We chose this cruise as we wanted to travel to India, but were unsure about what that destination would be like, so we saw cruising as a safe and easier option (with the benefit of returning to our version of normality at the end of each day). It was a good choice. We could experience the manic chaos of India and enjoy the sensory overload that it is, and then retreat each afternoon/evening to our cabin for a hot shower, on deck for a drink, and to the air conditioned comfort we are accustomed to. Overnight in Mumbai was fantastic, as we got to experience the never ending energy that the city offers by going out to a restaurant for dinner then exploring night markets before retreating back to the ship. The other ports were also interesting, but India was our real reason for this trip. The ship and staff were great. We were lucky enough to score an aqua class cabin which meant we could dine for breakfast and dinner in the Blu restaurant. Very good service and lovely well balanced meals made it overall the best dining experience we've had on a ship. We went to the Qsine restaurant twice and that was outstanding. Usually we enjoy nightlife and music in the evenings, but we were so tired after each port day, we didn't bother this time, it was early nights most of the time. The shows we went to were very good and a good variation of acts. Our cabin was pretty standard balcony, which was more than adequate. Read Less

Just thought I’d share a few notes with our fellow cruisers out there. I’ve never written a review before so bare with me. We started in Singapore, one of the most expensive cities in the world. It’s what a major city should look like clean, architecturely beautiful and easy to maneuver. Our hotel faced the iconic Sands hotel. This area is close to most of the attractions so the price point for these hotels are a premium. We went to the Longbar in the Raffels Hotel and had a Singapore Sling for $37.00us, ouch, but it was a cool experience. Explore and enjoy this city, taxis are the best way to get around. The Celebrity Millenium has gone through a re-fit which,in my opinion is okay. The rooms lack color and feel cold. The closet just doesn’t work for tall people’s clothing although there was adequate drawer space. The tubs they used to have in the veranda suites have been replaced with showers, too bad. Public spaces were very nice but some of the light fixtures in the buffet area had bad placement by being to low and at times I’d hit my head on it. One other complaint were the chairs in the public spaces, they lacked ‘sliders’ on the bottom of the legs which made them hard to pull out or push in. On the positive side the mattresses were fabulous, new carpets, lovely to walk on, new lounge chairs by the pool excellent. That’s just a few thing that stood out for me. One major issue I had with this cruise was the distance of the major cities from the ports. I would strongly recommend people to realize the traveling times of each excursion and perhaps stay in a hotel in the overnight ports. (eg. Bangkok 2-1/2hrs each way) Not unless you like bus rides ;-). When we booked it we thought it wouldn’t be too bad, but it was. We went to the Ban-nai Hills to see the Golden Bridge, which was pretty cool but just be aware that at the top of the tram ride the French Village your going to see is nothing but a replicated village and amusement park with hotels and restaurants. Shops didn’t open till 5pm and it was wall to wall people. Not really what I thought I’d see. Needless to say all of the ports were interesting to visit and thought we got a good feel for the countries we visited. Service on board was pretty good, one waiter in the Rendezvous Lounge had issues with service but we still survived. Dining room waiters were awesome, food was pretty good. Tried two specialty restaurants both well worth the extra money. The only thing lacking in the evening meal were vegetables, so we asked for a side every night. That being said, we wondered why the lack of tropical fruit in the buffet. What they had were melons, pineapple, kiwi and dragon fruit in hiding spots but no mango, papaya or guava. All that being said it was long 14 day cruise and I now need a vacation from my vacation. Read Less

Our first Celebrity cruise. Embarkation was very good but my first contact with onboard crew was that they where miserable, no smiles, no welcome. Cabin was very nice but still a few small jobs not completed from the refurb and the shower leaked very badly and was reported on numerous occasions. The cabin was extremely noisy early morning due to the sun loungers being dragged around by the staff, it is quite lucky we are early risers. Really felt that an area should have been kept for Aqua class on the pool deck. The meals in Blu got a little monotonous but the service was excellent. The excursions where all great. Service was very good and the staff redeemed themselves by being freindly and helpful plus remembering who we where and what we normally drank etc. Did not see any of the shows but enjoyed the morning outdoor film and the captains daily talk was not to be missed. Disembarkation went very smoothly Read Less

My wife and I recently took our first cruise on the Celebrity Millenium to Asia, boarding in Singapore, disembarking at Hong Kong. As this was our first ever cruise we cannot compare the other ships or companies. We chose this cruise because of its itinerary. We found on arrival at the terminal that everything was well organised and boarded the ship within 45 minutes. The bars were open and our luggage arrived at our room within 3 hours. You could tell the Millenium was an older ship but having recently been in for a refurb it was very tastefully done in neutral colours giving it a spacious, airy feel. Our cabin (7156 balcony) was of a high quality with no problems, plenty of storage,a good shower and a very comfortable bed. Our cabin steward kept it immaculate and if he met us in the morning he always welcomed us by name and enquired if there was anything we required. The food was of a high quality and we had all of our breakfasts except one in the self service cafe. We had dinner in the main dining restaurant, ate at the Sushi on 5, Tuscan and Qsine, which we were happy to pay extra for as we wanted to experience food in different restaurants. The service and quality of the food was excellent in all. We had a classic drinks package which was more than ample for our needs and on the odd occasion when we ordered a drink which was not in the package we were advised that a supplement would be added to our bill which was not a problem. The evening entertainment in the theatre was of a high quality. Only two shows out of the ten that we saw were mediocre but that is a matter of opinion. All the staff shows were brilliant. The music and dancing in the Cosmos bar at the end of the night appealed some nights depending on the choice of music and the Silent Disco where everyone was wearing headphones listening to different music was hilarious and thoroughly entertaining. The docking for excursions were varied - very scenic and easy to to visit Singapore,Halong Bay and Hong Kong but the other ports were not central which meant quite long bus trips to get to Bangkok, Chi Chi Tunnels,Hoi An and Hanoi. While this is our first cruise we have been fortunate to travel the world staying in all types of accommodation, from houses in India to Five star hotels and we think that all in all this was amongst the top ten of our holiday experiences. On the strength of this our first cruise we will certainly consider doing another cruise in the future. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of it's ports of call.We arrived at 4pm on the Saturday . The ship was not sailing until the following evening. There was hardly anyone boarding at that time so we took our 2 large suitcases and 2 cabin bags with us, so had all our luggage in the room by 4.30. Very smooth Embarkation. We were in Concierge Class Room 7184 with balcony. The room was almost the same size as most ships of the same 2000 passenger size we have cruised on. There were though some minor issues. The wardrobe was not long enough to take my wife's long dresses without the bottom being on the floor. A Strange glass cabinet next door to the wardrobe with 4 shelves was useless. One major issue was the aircon which was to the side of the bed and was blowing on us all the time and could not be switched off. Here is a tip , we had some seloptape and put paper over it and then no problem. Our cabin was kept spotless by our steward and he could not do enough for us. The ship had a full refurbishment just 2 weeks before the cruise and the lounges and bars were fresh with good new furniture. Overall the decor was excellent and clean. I am Gluten Free so was a little apprehensive about eating. I had nothing to fear. All breakfasts and lunches in the self service cafes were marked , so it was easy for GF, Lactose Free, Vegetarian etc to find suitable dishes. GF Pizzas and Pasta were available There was even a Gluten free Bread Station. GF Cake and Ice cream Station. There was plenty of choice and food was good. We ate on open sitting each night which suited us with our 2 friends. We always booked for 8.30 and had no problem getting in immediately. The food was first rate and the service was so friendly and efficient. Our Waiters and Sommelier could not help us enough. We used various bars. We had a Premium drinks package so had good French Champagne and good wine as well .The ice bar was always very busy and one waiter showed off various cocktail skills. The Cosmos bar for late drinkers was on most nights very busy with good entertainment. Although they did have this strange couple of nights with people dancing with headphones on. We opted out on these. We are not great on entertainment so only went 3 times to the theater but what we saw was good. Not much on the ship for the very active but we just like to relax. Internet was a ridiculous price so we just picked up WiFi at ports we called at. We rarely book the ships excursions, although we had did go on one to Ho Che Min which was good, especially the lacquer centre. 3 hours to roam round on our own was probably an hour too long.. Crossing the roads was interesting. We had a 2 day stop at Laem Chabang ( Bangkok) . This was a 2 a two hour trip , so as there were four of us we booked a Luxury premium Van with Blacklane Services. Luxury it was .We stayed at the Anantara Riverside in Bangkok which as the name suggests was on the river with it's own boat to take you across. This hotel was 5star and as good as we have stayed any where in the world. Bangkok is fascinating and certainly worth a visit. We had a tuk tuk for an hour. 60p. The Blacklane drivers were excellent .and drove sedately. Our trip cost us half of that of the cruise ship. Singapore , Saigon, Ho Chi Min and Halong bay are all worth visiting. Embarkation was as usual a little slow. There was another cruise ship embarking at the same time. Luckily the Taxi rank had so many taxis waiting it was only 30 mins from getting off the ship collecting our luggage and going through passport control to be off. To sum this up, the Food and Staff were excellent. Ports of call very interesting. We have cruised with Cunard and Royal Caribbean on similar sized ships and this was comparable. Read Less

We did a two week South East Asia cruise from Singapore to Hong Kong and were lucky enough to be on the second outing of the refurbished ship. We thought the new fit out was really nice in a understated way not to glitzy. All the staff are excellent and can't do enough to please. Ate in the main dining room and buffet which was generally spot on. Only real gripe is that some of the add on costs are very expensive like internet, excursions and drinks. If you drink i'd definitely look at pre-booking a drinks package as it'll work out cheaper than getting on board. Very interesting part of the world to visit and great to have the comfort of the ship to come back to after the hectic ports of call. Be aware other than Singapore, Halong and Hong Kong the other ports involve a considerable amount of travel to reach any places of interest. Read Less

We have done many celebrity cruises and this itinerary was a good one for us. Yes the ship is a bit tired but that did not distract from our enjoyment at all. Cabin was A2 Aquaclass which was fine but we suffered from overhead noise at all times of the day and early mornings, but being under the pool deck what does one expect! Our cabin attendant Robert was fabulous. Dining in Blu was good, not very good as we’ve found before. Lobster was delicious on lobster night and our filet Mignon was great, but other meals were just ok. Desserts a huge let down. Night time entertainment was some of the best we ha d seen on Celebrity for years. There were only two nights ( Elton Jack and the first singer and dancers show)that were terrible, the rest were brilliant. Disappointed that the late night show supposedly on our final night was cancelled at the last minute. This upset our whole plan for the final night as we thought we’d go to the early Beatles show, after an early dinner, then have time to put our bags out then see the late show Allearia at 10 pm. Should have known this plan would fail as never ever seen a late show put on on our last night , EVER! Activities during the day on Celebrity are pitiful! Trivia, bingo, art auctions, sales, sales, sales, dance classes round the pool for 15-20 minutes, Officers versus passenger bag drops, golf putting, volley ball all done by the pool with blasting music, HATE IT!, and another reason to change ship preferences. Thank goodness for the solarium, where quiet reined! The selection of artists for onboard music was excellent, loved the Acoustic Duo especially but they had a range of music to suit all tastes including classical, fantastic. Captains Club host Chris was wonderful and our drink waiters in Reflections Lounge, during CC drinks 5-7, Amik and Valentine were wonderful as was Kadek at cocktail making. Service we thought was excellent throughout the ship. Did all shore excursions ourselves but got feedback from several Celebrity excursions from others, some very good, some dreadful. All ports were fabulous. We did a cooking class in Patong, Thailand with Pums cooking school and restaurant which was fabulous. Colombo Sri Lanka took a Tuk Tuk tour with Tuk Tuk Safaris, again a wonderful way to see Colombo. Then had lunch at the Gallery Cafe, Geoffrey Bawa’s restaurant in a beautiful garden setting which was delicious and cheap. India we had three private tours booked with our Cruise Critic group, in Cochin, Goa and Mumbai. We were booked with Lijo at Muziris Tours. All were fabulous and we got fabulous guides in Goa, Edgar and in Mumbai Infan. Both guides brought our tours with them to life. Muscat we had a private car tour with 2 others from CC for 4 hours. Brilliant and saw all the things we wanted to see. Khalifa was our guide and was very good. The Grand Mosque was fantastic. Dubai we didn’t get off except to go through immigration. This made getting off in Abu Dhabi a breeze. The best- the wonderful hard working staff entertainment at night and music on board Our cabin attendant Our CC waiters Lobster and filet in Blu The bad Lack of any newspapers now for anyone, told to watch BBC and CNN!!! Really- how much Australian, New Zealand Canadian, French, German news does Celebrity think we get from these stations!!! All to save paper, yet we can get three invitations the same night from Art Auctiions about their sales! There were more Brits and Aussies on this cruise than US passengers but that didn’t mean any newspapers! Overall, we had a fabulous cruise due to the itinerary and the people we met, but we find the loud music in all venues the sell, sell, sell just spoiling our overall enjoyment of Celebrity now and we will be looking at other lines that meet our needs better. Let's face it. A 14 day cruise from Shanghai to Singapore for under $1,000 is a no brainer. Thought the charge ($270) was quite high for WiFi. Shore excursions pricey. Drink packages expensive. Mandatory tips. Shops concentrated on very expensive items. But here's the deal. 14 days to fabulous ports and they are still charging what they probably charged for a cruise like this 10 or 15 years ago. They have to make money somewhere and it certainly wasn't on the price of a ticket. Food was very nice and waiter (Mario) was excellent Friendly crew and Captain. Cabin attendant pleasant. Buffet was probably good but I'm not big on the Hometown Buffet concept (all you can stuff in your mouth). Made some nice friends and was very.lucky who they seated us with for dinner. All in all I would do a cruise like this over again in an instant. Read Less

We loved the itinerary of this cruise. Singapore embarkation was quick and luggage delivered to our room. Our Balcony cabin 8031 was spacious with enough closet space. However the bathroom mirror fogged up after the shower. We reported it to the house keeping and front desk. After 3 service call the repairman couldn't fix the problem indicating the problem with their exhaust system of the ship. I am a vegetarian the first few days the food was very skimpy, after speaking to Restaurant manager the problem was fixed. The dining room staff Elias and Johnson were friendly and very efficient. Our room attendant Daria is very sweet and always asked about our comfort. The shows are excellent. Overall it was a good cruise, hope celebrity will replace this ship with a newer one. Shore Excursion we took Colombo, Goa, Muskat and Dubai excursion. Most of the excursions were city tours. The tours were OK. Overall thecruise was average due to creeky old ship. Read Less

Family of 4 in 2 ocean view balcony cabins. We have sailed on Connie before . The public areas are very clean and well maintained. The staterooms are showing their age, however very clean. She is booked for a refit later this year. This will put more life into this beautiful ship. The staff are probably the best we have sailed with. The food in MDR was a very high standard as was the buffet. We had a drinks package ( not premium ) which was very good. We had one meal in Quisine, this was very interesting, but we ate far too much food ! Ordering was an experience in its self, but that is the idea of this restaurant. The entertainment crew worked very hard. On board singers and dancers very excellent, would have liked to see more of them. Their afternoon Broadway singing show was as good as any show I have seen. Guest performers were mostly very good. 1- Singapore. Arrived 1 day early. Pre booked a taxi in uk which did not arrive. The taxi rank at the airport is very efficient and much cheaper than we paid in uk. Lovely city , we need to explore more. Just managed the hop on / off bus which was good value. Taxi driver recommended a local restaurant / cafe called chin chin- the food was delicious and cheap- we were the only non local people and they were very happy to serve us. If you just want good food would recommend- but it is like a cafe. 2 - Phuket- ship tendered. Pre booked a tour in uk with Go Phuket. Guide arrived promptly at 10 am as stated. She was lovely and we had a mini bus for 6 which gave us a very interesting tour of the area and included a beautiful meal at a very clean beach front restaurant. Would 100% recommend this company, very good value. 3- Columbo Sri Lanka- very busy town. Pre booked a tour called Tuk Tuk Safari. This was amazing and we felt like royalty - the ladies given flower garlands and a coconut to drink. Also snacks and cold beer provided. We were transported around the city to see the temples and markets. Lunch also provided in a local curry house served on a leaf. I paid £136 for 4 of us and it was a highlight of our trip. 4 Cochin- immigration was very organised and we were off the ship very early. We booked a trip via a company called carnival on a house boat. It took about 1.5 hour to get there. The bus journey was interesting as this is a very busy place. The house boat tour was 2.5 hours with lunch prepared on the boat. It was very tranquil, but maybe a little too long. However very cheap in comparison to the ships tour which arrived and left at the same time. 5- Goa- Our room attendant was from Goa. We wanted a beach day and he recommended Majorda beach. We paid for a taxi at he port. The taxi booking spot is next to the money exchange just off the ship. We paid £30 ( on card ) 45 min drive to beach and the driver waited. It was lovely with shaded sun beds. Free wifi from the bar. Lots of beach sellers who pestered until you bought from them. The clothes however were very nice and cheap. Mumbia - 2 day stay. Booked a trip in uk with Amaze tours. Our guide was brilliant. We were in a private taxi and he took us everywhere the ship trip went to for a fraction of the cost. On day 2 we did the slum tour with the same company, also had a train ride as part of the tour. This was so interesting and we all enjoyed it. Mumbia was mostly very clean, noisy, colourful and very interesting. Muscat- we just walked into the town to the Souk. There was a hop on / off bus which was expensive. The town is clean and looks stunning from the ship. Dubai - Docked at 12. We had a free transfer to the mall on the hop on /off bus from the port but decided to buy a day ticket. It was expensive for 4 . Approx £55 each. The are 3 routes and we only managed 2 in the time we had. This was a shame as Dubia is amazing. I think it would have been better to miss MUscat and have 2 days in Dubia. Will need to return. Abu Dhabi - did not see as we flew home from Dubia so just got a taxi to the airport. 1.5 hours transfer and very reasonable. Read Less

For the Itinerary, and to try a new Cruise Line after 6 Cruises with P&O over last 8 years. Constellation was lovely, it's going for a refit next year so will be even better. Food was superb as well as Service and entertainment. The ambience is more informal than P&O and better for it. The breakfast and lunch Buffets are of a high standard, both choice wise and quality, and Dinner was of a high standard - see my expanded waistline! Only Cons are they try too hard with up selling drink packages etc early on in the Cruise. But easy to resist. They could also provide information on the Ports visited with a handout on Port Details as you arrive. Towels are also whiter and fluffier on P&O. Would I go back to P&O, no not after this experience, it is definitely a class or 2 above P&O and will definitely use Celebrity again although will use Concierge Class not Aqua as this Cruise. We stayed in Singapore the night before in the Copthorne riverfront hotel where we were able to walk along the river before being picked up by taxi at 1pm. Embarkation was very quick as we are elite we were put through a short queue. With all visas checked and in order we were onboard within 1/2 hour. Cabin was available when we boarded at 1.30 and cases arrived about 4 in time for muster which was crowded but quick. the cabin 1126 was excellent, just what we ordered, peaceful and kept very clean with a good shower. Being elite we had cocktails and canopies from 5pm. it was good to meet over a drink before dinner, Chris the captains club manager mingled as did many other officers We had 1st sitting in the main dining room. food was always very good and our waiter made sure that we were happy with our meals every day breakfast in the Oceanview was where they serve the best poached eggs and egg Benedict sometimes we had breakfast in the dining room The best ice-cream at sea is available all day in the oceanview and always served with a smile entertainment was varied with only one bad night and that was the Elton John tribute, half of the audience had got up and walked out of the 1st show. there was music and bands or games to attend so plenty going on. By 11 the ship was very quiet as the cruise was port intense we booked 4 excursions before we left home through the celebrity site when we saw the 30% off we did find extra excursions when on ship and changed our basic trip to Cochin to a longer and fuller itinerary which included a boat trip, they refunded the money paid and i rebooked, so it worked out well. Staff from the ship were on the trip to help out and i must praise Spicey from the children club , who supervised with such care we loved the tea plantation trip in Sri Lanca We did the Mombai on the Move on the 1st day in Bombay which included a train journey and on the 2nd day the markets . both trips were very informative and enjoyable Goa we stayed on board and enjoyed the facilities At Muscat we docked in the town and so walked as we had been before. the souks are very near with cafes along the sea front . this was a very pleasant place to stop and just walk Dubai we have also been to before. most people on the ship booked the open top bus Phuket was by tender straight into the town, tender was very quick both ways and as it was our 1st stop we just walked in the lovely sunshine along the beach front We loved this cruise, we had a good itinerary, met some lovely people and found that the staff onboard were the most friendliest that we have encounted Our flight was not till 2.30 am so we booked into the Millennium hotel which was opposite the airport and they provided transport back at 11pm. That was better than staying at the airport all day Cruise was booked with Alana at Cruise.co.uk who looked after us and made sure that we had the correct visas etc and was always available for advice Read Less

We chose this cruise because of where Connie was taking us, we hadn't been to Colombo, Cochin, Goa, Mumbai, Muscat or Abu Dhabi. (We had been to Phuket and Dubai several times before). After reading many reviews about Connie before, we really didn't know what to expect as there were so many conflicting reviews both good, bad and ugly. So I've decided to write a review on our experience on aboard and Connie in general. Connie herself is in great shape, nice and clean and everything was working on board, with no smells. In regards to activities onboard there were many choose from, but we chose to relax and just take in the sun on sea days and venture out when docked at all the ports. In regards to Shore Excursions we did choose one from the ship, but it turned out terrible so we complained and received a 30% refund. To be fare to the Shore Excursion team it was the tour guide who was terrible not the places we visited. Cabin, WOW we had no idea that it was going to be that BIG, we had an Oceanview Category 4 Stateroom Number 8003 and our cabin attendant was absolutely superb. Dining was easy, we just rocked up and asked to sit with 6 other guests and within a couple of minutes we were seated and every night apart from 2 nights we sat with different guests and the food was great, we tried just about everything they had on the menus, with top service all around. Entertainment on board this cruise was really really good compared to some horror stories we heard, in fact all over the ship the entertainment was good. The Ports, well what can I say they were simply fabulous, Phuket jus simply laid back and just did what we wanted to do that included catching up with friends (using free Wifi of course), Colombo it was a pretty place and would like to go back again and spend more time, Cochin, well we kind of liked it but Goa and Mumbai were much much better and overall we thought India was kind of organised chaos. Muscat was a beautiful city where the mountains reach out and touched the sea and the city and harbour met. Aub Dhabi, did'n really do any thing for us, it looked like another suburb of Abu Dhabi. Now for the best part, on Connie there is this special place called the Martini Bar, we lived there every night of the cruise just meeting the most loverly people you could ever meet from all over the globe and the 4 bar tenders put on the best Martini/Cocktail shows I ever seen, pouring 15 Cocktails in one go, it was simply the best, well done lads. Overall we had a WOW of a time on Connie will be sailing on her again in the very near future. Read Less

Chose cruise because of itinerary but also because of good experience of good previous Celebrity experience. Great cruise. Singapore to Dubai via India. Our 3rd celebrity cruise but first on a Millennium class ship Embarkation in Singapore very slow but disembarkation very efficient. We had 2 nights in Singapore pre cruise and 2 nights Abu Dhabi post cruise in our cruise package from Iglu Cruises. Hotels good and all but one private transfer went smoothly. Very happy with ship. Never seemed crowded. Preferred dining room layout to the Solstice class ships. Not the same wow factor admittedly but seemed roomier. Food excellent. Great variety, particularly in Ocean View buffet restaurant. Best buffet we've experienced. Service in main dining room a bit slow at times but good otherwise. Think the kitchen struggled to cope the nights there was an extra special cook to order dish. such as lobster or Beef Wellington. Very friendly crew. Must have said Good Morning about 20 times on way to breakfast!! Entertainment - high quality guest artists and varied shows. Ships own productions ok. Best was the Broadway Show, particularly Les Miserables. Loved the Modern Strings duo who played at various venues around ship and the guitarist. Lacked enrichment talks about the countries we were visiting. "Beyond Podium " talks apart from one on Buddhism not relevant to itinerary. Ports of Call talks more about selling excursions than giving information about the country or port. Loved Cafe al Bacio. Went there most afternoons and had quality coffee and yummy cakes. Staff particularly Marren and Anastasia very attentive. Enjoyed the Modern Strings duo music there too. Bliss! Cabin great. Outside on deck 3 midship. Comfortable and bright with large circular window and no higher deck overhang. Good sized shower and nice built in bathroom furniture. Cabin in good convenient location. Kept perfectly by our steward Yacob. Atrium a bit dull looking and lacked atmosphere compared to Solstice class ships. Rendevous bar decor a bit dull too but that may be addresses in the upcoming refurb. Would be nice to have a Piano Bar in Atrium or something to give atmosphere. Most attractive bar area was deck 4 martini and crush bars but very popular and hard to get a seat there. Pool area and top decks had plenty of sunbeds but finding shade was difficult. More areas with sun canopies would be good. All in all a wonderful experience. had forgotten how good Celebrity is since 6 years since last cruised with them. Will be back! Thanks to Celebrity and to our travel Company Iglu, who were most efficient at organising the whole wonderful trip. Read Less

It was a lovely hotel but we were a 'captive audience' with no choice of eateries etc. and no chance to see the beauty of the city at night. Bad choice Celebrity! The following morning we were transported to the dock as normal. Embarkation was no trouble. It was lovely to be back on the 'Connie' once again! She was just how we remembered her but now a little tired and in need of a facelift perhaps. We love the layout of this class of Celebrity ship. Not too large to get around and sensible sized lounges etc. (Unlike some of the newer ships we've encountered). Due to the early arrival, the cabin was not ready, no biggie. Spent a while in the buffet with friends who had travelled in from another part of the World. The food was up to the standard we have come to expect from Celebrity and there was plenty of choice. Our cabin was on deck eight and the balcony protruded further than many on the ship. This gave us an uninterrupted view along the length of the vessel. Although a decent size with adequate storage, the cabin appeared somewhat smaller than on the likes of Silhouette, Reflection etc. and again showed some signs of age. Brilliant cabin steward! Our first encounter with the main dining room was quite disappointing it has to be said! The food was quite poorly cooked and tasted as if it been stood under a heat lamp for a while. Not a great start. Sadly it never really improved. Although were persevered with the dining room most evenings, and there were a few very good dishes during the cruise, it was certainly below the standard we have become used to with Celebrity and far short of our experience on Independence of the Seas, last June. The dining room staff and waiters were brilliant, no request was 'too much trouble'. As a musician myself I'm naturally quite critical of the standard of entertainers, musicians etc. on a cruise ship. The bands were of a good standard overall and the 'House Band' that backed most of the guest acts were brilliant. BUT as on most ships, the sound in the theatre was quite poor to my ears. It lacked punch and the bass player might as well have not been there as there was SO little bass content in the mix. Come on cruise lines, stop employing sound engineers with a 'theatre' background and get some rock 'n' roll guys in, your audience is changing! We didn't really see much of the other music acts on board so can't really comment. The guest artistes were all really good apart from a so called Elton John tribute who was dreadful! I've seen much better in the local clubs in the UK. Being of a certain age we didn't get involved in any physical activities on board but really enjoyed the daily quizzes on sea days and the port lectures were very informative, if a little over cautious about going-it-alone in ports. Which brings me on to shore excursions. First port of call was Phuket. We made the choice to take a local tour mini bus from the dock side. What a fabulous decision! The vehicle was brand new and had been 'pimped' to a very high standard inside. A great driver who took us to the Big Buddha (breathtaking) and an area where there were a number of temples/mosques and market stalls, fabulous. He then dropped us at The Hard Rock Cafe later. Phuket, one of the highlights of the trip! Colombo was our next port. We took an excursion via the ship. A brilliant local guide took us to a couple of points of interest including the Independence Memorial Hall and the National museum. Not enough time was given to enjoy the museum! We finished the tour with tea on the veranda at the very upmarket Galle Face Hotel, which was an enjoyable experience. Overall, not a brilliant tour as much of it was spent in the bus in traffic. (to be expected in the this part of the World I guess) so wouldn't do it again. My advice, take a local trip off the dockside. Cochin was next, our first real taste of India and that's what we got! The taste of pollution was with us from the time we hit the dock. (not literally) :) Again we foolishly took a trip via the ship. We were first taken to a ramshackle Shiva temple which was closed! A very unpicturesque building, so little point in taking us there. We then drove to Church of St. Francis, Fort Kochi which in its own way was quite beautiful but drab and fairly uninteresting. Some of the folks then walked to see some Chinese fishing nets which were quite a distance, we didn't bother as we'd seen them previously whilst driving. Which is really what the body of the trip consisted of, driving through traffic, it was hideous! We were so pleased to see the ship again! Don't bother doing that excursion. Which brings me on to Goa, our next port. I'm a collector of Hard Rock Cafe/Hotel pins (badges) so we always endeavour to make it to any HRC in the ports visited. In this case it was a HR Hotel in the Saligao district of Goa. As none of the trips offered on the ship went near to the hotel, we (foolishly) decided to take a private excursion offered by Celebrity Cruises at a cost of $800!!!! We gave them our desired points of interest including the Reis Magos fort, which was recommended to us, plus assorted temples etc. We were quite excited about this tour, a private vehicle, a guide plus wonderful points of interest, what could be better? Most of it basically! The bus was old and rickety, the guide arrived late and the fort was closed! What angered us was, there were bus loads of Constellation guests already in the fort when we arrived (although the fort WAS officially closed on that day) but we were NOT allowed in despite our tour being booked on the ship! We were granted a 10% discount off a future tour and a small refund by the tour desk but this really didn't make up for the pretty poor experience sadly. But at least we had lunch at The Hard Rock Hotel and I bought pins and a tee shirt! We didn't know quite what to expect in Mumbai. Having watched various travelogue progs on TV we had preconceived ideas about India I guess. Our guide was fabulous! She was SO interesting and genuine. In keeping with other ports, the traffic and pollution was excessive, to be expected. We were taken to the Gateway to India (obligatory), the Victorian railway station and Ghandi's house plus a few other sights. Altogether an enjoyable day! We were overnight in Mumbai but didn't go ashore the second day. After a couple of days at sea we arrived in Muscat, Oman. The highlight of the cruise!! Pristine is the word that sums up the city. Not a scrap of rubbish or debris on the streets, beautifully kept road-sides, roundabouts and public places. Our guide on the ship-booked excursion was superb and a really lovely man with SO much knowledge about not only his country but the whole of the middle east in general. We were escorted to the most spectacular Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, about half an hours' drive from Muscat centre. You HAVE to see this if you visit Muscat! We then went to the Mutrah souq where one can buy anything from clothing to lamps. An absolutely wonderful and enriching day! Having looked forward to seeing Dubai (and getting to another Hard Rock Cafe) for a long time, it turned out to be quite disappointing! For a start it was cold and I made the big mistake of travelling in to the centre on the top deck of the bus! The bus we were actually taking the tour on was picked up at a terminus outside the Dubai Mall. Chaos reigned there with people trying to jump the queue to get out of the cold wind. After already losing an hour of our day we managed to get on the bus and begin the rather tedious tour of Dubai. SO many road works and building sites. The traffic was hideous (I believe I've used that word before). We didn't get off the bus until we arrived at the WAFI Mall where we needed to get a cab to the Hard Rock cafe which is in the Festival City Mall way out of the centre. The cabs are so well priced! Probably our fault but we didn't enjoy our day in Dubai much as we made little effort to see 'the sites' as such, plus it was very cold. Maybe return someday? Our final destination and point of departure was Abu Dhabi, a day later. As we were there overnight we thought we would be able to take a walk around parts of the city after being dropped off at the hotel. NAH! Once again Celebrity had decided to stick us in the Novotel Al Bustan out near the airport! Why Celebrity?? It was a super hotel though and we were able to get a cab to a nearby mall to eat and do a little last minute shopping, as you do. The downside was, we had to leave the hotel at 4am as we were flying from (you guessed it) Dubai, where we had been a day earlier!! No problems at the airport as we were there before the cleaners had finished their work having taken only an hour and a quarter to drive from Abu Dhabi. A lovely breakfast at Giraffe Cafe, Terminal 1 was very welcome. Such a shame the HRC Dubai Airport is in Terminal 3 so I couldn't get there. Hey Ho. Summing up (please do)! It was a wonderful cruise on the Celebrity Constellation and we enjoyed most of the experiences both on board and on land. We would highly recommend this cruise if you've not been to this wondrous part of the world. So much culture with some spectacular vistas to behold and remember for the rest of your days on the planet. My advice, for what it's worth, ignore most of the excursions offered on board (expensive and not good value generally) and go for a local mini bus and driver/guide found on the dockside in most ports. Ask to see the bus before committing as they vary widely in age and quality and HAGGLE! We (four people) got a full day tour in a brand new bus in Phuket for $150 US. Wonderful memories! Read Less

70 th birthday celebration disasterous choice. We booked a sky suite near the very top of the range cabins. We identified a twenty point plus list of problems in the cabin some which where never solved all the time we were on board. Others solved/improved by the fifth day of seven. A five star luxury cruise it was not. Example electrical wiring with exposed ends hanging out of the bathroom wall. No bedside lighting switches that worked. we has to cross the cabin in the dark to get into bed. No curtains on the balcony window. Electrical supply to the cabin in consistent or not working with some sockets. Tile grout and adhesive all over the bathroom walls, the solution was to paint over it, then of course it goes away?? No covers on the ventilation shafts in the bathroom and the covers they did eventually were old and falling apart leaving deposits in the bath and the bathroom floor. The most annoying and amusing problem was the bath room door did not fit and either stuck or clattered against the wall all day and night. The solution, self engineered, was to wedge a toilet roll behind the door and the wall, this was in place for the week. The staff on the ship were sympathetic and pleasant but those who manage Celebrity have little regard for their passengers who as in our case paid a great deal of money for 5 stat luxury which frankly did did exist. These our my personal opinions and feelings about the experience so the same scenarios may have a completely different impact on others. I travelled with my wife and the check in at Singapore was easy and we were on-board and in our cabin within 30 minutes. We come from a small town of 1500 in Western Australia. So there were more people on this ship than in our town. I don't mind crowds but my tolerance is limited and need an escape. Our cabin was our refuge, especially during the sea days, it was laid out very nicely, clean and fair size too, we always go for a veranda cabin for that added feeling of extra space. The staff and food were awesome, I've never faulted a meal on a Celebrity Cruise (our 2nd which is 100% over our MSC experience during which I think I lost weight) but the dining room tables were crammed in, a table for two was literally 10cm from the next table. Impossible too have a nice intimate meal, you were shoulder to shoulder to the person next to you and a table away from your partner. We didn't use the speciality restaurants on this ship which would have given us the intimacy we were looking for but we just felt we had paid enough. It seems there is this assumption that everyone wants to socialise and in the dining room I felt it was forced upon you. I tried the buffet a couple of times but by the time I'd done 2 laps of the venue looking for an empty table the crowd had done my head in, buffets are not for me. The theatre was great with some awesome shows I think we only missed one. The crowds in the coffee shop were hit and miss but the fall back was a great take away service and the chocolate tarts have left me with some serious exercise requirements for when I get home. This was a 7 night cruise with 3 sea days, too many for my liking. If there is a next time I'll be looking for no sea days. Read Less

We Chose this holiday because it took in some places we haven’t seen in that area . The problem with this cruise was the cost of the drinks it’s which was the most I’ve ever paid on any ship . The food was okay but the hot food wasn’t very hot. Wi-Fi was overpriced. One good thing was the entertainment residents and guest artist . But you could’ve done with a comedian . The cabins were excellent, and the cabin staff were very good. specially Ed cabin 6084 . Shore excursions were okay, coaches were very good Plenty of water on board at no additional charge which is unusual . The guide on board was very very knowledgeable and friendly also the drivers . The meal on our first stop was okay apart from raw chicken which when mentioned no one seems to take responsibility. The second trip off ship had a very enjoyable lunch, meal was excellent lovely hotel local music being played and singers. Read Less

We chose this to fill in the gap between visiting Singapore and Hong Kong. A disappointing start at embarkation. We were concierge class but no effort had been made for us to embark quickly and we had to find staff to usher us through. As it was we boarded at 1pm, we had been invited for luncheon valid until 1.30pm. We could have missed this. Our luggage did not get to our cabin until 8pm which we consider very poor. We dined in the restaurant each evening, second sitting. Every time we complained on the temperature of the food and why supposedly hot food was served on cold plates. We were not aware that we had a classic beverage package until the penultimate evening, If we had known we would not have purchased a wine package. Why were we not informed of this when the wine package was purchased? We had a Shore Excursion to Na Trang, Vietnam, where our Guide always seemed to be in a hurry getting off the coach and walking well ahead of the group leading them along busy streets and across roads with no consideration for those who could not keep up. What can I say, from the moment we got to our stateroom which had no electricity it felt like deck 9 was not completed. We were offered a stateroom on deck 10 only to find someone else’s case on the bed and their shoes at the side of the bed. We duly reported this and was told that’s not possible, not nice to be doubted, the room had not been allocated to anyone. The paintwork on the balcony was rough, not painted properly. The bedside lamp never worked, the air conditioning needed altered as the air was warm, the bathroom door was very squeaky, we had no toiletries for two days. The standard type lamp switch was too high. We ordered room service for between 7-7.30 expecting it around 7.15 am, when it didn’t arrive by 7.30 am, I phoned and said it was too late. We got a phone call five minutes later to say it was on its way but I cancelled it, I’m not sure where the tray would go as we didn’t have a table. We dined in Blu every evening and enjoyed it. We went to the Spa for a sauna but unfortunately it wasn’t working, we thought we would relax on the tiled heated seat, it didn’t work either, these were working on our next visit and we enjoyed it. The entertainment was good but not enough staff to take orders for drinks, we ordered one night, had our passes brought back but never got a drink. The first day off the ship was a joke, the queue to get into the theatre went right back through the casino and round again. The next time leaving the ship this was sorted and more like what you would expect. The self service restaurant didn’t have enough staff, I was difficult to try and get a refreshment, the layout wasn’t good, especially if like me you only wanted some bread and cold cuts, I was a bit anxious encase I couldn’t find my husband as it was very busy. The excursions were good but the buses lacked decent seatbelts or none at all. We were on the Equinox in May last year and it was excellent, we were very disappointed in the Millennium, the staff didn’t seem to have gelled, the room attendant missed emptying the bins in the bathroom at night, only occasionally we got a chocolate left on our pillow, no fruit, then there was no table to put it on. We were lucky about the minor details we experienced, others were not so lucky. I will travel again as we received a voucher for a future cruise but at the prices quoted it might not get used. We booked this because we couldn't fault celebrity Constellation last June. It was our first visit to Asia. The cabins are lovely but there were numerous problems and guest services had constant queues throughout the cruise. Our drinks package wasn't added to the cards along with hundreds of others, we had a few minor problems with the cabin and we didn't get any chocolates on our pillows, even though others on our deck did. Unfortunately, we had a connecting door and neighbours who liked TV all night. We could hear every word through the door. Service was very slow for the first few days but improved a lot after that. I thought my birthday might have been acknowledged too but I didn't even get a song, which is unusual for celebrity. The food and entertainment were great and we loved the itinerary. The captain was fab too with a brilliant sense of humour! I hope the problems are sorted now. Read Less

At embarkation we had to show our passports about four times and then they took them off us!!! The ship was in excellent condition following a recent re-fit but more attention should have been given to the outstanding snags. The food was very good in the standard restaurants but the world class dining (extra £35 per head) was certainly not world class and bore no resemblance to the menu shown on the Celebrity website (very underhanded by Celebrity), it even had pizza on the it. I didn't even turn up for the second booking and was prepared to lose the £70 paid. Although i took out the beverage package it was very confusing understanding what was and what was not included. I found the staff very polite. Two out of the three places where the ship stopped were disappointing as they were miles from any form of tourist attraction and therefore cost a lot of money in taxis getting anywhere, although this was still much, much cheaper than booking through Celebrity. Getting on and off the ship was well managed. Read Less

We booked this cruise over a year ago based on the Singapore, Viet Nam and Hong Kong Itinerary. Unbeknownst to us, this was going to be the first cruise after the Millenium was being refurbished in dry-dock. The ship was being "touched up" right up to the time we sailed and throughout the sailing. We were told to arrive any time between 11:30 AM and 3:30 AM. Registration was fairly uncomplicated. Groups were seated based on cabin class. One of the ship's vocalist played as entertainment (beautiful voice), while we waited. Finally, at just after 12:30, an hour late, we were allowed to board. There was a great deal of excitement as everyone came aboard. The crew was very welcoming and went out of their way to assist. There was a nervous excitement in the air. We loved the new design and the feel of the ship. Our first constructive criticism - we were Aqua class. Blu, the Aqua class restaurant, was closed for lunch. For lunch we were told to go to the buffet. I really dislike buffets. I avoid them. Being around crowds of people fighting for food is not my idea of relaxation nor the way to begin a cruise. There was lunch at Luminae for suites. There was a private lunch for Concierge class in Metropolitan Dining Room. Blu should have been open for lunch. Our Cabin - we really liked the decor of the cabin and the design of the bathroom. The new beds are heavenly! There were some items that had been forgotten or not finished in our cabin. Celebrity was very responsive to the issues and by mid-cruise almost everything had been repaired. We weren't the only ones with room issues and from what I heard, Celebrity made every effort to make things right. The person we had dealt with in Guest Relations was excellent and checked each day until the room issues were resolved. The above issues are the only reasons I did not give our cruise 5 stars - an excellent rating. Dining - Blu was fantastic. We loved it so much we ate their exclusively. Our last Celebrity cruise we were in a suite and enjoyed Luminae - but this cruise - Blu might have been even better. The staff was truly outstanding. We enjoyed all of our meals there. Never felt rushed. Entertainment and Activities - there was so much to choose from. Truth is, this cruise we needed to unwind and just relax and that is exactly what we did. I used the spa for a whopping 7 times - the most I've ever been to a spa. Loved everyone there. We loved sitting on our veranda and staring out at the sea. The cruise was a very full one and most of the 2200 were from the UK and Australia. When we went to dance or watch a show it was packed. Excursions - We used Celebrity for our excursions with one exception. All were excellent and well worth the cost. Captain Alex - absolutely hysterical. He should be doing stand-up comedy. We looked forward to his morning addresses. To recap, the Millennium is a beautifully refurbished ship. My husband joked that it had that "new ship" smell. It was an almost perfect cruise minus a few things that were not ready or not finished in our Aqua cabin. The service we experienced was OUTSTANDING from everyone. We've only been back in the US 12 hours and miss the ship. Looking forward to our next cruise (booked on this cruise) in two years..... Read Less

When booked we didn’t know the Millennium was being refitted which would have worried us. Despite a few horror stories from others over dinner we can only judge as we found and our room was perfect. We understand some people got free cruises or some good compensation for their cabins not being ready. Great service, food and quality of excursion we chose although others reported a bit hit and miss. Wonderful entertainment on board with live bands throughout the ship every day. Only slight gripe was speed of service at the bars. When on a drinks package, it still take >14 key presses to ring in a drink on the till and there was much dissatisfaction on how many staff and the speed of service particularly at peak times plus queue jumping was an issue. All in all a great first cruise for us leaving us wanting more. We’ll definitely look at celebrity again and can recommend Millennium without any hesitation. Read Less
