff worked hard to provide service to several tables, and promptly replaced several ...

I returned from a cruise on Celebrity Solstice on Nov 7, 2011. This was my 29th cruise. To say I was disappointed would be a gross understatement. While the ship is beautiful and the crew with one exception was fantastic the cruise was a total disaster. I had previously sailed with Celebrity and it was exceptional. To begin, the entertainment was extremely lacking. The only show with a comedian ...

We have previously cruised on NCL and Royal Caribbean & thoroughly enjoyed all five cruises. After a 6-year hiatus, we decided to sail on Celebrity because of the reputation, reviews & desire for a more upscale experience. Parts of the cruise were very nice, but we did not have the wonderful cruise we anticipated. Embarkation was easy and there were venues open for lunch. Our cabin was the ...

Nickel and dimed to death

We understood Celebrity Cruises to be an upscale cruise line. The cruise price certainly reflects this hype. We found the quality of the food and evening entertainment below our expectations. Frankly, our meals on all other cruise lines tasted better. For the first several days, the food was served barely warm. This improved after we asked the wait staff to ensure our food was hot. The description ...
