These comments will be lengthy, but because (fortunately) most Celebrity passengers will not have the medical emergency experience we did, I thought some detail about it might be helpful to others. If you don't like medical details or are a major worrier, you might want to skip this one!
My husband and I were passengers on the April 8, 2012 sailing of the Solstice from FLL to the Eastern ...
Were back from our RC Jewel of the Seas Cruise out of Tampa, and our Celebrity Solstice Cruise out for Ft Lauderdale.
With less than a week between each.
We were on the Jewel with other past TA friends, and it was perfect, great food in all the restaurants, and a happy and a in tune crew.
BUT the Solstice was another story, newer, bigger and with beautiful lines.
It was both Great! ...
A little about us: DH and I are in our early 40's and have 3 young children. We are both in exec level positions at tech companies, and have travelled extensively. We both love good food, and enjoy most any cuisine - whether it's fine dining or a well made burger & fries.
Our previous cruising experience: Before we were married, DH had done a transatlantic on a recently-made-infamous cruise ...
My wife and I are 28 and 35, respectively, and have 2 children. Lucky for us, however, the kids has prior plans, so we were free to have a "couples holiday vacation" for the first time in years!
Embarkation -
We arrived to Port Everglades at about 1:30, and were the only ones in the AQ line to check-in. Took less than ten minutes from arrival until boarding the ship. There were at least ...
This was our third cruise, the first two being on Carnival. We live in Florida so we drove to port the morning of our cruise. We arrived around noon. We dropped our luggage off with the Porters then my husband parked the car while I waited for him near the terminal entrance. Embarkment was quick and easy. There was a short line and wait but that should be expected with almost 3000 people ...
A friend and I booked this Celebrity Solstice cruise, after getting a terrific internet deal, just three weeks before we left. Both of us have cruised before, but not a lot; we have been more inclined to travel on our own. But this Celebrity Solstice trip has made a believer of me. I will never give up making my own way around the world, but spending time on this particular cruise ship was pretty ...
Things I loved about Soltice; the non-smoking. There were only a couple of areas that people were allowed to smoke and it was enforced. I was totally amazed that that all of the bars, lounges and clubs, as well as, the casino were smoke free. This was fantastic. My favorite area was the Solarium. The atmosphere was so relaxing with the quiet music, the aromas from the the spa and an adult only ...
I've always wondered if I would enjoy a 14+ day cruise but after departing FLL just a few hours ago I can say 8 days was long enough. My comments don't relate to Celebrity in particular but rather people and their behavior. In other words, the natives were getting restless and it was nice to leave them behind.
Now to my review of the Solstice and more specifically AquaClass cabins -Overall ...
My husband and I took our first Celebrity cruise (Solstice). We were on the 11th floor - Aqua Class. Part of the package we purchased included VIP embarkation & debarkation - which we were really looking forward to, especially coming back since we had a 12 drive ahead of us. Embarkation was delayed because there was a virus on the previous cruise, and the ship needed an extra big cleaning. Not a ...
My Cruise on the Solstice was on the March 6th to 13th sailing. It was a very good cruise. My mother is 74 sister is 48 and I'm 42 went. We drove down from Atlanta GA. 12 hour drive which later, we kind of wished we flew. My sister got a deal thru Priceline for the Hyatt Regency right across the bridge from the Port Everglades for 75$. We woke up and we saw all the ships in the morning. The check ...
