14 day Mediteranean - No Isreal

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Celebrity Silhouette

This trip highlighted a 3 day stop in Israel. Headlines of violence caused Celebrity to cancel the Israeli stops. Arguably, this was a correct decision. But Israel has been in turmoil since 1948. A troubling issue was that it was a last minute decision - some didn't get the message until they were on the ship; others found out by cell phone message while at the airport. Instead of Israel Celebrity ...

A Fabulous Cruise, in Spite of an Unavoidable Itinerary Change

We, like many of our fellow cruisers, booked this itinerary primarily to see Israel, and were deeply disappointed when those stops were cancelled due to demonstrations and tensions in and around Jerusalem. A perusal of the news, and reports from people who'd been there the week before, validated Celebrity's decision, however, and the addition of additional Greek islands was smooth, though a ...

Great Value - Great trip - Great Itinerary -

By far, the best Celebrity cruise trip we've taken (our 5th) Although the old days of white glove service on the Century are long gone, I will tell you that this ship is about quality, service and friendliness of the staff. (The food was good as well!) We took a 14 day Holy land cruise and had a great time. Let's start with the Captain - not only is he superb (if there are no glitches, ...

Mediterranean & Israel Cruise

We enjoy cruising, visiting & experiencing the sights and sounds, not to mention the food, of places which we have never been to. We have cruised the Mediterranean several times, but not with Israel on the itinerary. As such, I would say we went on this cruise because of Israel. We embarked our ship in Rome, sailed to Naples, spent 2 nights in Ashdod, went to Haifa, then to Kusadasi, then to ...

Everything was excellent. Easy and quick embarkation and debarkation were a pleasure. Staff was alwaysolite and cheerful. Service was prompt. Ship was clean. Food presentation and service was very good. Enjoyed dining in the MDR. We enjoyed one dinner at the Tuscan Grill. Captain's Club hostess, Donna, was very informative and helpful. Jamie Petts, the new hotel director, was in contact with ...

Our First and Last Celebrity Cruise

We had 30 cruises with Princess but decided to go on a Celebrity cruise because it included 3 days in Israel. We expected a high quality cruise similar to Princess or possibly an improvement. Although the itinerary was good, the Celebrity Cruise was terrible. Here are a few of the problems: - We were at sea 2 days before arriving at Israel and all passengers wanted to learn about Israel ...

Lovely ship, good tours, slightly disappointed with evening meals

This was the first time on Celebrity and the first time going on a larger ship. We had high expectations of the 'modern luxury' line. It's true, the ship was very comfortable, modern and well-maintained. It never felt over-crowded, and there were so many venues, you could always find somewhere quiet to sunbathe or have a drink. The ship has a policy of keeping public address announcements to a ...

Very upsetting cruise, need to be better at treating disabled people

As people had suggested that Celebrity were good we went on their Holy Land cruise. As a Christian I was looking forward to seeing Jerusalem and Galilee. I booked in Aqua class and a wheelchair accessible cabin, and informed my agents that I was a wheelchair user. I was told this was not a problem as the cruise was accessible. I tried to book excursions on line but could not. Imagine my distress ...

We are a senior couple and booked this cruise early this year based on the itinerary: Italy, Greece, Turkey, and Israel. It did not disappoint. We spent a wonderful four days in Rome prior to the cruise staying at the Torre Argentina Relais, a small, well located boutique hotel which we loved. We 'cheaped out' and took the train to Civitivecchia for €11 each. It was on time and very nice. There ...

Celebrity offered a well organised cruise on an outstanding piece of modern hardware. Food and service were uniformly of a high quality. However a number of facilities were very under-utilised creating a number of real dead spots around the ship. Eg the Sky Lounge, Bistro on 5, the Porch. These could easily draw people with music aimed at the baby boomers and some attractively priced alcohol. The ...
