Booked this cruise as we got a great deal on a Celebrity Suite and was looking forward to the WOW factor. It was the 12 night sailing from Rome to the Greek Islands and Israel in late October.
The check in was very smooth and being in a higher level suite we were met at portside and escorted to the Michaels club to have a drink. This started of the cruise very well. Got to our room Suite 1110 ...
We chose this cruise because of the destination ports (Italy, Israel and Greece). All of our previous cruising experience was on Holland America. Overall, the ship is in great condition and service was as expected, what I didn't like:
* Food in dining was sub-par, especially for what we paid. Quality was not good, portions were small - I was surprised they did not have menu and wine options ...
This was my 7th Celebrity X cruise and it certainly comes in 7th in terms of satisfaction. It is our first time on Celebrity Silhouette.
The ship itself is in reasonable condition with the obvious signs of wear and tear, however having threadbare sofa's and upholstery absent from staterooms leave a very poor sight. Old carpets need to be installed asap.
The itinerary was Israel and the Med ...
Took this cruise as it's main destination was Israel. The service was excellent, the ship lovely, but....
# Arriving at Rome Airport was a shambles. Absolute chaos. Even the rep taking us to the coach did not know where to go and took us the wrong way for at least 10 mins, before realising her mistake and we had to retrace our steps to go in the opposite direction. On arrival at the port, ...
As we have enjoyed cruising in the past, particularly Royal Caribbean, we decided to give Celebrity a go. For us, however this proved to be a disappointing experience. As we were meeting friends for this cruise we all decided to book concierge class rooms as a special treat, however we feel this was not worth the extra money & overrated. Unfortunately we had a couple of complaints with our room, ...
It was our 2nd cruise with Celebrity and as previous members have stated, there seems to be a push for you to pay more money.
We really could not fault the main dining room with an excellent team looking after our table.
The cruise did not get off to to a good start for us (and 30 other guests) as after the lifeboat drill we went up to the front Skyview Room to view the departure from Venice ...
This was our first cruise. We had picked Celebrity because it was the upper end of the market and therefore the quality was likely to be higher. This should have been a faultless experience, but it really wasn't.
Arriving at the embarkation dock, we were given a ticket with a 'Y' written on it. I asked how long before we would get to the desk and told 25 minutes. After an hour, i queried it, and ...
We travelled as 3 couples in adjacent cabins from Venice and all had the 'classic drinks' package It was a fly/cruise. Destinations visited were Kotor, Santorini, Athens, Katakolon.
1. Aggogant bar staff on top decks, also kept waiting for cards to be returned.
2. Poor service in Cuvee restaurant, tables not properly laid.
3. Clear cost cutting in progress since RCCL take over.
4. Billed as 5 ...
The Celebrity ships that I have been on are very nice. The cabins are great, the common areas are nice (though I'd love to have a sports bar on board), and the decor of the ships are terrific. What I hate about the last two Celebrity cruises (Eclipse and Silhouette) is the extreme sales techniques. Always being pushed to buy, buy, buy. It is awful. The crew members assigned to do these tasks are ...
Flew to Rome via jet 2, transfers and check in all very efficient. The stateroom was as expected having cruised previously on the Reflection, Equinox and Eclipse. Although in the bathroon the toilet seat was badly stained around the rim seat and the toilet not very clean under the rim. It was pointed out to the attendant and the seat was changed, I should not have had to do this. The first of ...
